  • In the second video of my series on seasonal work I talk about my seasonal job in Alaska. I had always dreamed of going to Alaska but never thought I would be able to afford it. But working in Alaska at a seasonal job allowed me to spend 4 months there and gave me the chance to experience all the things that I wanted to see and do.
    Check out www.coolworks.com/alaska-jobs to explore the seasonal jobs that are available in Alaska.

    I'm reposting your video on my facebook page. As a retired teacher I often hear young men say nobody will hire them. I believe that , "where there's a will there's a way. I'm going to share this with graduating students who just want to work and explore the world and life. Thanks so much and God bless you.

    I saw this video about 3 years ago and it inspired me to listen to that inner voice and just go, You're journey inspired me so much so I took your recommendations to heart and a couple weeks later I was in Cooper's Landing Alaska working for Princess Cruises 5 minutes from Moose Pass, by the way it is a wonderful town. The experience changed my life and I've been traveling every sense literally enjoying every minute of it. I guess this is my way of saying thank you for showing me the path through the forest and believe me it is so much more I can say yet I'll leave it there.
    Thanks again friend from far far away😇🥰😎

    Oh my gosh I love Alaska! My sister works worked in Seward AK this summer and I got to visit her and did all the tours and cruises for free or 20 dollars. We went to fox island and did the buffet and did amazing tours with glaciers and everything. I’ve made it my goal to work seasonally and go back to Alaska!

    I loved this video. I went to Alaska this summer and loved it. Went on a week cruise out of Vancouver on June 21. Then we stayed over and traveled around Alaska. I’ve really considered doing travel nursing there. One of my daughters was thinking of doing some kind of seasonal work there. Perhaps we could go together and get something fairly close to one another. Do you normally do the work during summer or have you done work there in the winter? Do you know of anyone who does travel nursing there?

    • @TimothyWard

      When I was in Alaska I had to rent a P.O. box for mail. At most other places you can receive mail at your job, they usually have a dedicated P.O box for employee mail. My taxes were the same, I got a W2 every year. I've never had to owe for state taxes in the different states where I worked either. And no I don't have a storage unit anywhere. All the possessions I own are in the two bags I carry with me.Feel free to ask me any other questions you have.

    Hey Tim really enjoy your videos. Very inspiring. Couple of questions for you. I’m about a year out before I could even consider doing this type of thing due to my son heading to college. When is the best time to start applying for a season at a location (how far in advance) and can you mention any best or favorite places you or others have enjoyed working at for its location? Thanks and great info for a less stress lifestyle in which to travel and work at the same time.

      Cyndi, I usually start applying about 3 months before the season starts. For instance, for winter season which starts late Nov/early Dec I usually start applying late Aug/ early Sept. As far as favorite places to work I can recommend the YMCA of Estes Park.

    Hey man, I'm very inspired by your video. My question is: I'm almost 23, I've been clean and sober for about six months, my work background is not very good and working in the rehab field is depressing. Would my work background affect getting a job in seasonal work?

    • @TimothyWard
      @TimothyWard  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably not since for alot of seasonal workers it's their first job and they have no work history at all
