@@sleepyturtwig Amazing course! Just beware, the first half is sneaky hilly! They call it net-downhill, but those hills can fry you if you don't take easier in the first half.
I love that we are all in our separate goals yet together in spirit. Your marathon goal is my half marathon goal, my 10k time is my friends 5k goal, my friends 5k goal is their friends eventual run without stopping goal. Turtles all the way down. Wish me luck at the 14.2 in Tupelo! Here's to getting our goals!🎉
Your channel is by one of the most artistic and informational channels on running, beautifully capturing that feeling you get when running early mornings. Wow -- the creativity in this idea of cutting the actual marathon race course interspersed with the race footage. Goosebumps.
This one is my favorite of yours. I'm running chicago for the first time this year after having lived on the course for the last 15 years. This got me hyped
That last 2 mile loop before heading back on Michigan Ave is SUCH A TEASE haha, you see athletes heading north on the other side, and you think it'll just be a small loop starting south first... but it feels SO LONG!!! That's where my legs started getting heavy 2 years ago, hoping to power through that this year! Glad they paved the cement heating to UC, i remember avoiding potholes. Great video! Getting me excited!! 5 days away babyyy!!!!
thank you for sharing these tip and insights 🙏 i will be there for my 2nd marathon running for charity and im super excited !! my first time was 5:22 in Eugene this past April and goal time for Chicago is under 5 hrs but i am really shooting for a time under 4:50 😎
Love the killer sights of Chicago, awesome to have a video going through the course I've heard so much about! Videos like yours are why I have such a drive in the morning to get up, just be about it, and show up every day 😊
What a video!!!! I’m running Chicago this year and it’s my first marathon 🥹 Looking forward to achieve sub4! I’ve been training so damn hard and complementing it with my studies… Your videos have been pure motivation to me🫶🏻
Spent 8 years of my life in the Chicago area, so one day I hope to run this. Here’s to hoping I win the lottery for 2025! BTW, when I decided to run a marathon last year after 10 years away from serious training, I found your channel while searching for advice. So thanks for helping get back into running! Good luck in Chicago!
Of all the majors I feel like Chicago is the most underrated by those who haven't completed it. Hopefully I'll do it in 2025 and seeing your videos and other recaps I'm getting more and more excited for it.
Running Chicago, 1st time. Hoping to get sub 3:15, after going 3:16:24 this spring with a 2min porta potty stop. 99% sure I'm getting a Boston '25 bib (8:36min buffer atm), so hopefully I can just run and enjoy Chicago and sub 3:15...instead of really pushing for sub 3:10 if I get cut from Boston '25 and then try and get into Boston '26. And who knows, maybe I love Chicago so much I run it again in '25 and say poo poo on Boston. Extra motivation today for my 1st true long run marathon workout of the block after watching this, thank you!
Thank you Eric for making these kinds of videos aswell. Your passion for Chicago and the marathon course really showed in this video!! You shared a lot of great insight into what its like to run this course. We all thank you for that!! I wish I could run Chicago one day, but this year Pisa it is for me! ;)
You actually showed the ‘difficult’ parts of the course and thank you for that. The entire out and back to North is just energetic all the way up until mile 14 or so, when we are firmly on way out to west and that’s when it starts to get really quiet. But, this content is amazing. BTW, I probably watched your Chicago 2023 video some 74 times. Love that opening sequence and song (Light in the distance calling me). Thank you for amazing videos Eric, keeps me hopeful as I battle through Plantar Fasciitis this season
wow. Thank you so much! I have marathon vlogs like that as well. I watch and listen on repeat and never get tired of them. Honored and stoked that that one is that way for you! Keep going!!
Didn’t say that properly, love all your videos and Marathon vlogs, Boston 2:35 and all the build up is incredible too. Absolutely inspiring. But, the one that touched me most is the Chicago 2023 vlog coz I ran last year too. Anytime I feel like I can’t move, I watch that vlog and hyper charged to go out for run.
This year is going to be my first Chicago Marathon. I did Carmel (inspired by you) in April and qualified for Boston with a 2:56:17. I’m aiming for anything under 2:55. 🤞🏻
I have a newborn at home but signed up for Indy Monumental anyway. Having to adjust my goal time with new family responsibilities! But running will always be there when time allows!
super helpful - i dont know how I feel about manually lapping every mile due to GPS issues in CHI but I have heard its inevitable that my splits will get effed...going for 2:50
I'm so excited for you, Scotty, Chris, Cheston, Dani, Krispy etc etc to run Chicago this fall! Love seeing your passion for this city! Rooting for you guys! Hopefully i’ll run chicago one day but in march it’s gonna be barcelona for me next year! Shooting for 3h45
Running the Chicago marathon for the first time ever. Born and raised in Chicago and live right off LSD and Montrose. I’m so excited!! Hoping for 3:30 and under
Love your videos, always one of the first viewers and likers. I'm new to running so your content really inspires me. Im starting to increase my milage in my marathon training block, i was hoping you could talk about how you feul during/before/after your runs! TIA
Hit with an unfortunate stress fracture in July. Have not run in 5 weeks so this is tough to see as I decide if I can hit the finish line in 7 weeks. TBD.
Did you have to review the course at all, or was it all of memory? Love your videos. As I've gotten back into running I've found a lot of inspiration from a fellow Redbird.
Thanks for this! I won a 2024 entry through my employer, but they didn't notify me until 7/21! This will be a run/walk for me since I don't have adequate time to train the full 18-20 weeks. I'm hoping spectators and gels will still remain for us slow runners! I'm just curious... how much fluid do you drink the whole way? I can't seem to drink the recommended 24 oz/hr without having reflux which then affects my breathing.
I thought I'd qualified for Chicago, then they knocked 10mins off the qualifying standard 🙁🤦♂️ I've not given in, doing Poznan Marathon in October. Hoping to run sub-3 for the first time 🤞
Yup, the shirt down the butt crack thing. Maybe you need to tighten your half tights, since it only happens to me when I wear shorts with no drawstring.
I have run the Chicago marathon five or six times and I’ll say it each time, it would be much better if they reversed the course. Better shade, better crowd support, more interesting part of the course. I understand they don’t because that would mean the busier parts of the city would have to be blocked off later into the day.
Are you running Chicago this year?? If so, what's your time goal?
If only I can get in, my chances got lower as they made the time harder. Going for the 2:50:00 Project for CIM
@@sleepyturtwig Amazing course! Just beware, the first half is sneaky hilly! They call it net-downhill, but those hills can fry you if you don't take easier in the first half.
2:52 will be a dream to get me in the mix for an actual BQ. Did 2:58 in Chicago last year
🤘🏽 thanks for this dude. 2:39 is the goal
hopefully a sub 3:30 again!

I'm officially so flipping excited.

one of the greatest over lay videos EVA with footage from a past chicago marathon! you are truly talented and gifted.
Looking forward to running Chicago under 7 weeks thanks for the course footage and explanation on a few of the landmarks. Can’t wait
This will be my first “not fun run” marathon. I’m super nervous but this series has helped me a lot!! Thanks man! My goal is under 3:45

After looking for good Chicago Marathon course videos all week, you upload this. Thank you!! Hope to see you there, coming from little PEI Canada 🇨🇦

Running my first Marathon next year (Stockholm). Thanks for the knowledge and inspiration!
Brought back all the memories from last year! ❤ Good luck Eric 💪
There is no words to describe the excitement I have to run the Chicago Marathon this year! Thanks for the video Floberg! And Go STL Cardinals! lol
NGL, Chicago has been my favourite so far. Not because it’s my PR but the crowd just made it awesome!
Great video!!!
I keep cheering you from the distance throughout the process to hit that sub 2:32.

Keep showing up!! Yup, we'll be doing a shakeout for sure! Keep an eye/ear out here and on instagram for those announcements. :)
Hallo Eric, I have a question for you: is the pre-race fast track in Chicago something that is worth the money?? Thanks😊
Yup, the shirt down the butt crack thing. Maybe you need to tighten your half tights, since it only happens to me when I wear shorts with no drawstring.
Any tips on training in the heat we have had in Chicago? I feel like it’s impossible.
Thanks, one week to run😊😊
Sorry, Do you have a link to your summer of speed training plan?
How hard is it to stay on pace? Seems crowded in one of those scenes?
i came looking for just a video and i found gold
Enjoy!!

hi @flobergruns ! coming to run chicago from canada, was wondering if there are km markers for each km or only every 5 kms?

The music ruined this and made it almost unbearable. So loud and then talking so soft. Had to change the volume drastically every time.
