I just discovered this podcast yesterday. Love it, man. Great stuff. Inspiring. It kind of met me at the perfect place in my life. I've just started running and working out(like seriously 210% focused on the hybrid training), and it has literally saved my life. The people you have on the show are incredible to say the least. I'm all in dude! Thank you!
Listening to Will articulate that his response to grief was running, resonates on such a deep level with me personally. At the beginning of my running journey circa 15 years ago I lost a very close friend very young. Running was an almost 'autopilot' like response to the situation which undoubtedly helped me. Recently having lost another very close friend to suicide, I am blessed to say that running, in an almost insulating fashion, creates a time vacuum for me where time stops, enabling me to process grief in my own time. Or how Will so accurately articulated 'break myself down and rebuild myself.' I have been considering different running pursuits/challenges to elevate my relationship with running...listening to the scale of Will's journey has inspired me to push the boat out. This is a podcast I will come back to time and time again. Thank you, love from Ireland!
My athletic career has been in order; Walking, Gymnastics, surfing, tennis, and finally at 77yrs running I'm so excited! Oh yes I'm looking into Pickle Ball too.
Thanks to both you and Will for having this long-form conversation to reflect upon his experiences more deeply and get a glimpse of what he might do next. As much as his physical feats are extraordinary, I admire his attitude most of all.
I relate so much to what you were saying about associating running with a time that you felt your best mentally and physically. I also used to be a cross country runner, and watching this video has inspired me to become a runner again! Thanks so much for sharing your journey, and I’m sure you have helped many people by putting this out there… 👍❤️
Love that one! Love the way you ask Questions Rich and i love how William takes his space and shares from his heart. What an inspiring human being… especially in relation to my marathon training right now. Thank you guys 🙏🏼
Will is one of the very real-life guys out there. So happy to finally hear a "normal" young person talk on your show. I have not heard their voice talk in long time (being non-traditional ultra runner is a needed breathe of fresh air). All humans are natural born runners. He represents youth and development. I appreciate how you share your struggles Will (and say many things other people may not be brave enough to share). Respect! I am proud of you and want to tell you that you are one of the stronger souls. Keep your friends, as we get older, it becomes harder to make them. Your mom is part of you and part of your beautiful brother and dad. She is watching you all and always there protecting all of you.
Thanks for all of your incredible interviews, Rich! I've learned so much from you over the years, watching your inspiring podcasts has long become a valuable part of my life. Subscribed years ago- it's the least thing to do. Peace from Austria.
As christians we still trust in Jesus and keep faith even when faced with hardships. Because we believe in God's promises, trusting in his faithfulness, and relying on him. Since covid these past three years have been hard on me as a single mother. I have struggled to provide for my children. I’m constantly faced with financial hardships but my faith in God is still strong! Even as I struggle to pay rent and I struggle to buy groceries. I KEEP FAITH in you LORD JESUS. Lord hear my prayers I’m so overwhelmed and discouraged my health is not good struggling with lupus daily and having a heart attack two years ago Lord give me strength. I Praise YOU no matter what! Thank you Jesus! I know you will continue to provide for me and my boys! Hurry back soon!
Absolutely Loved this podcast Rich, Will was so incredibly articulate, inspiring and so full of wisdom. I really enjoyed it so many great moments in this! Thanks for all you do Rich. Have a wonderful weekend :)
How's it goin', champ? Just wanted to let you know that your TH-cam videos are nothing short of outstanding. I stumbled across your channel this week, and I reckon you're absolutely killing it. I'm having a bonza time visiting your channel and immersing myself in your top-notch content. Keen as a bean to see more of your stellar work, mate. Have a grouse week and keep being a legend!
What are you running from? Always try running off the roads where motor vehicles and cyclists travel. Runners & walkers please be as courteous and considerate as possible and move as far as possible to the side to avoid accidents with oncoming cyclists. Especially important on roads with motor vehicles.
Excellent interview. “Thanks geezer” 😂❤😅 - at the end felt like a ADHD moment. How many ultra runners have ADHD versus trauma that they are running “through” - any chance of having ADHD focused episode?
Had Will lost a bit of rugby weight? If so, his tendons, joints etc. would probably be strong for his new weight, which would help with transition to ultra running
Huge RR fan but it's a no from me. This interview glosses over the major issues with WG's Strava data from Transcon - the second half of most of his daily runs saw inhumanly low heart rates in the range of 95-110, unheard of except in the very highest echelons of elite endurance athletes (I'm talking Olympic marathoners and the world's best trail runners, and even these athletes would be hard pressed to achieve 95-110 over ~25 miles every day for 55 days). It also glosses over the fact that WG threw a rock at his detractor's car when the guy came to try to verify what he was doing, and unleashed a ton of verbal abuse in person and on social media-as did Robbie. WG and his team also repeatedly refused to let fans run with him. If we're talking about "diversity" in the sport of ultrarunning, this ain't it. I speak for many in the ultra community when I say we don't want him. Not until he's fully transparent about how these heart rates could be achieved when in sanctioned longer races running at similar paces, his heart rate is routinely in the more standard human range of 160-185.
It's silly that people would have any kind of issues with him enjoying life and taking care of himself. Like he said... life isn't guaranteed. Often, pessimistic thougts like that come from not fully developed minds, and stem from the jelousy that comes with the perception of being unfullfilled in their own life. ✨️
He comes across well here, but I think the wider distance running community is generally sceptical of his claimed achievements now. Why can't he perform well when he's being officially tracked and measured (ie. at official events)? His official times on Strava are completely average, that's the hard truth. He's not the runner he's claiming to be. He's most likely just a cheat with an effective social media team. Integrity is supposed to matter... don't fall for unsubstantiated lies
@@gogoldiego I don't think he's taken accountability for any of it! He's just deflected (or straight up lied about releasing data) and slandered the bloke who's calling him out. Again, it would have been really easy for him to prove his claims with easily available tech - he hasn't. Ask yourself why.
