    I have 3 spots where water droplets fall from the window trim seal, not tbe glass. Is it possible to remove, clean and reseal the trim without removing the glass?

      Hi and thanks for reaching out. You cannot remove the trim without first removing the glass, pretty crazy, huh? If it truly is your trim leaking, it is likely the mounting bolts. What you can do it pull your trim off each side of the interior, remove your rear seats and any any trim below the window and lower your headliner in the back to access all the trim nuts. You can try to push some butyl tape into the holes where the suds come through from the trim and then re-install the nuts. Be careful not to overtighten and damage your time. Make sense?

    Thanks for the great description on the process.
    My 04' 10th gen is starting to do this. It just seems crazy to me that they did it this way!

      Glad my video helps. Do you have a rear window slider?

    I’ve done this twice. First time replaced seal, then found that the version of this rear window with slider in center had a cracked frame. I replaced with a one piece window like yours. These are prone to leaking at spots where butyl seal dips down under a stud and valley created there collects water, dries, collects water etc. This is an opportune time to also replace headliner if needed since you have it halfway accessible.

      Excellent points, thank you! I decided against a slider for the exact reason you mention, prone to cracks. I need to remove my headliner to clean and repair smoker damage caused by the previous owner, but I can get it out from the side given I have an extended cab. By the way, please subscribe ;)

    Nice video. I might have to do this. My 10th Gen rear window has leaked as long as I’ve owned it. The previous owner just put silicone around the whole window. Needless to say, that didn’t solve the problem. I have the standard cab though, so I don’t have rear seats getting soaked.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Best to get it done, as I have been in F150's with this leak and the mildew smell becomes overwhelming.

    I want the ingredients to painting the trim. It looks really good & the clear coat should make it last forever. 👍💯
    PS: I also have to do my window it leaks

      Hi, and thanks for reaching out. Appreciate the compliment. All the ingredients for that trim are listed with links to Amazon in the description of this video. If you buy at Amazon through my link, it won’t cost you any more but I get a small cut to support my channel.

    Did you replace the bit of weather stripping between the plastic trim and the cab, mine is dry rotted

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I did because mine was still good and you really need it. Lots of dirt and debris will get in there and eventually cause another leak if you don’t keep it clean.

    Does the outer plastic molding just pop off? Mine is stuck at the bottom and i didn't want to break it pulling to hard if its actually attached by screws or something. Thanks!

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The outer plastic molding has studs built into it and there are a series of nuts holding it all the way around the perimeter. I thought I covered all that in the video. You’re going to have to pull your headliner inside trim panels out to get to those nuts.

      @@DrivingIntelligence sorry i meant the plastic trim on the outside that you painted not the window itself.

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@hootiemike3091 yes, that is what I referred to in my previous response. I checked my video and it does cover what is needed to remove the trim you are asking about. That outer trim has studs all the way around with nuts to be removed from the inside of the cab. Please try to watch the video again. And thanks for asking! Good luck.

      @DrivingIntelligence  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Your 3rd brake light should have come with a gasket. Did you have a gasket included?

      @@DrivingIntelligence I put the gasket on but it still leaks

      @@djkiller1353 unfortunately, you likely have a leak around the gasket. Did you take any photos of the install? You can send to facebook.com/drivingintelligence

    i have a Harley f150 with this issue. Do you not want to take the window off of that one just because you don't feel like doing it again or because it is more complicated?

    • @DrivingIntelligence
      @DrivingIntelligence  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for watching and for the question. The Harley trucks are the same, really no difference unless you have a rear power slider. And that's not a real problem. If you do have a rear power slider, watch my video regarding the installation of the power slider on my Harley Davidson F150. You'll understand how to disconnect the regulator cables. th-cam.com/video/L95BOmqsPy4/w-d-xo.html
