Had mine on interstate, highway, state roads, county roads, township roads even gravel wash board roads. Even had it on a dirt trail for a short time. No issues😊
Just bought my first bike. It's a 2011 Suzuki Boulevard C50. I got my beginner's permit, so I'm practicing on it right now, just in the parking lot. I take my course August 10th weekend.
I had a c50t a few years ago, it was easily capable of 2-up interstate travel. I never felt it needed a 6th gear which is something I hear for just about every bike with a 5 speed tranny. I also had a Yamaha Stratoliner (1854cc) and I heard people complaining that needed a 6th gear. I currently have a Yamaha Royal Star Tour Deluxe, (1300cc V4), 5 speed. Perfectly fine.
Currently own an 08’ c50t and previously an 04’ Volusia 800. Zero complaints even two up interstate riding. Still has a good sporty throw to it and plenty of highway speed. If you’re sleeping on the c50 or Volusia, don’t. It will take you as long as you can take it.
I am looking for a first bike to get started and learn how to ride and I've watched a few but this one definitely sold me on my decision to want to buy a C50. Thank you very much all of your information was very helpful in making my decision to want one for a 1st bike .
I had one of these bikes and I'm going to get another one they're good learning bikes and they're actually good all around to do whatever bike. They're a lot cheaper than a Harley and I think the mechanical breakdowns are a lot few
My wife and I both had 750 Honda Shadows a few years ago, and we rode those bikes 350 miles one way, down the Interstate to the Gatlinburg Tennessee area for a week with no problem! We've done it three different times! You don't need a big bike to have a good time!
I put 53000 miles on mine, took several “3 states away “ trips on it and it did fine for interstate travel. I did only ride one up but carrying a lot of gear, it still did great 👍.
It's nice to see a review where someone actually really pushed this bike to its limits on the highway. It seems very capable but revving that high for long periods of time is a scary thought. :)
There’s a guy with an 2000 Honda CBR600f4i that put over 200,000 miles on it between road trips, commuting, and even did some track days. That’s a bike with a 15,000+ redline that does over 7000 rpm on the interstate. And he rode it for hours on end at that rpm. I’ve had motorcycles since I was 17 and all the Japanese brands are very tough

I've had my 07 C50 for a good 6 years now and I gotta say, i've been pretty happy with it. However I just recently test rode a Honda VTX 1800 that a local guy here in town is selling and oh lord, I just fell in love with a different bike, lol. I'm gonna be buying it soon and probably keep my C50 for now unless someone offers me a good deal on it, because my wife fell in love with my C50 after we had our first date on it quite a few years back, and she'll fight really hard before I get rid of it. So here's to hoping that an 800cc medium weight bike won't be too much to handle for a starter bike for her. LOL
my dad several years ago owned a honda 360 and we went right down the highway fine, except for the frequent stops to get the feeling back ,lol. but a 750 back in the 70's worked fine. so i have no doubt or problem running my C50T on any interstate highway.
The Honda CB-360 was also my 1st bike in the late 70's. Nimble and quick I drove it all the time in Manhattan especially late or early in the morning catching the green traffic light wave on the upper east side at 80 mph. Love those memories!
I got a 2006 C50 T about 4 years ago and love it. After 25 years without a bike I knew I wanted shaft drive and water cooled. Put on Michelin Commanders. Like you the windshields mess up the looks but I found a good low profile that has oem look mount hardware. Takes most of the buffering out. I don't take on highway often, usually run 40 to 50 and a lot of 35mph country road cruising. Great bike thats plenty big enough for interstate speeds.
I have a 2005. I live in Palo Alto, ca and ride on the freeway to Fremont ( 30ish minutes) to work then on the way home I take a different freeway including the dangerous 101. My bike does fine even with no windshield
My K9 C800 (aka 2009 model) started being shaky at around 145kph, but it was regardless of the load (saddle-bags / back-case / co-rider). The 2003 model does the same at 140kph.. These bikes are actually really great, as - considering their short 5-gears transmission - it handles very well starting 55kph (when I shift to 5th) and still have quite enough power until the afore-mentioned limit(-s). 6th gear might be nice, but I don't think I missed in more than 1/ 30 ocassions. It's also worth mentioning my GF and I toured Austrian and Slovenian Alps with it, fully loaded, but the bike did not feel like "sweating" or even "breathing heavier than usual". Really an excellent value for the money. BTW I'm curious about the VL1500LC and its performance.. Yeah, I plan to get one for next season.

I see no need for a big harley if 75% of my ridding is 55mph back roads. I even ride my virago 250 to work alot and it douse most of what I need just fine.
Have you ridden it with a passenger.. I'm really itching for one of these.. I have had a bunch of bikes.. everything from vstar 650 to electra glide.. getting older and looking for a lighter bike so just wondered.. thanks
Its a really good bike for a passenger as long as that passenger knows how to ride and all. I have had a passenger ride on the back of my Suzuki c50 but that was like twice and not long distance. But from what I have been told by other c50 riders plus my own experience it is definitely worth it.
An excellent choice for an all around solid motorcycle. I am also an older rider (67) and I love mine. Just returned from a 4 day 4 state 700mi ride. I am considering buying a better seat for long rides, though.
I did 4 hours today on the interstate. The bike can do it but the question is can the rider put up with the wind. Its like riding a picnic table in 80mph sustained winds. Its rougher on you than it is the bike. I feel like the sweet spot is between 65mph-70mph..... but it has probably 50% throttle left so it csn do way more, its just not fun.
Would you recommend this as a first bike? I already have a c50T and I'm getting my driver's license soon, I've ridden the bike around the neighbourhood a few times seemed fine to me but I'm not sure if it's too much to handle at higher speeds
Suzuki C50 was the first bike I bought and even driven and that was the beginning of last year. Honestly its a large and powerful bike for a beginner and I am about 5'6. I have never driven a motorcycle before but I can honestly tell you I did not have any issues with the balance because of the size of the bike, in fact I actually bought an auto clutch for it because I did not want to really use the clutch all that much but it could be a beginner bike if you really want to ride a bigger bike and use it for travel.
