Hey all - gofund.me/68924ef8 Firstly here's that link, it would be soooo awesome if you could help Martin out - I personally will be helping him out, but I could never help with all he has lost... I simply don't have enough. Also, I do hope you found today's video REALLY useful!!! Remember this is all about my personal use and experience, we will all have different experiences and that is okay :) But I do welcome debate. Have a wonderful day.
@@FJ-rm4kr I was a little confused there, About to say I am Most definitely helping, we are putting $1000 towards repairs and helping on site once the flood drains and things can be organised safely. People have begun getting sick from cuts in the water :( Thank you for supporting!!
I think the only advantage Copic has over others is its number of available colors. I've only been using alcohol markers for a few years now and I've found I prefer mixing different brands instead of just using one on a piece.
I really miss more light hearted and humorous cheap vs expensive, instead of forcing/insisting for him to re-do it. I own both COPIC and pro markers and I love them. My favourite thing is using them together, this way you get the best of both worlds. Love your videos and hope next videos you will be the laughing funny and chill guy who can always brighten up someone bad day. Love you and hope your family and friends hit by the flood will get netter soon after this terrible disaster.
Yeah, this was the first time I've been frustrated during recording. It was hard to continue at times, I actually scrapped an entire 3 minutes in editing (which is where I skipped to the results of copic) I just couldn't take being negative anymore
@@ADCArtAttack this just proves you should continue making the videos you want to. As a consistent viewer you can really tell a different. Looking forward to your next video. Take care and pet Kiba from all your fans. He is just so cute 🐶
@@ADCArtAttack being honest is not being negative and I find you are always respectful regardless. Definitely don't do videos that make you feel frustrated or not like yourself, but I appreciate the honesty and candor you bring when talking about the tools you use.
@@ADCArtAttack you're just being honest. These people aren't paying you to kiss their ass. What you're showing us is facts and that I appreciate. I'm intimidated by alcohol markers and want to make sure I get ones I can use as a first timer. Also, I learn if I need some kind of special paper or not. Keep doing what you're doing! 💙
I mean I am totally willing to accept they are pretty special, and depending on styles, they vary in opinion .. But, for what I do, I am VERY shocked. Especially at the end, it's the first time I've been frustrated in recording
That's idiotic. I love me some copics but why would anyone criticise people for their choice of tool? Drawing is one of those things where the tool makes up 1%, and the artists skill and experience 99% of the difference. I use copics that doesn't mean my drawings are automatically better. In fact they are terribly mediocre. Meanwhile I've seen people create photorealistic drawings with cheap colour pencils.
@@DarkModulator agreed, but only from a sustainability and environmental standpoint. In terms of cost, it’s still cheaper to just buy more of the cheaper markers than to get refills. But I don’t like the idea of throwing all those plastic pens into landfills and oceans.
Man.. The markers NEEDING additional special paper to be ‘amazing’ is NOT a good thing, dunno why so many people acted like that. Even on their own special paper, the opposition performed better. And, as you said, the whooooole point of alcohol markers is blending, but blending Copics is what causes the colour separation!? They still produced dope art, but were they better? No. Lastly, are they worth their price point? Absolutely not. People really need to put petty brand loyalty aside, even with these results you’ve presented, people are still letting their bias overrule facts. 😅
Not attacking anyone's opinion I think it's great people have different preferred materials for their artwork but copics in the long run do become cheaper to the point of them being the same price maybe give or take a small amount of the cheaper brands... buying one refil (which is usually cheaper then the list price of one sketch marker) will refill your marker about 7 to 10 times, effectively meaning you get around 6-9 free markers, where as buying non refillable markers you pay full price everytime one gets used up. Copics are more out of pocket initially but get way cheaper after the initial purchase so you can't really put the price as a huge flaw when you actually end up saving money and putting so much less plastic in landfills, the ocean, ect..
i agree with this i was looking foward to buying copics at some point because they seem to blend so good but looking at a side-by-side comparison they seen way too expensive for what you get
thanks for these man Ive been re discovering an old passion for drawing and I've been a little discouraged walking back into the stores and seeing some of these prices...or just looking online the amount of stuff available is kinda staggering. it's amazing to see someone demonstrate such a vast quality difference, or lack of difference between these products and their respective prices. I just appreciate content and time it takes to make this stuff for us so thank you.
I use copic but can definitely agree they have their issues. I don’t use the copic paper, just normal 80lb cardstock.the dots that appear when layering don’t really bother me because I use colored pencils on top of them which hides most of it. I also have to say that It doesn’t surprise me you had trouble blending the greens. I HATE the lightest green color you use (the G0000)!!! I actually gave mine away because it would never blend with any other green and just made me always wanted to scream when I tried using it! As soon as I saw the issues you were having I knew what color it was before I saw the color code on the marker body ! 🤣
I actually got a ton of single Windsor and Newton markers for 1€ each in a local book shop and am hearing talking about 24 markers for $60 is cheap.. sheesh!!!
this rematch just proved that copic is overpriced nowadays because it is a famous brand, to achieve the same or even better results with other much cheaper brands that we have available in the market
@@AdleisioCefnforDolphin sorry, but it still doesn't justify the price of these markers, considering that they are practically the most expensive brand currently, the quality should reflect in the price paid, so there is no excuse for the result to be inferior to that of a lower value product
@@fantisu I use Copics all the time and rarely have the problems demonstrated in the video. And if I do it is usually with specific colors and sometimes over blending, and even sometimes seasonally dependent because of changes in air humidity, pressure, and etc. But I also use extremely different papers than what are used in the videos relying mostly on Bristol and Mixed Media paper But to demonstrate just how much of a price gouge import tariffs are. Copic recently reformulated their ink and made their refill bottles half the size they were going from 25cc to 12cc, actually just less than half of it was. And in Japan the price did get cut in half, but in the US, the price change was less than 1 dollar, which means a vast majority of the cost you pay outside of Japan is in tariffs alone which is not something you can logically fault the company or the product itself for, considering the lack of significant price change on the ink refills within the country of manufacture but lack of price change outside of that country. Which yes, currently is a major blow against the price efficiency. I also imagine that the EU has higher restrictions on imported products and being alcohol markers can be classified as hazardous materials it could be more costly to import into the EU than into the US. and actually DickBlick, a US based company, can no longer ship Copics outside of the contiguous US, which I think before the ink reformulation they could ship to Alaska and Hawaii, not 100% certain because I live in Colorado, so I never really even needed to consider that being a problem for some locations. Also in the previous video I posted the Safety Data Sheets which was rather enlightening as well, I think the biggest difference I spotted is that Promarkers have glycerin and a number of other compounds that the Copics did not use, because the only safety data sheet I could find for Copic was before their reformulation. I also did a complete break down of cost efficiency for US specific customers, and it is more cost effective to own copics with refills, IF and only IF you live in the US. Being Promarker is made in the EU/Britain the cost of manufacture and acquisition is significantly lower, which makes it more cost efficient to use them in the EU. The other reason to use Copics with Refills (Or another brand that offers refills) is the lack of plastic waste which is a major problem in general these days, and marker casings cannot be recycled unless you plan to clean out all the material from inside them by cutting them in half. I do like the Promarkers are less prone to splotching or taking on that mottled look, and these videos do make me want to try them out to see if they do work any better or worse with how I use markers, but I know with Prismacolor markers, which also lack refills, I had issues with layering and streaking where multiple layers wouldn't blend out as smoothly as Copics did when I got a few to try. And I even plan to see if DickBlick's markers work well enough being that they have refills. Because my one complaint from Copic is they sometimes put too much dye into their darkest inks and it sometimes tends to precipitate out of solution and crystalize to the point it clogs markers and cannot be dissolved back into solution. Which as a chemistry nerd is very frustrating and denatured alcohol is very hard to work with.
I will, I actually REALLY enjoyed the Chadwick Boseman I did, I spoke with another artist about this (She's a 'Black' Artist) and we discussed how it feels as artists doing, her doing a white character, me a Black character, and it's something we enjoy but we get very negative comments which causes a little fear.... I will DEFINITELY be going to try more!!
@@ADCArtAttack Lol ahhh there is always haters ! You’re an amazing artist and I do mean amazing. I enjoy watching your videos a lot and can’t wait to see you try out more darker skinned characters in the future!! Thank you so much for responding .
@@ADCArtAttack I hate how that works too. It seems people are never happy these days, theres a big push for representation in art but when someone does that there's criticism as you received. The obvious is to just do what you enjoy and ignore the hate but of course in reality the hate can often make the total sum less enjoyable than just giving in. I wish there was an answer I could give, instead all I can say is I feel for you on that. Its frustrating as a non-artist too because a diverse set of backgrounds can make some really amazing characters and pieces.
seeing the results here I must say I do prefer the copic side : I don't like the smoothness of the promarkers here, it gives a digital art vibe. it's subjective, I know. and then I own both promarkers (and brushmarkers) and copic and I must say I'm heavy handed. I hate the bullet nib and the brush nib from the brushmarkers is way too soft. so I do prefer using the copics. I also got some Graph'it Brush markers and found them the perfect addition to the copics : they have a fine liner nib (and a brush nib that is better than the brushmarkers's) !
I love the image you created - and I completely agreed with your conclusions. Overall, the Copic side wound up looking more like a hard plastic while the ProMarkers looked more fluid and life-like. That's so disappointing.
I’m glad you didn’t get flooded out. I love your channel! I’m currently out backpacking for the weekend and watching your videos to unwind before I go to sleep. I love them! Thank you!
Ohhh noooooo 😂😂 I am shocked… Pro and Brushmarkers all you need to do is: 1. Start doing refills. 2. Start doing nib replacements. 3. YOU OFFICIALLY BEAT COPIC! lol
@@ADCArtAttack Even so, I reckon a refill that could top up a marker several times would be huge for Promarker, ALSO they should up the game with the amount of Brushmarker varients they have, I know Promarker are also great, they should do an anniversary pack with ALL the markers in as a set like! 😎 *edit* also I agree the ink is better with Promarkers/Brushmarkers, those speckles in the ink is so annoying when looking at how smooth the Promarker ink is 🤩🤩
I will add, change the cup design, its horrible especially for the brush/bullet side. if only they had refills, I would buy the black copics and have the best of both worlds Copics with W&N ink :O :O :O I can handle easy 5 ciaos on one hand and color, with W&N I can't I need both hands to open them, and the stupid cup its so small and round.
I got a light tab, i got one a few years ago, i saw from another artist that uses Copic, she said that you actually blend the lighter color OVER the darker one, it appearently blends better 🤔 But the video is great and i like the rematch, i have no issue with whatever paper it is that you use, it turns out good despite it
i prefer the look of the pro & brush marker. i kinda like the gritty copic. I got my daughter the Ohuhu markers based off your other cheap vs expensive videos and based off the cell shading test im glad i did, she loves them.
I got the pros for christmas, and I can see why you like them so much! They are so diverse and smooth! Thanks for sharing your talents with us and giving us some sources to buy the items you use!
I just bought my self Ohuhu to get started in Acholic based markers and i enjoy but i feel scared to layer them and blend atm but only been using for 3 months> seeing this about copic I feel glad i started with Ohuhu, I may once i get more confident work up to Promarkers now instead of copic thank you for this breakdown . THANK YOU
Hi. I’m a commercial artist doing editorial cartoons and I have been using Prismacolor markers for many years. I also use Strathmore or Canson marker paper or smooth Bristol board. Would you do a side by side comparison between the Pro and the Prismacolor markers? This was a very good video and very informative. Thank you.
I use Ohuhu and they also do the “separation” thing that I really love because it add texture and that’s my personal preference. At the end of the day, it’s all about preference so you shouldn’t get flamed just because you prefer the look and feel of certain brands over others. Edit: I also don’t think separation is objectively bad. Alcohol markers do that in general, some more than others. As always, LOVE the artwork!
I personally like the Copic side better. The promarker side looks a bit faded out, I think it's more how it's more shaded on that side. But I also agree with your points on the markers. It did drive me nuts when you use sketch paper -notoriously not alcohol marker friendly- but a general marker paper and not the cruddy Copic paper. Love the video love the drawing. I love these comparison videos you do.
He is healthy and well, My wife was on site helping too but many people are becoming sick due to flood water now. So, hopefully everyone can stay safe.
The speckling, I've noticed is pretty common in a lot of alcohol marker brands with heavy layering, I think it's something to do with probably ratio between the alcohol and dye, but yeah, definitely something to note. A LOT of the prestige behind copic is just 'they were the first'/'brand recognition'. But they do have a HUGE collection and a lot of unique colors. And copic itself is actually a lot more reasonable than people think, a lot of the price point actually comes from importing fees, NOT just them being pompous turds. Which is why I don't pay more than 3 bucks a marker for them~! For refills, the best value I find in this is just that it's a lot better for the environment, I hate the idea and fact that most of what we work with as artists is unrecyclable hard plastics that end up in landfills (I am hording my disposables in hopes I can find a way). Copics are also supposed to never dry out (something in the barrel design) but can also be revived with their clear blender fluid if they do. Still, if that's a concern, spectrum noir is a much cheaper and pretty good refill alternative. Wonky color caps, but lovely to work with. But I'm not really surprised the Promarkers outperformed them. It feels like most people have blinders on to make them prefer the copics by default just because they were the more expensive marker and they don't want to feel like they were ripped off. And they are good, but they're not perfect or the best. I'm pretty curious about the original ShinHan Touch markers, and about Tombow's alcohol variety. I know Japan has another set I think called Neopiko that's also supposed to be good. Either way, there are loads of markers out there now, so I don't get why anyone would be shocked copic has legit competition.
I began marker art thanks to you, well learning and pro markers are an amazing marker, I have 6 copic pens I got as an anniversary gift and I after the hype I was stunned at how they performed, I'm sticking with pro markers although love the hubby for the gift
As someone who knows very little about art or markers, I like the look of the pro markers quite a bit more since it has a nice sort of soft look to it, though this may be attributed entirely to your skill with using them
I finally completed my entire Copic brush collection (only 'cause I have Full Set Syndrom lmao) and I have other brands as well. But, I constantly reach for my Ohuhus more often that others! I love using them and use my other expensive brands much less lol Love your vids and hopefully you have other cheaper brands someday to do more comparisons xo
Pro and brush markers are so easy to use. They were the first markers I tried (a 12 set) and then used Amazon cheapest markers (20€ for 80 pieces) and they were no where near promarkers. They blend so well together work perfectly with pencils (I use polychromos) . I recommend getting the pack adc presented I bought the brush one and the skin tone pack 2 and I don't really lack colours. Finally, Adc thanks for your videos I learned so much from them and improved my art by a lot thanks to you. Keep it going ♥️
I got a 48 pack for like 70 bucks a few weeks ago! Amazing price especially cause I’m in Canada. I keep checking the website and the prismacolor markers are still on sale
Hey, I absolutely love this page and helped to bring back my love of drawing. I'm considering getting some promarkers shortly , especially after one of your videos helped me choose Arteza Everblend to start with, which I've just done a few timelapses myself. In this I personally prefer the colours of the copic side but the promarkers do blend a lot better but potentially with a bigger marker set I guess the colour choices are pretty much endless. And layer separation is something I've noticed with my Arteza markers. Thanks again for another quality video!
I'm so glad I saw this video, although nearly a year later, lol! Thank you very much for making this. Having recently got into colouring, I've been hearing everyone rave about Copics, but they're just so expensive! I've been trying to decide whether to just buy a few and try them. Now I won't bother. The promarkers are 1/2 the price and they definitely look a lot better. So thank you very much for helping me save the money on the Copics - I can get twice as many Promarkers now :-)
I’m so glad to see a professional artist has struggled with the copies I got a small 5 pen set to have a go with and just couldn’t get it. I’m gunna have a go with my daughters ohuhus and might get a few promarkers after seeing you use them . Thanks for these comparisons! Is there one prismacolour vs polychromos 🤔
Arteza cam out with some brush markers. Can you do a VS with them and ProMarkers. I have the Arteza Everblends and I really like them, have not gotten the new ones yet. would like someone to review them and see how they compare to another marker brand. Thanks!!
To answer 1:54 : I think the 1$ marker is the one on the right(Ohuhu(?)), 3$ in the middle( my guess is pro/brush markers) and the left is 10$( presumably Copics )
I'm really really glad you're talking about the Copic markers in the manner in which you did. Being able to buy a comparable marker to them or better depending on style, usage, etc I think is a valid point of discussion, yes you can refill them but the price for a Copic is so vastly more expensive and I just don't see a benefit to justify that much more of a price tag for them. 10 bucks or more for a single marker is crazy! I really don't think they're worth that much more. I like them but I just love brush pens in general and I think it's good you addressed such issues with them.
Thank you so much for this comparison!!!! This is what the internet was missing. I really like and respect your opinion- you have tested them beyond doubt. Windsor and Newton pens are clearly better!!!! This was awesome!!!
Cheap vs expensive is really arm and a leg vs do I really need these organs? Love this series though! Edit: I prefer the Pro Markers. They're just so smooth and you don't need special paper or extra. Copic from what I see just has way too many cons for their price. They don't seem beginner friendly at all... So $500 is way better than $5000
You’ve convinced me that pro markers are more worth it. But I do still think Copics are good marker just maybe not worth their price, Though in jazza’s video he did say that copics are his favorite so maybe they just need getting used to but I would probably go with the pro markers. 😁
Jazza is also given his markers for free. He advertises for them in his videos and he gets the whole set. He's done videos on his second channel about getting the new set each time one comes out.
I know I‘m late but so excited to get to know a direct comparison between Copic and Promarkers again! (ich bin stets loyal zu Promarkern, oder immer noch) Oh and btw, I‘d guess the 1 is Copic, the 2 Promarkers and the 3… the cheapest variant..? Because you can tell by their „pattern“ in how well they work with the paper, with Copic it‘s noticeable that there are always „little white / light colored tones and dots“ but what I Love with Promarkers specifically is that „no pattern after drawing“, it really is magical! Thanks for all the effort, time and so on you put into this! (Wird es auch einen Part 3 oder mehr geben? ;D )
I have an A4 lightbox pad from FOME. And it is a huge help for transferring sketched or pencil drawings. Because I hate having to erase the pencil lead off the paper, due to it being rather annoying. Especially if you accidentally crinkle the paper, which is so frustrating. But yeah, love the drawing and the effects. Really awesome work.
@ADCArtAttack not to nitpick and I love both markers, but I have found when it comes to blending with copic, it is best to blend them on a 'palette' like Mylar paper or something nonabsorbent (I've even blended them directly with the marker tips themselves) by first setting down a bit of the darker color, then using the lighter color marker to "dip" into the darkers color on the mylar paper and then hit the page, for a much smoother blending effect, and while this may sound tedious, I have had much more pleasant results vs blending directly on the page. The same effect can come from, say, rubbing the brush tip of a light blue, onto the brush nib of a darker blue, and then laying the color down until the lighter color reveals itself, and while this tends to mean working in 'reverse' it does come with good results. Even if you don't make a video of it, I hightly recommend trying it out in your own time to see if this gives you more positive feelings for copic! That being said, I'm not a stan for copics only, I just use them more as I already own more than I should lmao
So glad I got the Ohuhu... I am just trying different coloring methods out, and I didn't want expensive markers I'd never use a lot of, glad I saved my money and chose Ohuhu, haha. If I were to really get into the coloring, perhaps I'd look into more expensive sets, but right now, I'm matching my set to my skill. I hope Martin is recovering from the flooding.
It's interesting to see how cheap promarkers are in Germany. I'm over here in Austria and I have barely ever seen them in stores. The glow effect looks really cool, kind of water-coloury? Magical either way.
I might be the only person who would like to see it but a barbarian or any other character from the series of Diablo games would be amazing to watch you draw.
I've also tried both copics, and promarkers, as well as cheaper brands... I actually prefer promarkers to be fair, since I do agree with the blending capabilities. Awesome video :)
You should do all the colors that you can and make a really big side by side drawing of two different perspectives using only pro/brush markers on one and copic on the other. Put them to the all out test and figure it out. I love drawing and usually use the cheapest markers, literally crayola markers super tips and any others I find. A lot of paint markers though. (I like doing graffiti.) Your videos literally are just 🔥 but I would love to see you put em to the all out test, do the copic drawing something like a dragon ball scene and the pro/brush markers like a marvel scene :)
I have multibrands...and yes a full set of Copic...I use them all together. One brand may have the color I want over the other. All alcohol markers can work together which is the great thing. I found under harsh bright light you do see the separation with Copic more but it's indiscernible under normal lighting. Most people aren't going to be starting inches from an artwork they are standing back.
I'm kind of split slightly. I love the blending and smoothness of the promarkers so much more but I actually like the color of the copics a lot more. The color seems a little more vibrant and deeper to me but the promarkers result feels more like a marker texture and feels more seamless. I wish there was a way to combine them into the ultimate marker.
I would love to use the other markers, but the fact that copic is still the only brand that sells refills is HUGE pro for me, even though the looks of others look also really amazing. But to be honest, I use my alcohol markers to also color faux fur for costumes, and then I need to refill them more often than for drawing. So your point of the price is definitely valid
I would love to see the same thing with other mediums like paints, pencils, or whatever you feel comfortable with. Or different mediums going head to head pencils versus marker and so on you are super talented so I think it would be cool to see. Anyways cheers and thanks for the content.
omg I thought that " A " was the 1$!! im shoked Xd, here in Argentina really its imposible aford the copic markers, i really glad you did this video cheap vs expensive, because almost every artist who work with copics, use al least 5 shades for a transition, and i think is because the markers dont blend well like you demostrate... and they are covering this flaw by using more shades ... now happy that i dont expen my money on then...
It's nice to see someone not praising Copic markers as highly as most people do. It's not like they're bad, but they are way too expensive for most people. And even for people who can afford it, it's hard to justify that kind of a price. Personally, I don't mind the texture of the Copic markers, but I do feel like the texture limits what you might be able to use them for, unless you like the graininess on the whole photo. Anyway, thanks for the honest review/comparison. I have Ohuhu markers, and a few Copic markers as well, because they were on sale, but I think it would be interesting to try out a couple of the ProMarker brand as well. I really love how smooth they look, and I have never seen anyone else point out the grainy texture of the Copics before. Honestly, I'm such a beginner that I thought all the markers looked like that and I'd just have to deal with it.
I never really mention the separation in my cheap markers usually as I too expect it. But to find out the leading brand is doing it, I was shocked. I'm glad I chose to pick up Promarkers at the start of my career, they have proven time and time that they're world class
@@ADCArtAttack Thank you for taking the time to respond! I’m still looking for that right fit with alcohol markers, and Promarkers seem like they might be a good bet, or at least worth trying. I really appreciate the insight and recommendation. :)
Copic has lovely colors but they were also the reason my only foray into markers was a very short lived one xD I’m used to pencils, graphite, pastels etc. so I don’t really use paper without texture or under 200 gsm. On that kind of surface Copics are either spotty as in the video or if it’s cotton bleed in random places. That’s why they weren’t really for me xD The blender absolutely is amazing for colored pencils though. I can totally understand though why people are into a brand with about a billion colors and the reputation it does. W&N at least where I come from is usually more associated with more traditional art media and a big price tag. Oh well to each their own, so long as what you are creating makes you happy 😊
Thanks for doing this, I really want to start using markers one day and this gives me some idea on which brand to choose, unfortunately where I live the promarkers with 48 colors is over 1k, imagine the copics? but one day I'll get them :)
I learn so much from your videos🙂 I am not the best but I think I have gotten better since I have started watching you ! I donated a little bit to the go fun me. I wish your family member the best and he and everyone that has been effected by the flood are in my prayers 🙏.
HOly Moly...the paper actually made the promarker look even better, I just bought a few pro markers I was debating on trying topics, but hell nah forget it they look trerrible, I want smooth blends otherwise I can just use water based markers for cell shading
For me personally as an artist I like Copic because it has that gritty looks which allows me to make more realistic looking pieces when I want. Am I a professional artist? I don't have a popular TH-cam channel or anything, I don't sell art, but I have been doing art for 30 years and I can say that I can do some pretty decent stuff with Copics. I would love to try those Winsor and Newton ones but they are still very expensive in Australia. Awesome video man, keep it up.
Great video! I honestly just don't get, why Winsor and Newton (and other brands too) don't offer the same system as copic does with refills and exchangeable nibs/tips. I mean, if this is the selling point for copic, they could conquer this relatively easy. I hope they realize this and work on it.
Good work. Looks like she has 6 fingers :) Okay, most important answer, even a bit late, and i did not read the comments, so i guess it has been answered already, Lightpad: different light for different thickness of paper. For this 80g copic paper wich is already very transparent, you don't need the full light of the light pad. Your paper looks thicker thought. If you use a thicker paper like 300g or more watercolor paper it can be difficult to shine through that and a another paper. The paper with the drawing should have less grams. Wow, where do you live? Sketch Marker for 10-12 Dollars? Saw in another video you are in germany, maybe in this video times you are not, but a Copic Sketch should cost a bit over 6 Dollars/Euros. Same for the refills, they are 6,70 Euro. The refill is of course awesome. You can refill a Sketch marker 7 times. The old refills had even more. The Ciao is 9x refillable and the wide markers 5 times. The ink will not dry up, and doesn't mind falling over. That statement is just wrong. I have classic copics from over 20 years ago, that i obviously do not use so much, but they still work fine. Black is not the most common color in a Marker collection, at least not in mine, never bought another black marker for 20 years, i own 3 Copic blacks due to sets that i got. But i bought other copic black pens, the one brush pen for inking, and the multiliners the 0.25 - 07. Long time ago, still work fine. But i use others for that step of an illustration :) Since you don't ink your drawing with those markers, you can use other mediums, like real brushes and ink, winsor and newton have nice big bottle. But i guess that one is dying, the pigments there are superthick, just to have it waterproof i guess, white and black need to be shaken every now and then so it doesn't form a block of pigment in the bottle. Horrible. Sure, there are other refillable Markers, from what i saw, only copic has the whole color range as a refill, others do not. The good brands for Markers blend better from dark to light. Color seperation i have with the few pro brush markers i own as well, i think it is a paper thing, or the mixture of alcohol in the pen. That is is too agressive sometimes? Or the combination of the two... I agree, the pro markers did a good job for smooth coverage of the green of the sleeve and the goldenish over the chest. Now i would love to see a review of Markers on the really expensive paper from Arches, the pink one. (pink is only on the cover, the pages are white, there are pink and green blocks of paper) 🙂 There are a few who love it for markers, i personally would not use it, because it sucks them dry real fast... if you have a big purse go ahead... 😅
Well people like what they like and if your used to a certain style/brand then no amount of testing will change your mind. I would never pay full price for most art supplies. Markers are so temporary of a medium I seldom use them for permanent artworks. I hope you branch out and try another medium, perhaps watercolor painting? I do enjoy your videos as a rule and hope you continue. Please stay safe and take care.

This is a series that teaches me so much. Glad you didn’t get by the flood or else I would be bored

Lol Finally someone who doesn’t roll over for copic. Used to know a girl who would scream like a banshee if you didn’t like copics above all else.
@@goji253 it really does depend on approach.
if only W&N had refills
Copics are more out of pocket initially but get way cheaper after the initial purchase so you can't really put the price as a huge flaw when you actually end up saving money and putting so much less plastic in landfills, the ocean, ect..
yeah I agree with that
i agree with this
i was looking foward to buying copics at some point because they seem to blend so good but looking at a side-by-side comparison they seen way too expensive for what you get
B = $1, A = $3, C = $10. I’m with you: if everything else was equal, then we’re only judging the markers. You’re a more patient man than me.
thanks for these man Ive been re discovering an old passion for drawing and I've been a little discouraged walking back into the stores and seeing some of these prices...or just looking online the amount of stuff available is kinda staggering. it's amazing to see someone demonstrate such a vast quality difference, or lack of difference between these products and their respective prices.
I never get white dots
@@ChargeItUp1 I don’t get them all the time only when I try certain combinations of colors for some reason! 🤷♀️

Thats basically how I started getting my Spectrum Noirs, packs of 8 pens for £6 because it was just as the Illustrators were coming out.
🤔 if you could get refills for pro markers you could put the ink in your copics and you'd have the ultimate marker
How can you say something so controversial and yet so bold.
You are absolutely right tho.
I WISH promarkers had refills because I would so do that.
@@lotusdragonjbh I mean what’s the point? You buy a more expensive marker and fill the ink with a cheap marker?
this rematch just proved that copic is overpriced nowadays because it is a famous brand, to achieve the same or even better results with other much cheaper brands that we have available in the market
@@AdleisioCefnforDolphin sorry, but it still doesn't justify the price of these markers, considering that they are practically the most expensive brand currently, the quality should reflect in the price paid, so there is no excuse for the result to be inferior to that of a lower value product
@@fantisu …I’m not sure you understand how tariffs work?
@@khills it's ok, you can continue deferring the price of the copies, I just don't think it's a good investment
@@fantisu I use Copics all the time and rarely have the problems demonstrated in the video. And if I do it is usually with specific colors and sometimes over blending, and even sometimes seasonally dependent because of changes in air humidity, pressure, and etc. But I also use extremely different papers than what are used in the videos relying mostly on Bristol and Mixed Media paper
But to demonstrate just how much of a price gouge import tariffs are.

I would love for adcartattack and jazza to have a discussion over their preferences for alcohol markers.
I’m glad you didn’t get flooded out. I love your channel! I’m currently out backpacking for the weekend and watching your videos to unwind before I go to sleep. I love them! Thank you!
Ohhh noooooo 😂😂
I am shocked… Pro and Brushmarkers all you need to do is:
1. Start doing refills.
2. Start doing nib replacements.
3. YOU OFFICIALLY BEAT COPIC! lol
Dude!
I mean, meh, replacements, the inks run out before the nibs damage anyway, but If they had both refill AND nib swap... They'd be overkill!
@@ADCArtAttack Even so, I reckon a refill that could top up a marker several times would be huge for Promarker, ALSO they should up the game with the amount of Brushmarker varients they have, I know Promarker are also great, they should do an anniversary pack with ALL the markers in as a set like! 😎
*edit* also I agree the ink is better with Promarkers/Brushmarkers, those speckles in the ink is so annoying when looking at how smooth the Promarker ink is 🤩🤩
I will add, change the cup design, its horrible especially for the brush/bullet side.
if only they had refills, I would buy the black copics and have the best of both worlds

Omg😁 i actually got it right I thought that I would've been wrong but watching your videos have really thought me the values of markers thank you 🙂
I personally like the Copic side better. The promarker side looks a bit faded out, I think it's more how it's more shaded on that side. But I also agree with your points on the markers.
It did drive me nuts when you use sketch paper -notoriously not alcohol marker friendly- but a general marker paper and not the cruddy Copic paper.

Awesome review... I fully agree with all points made. Thank you for the links to the light boards.
I began marker art thanks to you, well learning and pro markers are an amazing marker, I have 6 copic pens I got as an anniversary gift and I after the hype I was stunned at how they performed, I'm sticking with pro markers although love the hubby for the gift

Still prefer the promarker side, copic still looks…pencily
thank you i have been struggling to find a descriptive phrase for the way the copic look and pencily is perfect
As someone who knows very little about art or markers, I like the look of the pro markers quite a bit more since it has a nice sort of soft look to it, though this may be attributed entirely to your skill with using them
I'm really surprised that Copic had a similar texture to Ohuhu!?! I'll keep my Ohuhus.

Finally I was getting so impatient😍😍😍

your first vid on this made me doubt but this time gotta agree with you, props to you for the honest review
I have both copic and pro/brush markers but I was a copic person. You just convinced me otherwise. Lovely artwork as always!
Thanks!!
I sure am :) Problem is they're not available in my area
Edit:
I prefer the Pro Markers.
I totally agree about the refills. I've had a few copics over 8 years (I dive in an out of traditional art) and they may just not be drying up.
The Promarker it's the best, in my opinion. Congrats to your art work.
Absolutely get yourself a light pad they are amazing to have on hand
I've been using promarker on top of copic fineliner and haven't had issue with it reactivating like it does with my microns!
It also appears that way because he couldnt find the right dark green promarker, this made the promarker side look flatter.
Your the best drawer i know and thanks to your vids i became better in drawing so thanks for that
You are a professional with the alcohol markers. The brand does not matter!
this is low-key awesome. simply glorious
ill see myself out
I would love to use the other markers, but the fact that copic is still the only brand that sells refills is HUGE pro for me, even though the looks of others look also really amazing.

Pro marker all day. The coloring and layering is way better lol
Awesome video, man. Can’t wait for the next one.
Copic has lovely colors but they were also the reason my only foray into markers was a very short lived one xD
I’m used to pencils, graphite, pastels etc. so I don’t really use paper without texture or under 200 gsm.
You're like the only one I've sen who wasn't in love with copics.
Love your videos! Awesome as always.
Thanks for doing this, I really want to start using markers one day and this gives me some idea on which brand to choose, unfortunately where I live the promarkers with 48 colors is over 1k, imagine the copics? but one day I'll get them :)
I love your vids your an amazing artist I lovvveeeee thhhiissss yeeeesss
I learn so much from your videos🙂 I am not the best but I think I have gotten better since I have started watching you !
I donated a little bit to the go fun me. I wish your family member the best and he and everyone that has been effected by the flood are in my prayers 🙏.
HOly Moly...the paper actually made the promarker look even better, I just bought a few pro markers I was debating on trying topics, but hell nah forget it they look trerrible, I want smooth blends otherwise I can just use water based markers for cell shading
Left looks like what I would consider a more traditional comic book feel but the right has more realistic blending.
I need one but they are just too expensive I’m the definition of an artist on a BUDGET
Same... I'm an Ohuhu fan because of the cheap price for the quality
He and moriah should collaborate it would be so cool to their styles as a colab
Great video!
I honestly just don't get, why Winsor and Newton (and other brands too) don't offer the same system as copic does with refills and exchangeable nibs/tips. I mean, if this is the selling point for copic, they could conquer this relatively easy. I hope they realize this and work on it.
Good work.
Looks like she has 6 fingers :)
Okay, most important answer, even a bit late, and i did not read the comments, so i guess it has been answered already, Lightpad: different light for different thickness of paper.
But i use others for that step of an illustration :)
Since you don't ink your drawing with those markers, you can use other mediums, like real brushes and ink, winsor and newton have nice big bottle.
(pink is only on the cover, the pages are white, there are pink and green blocks of paper) 🙂
There are a few who love it for markers, i personally would not use it, because it sucks them dry real fast... if you have a big purse go ahead... 😅
another great video as always
keep up yhe great work
Well people like what they like and if your used to a certain style/brand then no amount of testing will change your mind. I would never pay full price for most art supplies. Markers are so temporary of a medium I seldom use them for permanent artworks. I hope you branch out and try another medium, perhaps watercolor painting? I do enjoy your videos as a rule and hope you continue. Please stay safe and take care.
Excellent video, let’s see more testing comparison 👍🏻
I love your videos! but i would love to see you drawing Roronoa Zoro from One Piece :D i Think it would look so great!
Looove how the pro markers look love the soft look
Shows that copics are overhyped !! In the poll I chose pro have been team promarker all the way !!! They are stunning
i got winsor and newton skin pens and i love them they feel soooo clean
and nice
The skin set can NOT be beat by ANY brand... absolute fact!
@@ADCArtAttack ive drew goku and coloured in the skin and it looks fire i was using cheap paper and it didnt even rip the page neither brake it i love them
5:02 thank you, so much.
not even kidding
hey ADCArtAttack, i was wondering any drawing tips to get better
“It looked cool” is the best reason to choose anything
