    This video was a lifesaver.. few weeks ago my 1100 starter clutch went out. I debated taking it to a shop but was quoted $1300, since I am a heavy equipment mechanic I decided to order a new big roller set from an aftermarket company and give it a go. Used this video alone from start to finish and was done in about 4hrs..... It has never started so smooth so I suspect the PO sold it to the dealer when it started going out. Lasted 5k with a start and stop clunk... Saved my riding season.

      Which one did you buy aftermarket?

    • @adrienserigny6702
      @adrienserigny6702 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The brand was Ideal on eBay, just looked for the big roller type... Reviews were decent enough and for $100 or so if it goes again I'd probably just get the same one. Or by that time I may have went to a raider😂

    I agree with the last comment made this man is a genius Best video instructions I’ve ever had. Job went perfectly smooth, 4 1/2 hours. Never would’ve got this job done without this guy. Few mechanics didn’t even wanna do the job because the bike was too old and others wanted my arm and my leg
    I never leave TH-cam comments but you deserve it.
    Thank you very much.

    Damn good video. I may have this same issue , not sure yet. My 1100's starter drags and will only make a few strokes and stops. Parts store says my battery checks out..To me that's questionable. Supposedly the previous owner as soon as he bought it used it was not running. Claims he did this job and also the stater. Self admits he's no mechanic. I don't half believe he did anything. Said he spent 400.00 on parts. Anyways you was thoughro , you didn't speak fast , nice pace. Your voice was clear. One of the best mechanical vids I ever seen. Hats off to you sir.

    Thank you for the attention to detail. I'm re-assembling a basket case '04 V Star. I've been wondering about an extra washer I have after putting the side cover back on. I'll check it against the shift shaft from the outside, then disassemble to reinstall washer. Ugh. I wish people wouldn't take things apart when they don't know what they're doing. Another point you may emphasize- after magneto snatches the cover from your hands, check clutch cable bracket/arm position for alignment. It may prevent cover from seating correctly. Again, great job at simply explaining everything and keep up the good work! 👍

    I had the same issue with my starter clutch several years ago now. Unfortunately I didn't have a pneumatic impact wrench or any experience in doing anything this extensive on a motorcycle. However, I have had years of experience in repairing car engines, overhauls , clutch replacements, and just about any repairs that could possibly come up on older autos. While a very scary operation I couldn't afford having the work done at the going rate of $90/hr when was getting paid only $10/hr at the time. So I forged ahead and did all the work and while the removal and re-installation of the flywheel bolt was very difficult, I was still able to get that done. The secret is to work methodically and slowly taking my time to get everything right. Like I said, this was several years ago and now my bike kicks over very nicely every time.

    Thank you very much. This video was very well thought out. You explained everything perfectly. I change my clutch earlier this year. I watched plenty of videos and got me the Manuel.I'll tell you my friend I wish I seen your video before I got into that job. It was quite frustrating . When I watched your video you made it look so easy wow! You got a new fan. I think you should be making a lot of these step-by-step videos.
