Have you ever seen the Butcherbird? Most people aren't aware that the Northern Shrike (or it's southern cousin, the Loggerhead Shrike) exists. These birds are truly fascinating as they're the only predatory songbirds on the continent!
A group of shrikes is known as an abattoir and the latin name Lanius excubitor translates to "butcher watchman."
