  • How a 12 Handicap Plays Golf - Every Shot Explained
    Today I'm playing at Hawarden Golf Club, a lovely little course in North Wales. There are many scenic holes around here and I really enjoyed playing them. I hope you enjoy watching my round and explaining my shots as I go.

    Great video. Just started playing and my house backs onto this course.

    Played this course early this year and a very up and down round but enjoyed it and very friendly staff and will be back

    Our games are so similar it's scary as I'm also a 12 handicap. We are capable of great shots but also prone to blowup holes that increase our score. It's a very frustrating spectrum but the great shots always have me coming back.

    It's that time of year when we all have to adjust and transition our games to drier, firmer conditions. You played very steady and that's worth something.

      Cheers Mike, yeah definitely happy with how I played overall. Some practice to be done to adjust to the conditions that’s all. Hope you’re good! 😄

    Great video Joe
    Played some excellent shots there too, greens are so firm at the minute they really do catch people out ,
    Great content though and looked like a beautiful course
    👍

      Yeah definitely, you can expect it a bit better with courses you’ve played before but because this was my first time here it was very tricky to judge the firmness/speed of the greens. Thanks mate 👍

    Thought you played well mate. Having the same trouble with chipping onto the green as me at the moment.. really hard transitioning from winter to spring golf! Little less wristy in the putts if you want some advice and lean the shaft forwards more with your irons! Keep up the good work

    • @AverageJoeGolf
      @AverageJoeGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheers Lee, it’s certainly tricky adjusting to the former conditions. Something I definitely need to practice and also visualise landing points whilst I’m playing. 👍

    Learning a lot from the way you’re managing the course! Thanks

    First 9 was like you had videod me. These greens are so fast currently compared to last year. Last year i could attack pins with wedges, this year the roll is crazy.

      @AverageJoeGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Having never played here before too it was so tricky to judge 😅 However hopefully I do a better job next time!

    Great video Joe. Lovely looking course, I felt your pain with that double on the last.

    Your ball striking looks very good, but you appear to be scrunched up at address - a perfect example can bee seen at 7:09 A bit longer clubs may be something to consider perhaps? Take a peek at Matt's (Golf Sidekick) setup and address for irons and driver for an example of what I'm referring to.

    Ball striking is coming on strong. Played this course loads. Great lay out. You should get yourself up to Pennant Park near Holywell. Similar course with stunning views 👍

      Course layout was great mate, posed a different kind of challenge. And nice one, will give it a try when I’m back from Florida 😎

    I’m a +1 and your long game isn’t far off mine, but your game within 100 yds is miles away, especially chipping and putting. Stop hitting driver at the range and practice hard on the 50, 75 and 100 yd carries, practice shaping high, low and draw/fade. Then practice chipping and putting. The best putting drill is to putt along the length of a 1 metre metal ruler. That will make you hit straight and firm. You can transfer the putting stroke to a chipping stroke too (basically putting with a wedge).

      The ‘shot tracer’ app/program, give it a search on Google or the App Store 👍

    Some nice golf mate.....just curious do you ever get a sore back as the spine angle looks to be concave.......the spine angle when putting looks more neutral...not criticizing as you are better than me just wouldn't want to see you get injured.....I assume you dead lift as that's kind of what it looks like....again as always another good video on a lovely course 👌

    • @AverageJoeGolf
      @AverageJoeGolf  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks mate. And it hasn’t bothered me on the course however I do agree that my posture doesn’t look great looking back at the videos. I’m going to have a couple lessons soon so wouldn’t be surprised if he fixes it 👍

    Dump of a place.! Massively overated. Greens always rock hard due to being poorly structured and lack of watering.
