A round of golf at Northop golf course in North Wales. It's a par 72 hole course that was 6052 yards.
The green fee was £18 for a twilight rate in September 2021.
I originally only played this course to see if some of the recent 2 star reviews were accurate. But the course was in fine condition, especially the great greens. Maybe the bunkers needed a little TLC but you can't have everything!
I'm James, a golfer with a dodgy swing now playing off an 18 handicap. I had taken 3 golf lessons to improve my swing on the day of play. I previously was struggling with a straight left miss a lot which accounts for a 2 month break from recording course vlogs (lots of lost balls!).
I'm looking to continuously 90 after taking some golf lessons. Even if I don't shoot a good score I always enjoy strolling around the fairways of North Wales, UK :-)

I absolutely love how you played hole 5. Took your medicine and gave yourself a chance at par instead of hitting the highlight reel shot and it ultimately failing leading to double bogey or more. The more you improve, you’ll put those 55 yard shots closer to the pin and you’ll save par. Keep it up!

Good job holding that finish. I’ve been really working on that. My balance and tempo can get all out of whack pretty easily so cutting out all other swing thoughts and just focusing on holding my finish has shown me good results.

Great improvement all round. You had great putts that were very close to going in, super reading of the slopes. Fabulous to score 89. I bet if you played that course a few more times to become familiar, you'd be shooting mid to low 80's
Well played, after the first two holes your putting was in gear, mostly very solid 2 putts. The first putt getting you to tap in distance most of the time. Avoiding triple bogeys is a must and minimise doubles to be beating 90. Congrats on the first birdie your slice/ fade is consistent which is why you can allow for it.

As another 18 handicapper, this video feels so different from my usual rounds. I feel like we're getting there from such hilariously different approaches. Keep it up, and keep getting those scores down! I always get excited when I get through a nine without a blowup hole, getting through 18 is a treat.

@@notaperfectgolfer3489 They really, really do. My problem is I'll play really well on a bunch of holes but terrible on about as many. I play in a league with around 20 guys, I was tied for most birdies and one of the few with an eagle this year. I also had a 10, 11, and 12 while only one other person had a single hole with a score over 10 for the year. It feels so bad. But thanks for the great content! Your narration is well done, and it made for a good watch. I hope your channel blows up, as it's cool to follow!

That was very cool to watch. I’m an 18 as well but tend to have 5/6 mis hits a round. I thought you were really consistent. Great short game and putting. A bit unlucky with some putts. Looking forward to the next post. Cheers.
I normally have 3 off the tee at least once a round plus a top here and there but on this day I didn't. My driver is not normally as consistent as this too. Uploads will be released 1pm every Friday on this channel for now. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the video: I subscribe to quite a few golf channels and marvel/admire the predominantly low single figure golfers and enjoy their lessons. However, I'm taking a punt and suggesting that the percentage of golfers playing at that level would be miniscule. For mine, you're an inspiration to all us aspirationals 😄

I've seen a lot of improvement in your putting, and all around game. Those long putts that are coming just a few inches from falling are gut wrenching. But much better than sailing one past the cup. Good speed and distance. 👍I have to remember to hit the like button more.

Some of your chips were really good and set up good chances to hole a putt. As you said, not knowing the course affected a few shots, being stuck behind trees etc, but I bet if you played it again you'd be at least 4 shots better 👍

Wow, that took alot of editing. Ive tried making a couple of these videos, but adding the tracer line via the free app, along with adding the info on each hole and your score. Its a lot. This was well made, and you got a consistent swing. I wouldnt change much since clearly your are comfortable with it!

Nice video. I am impressed that you are pretty good out of the traps, which plagues a lot of people with your handicap. Work on the slice and you will see your handicap go down a lot!

Massive fan of the way you use the ‘half swing’ method. Although you have to club up, there’s far more control over the club face. 👍🏻
