- Mushoku Tensei does well to focus on Rudeus and the core aspects of his story but more often than not they leave out the more intricate details. Today we'll take a closer look at some of those from Episode 5 of Season 2.

I think one of the things they didnt show was how rudeus wasnt about to just roll over and take punishment for another misunderstanding. If i remember right, he had wrapped his feet in earth magic to keep gorilla girl from pulling him away, and fitz only remembered to step in when she realized someone was about to get hurt.

Instead it look like rudus is just being pointlessly retraumatized and shutting down.
And that someone wasn't Rudy lmao
Man I wish the show did this... I wanted to see him start defending himself from them.
Well he kinda was. When he was surrendered and they began to hurl insults at him, he began to draw comparisons to his previous life, as well as some of the 'bad things or rather 'misunderstandings' that has happened up to that point, causing him to begin to break down mentally, to the point where his legs began to tremble and he was on the verge of tears. When the * can't remember her name * Gorilla girl tried to pull him away to be 'interrogated' he remembered what happened in his last life where he was put up on the cross naked, and refused to be taken anywhere and allow that to happen to himself ever again, and so he used earth magic on his feet to prevent him self from being moved. Slyphy noticed all of this *him trembling as well as noticing he's breaking down* and rushes to help him, on a side note that is the first time all the girls ever heard silent fitz speak. And as slyphy asks later in the episode, if he truly wanted he could of escaped that situation without hurting anyone, but alas he was breaking down mentally and had alreadly given up the moment he was surrounded and was being insulted.@@neotagatg3238
Honestly the sylphys vs rudy battle in the novels were much more badassly described than what the anime showed.
I expected a sakuga moment there and it felt quite underwhelming in the anime. Even the manga is better in this part, and that says things.

@@RizalBoonThis entire arc is more focused on the characters and world building so I can see why the anime producers didn't focus much on the fight but most of the fights this arc are very important from here on out so I hope they actually try very hard for them, especially because, as you said, there aren't many of them.
The anime left out how Rudeus was using earth magic to keep himself in place during the panty incident and how Sylphie was the only one who noticed this.
The anime also left out Fitz saying/implying (it's been a while, I can't remember which) that Rudeus could've sent them all to the infirmary (hence Fitz's earlier line: "Or would everyone here prefer a trip to the infirmary")

I don't think left out is the right word since the scene was definitely there but anime change it and make Rudues fall flat.
In the anime it looks like he missed with a scatter shot aimed to kill
The books say he shoots one and decides to miss because he realizes its a healing zone not resurrection zone so he tries to miss and cuts fitz cheek
what the heck are resurrection zones? the existence of them makes the stakes seem minuscule if the can just cast it and never lose a person in battle again...

@@sebastiangruenfeld141no such thing as a resurrection zone, ops wording was a bit off. What he meant is that although a healing circle could heal injuries, it would not heal any fatal hits like those of the head or heart reason being it would not be able to heal the person quick enough
I didn’t get that feeling at all. At no point during that fight Rudeus showed any malice at all. I just thought he deliberately aimed that way.
@Matixmer it was not malicious he was taking fitz that serious and then noticed fitz was already defeated by the disturb magic and pulled back missing but still scared fitz stiff with shock he was soo powerful
I think the show is fine as is plus it's better they leave stuff out because it moves it along quicker and gives me great videos from you to listen to LoL. Always love the cut content for anime that I watch every season and your voice is kinda soothing. I listen podcast style normally
I was thinking the same thing lol, leave the anime as it is even with cut contents, so that Aninews can point them to us instead and actually make it more interesting.

@@Bustaperizm Definitely do that - I picked up a couple volumes myself. The source material selling well makes it more likely for more seasons, though I would suggest only buying the volumes covering up to where the anime currently is (and finding downloads if you want to read ahead).

The panty incident would probably be a nightmare for alot of guys. Feel like its part of why i subconsciously stay a couple miles away from any locker rooms/dorms just in case it was the wrong one.

Did the scene in the web novel where Rudy's stone bullets not only flew past Sylphie, but also easily shattered the barrier around her and go on to completely destroy the magic resistent wall behind Sylphie get cut from the LN too?
It was in the LN, it's just not depicted in the anime, which is a bummer.
Yea and it was only a single bullet to not a shotgun blast like he did in the anime. They might have to change some things around in the later season.
Right and the important part is that the magic resistant bricks would be unharmed by any magic under advanced or Saint level? It's been a long while
@@RizalBoon While it is not depicted in the anime per say, if you watch the scene again and listen closely you could hear the sound of them crashing into the wall. At least, that what I thought I heard when I watched the scene.
I came here to mention the same fact. They could have animated this much more epically, similar to the point when he saved Sara from the treant, which was needlessly badass
This most recent episode of Mushoku Tensei perhaps had me smiling more then any other. While, Zanoba? Zenoba? however its spelled, taking a rock to the face would have been fun to see the rest of the episode was perfectly paced imo. Still dunno how I feel about having a "proper" anime opening/closing for it, but if it would make sense for any arc it would be this one. While the Hierarchy would have been nice to explain I feel it could have came across a bit ham fisted where they can easily show aspects of it as the season goes.
I miss the way they did intros last season. it was extra work for sure, but gave so much extra world building we otherwise would have never seen!

@@whitethereal5283But that's where you can explore on the things you normally wouldn't include due to time restraint like the three different cafeteria, Rudeus studying and Fitz training magic or something.
They cut content and cut the opportunity to introduce that cut content which is a double loss for fans.

Definitely love the cut content. I think they've done well picking what to show in the anime but it's also interesting to hear the extra parts. I think the most interesting cut part for season 2 is when Sera came to talk with Elise. I didn't think she'd give Rudy any thought anymore but to think she'd actually learn the truth and bear the pain that they cared for each other for a moment was a tragic beauty.
I'm an anime only but I effin knew it was Nanahoshi from the beginning. Ever since she appeared in season one I've been intrigued about her. So far she's basically the most cryptic and mysterious character and I've been waiting for her. When I saw her appear in the opening for this episode I was like "HELL YEAH, NANAHOSHI" And then when Zanoba mentioned 'ms. silent' Because she was shown studying and whatnot in the opening I knew it was her instantly.
I've rewatched this episode like five times already. Might become my second favorite anime one day. But my favorite will always be Re:Zero.
I never considered it might be her cuz I just assumed she was already OP given that she was traveling with Orsted.

The opening and ending had so many significant and symbolic scenes. So enjoyable.

I think this episode did a pretty good job in not skipping that much content. I do wish they showed more of the curse/Eris scenes but the rest flowed pretty well.

I felt that something was off with this season two but watching your cut content videos now I totally understand.
I think the anime is doing an amazing job telling the same story as the light novels in a different way. Less focus on perversion, less explicit world-building, less character building for side-character, less random thoughts from Rudy, more implicit world-building, more focus on actions, and more wanderlust with the impressive set-pieces.

I feel like they could have made it a little more clear how much of a big deal Disturb Magic is. He reverse engineered counter magic.
At 8:04 they talk about in the later books because there was a part when some species were in heat due to their different cycles that the school had given up with the rules they did have to accommodate all types of students.

this season is okay, ive prepared myself for a pretty slow world focused season so its not too bad, i just miss season 1's op and ed sequences, i thought those were really cool to show the passage of time and the adventure without actually having any dialogue

I'm an anime only and for me, the anime is fine. Of course, I really think that it would've been a lot better if they show these cut content since it adds to the immersion of the Mushoku world but if you watch it without knowing about the content they didn't include, then it's not really much of a problem.
That said, there are quite a few moments that despite being an anime only, still feels rushed/not explained properly. But well, that could be easily solved by watching your videos on cut content XD
Yeah I get your point. But I still think this anime is the apex of animes based on light novels if that makes sense. Usually these animes are pretty lacking and the original content is way better. With mushoku is not like that
they should have animated the fact that rudy broke the advance tier magic barrier and also scattered debris everywhere during the fight with sylphy. was a tiny detail that would have taken a few frames but skipped

I decided to buy the book when I'll eventually move(I live in a one room appartment so I have room for only one bookshelf, even then a second bookself would simply be used to clear up my current bookself). I think my mom would like the books since something she likes in some books is the mental state of the character. (She asked me for some fantasy novel about 6 years ago, and she liked them so much, she never stopped. It's the Kate Daniels series if anyone is wondering).

Also I'd say the cut content was pretty important. I realized miss silent was likely not Fitz but with the information from you that seems confirmed. Beyond that my current theory is now that miss silent is Orsted's protege who is possibly from Japan just like Rudy. Also the suggestions she has been giving to the school may just be ideas that she brought from her life back in her old world.
I mean it's kind of obvious that "MISS Silent" is not Fitz cause everyone knows Fitz as a boy.
I think that the anime is going wonderfully so far. Much like the 2nd season of Vinland Saga, I believe that the change in pace here is equally entertaining in its own way.
I Dont mind the change of pace, but Sarah's story was a bit butchered. like. none of her internal monologue and why she kinda hates Rudeus at first is explained.
i know it's sort of a 9 chapters more but... many people seems to think she's a bitch now. and poor Sarah deserved better.

The only exception to not being able to cast magic directly into someone' is healing magic. I think that difference is key to why he isn't able to work out how silient healing.
Disturb magic is more similar to cast jamming from magical highschool, a directed Blast of mana that interferes with the formation of a spell.
Healing perhaps works on a different system or principle from offensive magic much in the way the swordsman buff themselves and their weapons on a seperate system

That what I love about these videos, they give us way more World Building then The Anime itself. 📚🧏🏿♂️
Light novels have so much detail that the anime sadly doesn't have enough time to show or can't really show in animated form without lots of exposition or halting the pacing by having to go between multiple characters inner thoughts. These videos serve as a great way to point out some of the missed details but even still they leave out information like how Rudeus managed to damage the magic resistant stone or how he was using magic during the panty incident to not be pushed around. Always recommended to read the LNs if you want world building and all the detail because even manga leave stuff out sometimes.

My only real complaint for this season is the OP being standard anime OP which now feels hugely out of place after how season 1 did things. Season 1's OP was so good for building the atmosphere and mood of the show and the one now just feels discordant with the tone.
I agree completely. I really liked how every location had a unique intro in season 1, showing worldbuilding aspects of daily life in that area. I honestly think that the magic university would probably have been the perfect place to show these kinds of daily life scenes, and could even help illustrate some otherwise cut content. I've seen a few people who were saying that they wanted a standard anime opening vs. the more dynamic opening scenes of season 1, but I personally never really understood that preference.
Reason why s1 worked so well with that was because they were travelling. At this moment rudy will stay quiet long at the academy so not really much can be shown woth that. Not that suprising why switched it up
The decision to go with traditional opening intros is that the majority of the setting will take place in the university. The episodes will showcase the world building that that would have been the MT's style of OP
It does look gorgeous, though.
The OPs and EDs were the perfect place to put traveling montages, so that's why they did it that way in the first season.
Not much point when he's in one location for months on end. They still do it when he's traveling though.
yeah i really think that going from that winter town to a university situation left out some context. i feel like there should be some concept that time has passed and that rudeous mental state/ thought process. Ty for what you do

I believe BIND is producing this masterpiece into an Anime quite well. Naturally it would be the best thing ever if it were 100% true to the source material without leaving things out, but even a studio that was specifically created for producing this show, they probably still are limited to some degree. I did not read the LN, which is why I love these videos.
I just binged watched the whole series up to the most recent episode. Fug... I hate waiting for shows that get me hooked.

I always try to keep on mind that anime isnt manga made movie, or light novel made movie, but one adaptation of the source material, there will be stuff changed, and different from what most people think, you dont need explain everything, like Sarah past, yeah it is cool and all, but you dont need to know every person story, some people are like that, it is a tool many authors uses to make the writing longer, as long it dont hurt the story or become a plot hole, i am fine.
Personally im a huge fan of myshoku tensei so dont expect any bad comments from me 🙂🙂 , but clearly season 2 hit different cuz now we're no more in the prologue, now that our mc is big and strong the story can bigin which means that even if the this arc is supposed to help the characters building it still really important, and to be honest the studio made it so well that for me mushoku tensei is the best anime of the season
Actually... Elinalise isn't rich only from being an adventurer. Because of the curse she "generates" magic crystals inside herself, which she then sells for a LOT of money. She is basically a the golden egg chicken but with magic crystals.
the season has been solid so far but nothing stand out. I'd give every episode 1-5 an 8/10
Thanks for giving Rudy's rationalization for the Fitz having panties, the anime left it out despite it being as bizarre as the girl's confrontation.

You missed one thing about the end of the episode... when "Fitz" threatened those gathered to leave Rudy alone, she did so because she was protecting them from Rudy, not Rudy from them - she knew how strong Rudy was.
He wouldn't have fought back -- he was having a ptsd induced anxiety attack.

Yeah I wish the fight had better details and it showed the royalty cafe dynamic a little more. Along with him making the makeshift table outside would have been awesome to see animated.
So I am still loving the anime, I think its pretty awesome, I know the novels have too much information that cant be really fit, and that is why i love this just to get the extra context and deepen the story.

The biggest thing I wish they had added in the anime was the details on the cafeteria. For the very straight forward reason of I got confused as to why Like prodded at Rudeus outside, this contextualised that very nicely

I don't mind them skipping content in the university arch. It's a lot more descriptive so gets a bit bogged down pace wise. Then again I read the web novel, so maybe the light novel fixed that.
Nope. It kind of get boring to certain point in the LN as well but having into consideration that the LN should be better quality than the WN u probably suffered more than me . The other boring part as well is the book with Ariel and pregurius and a library…. I don’t want to spoil much lol
