Julie was the GOAT this episode. The way she just waddles off screen when Rudy starts to get unhinged was adorable Reading the LNs I was actually pretty surprised with how much of a bro Zanoba turns out to be.
I was gonna say this. Voice actor/actress nailed the child like voice acting. When Rudeus got mad and Zanoba was crying, Julie's crying was on point. You can feel that she doesnt know what will happen next and all she can do is cry. That little tip toe to hide behind Zanoba because she is scared was also perfect. This was the best episode so far for me.

As someone who normally hates all spoilers but didn’t really care about getting spoiled on that small scene, I still really appreciate you coming out at the beginning with an apology and explaining it. It goes a long way!
His emotional scars are deep, and they don't just go away, especially when something like this strikes close to them. It's important to see that darkness within him and realize how much he could perpetuate the abuse he received himself if he chose to, with how powerful he is now. At the same time, the crucial moment is when he suddenly realizes he's taken this too far, recognizes the path he's started to step onto, and understands that he needs to change course before it's too late.
And you can notice how hitogami telling him he'd be able to find a cure inside ranoa is what pushes him to do stuff like this. I'm pretty sure he's just not that kind of person anymore.
@@Brianworldwide_7 That might have played a role, but I'm skeptical that anything Hitogami said was the main reason for what he did in this ep. Side note, though: imagine if Rudeus *had* gotten a "reaction" from that groping. That's a truly terrifying alternate path if he'd concluded that doing stuff like *that* is the only way he could be aroused anymore. 😱

Most likely what happened was that they figured that the parts about fitz would be better at the beginning of this episode instead of the other for a more natural flow of story telling (plenty of animes may do this for this specific reason), but the idea of them doing it out of watching the last cut content video would be funny.
I think the showrunners decided to put the Sylphie chapter in episode 7 instead of episode 6 to serve as a bookend with the very last scene. The scenes of Sylphie in her room thinking about Rudeus parallel with the scene at the end where she and Rudeus are actually alone in his room. Having now gotten that earlier scene, we understand some of the thoughts that must be swirling through Sylphie's head in the final scene, and see how tempted she is in that moment to take off the glasses and reveal everything.
Learning a small spoiler doesn’t take away from my experience watching the next episode. Just major stuff like characters dying or whatever. Love this series!
It actually made me chuckle a bit thinking " o boy AniNews you have some explaining to do". Like when someone steals your umbrella from the umbrella rack so you had no choice but run in the rain. And when you go meet up with your friends you see one of them with your umbrella and everyone just has a good laugh.
It felt like a blunder of the anime to leave out Linia and Pursena's tyranny of their peers. It's no wonder the punishment Rudy gave the girls felt unjustified, it wasn't shown that they deserved it. I also think they should have pressured Zanoba into his bet and/or changed the punishment on him. The anime makes it seem like Zanoba made a cocky bet, fairly lost but bitterly took the L. In the anime we barely see any of actions that are deserving of the punishment they got from Rudy!
I mean to be fair, his punishment was mostly unintentional. The only actual punishment he meant to deal out was the face paint, the psychological torture was just something of a happy accident.
0:17 My favourite part was cut... when Julie joins in, wholeheartedly, with the 'Roxy' chant. Unexpected but a great character moment. Don't worry about the previous 'spoiler'. I enjoy the insights into the missing content and I only had a mild case of déjà vu at the start of this episode. Sadly, I've already had major spoilers from TH-cam thumbnails that I'm doing my best to scrub from my brain.
I absolutely adore how this anime has handled the OP protagonist - Rudy is insanely strong, but his past traumas, desire to not get conceited or overconfident, and experiences with other much stronger individuals has led him to underestimate himself and/or overestimate opponents. It's a very cool dynamic that is explored very well, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. And don't worry about the spoiler, I think it should be a given that the anime is likely to move some content around so if you are going over things missed from the source material, there is bound to be some stuff that is touched on later in the anime. As long as you don't reveal major plot points it's all good imo.
There will still be one other reason related to how op he is later down the line. It will probably be covered in the next two episodes, unless it gets cut.
if you're curious as to why the cat and dogs are the leaders of the beast tribes i have a minor spoiler that wont actually appear in the anime. in the prequel, "old dragons tale" the first Beast God, for which the language is named after had two heads, one was a cat, the other was a dog. the two clans are more than likely his direct bloodline.
Oh my God! Julie is just so precious!! I have a lot more appreciation of her now than when I just read the light novel. Animated Julie just makes her so adorable! Reminds me of my nephews and nieces 🥰

Love these reviews. Keep them coming. I was a little surprised when Rudy talked about Gyus and the sacred beast and the girls didn't react. They did react when he talked about Ghislane but a young human such as Rudy meeting Gyus and the sacred beast should have surprised them too.
I prefer how the LN handled the "meow, meow, meow" taunt. The anime said "dumb beastpeople can't speak human-tounge properly" but that douest fit Rudy, the LN her just accused them of baby talk. After "Aunt Ghiselaine" can speak human-tounge without random nyans.
@@noahbutler7057 Ghislaine isn't even that good of an example because of that. A better one would be someone like Gyes and all of the other adults in the Doldia village from s1. That's the example what Rudeus uses when he taunts Linia in the novels.

Im an anime-only and i appreciate the skipped content, especially for a series like this where for me and Im assuming most ppl, the world building is one of its greatest attraction.
brother don't worry about the spoilers, if anything your description of the scene made it more exciting to watch. You have a way of telling events that is very interesting and makes you think of what the author is setting up to/showcasing. So I noticed the little details I would've otherwise missed if I had not watched your video.
Honestly having your take on it before I saw the scenes with Sylphie in the morning didn't hurt the experience one bit. It just added a bit of context to what I was watching which was actually nice in it's own way.
No problem. I was surprised they showed that little slice of life of Slyphie's and it was enjoyable to see what you described animated. I didn't feel spoiled at all.
Let's not forget the content skipped when Ariel first arrived at the school the whole fight and animosity between Linia and the pursena and Fitz kinda wished they put that fight in there 😅😂

I knew eventually a spoiler would slip out now and then, but as long as I don't get big event spoilers it's all good. The Sylphie thing is a minor spoiler, it didn't ruin anything at all.

No need to apologize regarding some things you might cover in your vids that might be a spoiler. I personally watch, listen to your vids just to get a better context on the anime. One side note from this episode is seeing Rudeus train yet another silent spellcaster. We're constantly shown that silent casting is *extremely* rare and noteworthy, and yet it seems like it isn't actually that hard to learn with the right instruction. We saw Rudeus teach himself quickly, Sylphie figured out how to do it almost immediately once Rudeus explained how, and now Julie has learned it in a month. I know we've had hints that it's only this easy (or possible) to learn at a young age - though really it's just one hint, since Sylphie's statement was just based on her own experience with Rudeus. But other than that, is the lack of silent casters in the world of MT simply because almost no one manages to think outside that particular box? Or maybe a combination of the two, where various mages might think that it is possible to learn, but only after they're too old to do it themselves? Even at that, I have a hard time believing that at some point, some would-be despot who learned silent casting while young wouldn't have gotten their hands on a bunch of kids and trained them into a silent-casting supermage army with massive mana pools.
It's probably because an aptitude for magic and even a persons mana is pool is very tiny until a certain age. While it can still be trained with intent, most people would wait until a much later age when their natural mana pool and talents start to show. Obviously at that point it's too late but it makes sense.
Silent casting is not as mana efficient as casting with incants. I think it was 5x or even 10x the mana cost for a silent spell. Rudy can handle it because his mana pool is legendary, and Sylphie's mana pool isn't quite as big but still significantly larger than most. It's not just being taught at a young age, it's developing the mana pool at a young age to be able to afford silent casting that is the problem. Given everyone generally thinks that your mana pool is static from birth, and don't bother teaching kids any magic usually because they generally can't grasp the concepts involved, having a kid be taught magic was exceedingly rare. Even Rudy only got the tutoring after he'd demonstrated casting an Intermediate spell, and recall Roxy at first was very skeptical that the kid could do *any* magic.
@@ShneekeyTheLost i think is a mix of that and the fact that you need to "feel" the mana flow in your body, and some that is used to cast magic might be dulled to the sensation, like when exercising after a wile you stop feeling the fatigue unless you over do it
It's also the fact that when a kid turns 10 they will have a rigid thought pattern so it will be alot harder to mold their thought process to be able to do silent casting. The reason why silphy even recommends kids at 5 years old is that they still have a free mind that can still be molded. So teaching them will be easier cause kids that age have lots of imagination.
@@LazyDeath666Ya, having the flexibility to think outside the box does seem to be crucial. Rudeus just has a huge advantage in that department by starting with an adult intellect from birth. Plus knowing he's in a different world with different rules naturally encourages him to question and push those boundaries (I call it the "free your mind" effect, after the Matrix).
it's awesome how they emphasized how pretty sylphie is even though she's playing a boy at this moment in the story. as though even if she's dressing the part of a man her beauty isn't easily hidden.

Peak cuteness with how she was copying them, then alternated between hiding behind Rudeus only to leave him after he goes insane.

Honestly having your take on it before I saw the scenes with Sylphie in the morning didn't hurt the experience one bit.
It just added a bit of context to what I was watching which was actually nice in it's own way.

One side note from this episode is seeing Rudeus train yet another silent spellcaster. We're constantly shown that silent casting is *extremely* rare and noteworthy, and yet it seems like it isn't actually that hard to learn with the right instruction. We saw Rudeus teach himself quickly, Sylphie figured out how to do it almost immediately once Rudeus explained how, and now Julie has learned it in a month. I know we've had hints that it's only this easy (or possible) to learn at a young age - though really it's just one hint, since Sylphie's statement was just based on her own experience with Rudeus. But other than that, is the lack of silent casters in the world of MT simply because almost no one manages to think outside that particular box? Or maybe a combination of the two, where various mages might think that it is possible to learn, but only after they're too old to do it themselves? Even at that, I have a hard time believing that at some point, some would-be despot who learned silent casting while young wouldn't have gotten their hands on a bunch of kids and trained them into a silent-casting supermage army with massive mana pools.
It's probably because an aptitude for magic and even a persons mana is pool is very tiny until a certain age. While it can still be trained with intent, most people would wait until a much later age when their natural mana pool and talents start to show. Obviously at that point it's too late but it makes sense.
Silent casting is not as mana efficient as casting with incants. I think it was 5x or even 10x the mana cost for a silent spell. Rudy can handle it because his mana pool is legendary, and Sylphie's mana pool isn't quite as big but still significantly larger than most. It's not just being taught at a young age, it's developing the mana pool at a young age to be able to afford silent casting that is the problem. Given everyone generally thinks that your mana pool is static from birth, and don't bother teaching kids any magic usually because they generally can't grasp the concepts involved, having a kid be taught magic was exceedingly rare. Even Rudy only got the tutoring after he'd demonstrated casting an Intermediate spell, and recall Roxy at first was very skeptical that the kid could do *any* magic.
@@ShneekeyTheLost i think is a mix of that and the fact that you need to "feel" the mana flow in your body, and some that is used to cast magic might be dulled to the sensation, like when exercising after a wile you stop feeling the fatigue unless you over do it
It's also the fact that when a kid turns 10 they will have a rigid thought pattern so it will be alot harder to mold their thought process to be able to do silent casting. The reason why silphy even recommends kids at 5 years old is that they still have a free mind that can still be molded. So teaching them will be easier cause kids that age have lots of imagination.
@@LazyDeath666Ya, having the flexibility to think outside the box does seem to be crucial. Rudeus just has a huge advantage in that department by starting with an adult intellect from birth. Plus knowing he's in a different world with different rules naturally encourages him to question and push those boundaries (I call it the "free your mind" effect, after the Matrix).
it's awesome how they emphasized how pretty sylphie is even though she's playing a boy at this moment in the story. as though even if she's dressing the part of a man her beauty isn't easily hidden.
