My favorite part about this season was at the end of it, since it realy shows what's on Rudeus' mind. The thing that cures his E.D. is not the same thing that cures his trauma. His E.D. is cured by a random aphrodisiac, but his trauma was only cured when, next day, after getting out of bed, he sees Sylphy again. Heck, he's terrified when he can't find her at first.
The thing about his trauma is that it wasn't just a fear of intimacy. Rudeus, who spent around 50 years longing for his first time, lost someone dear to him immediatly after doing it. It didn't happen with a random girl, he spent many years traveling with Eris at this point and his feelings for her were genuine. Yeah, he is a degenerate, but at the end of the day he lacked any experience, and having that kind of first time can really mess with a guy's head.
Soft jokes aside, this is unironically one of the most human arcs i've ever seen in anime. it's just a natural human issue that is often not talked about even in real life, let alone in a fantasy anime. It's the kind of problem that you or someone you know might deal with. I'm glad Mushoku Tensei is willing to try these unique ways of storytelling, and i can't wait for the next cour and, hopefully, the next seasons.

When he said the "i dont want to do anything" line that was a real feel. I've been in that headspace of "whats the point of trying" and all that. It's bad. You dont want to die but you don't want to live. You just want time to pass and for everyone to forget about you. You act like you're alright around others just so they don't ask more questions. You dont hate your friends or family but you don't want to burden them by saying you're not doing good. It really really sucks so when that VA gave it all he had when saying that line I almost cried.
Hey, man, hope you're okay. Get help if you need it. My sister committed the S word today and she needed help badly. Get it before something bad happens and your family is left to pick up the pieces.

You good bro?
I've been there too. Feeling like just existing meant being in pain.
Just remember, you can always SD later, but you can never come back to life.
The best advice I can give is take things slowly, but don't stay holed up at home all the time. That'll just get you stuck in your own head. There's no need to do anything special, just keep going to work, school or whatever your daily routine is.
The pain will fade slowly over time and once you feel like you can handle it, talk about what caused this. Either with family, friends you can trust or if you need it, like I did, with a professional.

4 moments of season 2 really personify peak story telling, the suicide scene at 9:50, Rudy's friendship with the rival guild leader after they hated each other, when he meets the Dragon God's accomplice and finally, when he almost went into another psychotic episode before Sylvy returned in the last episode. That was nothing short of magical.
I couldn't agree more
That psychotic episode at the end was a short scene but it was so damn powerful. Same with the suicide attempt
I think you guys mean psychotic episode. A psychic is someone who has mind powers like telepathy.
I'm honestly surprised how little people talked about the suicide scene. Everyone was talking about the ED but for me, the scene with the knife hit real hard. I'm glad they made the shot really short as anything else would have been just soul crushing.
@@dracoslayer16 it was very fast and straight to the point. They gave us respect and assumed we were smart and could read into it instead of drawing it out and explaining it to us and ruining the pacing and the importance. It was such a clean execution. Something many people wish they could've been faster at with someone they loved.
as someone with also a sexual related disorder, i actually really related alot with rudy this entire arc. It’s hilarious to think about but genuinely i started crying when sara walked out on rudy. I’ve had the exact same thing happen to me so many times because of what i have more than i can count. This season was so real to me, and although a piece of fiction, kind of gave me hope for the future. Favorite anime season by far.

Hey man, I hope you get better. Stay strong
Sara was a PoS and Rudy didn’t deserve that treatment. The way I see it, he was fully within his rights to drunkenly voice his frustration. I’m sorry you had to go through this
@@Maddock_ i didn't see Sara as a PoS. She was an immature teen that had a bad first experience. She felt like it was because she wasn't good enough for him to pop one and tried to save her dignity by saying what she said. No one is to blame in that situation, it was just a very unfortunate situation for 2 immature teens. Rudy didn't even know what was going on so that he could explain it to Sara like he did to Sylphy.
Stay strong brother , my blessing with you ❤
hope you find your childhood elf too one day
Great points, I think a lot of people didn't really see how the ED storyline is all about the emotional toll of Eris leaving him. She didn't just leave him to get one with things, she just went and Rudy has no closure or understanding about whether she would come back in a week, a month or never. That kind of depression and anxiety is a palpable feeling that you can't get over and I think the pacing of the show reflected that perfectly. Another great epsiode from Garnt on a brilliant show.
I really disliked how Eris's return was handled in the wn. Hope the LN did at least a bit to remedy that.
I think it's one of those things that's easy to undermine when it's in a fictional show and animated. But in the real world, when stuff like this happens (getting ghosted after sex) even to full grown adults it still hurts like hell, let alone an emotionally stunted kid. People who criticize this season either A: haven't been through this experience, or B: Lack the empathy to really put themselves in Rudeus's shoes
I think you have a point however i look at it the way that Rudy thinks she won't ever come back.
i mean he literally should have understanding that she'll come back... she even says so in her letter he just didn't actually read what it said.

Leave it to Gigguk to come up with a brilliant psychological deduction on a series that has a character with erectile dysfunction.
But seriously, I love Gigguk’s breakdowns like this because he comes up with thoughts I would have never considered in a 100 years. Life is hard, it’s long, it’s not easy, and defeat is always a possibility, even when you have already overcome it before. Idk why but his calm explanation of how this show can mirror life to an almost unsettling degree and how that’s okay really hit a note with me. Thanks Gigguk, keep going my favorite degenerate.
What is brilliant about giving a character erectile dysfunction
That's why he is the GOAT, that's why he is the legendary VA-grant

I always wondered why I loved this show. Now I know, I have not experienced pain like Rudues has, but I have failed, tried to get back up, trying to fix my schedule, exercise, balance everything and then I just kept falling sick or something else came up,uni stuff. It's always hard to get back up, but I have to, it's nice knowing someone else has it like that

That's the beauty of Mushoku Tensei man. It really does show you that despite how much you might hate yourself, you can change for the better and become someone that you can be proud of but you have to put in the effort
I hope you are able to surround yourself with people who see things to like about you that you don't see in yourself.
I've been like that a couple months ago, barely recoverd. I am quite the introvert, but I reached out to people, told them about my troubles, my existential crysis. Colleagues, friends, family. I also did meditation, therapy and read on how to get better - it helped, but opening up to others was by far the most cathartic experience. They've opened up to me in return. I laughed at having though that I was alone feeling like that.
That was me a few years ago. I wish you the best.
I was really heart broken in the start of the arc when rudy got slapped by the blond girl, i was really hoping they would develop into a pair. but by the end of the season i realized he had to go through that experience to find the courage to move on. overall this season was a "slow" season for the series but it sets up a lot and I can't wait for the 2nd part later on!
Sarah was my favorite character. Apparently she wasn't in the original webnovel. It's too bad they couldn't have made her a main character. But atleast I already spoiled myself on future parts of Musho Tensei
You have to feel a bit bad for Sarah, but at the same time she dodged a bullet. If Rudy could not overcome his trauma, all Sarah would find is him trying to use her to fill the void. His feelings for her would never truly be genuine and the relationship would be fated for a much more toxic ending for the both of them had it not ended prematurely.

@@Frozen_Potataoh cmon mate, Sara was pretty good towards the end
7:44 To add to this and this is very important to understand in my opinion when it comes to MT:
Rudeus' main problem in his previous life was that while He did grow up, He did not mature. What I mean by this is his lack of experience in life that collectively result in someone acquiring the wisdom of an adult. In other words pre-isekai Rudeus is the literal definition of a "man-child".
There is actually a good ANN interview with the author where He explains that He had an experience where in his childhood he was really good at something but ended up not pursuing this hobby any further out of fear of losing/not being the best at it. He wanted to quit while he was the best. He ended up regretting this a lot once he grew up...
He then turned this feeling into a story where the MC gives up on everything he is failing at: From hobby like computer science (losing a programming tournament) to going to school (after the bullying incident). And the author wanted to imagine how it would shape a person if He takes this to the extreme.
Write about someone giving up on interacting with people, burn down all bridges and live in isolation for 20 years (between 14 and 34). This is how you get the despicable and creepy MC of Mushoku Tensei. He acts creepy because that is his frame of reference. I mean we are talking about a guy who only interacted with woman through porn games.
He lacks that expeience that healthy people has: First love, doing crazy stuff with friends that you regret later, getting in to a huge fight with your family in your teens... etc.... Things that you look back to later with equal amounts of cringe and nostalgia. That cringe feeling comes from you being mature now.
(Just think of all the things the Trash Taste boys are talking about with cringe, like liking certain anime that was perfectly normal 12 years ago but now its just mid and cringe....)
In other words Mushoku Tensei is a story about a guy growing up for the second time physically and maturing for the first time.
This is why season 2 is so important to the wider story, because it covers that chaotic transition period in everybody's life (roughly between 14-25) where they shed their childhood to attain maturity through their chaotic experiences.
For this reason, season 2, with all of its weird plot points, and Rudeus with all of his flaws, are one of the most important arcs in the entire story.
And it only gets Peak-er from here on out.
P.S. For those who stil did not realize: ED is a thickly laid metaphor to his low self esteem which was the reason he kept giving up on stuff in his previous life.
As someone who doesn't like Rudeus specifically because of his flaws, I appreciate the take and it helped me open my eyes a bit more. Although I still can't stomach the guy, I might pick it back up if bro ever gets decent enough character development.
@@Dangozaki That is a great mindset to treat this show.
Well worded comment. Thank you for taking the time.
SPOILERS FOR THE REST OF MUSHOKU TENSEI SERIOUSLY DON'T READ PAST THIS IF YOU HAVEN'T READ THE LN OR THE WN
For me, the moment Rudy went from being an annoying piece of shit to a character I genuinely liked was when he sees Paul die. It's like the world comes crashing down on him and he realizes the sheer weight of his actions in his previous life, the connection he could've had with his parents, how horrible he was by being a parasite to them and not even showing up to their funeral. He realizes all this just as he realizes he genuinely loved Paul, and it's heartbreaking. I think the most telltale sign of maturity is when someone can look at their past actions and realize how stupid they were, and that's the moment Rudy looked at his entire past life and realized just how much he messed up. It's the tipping point that turns Rudy from someone who barely takes his new life seriously (to the point where he thinks getting to lose his virginity is "good enough" and he can die happy after that) to someone who would not only set the world ablaze for his family, but kneel and beg for them too.

I changed my opinion after a while, but this is why I loved episode 1 of Shield Hero so damn much. Dude gets transported into a fantasy world, assumes like many of us would have that everything is going to go his way in this exciting new world where he's a special hero, and makes some naive oversites because of it. Ultimately ends up at rock bottom with no one to be by his side, and next to zero options, and makes some controversial decisions, because who cares? Everyone already hates him and sees him as a villain, what does he have to lose?
Seems like Shield Hero wasn't the only one attempting to "Rise" through adversity.

I think it's really impressive because even though a lot of isekai came out since, Mushoku Tensei and Re:Zero are still the best isekai in terms of almost everything. God I love these two shows. Can't wait for part 2 of Mushoku season 2 and Re:Zero season 3 🔥🔥.
Have a great day everyone 👍.
Because the characters (especially the main character) are realistically flawed and have actual depth and complexity like real people would. Mushoku Tensei is really good (I'm reading the LN) but in my opinion Re: Zero is still number one. Rudy is a character about the opportunity to have a fresh start and it is amazing, but Subaru is a character about accepting and loving himself despite his failures and his suffering. I think Subaru's development is incredible and incredibly important. Both are crazy good and I wish the rest of the genre had followed their example instead of being corrupted by Sword Art Online and end up filled with Kirito clones. I hate SAO with a passion even though I watched and rewatched most of it when I was young. I just didn't see how bad it was and I guarantee that its influence was what made the fantasy anime of today so saturated with crap.
I always wonder why people blame sao that much when sao even not isekai anime and the genre technically different. In my opinion isekai actually try mimic mushoku, they try to remove controversial part from mushoku and take the only acceptable part from it, but u know amateur writer is amateur writer at the end of the day, no mather how much they mimic good stuff they simply dont have ability to actually write a good stuff.

As a light novel reader, I feel like adopted it very well. Even some of the skips like the dragon fight which I really wanted to see initially. All / most of the characters introduced in this arc are important for the future.
Also it lined up well for the ending, because continueing after where we are now would feel more like a new start then an ending
What i find lacking was how they portrayed Asura in the anime as much more innocent with regards to perversion than what the LN or the webnovel portrayed her to be lol.
Eh, not really, trust me lol.
They already cut a lot of stuff and as a LN reader you feel it.
This cour was really on a thin line on this topic. They kept it well paced but a lot was cut, not enough to be a problem, but still a lot
Im glad you gave the scene of Rudy "almost giving up" that much attention, to me that had one of the biggest impacts mid-season and it spoke volumes.
9:42 this scene made me feel scared, upset and so many other feelings. Truly I felt this was great story telling since I hadn't had that happen watching anything for a while
but personally, i can't connect with the dub as much as with the sub..
Honestly, this arc is a perfect representation of what makes Mushoku Tensei so great. MC isn't The Hero, The Chosen One. Trauma and real problems are handled seriously, and that means people making jokes about it, including bad ones that land horribly. Not everything goes right for the MC. People get hurt. People heal. Other things happen in the world because, guess what, the world doesn't care if you have problems, the world is still going.

Rudues wanting to have a normal happy life results in him not becoming the strongest he could be and thats fine.
The beautiful part of his place in the story of the wider world is that he is temporally nowhere near the epic world-changing events (Teleportation Incident notwithstanding) that the world has faced in the past or is to face in the future.
The only indicators of an epic confrontation coming are the Sacred Beast puppy and Perugius taking his sweet time spawn camping Laplace.
He isn't swept into some world-saving quest or fighting some world-ending peril. He is just living in that world. -No chosen one to aid- ,no dark lord to slay, no grand quest.

While it didn't have as many fight scenes, unlike a lot of shows, season 2 still managed to deliver some great overall character animation during dialogues or simply in general, for exemple, the scene where he tries to kill himself is just so smooth and it really manages to follow the momentum. I feel that sadly, this kind of animation is generally forgotten and lost to the hype of fight scenes, but it's what made this season really look alive to me.
This season was actually alright, the cunny scenes really saved the show. Truly the best plot out there, underage segs go wild!
@@Zero_Li24is this supposed to be sarcasm or what lmao
Thank you for including the clip at 9:38. One of the most powerful moments of the season and it gets overlooked. Soldat went from being a total asshat to being one of the most down-to-earth and steadfast friends Rudy can call on any time. That's the unseen power of Rudy's character growth and impact on the world. Slowing down the pace enough for you to see the small ripples he causes in the world is a refreshing break from the 0-100% pace the first season had. After Eris's departure brought Rudy's emotional development to a complete dead fucking stop, he needed to start with small steps. And in doing so, you see him become a better person (still not a GREAT person, but getting closer to consistently 'good' at least).
Every major development he has with his 'maturity' is usually balanced by a new challenge, and just when you thought Rudy couldn't get lower than post-Eris breakup you watch him reach for that knife thinking "I've really done it now. I've fucked up again just like I fuck up everything else." But even at his new lowest moment, he can still not help but be within arm's reach of SOMEONE he's changed for the better. Even us as an audience are torn up in that moment. My roommate was just muttering "WTF is wrong with you, Rudy?" right as Sarah is revealed, but even after that, when he grabs the knife we still were yelling "Soldat, he's not OK, bro!" And who's there to stop him? This asshole-turned-gigachad.
The real world doesn't operate like a Shounen arc. People regress. Problems don't stay solved. New ones come up and they're harder BECAUSE of the scars left by the previous problem. The story does a fantastic job of showing that sometimes all you can do is keep busy and keep your heart open to change. Stop closing yourself off and be open to help. For the manga readers, this latest chapter is proof that Rudy is learning from his past mistakes, and he wouldn't have been able to do what he did if he hadn't experienced the current entirety of both of his lives. He is truly becoming better than the sum of his parts as he pieces them together into a functional adult.
Somehow, Rudius’s depression after she left him hit me just as hard as the eclipse did in Berserk. They hit mental anguish so well.
Even if people have mixed feelings about ED being a driving factor in the story, IMO Rudy dealing with ED is such a genius move from the author and probably the best thing that could happen to him.
Some people like to accuse MT being wish fulfillment or trying to excuse the horrible behavior from Rudy, while completely ignoring writing decision and story beats that are specifically designed to force Rudy to change.
When Roxy saw Rudy's talent in magic, her confidence took a hit and instead of developing a romance, she left to pursue knowledge to become a better mage.
When Sylphy became too dependent on Rudy, Paul recognized that and shipped him away so both can grow on their own.
When Eris started being more comfortable around Rudy on his 10th birthday, the teleport incident threw them across an entire continent in a new and unknown scenario, where they had no time to become intimate.
When Eris became too dependent on Rudy, Orsted stepped in and forced her to acknowledge that Rudy isn't invincible and can't protect her forever. Showing her that she needs to be strong on her own, leading to her abandoning him.
Now, even after losing his virginity, Rudy isn't celebrating this new W he achieved in his new life. Instead, he needs to deal with abandonment issues, self realization, healthy support system from friends, and fear of intimacy.
*Just* as he reached puberty, the chances of getting laid are ripped away from him for 3 years. In those years he finds new reasons to keep going (finding Zenith and not wasting his second chance at life, instead of sexual gratification).
When he gets into an intimate relationship with Sara, too fast for his own good, his body rejects it and makes him feel worthless.
After joining the university, he finally gets the chance to lead a normal school life, something he lost in his old life. Now he can make actual friends, and even has PLATONIC relationships with women! He even fell in love with a "man", forcing him to realize that a romantic relationship doesn't need to be based on sexual desire!
And ironically, the "climax" of this arc, is not him getting to shoot his load, but instead him being able to have an actual healthy intimate relationship. This is the exact rehabilitation that Rudy needed to get away from the unhealthy habits he formed in his old life and now he can finally become "Rudeus Greyrat"
So the lesson here was Rudy can only get hard for a few underage girls that he loves, not all of them. yea pretty deep. Rudy does not change, the author just could not age the MC(Rudy) and keep the love interests underage. I mean I think even he did not want a 60 year old(95 at that point) dude still going for underage kids without breaking the story.

Man I binged Season 2 yesterday for the first time and it's near perfect. I was smiling from ear to ear at the end of S2. Like you say, it's so realistic at times that nothing else feels like it.
I'm only about halfway through season 2. What I think I like best about this anime is that you can see glimpses of the person Rudeus could become, and the anime doesn't usually let him get away with bad behavior consequence-free. There have been times when the knowledge of the fact that he would suffer consequences was the only thing that kept me watching, though. I think part of what makes this show so difficult to watch is how unflinching it is in showing us the bad side of our main character. We usually don't like that unless it's part of their depression/led astray arc.

"without even trying to" Well, to be fair, Gigguk does explicitly say in the video that his intent is to convince people to watch season 2, haha. Still, seeing a LN or manga come to life in a well-crafted, animated production is easy to underestimate. When an adaptation is good, it can elevate the source material to all new levels of greatness due to the added voice acting, music, fluid motion, and expressive facial animations.
even if the pace is slow every episode feels like it lasts 5minutes. The world is so well built you feel immerse into it after 2min of episode
This season was about a dude struggling with ED, and yet it was more memorable and impactful than the entirety of Demon Slayer and JJK. Let that sink in
0:14 Of course it is Trevor who would have this type of skit to use here.
Watching the video while reflecting on the second season made me realized that Rudy's ED is the symptom, the root cause is abandonment and trust issue. The underlying problem he had was his first time partner (of total of probably 40+ years including his previous life) left him. Eris was someone he trusted whether in terms of combat, supporting each other, and most importantly emotionally. However, Eris left looking like she dump him (especially to Rudy). So his abandonment issue rise again including his previous life when he punched his friend and that friend didn't show up again. He was lonely for about 20-30 years at once. Finally having someone he can trust again only to be abandoned again. Then he met Sara but right when he could try trusting someone again his symptom kicks in and got rejected because Sara took Rudy's (lack of) "performance" personally. On top of that, he fucked up by running his mouth at the wrong time and place. He just needed someone who will always be by his side. Not taking it personally when he couldn't perform and is willing to simply accept and work with him. That's why Sylphy is the perfect person to fix his root cause (abandonment/trust issue) and his symptom (ED).
I'm not afraid to share this but, I had ED and performance issues as a side-effect of some medications I was taking for a while. And I think they did a great job touching on how it really feels to be in that situation.
I saw my fair share of negative reviews on Season 2 and just laughed because every single one of them misses the point. Mushoku Tensei is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a normal isekai or even a typical story. Even in the world of high literature, it is rare to run across a truly good story that paces itself well...one that draws you completely into the protagonist's world and has you invested in the journey when you'd normally hate them IRL or at least find them reprehensible.
Mushoku Tensei does all of this extremely well, and for that I'll always be grateful that it exists.
Mushoku tensei season 2 feels like season one with a worse story and with worse animation. Also rudeus is being weird and creepy as fuck this season even weirder and creepier than last season
Understanding narrative doesn't seem to be your strong point, Kimetsu no Yaiba seems to have understood that the average consumer only likes action and light shows
Its just real, that's all you can say. This is quality storytelling with actually written characters and I weep for anime fans that are still too immature to see just how incredible this series is. Rudy really is growing before our very eyes and while ED is certainly a fun punch line to repeat, the growth that simple, real, situation gave our character is everything. Its just good shit no matter how you slice it.
I'll be honest, I barely made it through jujutsu kaisens' beginning it was so utterly, incredibly and unbelievably mid, I can't deal with an entire season of that after getting used to endless action like what people say the first season was
Maybe, but I cannot stand it at all, it’s so weird and creepy to watch, no offense, but watching him be weird with children like every episode is not fun to watch, even if he did essentially hide himself away, generally people know not to go after children when they’re like 30+, barely watched s1 and a bit of s2 and I already know I won’t be watching the rest, just too hard to watch.
@@kitzune2392 This is such an asasine take that I keep seeing. He was reborn from the very beginning regardless of his mental state. Of which I would even argue is more juvenile than any other character in the show. He never was an adult and that's the entire point, and if you are gonna sit there and tell me this show promotes pedophilia-- than you clearly aren't paying attention. They handle it surprisingly well by going out of their way to show how emotionally immature he is. The fact that he has an older mind, literally--means nothing when both his body and mental state are that of a child. So I'm sorry you, and others can't understand this very basic, fictional, concept, but don't sit there and try to tell me it's inappropriate storytelling. Grow up.

I love this show and I think I always will. The show just feels so raw and unfiltered that a lot of anime and shows can't really get away with or just have some other incentive to appeal too. And I love it that way, I dont want it to be some up beat, moe, isekai. I want it to be what it is now just something that a real person (good or bad) would do in a situation
Thanks for confirming that I'd still hate the show at least. Show has fantastic art and animation and is just pretty decent all round (I still think its world building is nothing special), so I get how people can think it's good, but my god, Rudeus may be the worst character of all time. The very idea of people liking him, let alone, relating to him depresses and disturbs me. Maybe he has some sort of redemption at some point, I wouldn't know (don't think I even managed to finish all of season one). Regardless, I will always maintain he deserves nothing but the worst. Forever.
It’s a Isakai where see him from birth to death into his 70s.
He doesn't, the story isn't about redemption, it's about showing how if someone tries even a pedo like rudy can get themselves a better life.
My problem with this lies with his betterment only coming from the forces of the universe aligning the stars and allowing him to be reborn as a standard OP protagonist (maybe better done than some MC's from trashier shows but still). It feels like everything's handed to him on a platter, makes a lot of the moments that are supposed to be impactful ring painfully hollow.
@@TheThebigice Is about having a better and he isn’t a pedo. People just throw that word around. He simply deals with those the age of his new life. You talk like when he 20 he trying to talk to 10 year olds or something.

In his new life he has yet to let any of the children he's touching on know he's an adult in a grown man's body. So he's a pedo.
If you have some evidence to show he is not a pedo I would be happy to hear it.
Do you have any evidence he is not attracted to girls with pre-pubescent traits? And would be repulsed by media that depicts characters/persons with those traits as sexual?
Mushoku Tensei season 2 sucked so badly. In 5 episodes we only got what should have been 1, the anime has never been of the top isekais, but this new season is out right garbage.
Depends on what you expected. Most other Isakais are just power fantasies. This is a character driven story and Rudy is at the core of it.
@@terencebarnes7393 All freaking stories are character driven... And funnily enough this one is also a fantasy story🤣But if i'm wrong i would love you to further explain yourself, with acual examples of your statement.
@@oliver-nation4377 I would say most Isakais there just concept. The gimmick of the Isakai is what drives it. Look at slime he supposed to be the a weak monster but some how the strongest. He not an actual character he has no flaws becomes the strongest in 3 years. He has a computer in his mind that solves everything. As much as I like Slime there zero tension.
Overlord basically the same minus the computer in his mind to fix everything.
Yea Rudy is very strong but he balanced he can’t cover himself in mana to protect him or make himself stronger, like with Eris. A good swordsman can beat him pretty handily even now if they can get the jump on him.
With MT you literally watch him become a man. He was super immature early in the story. You see them grow as people. This whole arch was him building himself back up and forming new relationships.
@@terencebarnes7393 I will give you that in a lot of Isekais they make the mk brokenly strong, but at least the animes somewhat makes sense. The decisions that Rudy takes are down right stupid, this isn't because that makes him relatebell, it's because the studio got 0 sense of what human decisions are.
Number two. When you think of the greatest Isekais of all time you think of: The Rising of the Shild Hero and I'm a Slime so what.
Shield hero got a compelling story with great animation, where Slime got somewhat of a funny and great animation style, where Tensei comes far from being a beautiful animation, and since the people in the story + the mk are constantly choosing the most illogical pahts it just adds of for the worse.
Number three. In Shield Hero and Slime, the pacing is at least also fast, so we are getting a lot of story quickly, where Tensei takes way too long to explain way too simple humetarien nature, but when it comes to the illogical, then there is no explaination. This is why the greatest animes, like Attack on Titan and Edgerunners has fast pacing.
Fourth. Why would they make a fat loser the mk? It's so hard to relate to some loser that is unable to even get a simple job or hell get out of his fat ass. (This fourth one might be over the line, but i'm tired of fat #### that aren't able to do anything and only complains.)

i remember reading up to date a few years ago, and seeing the ED arc, for some reason i didnt think it would be as debated as it is now. While it is a bit of a stereotypically goofy event, when I was reading it, it felt like it became less funny and more emotional after some time. While the ED was the main thing, there were so many other things along the way that mattered, as well as the genuine feeling and emotional affect. Weird to say maybe, but after watching the anime and some time went on in my life since reading, I could relate on an emotional level even if im not sir floppy pen15 myself. More so just the actual struggle internally just felt so real and weirdly important. It felt motivational to see trauma being dealt with like that.
I really like season 2. The pure focus on Rudy having to deal with all the trauma he's collected, and his ED being a physical symptom of it finally built up too much.
im just kinda mad we had to take a break for part 2 of season 2 in jjk for a month and its a week is mushoku tensei and then I remembers that the mushoku tensei animators actually see their families and I quickly stopped complaining to myself
Iv been browsing your channel today for some idea on what to watch next as I just finished Mushoku Tensei last night. What a Journey it was. I hope I can find something to fill that void till season 3.
After we saw the true Soldat, I started thinking he was so arrogant because he has experience. He doesn't want novice adventurers dying out there. It was an act to try and keep him from having to hear about noobs dying for a little longer maybe.
I want to point out this is the only anime that has made me want to read the manga and then proceeded to read the entire light novel. And holy there is a lot of light novel to read. Makes me exited for future arcs
5:20 Ok I was fully expecting this joke and it still hit like a truck.
I was honestly happy with the animation, and considering what part of his story they adapted, and what we got is perfectly enough as far as animation goes and its quality, and in terms of story, what I love about Mushoku Tensei is that it gives us time to get to know these characters and to understand them more, which I love, and whether we want to admit it or not, each of us can find ourselves in similar situations as our main character, in our past or present (and of course I'm talking about emotional and psychological challenges, none of us can use magic or fight dragons).
I was satisfied with my experience of watching anime continuation of the story, and I can't wait to see the further continuations of this story.
honestly i loved this arc becuase of what it did to Rudeus in being this great last stage for his emotioanl growth.
In his past life he was alone, partially becuase of rejection by others, partially because of his own refusal to try and build any human connections, suddenly he's thrown into new world with a loving family and later mentor in roxy and he has to learn how to step out of his comfort zone and make real connections with people, which he does for the first time with the timid Sylphie, then later is emotionally mature enough to help his fmaily not fall apart, and his reward for achiving this level of emotional maturity? He gets to move to level 2.
Now with the greatrats, he's in a much more difficult situation, Eris is about as unlike Sylphie as you can get, she's a force of personality and the support he does get is far less unconditional. Yet he succeds in learning to live with Eris and the Greyrats, becoming a valued memeber of the household, even to Eris' mother who had once despised him. His reward for ths personal growth? A swift teleportation to the demon continent with Eris for level 3.
Now the only support Rudy has is in other damaged incomplete people and the challenge he faces is literrally life and death as they try to get back from the demon continent. It's the toughest and most emotionally challenging part of the journey and his reward for doing it and fianlly returning home is to sleep with the one person who has stuck with him the longest, the person who grounds him emotionally, achiving his highest high, before being flat abandoned by her and crashing him down to his lowest point. This is the start of level 4.
Rudy has nothing and nobody going into this season, ghislane left with Eris, he left his reamining family behind to get eris home, rujierd is gone, the greyrats are deposed, he hasn't seen roxy or sylphie for years. He has to rebuild everything from the ground up with no support and he sucks at it. Even when people offer him help he turns it down, more scared of rejection than lonliness, and then when he begins to trust just a little again he ruins it all for himself once more. This season is about him recovering from that, from the absolute rock bottom and i love it.
"the absolute rock bottom" in terms of what he has at his disposal, but not in terms of his disposition. It gets worse.
Reading the LN, that's a theme: whenever he is utterly alone in both a real and figurative sense, he is at his most vulnerable and sapped of his strength.
In this, he is most alone after Eris leaves him. The next moment is when he realizes he's clumsily destroyed the connections he's spent nearly a year building to support any kind of recovery and he can't even bear the thought of it, prefering to end it right there. Soldat is the first pair of hands that picks him up before he falls in that hole. Elinalise does her part passing him along. Even Hitogami supports him to move along. But the hands that got him to finally stand are Sylphy's.
But when *that* time comes, he will _feel_ alone. More alone than he could ever have imagined.
Shows like Mushoku Tensei prove to me at least that what so many people say about Isekai not being able to hold its own in anime, and only comparing Isekai amongst other Isekai, is such bullshit. Some Isekai are top tier in overall anime in my opinion. Re:Zero and Mushoku Tensei are so story rich and their main characters are so down to Earth and believable compared to so many shows, and the issues they face aren't always realistic, but the small issues that they overcome are what make them respectable and lovable.

Sylphie is peak Femininity and I will die on that hill. God I love season 2, plan on watching it again.
I will launch cannons off my hill saying Holo from Spice and Wolf carries that title.
Well considering his ED is the biggest reason he goes to the Academy it makes sense that it was a central issue. It helped him reunite with Slyphie who helped him deal with many of his issues
Im surprised noone mentioned how a whole side character (Luke) is brought into the spotlight in the ED arc. Up to this point he was pretty much a boring douche that hated Rudy for no reason, but when Slyphie brings up his ED problems and a girl makes fun of it, my man Luke immediately stands up for Rudy.
No man deserving of respect would let that slide, but him choosing to help slyphie in spite of not approving of her new husband is another level. Luke went from a background douche to an absolute baller in 1 episode.
*The author uses ED to make you like a character*

Look, Gigguk, I was inclined to agree with you. I really was. I loved the first season, and its ending justified how off-putting Rudeus was, hinting at development. In the same vein, the start of season 2 was spectacular. Rudeus was nowhere near as bad as he once was, showing how he developed, and was now dealing with a very human and relatable emotion: the fear of rejection.
This was all trully great, and I honestly would've defended this story and Rudeus' arc... if not for episode 7.
That was just...indefensible. That was Rudeus on his absolute worst behavior yet, no one calls him out for it, the whole seriously gross situation is entirely played for laughs, AND he gets rewarded for being awful

@@for4thwind264 Perhaps I'm misremembering the episode number?
I'm talking about the episode where he gets angry over his figurine of Roxy being broken by the two kemono girls (a statue he can easily repair in seconds), goes on to kidnap them, forcefully fondles their boobs in order to see if he can get boner, leaves them there tied to furniture for hours only to then come back and realize they've pissed themselves, says that's enough "punishment" and by the end the booby kemono girls are inexplicably his friends who joke around about boob fondling while Sylphie, who witnessed the whole of it, doesn't stop for even a second to wonder if maybe Rudeus isn't such a nice guy after all.
EDIT: Indeed, I misremembered, it was episode 7. Edited my original comment to reflect that.
@@Funchal99 I think your assessment is a bit harsh. Granted I also read the ln, which goes into more depth about basically everything, but the twins were bullying everyone, including Zanoba, which really pissed off Rudeus, given his experience with bullys in the past. That, plus the fact that they smashed a figure of his "god" set him off enough to confront the two directly.
As for the twins cozying up to him afterwards, there are a couple reasons for this. First of all, at least for the logic of the mushoku tensei universe, Rudeus didnt do anything that bad. Sure he fondled the girls breasts, which is cringe, but in this world this action is probably the more tame actions he could have done, especially given that the extent of their "punishment" was being tied up for a while and getting painted on. It feels weird to defend Rudeus on this part, but the fact that is the worst he did, combined with he fact the girls could smell that he didnt have any nefarious intentions in that action does explane some of it.
The other part is that the beast people respect strenth, and rudeos pretty well demonstraited that he is capable. That plus knowing Gyes and training under Ghislaine gives him more respect in their eyes.
Personally, I really like Mushoku Tensei, and I loved watching Rudeus go on his journey, so its sad to me when I see that someone else was put off by something that I value. I can see why Rudeus's action put people off, but if you take anything away from my waffling, its that you should give Rudeos a second chance, maybe look over the episode again. But im just some guy on the internet arguing about an anime, so take from this what you will.
@@Funchal99 you can't beat the fans lad, they will die on that hill
From a purely writing and story point of view, Mushoku Tensei is probably one of the best anime in the Fantasy genre, tied with Re:Zero (With Re:Zero personally being my favorite of the two)
re zero used to be my nr1 fiction, but arc 7 made me lose all interest in it. pretty hard to remember the good shit when you have like 10 volumes in a row of mediocrity with subaru as a fucking infant and new side characters that you dont give a shit about instead of using the characters that got developed for 6 arcs prior
@hidetakamiyazaki1825name them, I am genuinely curious also when the elden ring dlc comes out bruh. (imma beat yo ass for the new londo ruins and thombs of giants in ds1)
@hidetakamiyazaki1825please name some
@@dorianpompa8409Bad take Arc 7 is best arc.
Season 2 is so bad, they paid Gigguk to fix show's reputation.
I tried the anime. I have to admit that all the weird moment about "pants" / "sexual harrassement" and other moment where the protagonist touch a women without her consent made me very angry/awkward. It's disturb me even more when I see that the anime use this kind of moment like a "gag"... I know it's japan, but sometimes i feel anxious with the idea that some kid will watch this and be like "So funny".
They've been doing this for decades, it's not their fault you only started watching anime yesterday
@@luksalter8200 Ho but I am used to watch anime. In fact, it's because I I watched ton of anime that I begin to be really disturbed by this. Maybe it's time to change the mindset and be more careful to the value that you want to share ? Especially if you doing that for decade. Yes, willpower is good, friendships is really important... But sexual harassment ?
I feel sad because I love the anime and their diversity and complexity. And unfortunately, they are a lot of anime that I can't recommend because of ecchi and not acceptable scene.
@@infermatt7118 no,i dont want It to chance because i like the way that It is,If you are distubed by the content, simply dont watch it.
If you can't recommend anime because of the elements present in it then the problem is you and your friends, this the same argument of the conservative mom that doesnt want her children to watch violent and "satanic" things

That's Fair
As someone who deals with extreme anxiety and agoraphobia irl, I related to season 1 a lot. In particular when he leaves home for the first time. That scene will never not make me cry lol.
I haven't watched season 2 yet but honestly considering his background be before he got isekaid, the ED thing seems pretty on brand. From what I understand ED can be caused by two things, blood flow issues (this usually happens as people get older, but not always), but also I've heard it can also happen to people who have bad anxiety.
I'm paused on this video right now because I want to avoid spoilers, but I just wanted to say, one of the things I like about Rudy's character and the show in general, is that who Rudy was before coming the the fantasy world still matters and effects him a lot. Considering the "over coming" anxiety scene was so impactful and is still one of my favorite scenes in anime, im personally pretty stoked to see season 2 (pp jokes and all!)
Re-zero >
Even re:zero fans have already admitted that the quality of the story declines as the arcs progress.
@@luksalter8200 What’s the got to do with judging the two season we’ve got with both. The anime of Re-zero so much better
@@Buster_Blitz the what ? Can you write your arguments appropriately ?
I love the fact that I learn all the anime about without being spoiled anything when watching Gigguk. Well done.
did you change the title and thumbnail of ths vid? I couldve sworn the vid was named smth like: why mushoku tensei is still a peak reincarnation anime or smth like that.
Probably for algorithm performance reasons
damn i notice that too
He does that to almost every video

@@Hyvexx Could be.
the problem with this season was that it didn't live up to what it was before, its perfectly fine for him to have erectile disfunction. but fuck me, every character in the past arc had SOME role, SOME story, SOME background, SOME purpose...
now they did just some classic half assed rom - com isekai, and it showed that even at that they failed, the characters that are in that school/university of magic ARE SO FODDER, they're there just so that the place dont look empty, but it still feels that way cause it actully is fodder.
That's because they cut Sylphie's story in the anime. The light novel shows more of Sylphie's life, mentions things that happened at the castle, and shows the journey to Ranoa (which was brutal since assassins were sent to deal with Ariel at the border and only a few people from Ariel's group survived). It also shows how Linia and Pursena were the top delinquents at the university (with a gang of beastfolk in tow) and how they clashed with Ariel's group when the latter arrived at the university (Ariel needed them put in their place, so Sylphie basically kicked all of their asses). The characters that feel underdeveloped/underused in the anime simply had a bigger role in Sylphie's story.
One of the things that has shaped me way more than I thought about before. Was the fact that when I was like in 5th grade my friends hanged with eachother out of school but didn’t invite me. It was just kids being stupid but it still hurts me to this day.
Do people actually like me? Do people actually wanna hang out with me?
These thoughts hurts so much as I know the people in my life at the moment love and care about me.
This video is just more than an anime review. It's a life lesson. I needed that.
The fact that it was never played for laughs and written seriously from beginning to end is such master-class storytelling
Anyone who's read the LN knows HOW MUCH there is yet to come. I just love this whole story and how far it goes still is just mad. We're not even 15% through the source material yet lol
