    I found a LOT of people try to sell their bikes for a lot more than they're actually worth on craigslist, at least they do where I'm at. $2k for a bike that's 30 years old? You crazy!! I found that crap EVERYWHERE and it's ridiculous. I found a 82 Kawasaki KZ1100 w/22k miles for $1,000, and that is what the bike was actually worth because it was in great condition mechanically and visually.

    I've been trying to live beneath my means for years. I've spent the last few years living in expensive ass cities and barely getting by.
    It sucked walking and riding the bus, but I absolutely refused to get a credit card and get into debt.
    In a few hours I'm about to get my first bike. A 2014 CBR500R for 4,000 straight cash. After I get some decent gear, I'll be tapped though.
    Still. It's mine. No payments, no borrowing. That shit is a trap.
    Now I gotta learn how to ride it. 😅
    Thanks CycleCruza, your vids convinced me to finally get a bike after so many years of hesitation.

    Scooter's such a hurtful word! I prefer to call my PCX "automatic bike" and in London traffic I leave any manual superbike stuck way behind, revving hysterically, blocked as they become by lorries and buses. :-) Now, that really is fun.

    Old vid but hell yes i saved my income tax and searched for a good deal...I got my 97 cbr600 f3 for 800$ from a co-worker. It runs great looks great and I love it. I saved for it and made sure I could afford to spend the cash before I pulled the trigger. The bike is a great all around bike. Its not a brand new bike but it runs like one. Thanks for the great content CC!

TOTALED and sitting in my yard... i'm still in pain, broke as shit, and my sanity is dwindling sitting at home watching snow fill my driveway. i'm 18 years old, feel 50, have no friends, and i'm ready to die.

    Just bought a 99 GSX R750 for real cheap on Craigslist two weeks ago. Amazing bike kept garaged since 2007, the guy kept immaculate maintenance records records since 2007. It had some issues, but I bought the parts off Ebay for $135 and installed them myself. Probably would have cot me $1800 to get it fixed at a shop.

    There are plenty of super sport bikes out there cheap. I just picked up a 2000 gsxr 600 for 1600$. It was posted for 2500. I offered 2k and he was down. He told me the tires needed changing so I told his 2k was all I had and would have to take the tire cost out. So after new tires and a battery and a system check I had a good looking gsxr with 2000$. On old bikes, if buying online, the pictures don't seem to look as good as the bike does in person. I get compliments everyday on mine and its 15 years old. For sure, take it to the shop for a check before u fork over the cash

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Cheap! It could be a good deal, I would have it checked out by a mechanic. You need to run a compression check, check for leaks, make sure electrical system is good, etc. You will need to know exactly what condition it's in which cannot be done just by looking at it. Best of luck!

    hey cyclecruz, i think the problem most people are facing when spending 60-80 dollars for a checkup is that they dont know if they are going to get the bike for sure.
    Obviously most of those spending a few grand on a used bike are new riders without much money, having to spend 60-80 in a meetup with the buyer does not seem really practical unless the buyer is willing to cover the cost.

      When u meet someone to buy the bike, inform them that u would like to meet at a shop when u look at and possibly purchase the bike. If looking at photos gets u interested enough that after a check up, you would be willing to buy, tell the seller that your gonna buy but only after it's been inspected. I always tell the seller that I'll pay for the shop to inspect it but if there are problems that are being hid, the seller would pay shop instead. If it's a good bike and the seller is honest, they will have no problem with that.

      I by no means, taking a shot or making jokes but if this is your first bike, you do not meet to buy a big sport bike to handle your weight. The bigger the cc's, the bigger the bike. So a cbr 1000 will hold your weight better but it's also very dumb and extremely dangerous for a beginner to start on a 1000. I would consider a cruiser or a sport touring bike if it's the look of the bike you want. I know u dint want to hear this but if you are dead set on a super sport and your new to the game, loosing weight is required. If it's just the speed you want, a cruiser has plenty of power and will blow away any of the beginner sport bikes and can carry your weight better. Best of luck to you but without experience, a sportbike is not the bike u should be on. A 600 is going to be very uncomfortable to you bring suck a big dude and not fun to ride. A 250 or 500 starter bike is too small for u by a lot. Maybe get a cool cruiser just till you get really good at riding and then go to a 1000 super sport

    Everyone should take this advice with a grain of salt. The purchase of an older bike is one thing but insuring it and yourself along with maintenance is another thing. Some bikes are too old to reasonably maintain. To is due to scarcity of parts and availability of technicians with enough familiarity.

    I kind of agree with you about avoiding financing but sometimes financing can be a better option, especially for home ownership. Since theres inflation in the economy homes act as assets which change with the "price" of the dollar.. So if you leave money in your bank account it could actually be losing value versus if you spent it on something else.. Really depends on interest rates for loans too though

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lolatyou332 There are other investment opportunities for your savings that are safe but yet earn higher interest than regular brick and mortar bank. Also ,you forgot to factor in the interest you will be paying the bank for that loan. Also, you don't own your house, the bank does until you pay off the loan! lol

      My girl picked up a great little ninja 250 that runs and looks great for 2000. It's the cheaper of the choices you listen but it's still nice expecially to learn on. Look into the cbr 550. You can get a 2012 and up sometimes as low as 3000 or so. I only say this because a 250 is great to learn on but you will want a upgrade after not very long. The cbr550 is another great starter bike that isn't a rocket but it's got enough power that you might be happy with it forever. Good luck

A 2013 Fat Boy was US52,000! I am not BS'n you. It is absolutely ridiculous. So, I will not by my new bike until I return to the US. Here, people finance bikes and cars for 9 years! @JIMMY0GRAY 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      If I were you, in my opinion, there are better options for that amount. It's almost a new bike because the low miles but u can find the same make and model bike with 15000 miles(give or take) for quit a bit less. Of course 400 miles isn't shit but if u could save around 2-2500$ buying one with 15000 miles, I would do it. It sounds like they are getting as much as they can reasonably get but honestly 15000 or so miles ain't shit either so I'd look for a better find. It's worth what they want but u can do better for ur money. Is the cbr, the bike u want or did the deal just interest u?

    I think vehicle such as motorbike in the US are pretty affordable. Try country like singapore or china . motorcycle are super expensive.
    In singapore u need to pay for a cerfitation for a motorcycle which is around 7500 SGD ( around 6000 USD) this doesn't include the price of the motorcycle itself. A small 150cc scooter or a street bike will cost 13000 to 15000 SGD in total. (Around 12000 USD)
    Well. It doesn't stop me for getting a motorcycle though. Lol

    If you know basic bike maintenance, there are tons of old Ninjas, Nighthawks, Vulcans, SV-650s. etc out there that can be had plenty cheap. My most expensive bike cost $2100 cash. Is it a Fireblade? Hell no. Love it to death? Yup. And my shit '93 Nighthawk 750 is still good for 3.8 seconds to 60. :)

      Another way to flip older bikes for a nice profit is to look into wrapping the bike. Of course it's gotta run nice or it won't sell. I sold a 2003 gsxr 600 for almost double my money and I only habit posted for 1 day. I bought it for 2200 and paid 600 for for a custom wrap that you can design whatever you want, then sold it for 4000. It's a easy process and looks great. I did this 2 times width other bikes and in a Sumer, I took 2k cash, bought a bike, then kept wrapping, then selling until I turned my $2k 2002 gsxr600 into a $7k 2013 gsxr 600. Check into it sometime

    Insurance? I don't even have motorcycle insurance, it's not required in Montana. Great advice though, I totally agree. Pay cash in hand, but private party with a mechanic inspection, and be patient, and you'll find great deals. I paid only 4k for a 2005 Yamaha R1 with only 5300 miles and it even came with a 2 piece leather set that fits. Stay out of debt slavery! Great videos keep making more!

      +prairie wanderer That's what I thought too, but I'm telling you that liability insurance is not required for motorcycles in the state of Montana as well as a couple other states. A quick google search will tell you this is true. Someday I'll get full coverage though just in case I crash my bike.

      As soon as I typed that I figured I was probably going to be wrong, lol. Was in a hurry and didn't check. But, you're right, it's not required. My apologies.
      Now, what's going to happen if you're riding your motorcycle and cause damage to another's property (where you are at fault) for example you ride into the side of a vehicle. Who's liable for that damage? An even simpler scenario: you park your bike in a public place and it falls over and damages someone else's property, or even injures someone. Unless Montana has some weird laws on the topic, you have a lot of exposure. Maybe they're covered under a regular motor vehicle liability policy. Interesting.

    I buy used everything. Then take it to be inspected to my mechanic for a full 30 point or more inspection for a small fee. Let some other poor sap buy a factory brand new vehicle and MSRP the thing through most of the value depreciation period. Then wait until he sells the motorcycle at a steal.
