    nice vids, and i like to share my opinion on mods stuff. I won't talk about power commander cause I never use it before and now, but I'd like talk about electrical system of anyone bike.
    1st. DO NOT modify original wire! Modify original wire such splice, cut, soldering it sometime can void your bike warranty. If you need to create branch or splice to light some of your stuff, find the match socket/molex for that connector, there bunch on internet where you can find exact match for the socket. create branch from that socket so you don't need splice original wire.
    2nd. DO NOT join wire with original wire, if you need to light up new heavy system such put HID and Pro-G lighting then place new wire directly to the battery. Original wire not supposedly to handle such weight, one HID ballast consume about 35Watt while your original headlamp doesn't use such weight. And if you use that original wire to light-up more than they're supposed to, the wire can melt and sort which will lead to fire and burn your bike.
    3rd. Modification on electrical should be split on different wiring (like I describe on #2) and remember "ALWAYS" put fuse.
    4th. DO NOT exceed your bike battery regulator capacity. If you exceed this, your bike will not charge your battery and you end up with death battery to start your bike with. Because the regulator will supply for your mods stuff not charging your battery.
    5th. DO NOT keep your cellphone/gps charger connected while your bike idle and the connection directly to your main battery. Cellphone charger consume about 1Watt electrical. If you have 4Ah battery, then it will have juice for 48Wh, leaving your cellphone charger for 2 days still intact will make your battery dead (out of juice). So, make sure you disconnect all gadget that consume power before leaving your bike. If you always forgot about this, then get a relay and join with turn key, so when you turn the key on, the relay on, and charger on, or when turn key off, the relay off and cut power to your charger.
    6th. LED might look small but it still consume power, use LED as necessary it needs and don't make your bike like Christmas tree. Use a long strip LED (even you cut it into several inches), I can use up to 10W power. So use LED strip wisely.
    I think that's all, hope this can help newbie when decide modify their bike electrical.

    Doing mods, lots of which use electricity is one of the things that makes motorcycles so enjoyable. I have an alarm system, HIDs, used to have GPS, will get angel eyes soon etc. and I haven't had any issues yet.

    I have power commander on all my bikes and quads. If anything it will increase engine life in the long run. Proper tune on the bike with a exhaust is important. Never had one issue with any of my power commanders.

  • @mike216ism
    @mike216ism 8 ปีที่แล้ว +51

    You actually have no idea what your talking about. Do you know how many people have power commanders installed in them with no issues at all. My 2005 gsxr 1000 has had a power commander III for 37,000 miles and counting. It's been professionally mapped by MPH (motorcycle performance handling). Forums are not a good place to hear professional advice. Ask professionals for advice on power commander reliability. Your slamming mods because you choose not to have them. How long have you even had a sport bike. I'm 40 and have been riding sport bikes since I was 18. Do proper research before slamming extremely well know and reliable mods like power commander!

    The key is to have your power commander tuned on a dyno by professionals. If you do this you'll be fine and as reliable as stock. If you add a pipe and don't buy a power commander and have it tuned you might as well throw your money away. I'm not sure I know anyone who doesn't have a PC on a sport bike. Seems like everyone I've ran across and know have had a great experience

  • @CycleCruza

    @Ben M - Just don't splice into any stock wires, usually the grips just connect to the battery like the ones I have. Just make sure to hook up a battery tender when you get done riding. AME heated grips cut off if the battery falls below 12.5 volts, you might want to consider getting these grips: amzn.to/1zGD6ht

    One thing to keep in mind if you get a power commander or any sort of EFI tuner, is to get the bike professionally dynoed. I know many people who have power commanders and other EFI tuners are not one of them has had any negative issues whatsoever. I'm sure there are one-offs but then again you can say that with anything. The main thing over here, is to make sure that you have everything professionally done. I don't think messing with the electrical or the fuel mapping is a do-it-yourself hack.
    It's worth a couple of extra bucks to pay a professional mechanic who specializes in dyno tuning. Now I'm not talking about going to the local shop and having them do this. One should do their homework first, and research a shop that specializes in dyno tuning.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I'd rather have a basic bitch to keep me riding then a tricked out bitch that can have you kicking rocks on the side of the road. lol Stock power is way more than riders need on the streets anyways, maybe if I was racing for a bucket of cash at the track I'd mod it, otherwise, stock is good for the basic joe riders. A basic bitch for a basic joe. lol

    • @JordanReedYT
      @JordanReedYT 9 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      CycleCruza
      Its true that stock power is all that you need, but everyone should want something that represents them and on your bike becuase riders now have a whole slew of options.
      I believe that everyone should try to make their bike aesthetically pleasing more so than the OEM. Riders should change the color, get a more audibly pleasing exhaust, get some LEDs and tuck all of those outstanding turn signals, replace the OEM levers, sets, and grips, or even throw some lights on your bike just to make it stand out and also safer if you get caught out in the dark. Just the little stuff.

    As stock as possible?! ROTFL! Wrenching on my bikes myself for 16 years is half the fun. Right now im riding a 08 busa with a list of mods as long as the list I already have. Including a 330 6" strech outside drive, PC V, Brocks alienhead full exhaust, Custom dynamics orange LED's, K&N air filter, upgraded capacity radiator (Florida is hot), chrome rims, mirror block offs, throttle lock, cell phone mount, custom peg mounted plate w/orange lights 4 the popo. Must I keep going? Next up to bat im eyeballing gatorskin seats and getting my pegs powdercoated flat black instead of the stock silver, then changing my triple tree and grips because the stock rubber grips are absolutely worn out by all the riding ive done without any problems... just saying...

      Northern California(San Francisco) has very clean air quality. Much higher than cities in Germany or Paris for example. The regulations really do create an impact. The Euro spec internal combustion engines run considerably more dirty. It is the air you breath so the less hp is much more worth it. However motorcycles do not get tested for PPM of pollution. So you can run the same mapping the rest of the world does. Not really a big deal.

    I spent some time and money finding a place that excels on supersport bikes. I would not trust just anyone with a brand new R1, not my dealer anyway. Most of the crap that I am shedding on my bike is for emission laws in this country. I did the PC, Autotune, smog block offs, servo removal, air filter and Yoshi Alpha TI 3/4. Just make sure you understand the PC software and how to tweak those #'s, or you CAN fuck up your bike if it runs too lean or something. Cruza is right on that. I just uploaded my first Autotune custom map update, taking it out now for a test. .

    Yes. you are absolutely right. I installed a tre in my 04 gsxr and it cost me a knee. Had surgery and never been the same. However my power commander never gave me an issue. when I sold a 06 gsxr 1k, I had a tre to install and the guy refused it stating that they can cause throttle to get stuck. Now I have another 06 1k gsxr, and I'm getting ecu flashed and power commander. Point is to use reputable products and services.

    Most breakdowns are actually fairly dumb. i.e. running out of fuel. I also never go anywhere with out a tyre repair kit. Other things you may want to not ride without are; mobile phone (with contact numbers for breakdown, etc), an emergency battery pack to jump start your bike or keep your phone topped up, a thermos flask of fuel, and a small set of essential tools.

    It's exactly the same as tuning a carburetor. Think of it like this.
    One dial is your air/fuel ratio
    One dial is your primary
    And the next is your secondary
    It doesn't take a genius to tune a fuel management system.

    It is physically impossible get over 100K miles on your Honda sport bike, the odometer only has (5) digits. So your maximum mileage is 99,999 before it digitally resets back to zero miles. You must purchase a Suzuki GSXR which has a 6th digit digital odometer ever since even the early models were first introduced.

    I got my xtz1200 flashed and it did all the good. Killed that fuckin killer deceleration and smoothed that touchy throttle. It;s been flashed 50k miles. No problemo. I put a PCV on it with it dyno mapped. Now I've got a 2k to 2250 rpm surge. In first and second its a bitch. Anybody else gone through this? I tried adjusting it at the surge rpm's and got no results. Fixing to take it off and see what happens. A zero map didn't do shit. If removing the PCV fixes this surge. That will tell the tale. I do have to say though. My bike will pull a power wheeli since it's been modified. Wouldn't come close to doin it stock.

    I leave all my scoot stock,only thing I change is seats handlebars and a few other creature comforts.Because of my height I had to put 2 inch risers on the handlebars because of a reach issue and I tossed the floor boards and over sized engine guard and purchased cheap adapters to make the hi-way pegs my foot pegs,they are stirrups and work great.I then added the brackets for and purchased saddleman saddlebags and they rock.My 06' Suzuki M50 also came with heated hand grips,a real plus because I like to ride in colder weather as well.I left the exhaust stock as well as the engine,and some folks have complained the over sized pipes on the exhaust are too quiet but I love them.It has the now defunct 819cc or 50 c.i. engine and although stock it only has about 50 or so horsepower it is just fine for me.The 2010 M50's have that really anemic 805 cc motor or 49.something engine and they add another spark plug to each tower saying it gives it more punch,wow 5% maybe more horsepower.I'll pass.Anyway as allways peace brother and keep your insights comming.Your allways in my prayers.Now get a real bonafide cruiser like I have and stop screwing around,lol.just kidding.I'm out.

    I'd have to disagree...most stock bikes run lean due to epa emission regs power commanders even the fuel curve out, create a smother throttle response as well as a smoother power delivery, they don't create more power they just fine tune everything so you can tap into whats already there. I've noticed on my bike better fuel economy, better throttle response, smoother ride, an cleaner longer lasting plugs. All from a PC, full Jardine exhaust, and a K&N filter.

    Bodging around on your bike putting on this or that is asking for trouble. Not saying you shouldn't mod, only that you should expect lower reliability changing exhausts, fuel mapping, filters, blinkers, etc. as though the engineers who designed your motorcycle have no idea what they're doing.

    Not to offend you, but you should brush up on your bike. The dude broke down in the street there has was looks like a parallel twin bobber or an inline 4 bobber. Often created out of the Honda CB 750 or 650's often.

    hey Cruza, just want you to know that you have some really good videos man. Especially this one in particular and I'm going to show my brother this because he loves to dive in and cut & play around with all the wiring. The result is, he spent way more time fixing than riding. Just the HID alone keep giving him problems, keeps flickering, sometimes on & off, blown fuse and all kinds of shit happened. His was the 2007 ZX-6R.
    As for mine, bought it brand new, 0 KM, I had nothing done to it except: M4 GP slip-on, OEM frame sliders & a fender eliminator kit. I don't touch any of the wires, only ones I touch is the rear turn signals because the aftermarket light wires were too short, had to play around.

      You know they have cheap add ons for hid lights that do just that, prevents that from happening. As for taking cc opinion as fact you are making a mistake. You want to avoid problems avoid doing things half assed or with inaccurate info. if you mod exhaust with just a slipon you can get away without a pc or flash, if you go air filter and slip on or full system or decat etc then you need fuel management period unless you dont care how your bike runs.

      E.S. BiH Like I said, I would avoid the PC because if it ever fails your bike will fail. For me, the stock set-up is fine for street riding. I have no problem with stock fueling, however, on the 2012+ cbr1000rr bikes Honda re-mapped the engine for smoother fueling.

  • @MrCSSTRIKS

    The problem is that from the factory ALL sportbikes have a significant lean spot in the lower rpm ranges due to EPA testing. This can cause poor throttle response and jumpy on-off throttle at low rpms. What is beneficial to your bike is a DYNO TUNE! This tunes your bike to the PERFECT air fuel ratio which will make your bike run better and be more reliable provided your tuner is any good.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess it depends on the particular stock bike because I have not had a problem with my stock Honda cbr600rr and cbr1000rr.

    the idle issue with the 08 and up cbr1000rr's is due to the removal of the butterfly valve in the large port in the factory slip on it controls the low end back pressure once removed the exhaust flows to freely due to the loss of back pressure at low RPM.

    I don't know how its in the us, but here in europe emission standards are really strict. That means bikes come out of the factory mapped really lean. A properly mapped PC is highly recommended and a really reasonable mod for any FI bike.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      RsEramies Stock is fine, they shoot that bs in order to sell PC's. lol The most important thing is to keep on the maintenance.

    • @RsEramies
      @RsEramies 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      CycleCruza Not bullshit. I imagine its not like this in the states tho, as emissions really don't seem to matter there and manufacturers can jet/map bikes to run healthy. Minarelli 125lc is a engine thats used in many 125 bikes in europe, i had one of these a few years ago. It will clearly show how a lean mixture ruins the cylinder and piston rings in 20-30k km's. They also have systems that run exhaust gases back to the air box to be re-burnt for lower emissions. This goes for pretty much all bikes, some manage it better some worse.

    • @CycleCruza
      @CycleCruza  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      RsEramies Manufacturers have to abide by state emissions guidelines, by law they can't sell a stock bike that won't meet emissions standards, at least here in the USA.
