    old trick I learned (Navy brat so moved about 50 times), to remove those stickers from items that mar (that you cannot use a scraper on) is to get a soft artists gum eraser and it will remove (turn the stick-um into crumbly balls) it, be careful with the opening for the SD card but it should work (pencil eraser will work too).

    Will the auto bed leveling happen every time I start a print or can I choose when it happens?. Some context: I need to print a single object with two different colours by printing in two passes (first pass is lettering 0.2 mm high) , which means I leave the first print on the bed and then start a new print with z hop to hop over the first print and fill in the gaps. I'm worried auto bed leveling will crash into my first print.

  • @DoctorEviloply

    This looks like a decent printer. And as an owner of the original CR-10 Smart that makes me absolutely livid. The original Smart has a major design flaw of absolutely no manual leveling. Which many of us criticised Creality for. And lo and behold they added manual leveling to this one and are getting us to pay for the privilege. And charging more. And still selling the Smart which is a defective model that is not fit for purpose.

    Got mine, the screen could be more responsive, sometime it takes 2-3 touch to select something, despite hearing beep every time. Creality cloud is buggy, won't detect my SD card, so it won't record video. Also the UI can be improved.

  • @mattbauder
    @mattbauder 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Hi, great video! I got this same printer and did all the leveling but noticed I still had to set a Z offset of -2.00 to get the print head to be on the bed. Yours was similar in that you showed -1.70 at the 7:46 mark. Do you know why this is needed? Shouldn't the bed leveling make the "0" mark where no offset is required? I'm kind of new to the 3d printing though I've had one for awhile. Thanks!

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The offset will always be a thing. All of my printers have a negative offset and they are all different as well.
      The 0 mark is the stop in the auto bed leveling sensor and this is always higher that the nozzle. You have to set that offset to your liking and what is doing to work for that printer and that material you are using. You might get it to print fine using pla and switch to abs and things will be off. Abs prints at a higher temp so the bed and nozzle might expand just a little more so you will have to fine tune things a bit. I hope that helps.

    • @mattbauder
      @mattbauder 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GomeowCreations Thanks very much! I'm still learning but at least I'm getting decent prints now. Seeing your video helped to assure me I wasn't crazy or doing something wrong having to use the offset like that. Keep up the good work!

    • @youradventurecompass
      @youradventurecompass 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not with the CR Touch (or BL touch on machines that have that). You have to adjust for the difference between the touch point and nozzle touch point. My Ender 3 V2 is 1.10 offset

    • @AquaStevae
      @AquaStevae ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, this is my current problem. I finally got something to print, even with a screwed up first layer, and I'm using an offset of -2.23!!! I would think that once manually leveling the bed and then running the auto bl, it would fix the height and make an offset unneeded. So while hearing this helps to at least let me know I'm not as screwed up as I thought I was with it. But -2.23 is still a bigger offset than the others mentioned here. Why do the manual if the probe is going to ignore it???

    I saw this on the Creality Store and is labelled as fully automatic bed levelling which is not the case as it does not have a third leadscrew and Z controlled bed, what it does have is independently driven dual leadscrews enabling G34 to be used to level the gantry with a CR Touch, the bed still has to be manually leveled and then probed, a fixed level bed would be more preferable, I cant see where they have spent all the extra money this costs over the CR-10 Smart, It seems they have added the retail cost of the upgrades to the CR-10 Smart price, with no consideration to subtracting the price of the original parts that were replaced with the upgrades
    The Smart features on the original did not work, is this the case with this one also?
    If so Creality are sticking two fingers up to the people who purchase this.
    Since it came out that Creality were offering cash bribes for favourable reviews of their lemon printers despite being aware of those TH-camrs review policies and as a result those large channel TH-camrs breaking all ties with Creality I would not feel comfortable buying any more of their products

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah from what I have seen about the first cr smart people had a lot of problems with the fixed bed design and could never get it level. The manual bed with the car touch is a good setup, at least from my experience. This is how I have all of my other older Creality printers setup as well and I have no problem with them after I get things set up the first time.
      I do a lot of product work ony printer with 1000s of hours of print time on them and honestly. This printer was added to that setup and I'm having no problems with it yet using PLA but I did have a problem getting abs to stick to the bed so that.
      I wasn't paid anything to make this video, I was just sent the printer and told a date to have the video out by, and that was it 😁.
      The UI on this is not something I like that much and the screen doesn't always pickup my touch inputs the first time. I really wish it was more like the big tree tech displays.

      I finally got mine. I've had nothing but issues. The leveling is off, the front left it's as loose as it'll allow, back left it's has tight.
      The power cable which came wouldn't stay in, had to use a different one.
      And now I'm trying to print, but the extruder won't melt it for some reason, despite being 200c. It's just clicking

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not 100% sure. That the problem are but the level thing could be due to the z lead screws not being aligned so it would make things very out of level.
      The not melting part with the clicking is odd. I know that when I try to switch the filament sometimes it will get stuck and hot get to the nozzle. I have to take the filament out and straighten it out a bit and with the cutter I cut the end at a 45 degree angle. That normal makes it's so it I move that table on the time it will slide through the extruder.
      I guess one other this you can try with that is loosen the pressure bolt on the extruder so see it that is just holding the filament too tight.
      I don't remember but is this your first printer?

    Well after seeing this video last week I bough a CR10 Smart pro, Regret it after 4 days, worst printer I have ever used. First of all the leveling on this thing is a nightmare, I leveled it around 100 times in the past 4 days, manual level like I do my Ender 3 pro, then auto level with the CR touch the adjust the Zhoffset. and I really don't think its saving to Eprom to be honest, Because when I do my leveling test print its off big time, So auto level isn't compensating for the bed at all. Bottom left is too low, top right is too high, and I do have a high spot in the middle it seems, but the CR touch should take care of this and it doesn't. Other issues I have is printing, Vase mode rocks, but with no retraction thats normal, easiest thing to print. Benchy looks good, XYZ cube looks good, but a actual print with support ( tree and normal) Look like crap and fail. real nightmare, and the worst 1000$CAD i wasted in a long time.

      @@MrRuber249 I would reset all the settings in the printer's flash memory first. After that, you will need to lower the bed via the wheels until they all bottom it out compressing the springs. THEN start the manual level process at point 5 (the center) - and reverse the wheels at each test point until you get within about 0.5mm across all 5 points. This will take about 2 or three cycles to get them all within the 0.5mm. NOW, you do do an auto-level and it will create an internal mesh profile of your specific bed plate. Once that is done, it will go back to the center of the bed (point 5 or the HOME position) and come to a stop after probing its latest bed distance, you can lastly make the final Z-axis fine tune adjustment. In 0.1mm increments, you can adjust the nozzle down to 0.2mm (I prefer 1.8mm). To get to that resolution, it may need a Z level adjustment as much as +/-2.5mm, even if in most cases it will be less than 1mm. This may read weird, but I own and have tested both the Ender 3 v3 S1 and this CR10 Smart Pro (which replaced my CR10S-Pro v2 as a rapid prototype printer), and up to a few mm of wiggle room to get it dialed in is not unheard of.
      Even my $5K Raise3D Pro3 Industrial printer needed to be calibrated before its first use to confirm the factory precision of its gantries and robust leveling probe remained dead on accurate within 0.04mm across the entire CNC milled build plane. This takes about 1 hour from start to finish.
      Once you get it done with the CR10 Smart Pro, it will be a nice feeling and the printer will pay you back with nice prints.

    • @GomeowCreations
      @GomeowCreations  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From what I have found, you can get the CR-10 Smart Pro for $838.22 shipped and the CR-10 Smart for $527.56 so a 310.66 difference. That being said the only difference I see is the auto leveling system, led lights, webcam and the direct drive setup on the pro. I can see that being worth the extra $300+ to some people that don't want to mess with upgrading later.
      The only bad thing I have seen about the C-R Smart was people having a very hard time leveling it due to the fixed bed. It was soo off in spots that they had to take it apart and add shims to make it work. The pro has and adjustable bed so you can move it if needed and have the CR touch take car of the rest.
      Just my thoughts on it 😁👍

    Why don't you show how to start the first print, instead of skipping over that part. THIS IS EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING FOR SOMEONE'S FIRST TIME TO START A PRINT WHEN NOBODY SHOWS THE ACTUAL STEPS ON THE PRINTERS SCREEN... On top of that, I've manually leveled the bed four times, and then ran the auto leveling afterwards, but each time I start a print, the nozzle is STILL too high, and it doesn't stick to the bed. Over and over and over again. I preheat the bed and the nozzle, and it still seems impossible to get that first layer level and just right. It would be nice if someone would do a step by step first print on this machine. I know this is a great printer. And I know I will eventually learn all I need to, and do well with it. But it would sure be nice to get an assist to speed up that learning curve.

      You just need to adjust the z off set in the settings. You can do it as it's printing too. Just start a test print and wait for it to start printing. Look for the z off set button it will take you to a new screen and look for z-axis comp and start adjusting down until you have a good layer.
