I appreciate you so much! I feel like I have learned so much from watching several TH-cam IVF mom's on here well ahead of what my docs may mention or explain. And in my exp my MFM docs say way too much about some things just to "caution" us, while they could be offering more explanation for things that would give us a better understanding of why they make certain decisions about our pregnancy for us. Learning things from this platform leads me to asking questions they may not have otherwise brought up, including scheduled inductions. When I was about 24 wks pregnant (Dec 1) I brought up scheduled inductions with one of my OBs and she instantly was like, yeah, we'd schedule you at 38-39 wks if baby is measuring big. Which at that time he was in the 69th %ile. That didn't really make much sense to me so I had it in the back of my mind to ask more later. Wks went by and we were focused on other things during appts, so it wasn't until I was 30 wks (Jan 12) when we met with one of the MFM docs and asked her about early scheduled induction and she explained they'd never take baby early for measuring "big" unless it was one part of him, like head or shoulders, (and although our baby was measuring larger he was proportionate) but instead, recent research had come out that stated there is an increased risk for stillbirth after 39 wks with an IVF baby because the placenta just stops working and they don't know why that is. So I said to her, "so you're telling me I am not going full term with this baby?" And she said, "you are not going full term, we will take him at 38-39 wks" It was odd to me that this was so clear to her. I wondered when they would have mentioned that had I not brought it up (both times really with the OB and with her). I did not know ANYTHING about the corpus luteum until now. The name is familiar to me but that makes so much sense! So much sense! Why not even say that it's one theory! If the corpus luteum is released when you ovulate (esp when we know they are preventing ovulation right before a retrieval) and provides the horomones (which why don't the fertility docs tell you that to explain why you have to take all the extra shots?) until the placenta takes over, seems like a pretty straightforward hypothetical but realistic explanation! So thank you for pointing it out and so easily explaining how it is likely related! They also started watching me about 27 wks for higher blood pressure so they had me taking it at home but bp was only ever elevated at the doc office and thankfully my nurse husband just helped me track it. They initially just called it "white coat syndrome" Long story short, it did eventually start trending higher (had been in the one-teens to low 120s and then moved over several weeks to upper 130s) however, I had/have zero other symptoms (blood work is good, no swelling, no headaches, etc), so at about 32-33 wks, MFM said they were taking baby at 37 wks. I do think a baby aspirin should just be part of the treatment plan for all IVF pregnancies. They are officially diagnosing me with pre-eclampsia without symptoms, which I don't quite get either but maybe it's for insurance purposes to justify induction so early (another thing I have to call and find out but of course my insurance office was somehow closed this past Friday for training lol) My bp has remained in the 120s - 130s but they don't want it to turn into an emergency situation, so we are playing it safe. Baby is doing great! And we are only 1 wk away from starting our induction! After 12 years of infertility (we found literature recently clearing our some files that was from a bay fair I went to in 2010) and a 1.5 of infertility treatment, it is hard to put to words that we have made it this far and will have a baby boy in the next 7-10 days! Thank you for all your videos and supportive comments! And for sharing such a personal journey that is still not well spoken about or understood. Not to mention what is happening right now in Alabama, have you heard about that? That in Alabama there is potential new prosecution to docs and patients who discard embryos created in IVF, as they are ruling that they are protected under a law that they are considered life at insemination so they are considered children and, will be prosecuted for the wrongful death of a minor if one is destroyed! It makes me saddened and frustrated and sick for the women going through that right now! But that's a whole other conversation! I am so happy to see Quinn is doing so well and growing so big! One year in a few days, I'm sure it's surreal for you! One big hurdle remaining for me in this journey and then the greatest adventure will be on the other side! Take care Brittany! ~Brittney
Hi Brittney!! It’s so great to hear from you again! And wow you’re so close to meeting your little man!!💙💙 I’m so excited for you! Thank you so very much for sharing a part of your journey and writing all of this! I’m so sorry you’re also dealing with high blood pressure. Sounds like you’re otherwise healthy and baby is doing fine so that’s a huge blessing. Yeah isn’t it wild what additional testing and concern goes into these pregnancies?! I’m just so glad you’re doing ok. Praying for a smooth induction and delivery🙏🙏 you got this girl!! Let me know how it goes!
I had a pre-conception visit with a MFM specialist because of my Crohn's disease. When I mentioned that I was doing IVF, she was only concerned about the number of embryos being transferred as carrying multiples would make me even more high risk. She did also recommend baby aspirin to prevent pre-eclampsia.
It’s all very interesting. My only reason for IVF was tubal factor, i had a natural transfer so I had a corpus luteum (no PIO) and I was on aspirin from 12 weeks and still had severe preeclampsia requiring magnesium. I went into labor naturally at 38w1d and the preeclampsia started postpartum.
Oh wow preeclampsia postpartum!! I’ve heard of that happening! I wonder about that too! And you took aspirin… interesting Good to hear you went into labor naturally❤️ Thank you so much for sharing and huge congratulations on your little one!!
Interesting video, I have wondered these things as well so thanks for passing along what you’ve found out! My IVF pregnancy was at 36 years old and I had gestational diabetes and hyperemesis. I went into labor naturally at 38 weeks 5 days! Thank goodness, because I was in so much pain by then because baby was posterior. I labored for two days at home (they wouldn’t admit me to L&D because I was progressing so slowly, which we know now was because baby was stuck due to his OP position) and then an additional 24 hours in the hospital on pitocin before needing an emergency C-Section. Next pregnancy I’m hoping to have a scheduled C section around 39 weeks but we’ll see! Looking forward to following along, your timeline has always been about a year ahead of mine! 🤗
Thank you so much for sharing and huge congratulations on your IVF miracle!!💕 Oh wow you went through A LOT too with your labor and delivery I’m so SO sorry it was so rough!!😭 So interesting what happened to you too.. And thank you so much for following along and I hope in the future we both have our second IVF miracle🙏
My sister in law just had a ivf baby and she was 42 weeks when she was induce, baby and her and doing great but she is 33 years old. I’m 15 weeks pregnant with an ivf baby as well and I start taking baby aspiring at 12 weeks recommended by my midwife so far i feel very good and baby is perfect! I’m also 36 years old and im hoping everything continue been good 🙏🏽
Ohh thank you so much for sharing and huge congrats to your sister in law!!🎉💕 Praying for a smooth and healthy rest of your pregnancy and delivery!🙏 You got this!!
I took aspirin until about 32 weeks due to family history of preeclampsia and luckily didn't develop it My obstetricians were worried about the increase in stillbirth risk due to ivf (they said it is double the risk of non-Ivf pregnancy) and because she only had one artery in the umbilical cord, so they wanted to induce me before 40 weeks. In the end she was really healthy and active on all the scans so they let me push it to 41 weeks. But I ended up deciding to get induced then (stillborn risk was scary) then ended up having an emergency caesarean due to failure to progress at 8cm
Wow thank you so much for sharing!! And I’m glad you didn’t develop preeclampsia and I’m glad you went to 40 weeks; I’m so sorry about needing a c section!! So you were told the risk of still born does go up in IVF babies, interesting! I’m wondering if it’s because of the condition of the placenta past 40 weeks I hope you and your baby are doing well now and congratulations!!
Could you possibly look into the effects of IVF and PPROM at all? I’d be so interested to learn and hear more about it! I’ve seen one person in a Facebook group say IVF makes you at higher risk for it and that’s the first and only time I’ve heard that. I had my IVF baby naturally at 33 + 6 after having PPROM from 32 weeks. Love your videos, thankyou ❤
Oh interesting!!! I don’t know anything about PPROM but I remember my OB doc mentioning IVF can put you at higher risk for this too! I’ll have to look into this. Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you and your little one are doing well now!🙏❤️ And thank you so very much!!
@@brittany_elizabeth_rn thankyou so much! I’d be so interested to hear one day what you can find! We are thriving now, thankyou! She’ll be 5 months old in 2 days! I hope your family are also well!

Thanks for doing this one!! I’m 15 weeks into my IVF pregnancy and am a bit nervous about the induction part, but we’ll see! I’ve been on baby aspirin since the day of my transfer however so hope that helps!!
Huge congratulations on your pregnancy!!🎉💗 thank you so much for sharing and wishing you the very best as you get farther along and praying for a smooth delivery!🙏🙏
