Hi guys, here’s a FULL in depth review of the new 2021 VW Golf Mk8! This one is powered by a 1.6 litre petrol, 6 speed manual and it has delivered exactly what I expect from a German hatchback - this Golf ticks all the boxes!
I’ve always been a fan of a Golf and in fact my first car was a Golf Mk4 and since then, my love for them has grown more and more! I feel they have improved in every generation and this Mk8 is packed with cool new technology and so many driver safety features!

This is a great review Bobby, and I totally agree with you when you said how reliable they are. My first car was a Polo Volkswagen and my second car was a Golf Volkswagen and I have to say both cars never let me down, they make great first cars purely for the fact that they are built so strong. No wonder they are one of the largest car makers in the world!

I hope to sell my VW Scirocco in the next 6 months, and hopefully get a MK8 R-Line. Can't go wrong with VW, I've had my Scirocco 5 years, and it's never let me down. Strong engine 👍🏼

Don't buy one I have a Golf mk8 r line and it's had alot of issues poor quality interior aswell. I have owned mine 2 years so know the car inside and out

Mainly major software issues eg touch screen freezing, coolant leak and puddle lights broken. I know it's only a golf but quality of materials is poor in my opinion. Any body that says modern vw is built to last are just fan boys they don't make them like they used to
Why is there not travel assist?
Is an optional included in the mirror pack and side assist?

I have the r line tdi 150.quick and great on fuel.70 to the gallon on motorway and 51 round town.looks great and cheap to run runs like a dream.great cars!

Hey Kulvinder, to be honest I liked it. It is quite sensitive but with like everything, you just gotta get used to it. The only fiddly part I found, was the buttons on the steering wheel as they are touch sensitive too. Bit of a faff when you’re driving!

I am picking my 2022 R line up tomorrow. Same engine as this. I woulda like a bit more punch but I would end being banned from driving by if I got a GT. I am seeing a few negative reviews which is worrying me but yours seems to have been more rational and reviewed in a sensible manner.

Had my golf Rline for 6 months now. Got it brand new. 3200 miles on it so far. Lovely to drive. I love it.

"Packed with new technology"...yes, there lies the problem...I bought a 2020 MK8 GTI and it spent more time in the dealers than my driveway. After waiting for my 3rd, yes 3rd steering wheel to be fitted and the relentless error messages appearing on the display on EVERY journey, radio rebooting itself....it was time to get rid. It was a great driving car, just a shame about all the software issues I had.

Personally think the 8 looks quite soft compared to the 7/7.5 however I did see an R on the road in that famous blue colour and it did look smart.
The 7R personally would be my go to for the Golf!

My golf is not great. Rings sos breakdown on loop. Vw ordered a new gateway at 1500 miles, updated software and it started again. Bloody annoying
