WitcherGeorge I don't remember or not, but did you do a vid on plague maidens, noonwraiths, nightwraiths and hyms.If you didn't could you? If you did, I have an series idea, could you do a video on quests and quest creature lore, like the woodland spirit or morvuddd.
I always assumed the more intense and complex looking a drowner looks, the longer it lasted underwater and the more magical it was and is more extreme than the plain ol casual drowner
I always equated drowners in the Witcher world like Crocodiles where I live in Northern Australia. We see many of them, we are aware of them, some get taken by them and they populate coastal beaches, inland lakes and rivers/creeks in the thousands. Crocs also drag fishermen to the depths to drown them and have been known to stash bodies for later snackin. Drowners are Salt Water Crocodiles confirmed.
Hi George, After the Trial of The Grasses is completed by Yennefer on Uma, Eskel very briefly mentions that the remaining Witcher’s should have a ‘chat’ about what re-gaining this precious knowledge about the trials means for the School. Due to his character entry suggesting he took on the role of watching over Kaer Morhen and stepping into Vesemirs shoes. Would you agree that he would attempt to rebuild the School of The Wolf if they have the knowledge and ability to produce new Witcher’s. Perhaps they would introduce new recruitment techniques like only voluntary recruits or orphans etc. I know this is not a lot to go on but I Think this would make a thought provoking video. Than you.
Didn't Eskel say that he was going to leave Kaer Mohen for good during Vesemir's funeral? He said that staying there just wouldn't be the same without him there. I think his exact quote was that losing him was the final nail in the coffin.
Perhaps drowners are like bees where the water hag is the only fertile female, when the colony gets to big weaker members are forced out and have to start a new colony elsewhere and over time another dominant female transforms into the new water hag
"Seasoning" isn't likely the right direction to take that thought. They might just store the bodies under the water till they start to decompose a little a become softer / easier to eat. Much like how crocodiles and such do in our world by taking prey under water and shoving them under a log.
My gaming pc i currently dead, so to comfort myself I have been watching your playthroughs of the witcher series. I would like to come out in support of rolling, as a fellow sign lover i like that it gives you some distance so you can line up igni, or cut someone from a group. Hopefully I will have a new pc soon, having watched you play I now am itching to through the series again myself. Thank you George !
I love these videos you make about various Witcher lore etc. I've played the games, watched the Netflix show and just started reading The Last Wish. I just cant get enough of this world. And your videos are a nice complement :)
That moment when you were little and your grandparents in Polen were always telling you stories about Wodnik/utopiec and how they could change their appearance into little blue gnome people or into animals like horses or pigs and would help you if you helped them before (they would imitate drunk peoples or animals that were caught into some hole etc) or would drown/trick you if you didn't help them or was bad and that if you ever meet one you should be polite to them or left them a gift like some food or alcohol while you cross some big or little river so that they wouldn't drown/trick you
As a newcomer to the Witcher, I came across your channel! I already watched a lot of Fudgemuppet's content, and then I found yours! I really like your attention to detail! I am eventually going to play the Witcher games, also, I going to get all the books as well! I heard Witcher 3 is the best one so far, in terms of play, how are the first two like? Keep these coming, new subscriber!
For me the archespore fights are more annoying with all the bulbs they keep making. But of course they're only in Touissant and drowners are absolutely everywhere.
They are scattered throughout the Velen (not sure if they are in Skellige tho). I'm certain that one is guarding the treasure mear the lighthouse in Velen. The one where Geralt and Triss...meet...
Loved the cinematography in the beginning. I subbed. I would love to see more vids that are made like the intro like you could make your own game movie. Just a thought.
I’d be really cool if they’d focus a Witcher game on the conjunction of spheres or the different parallel universes and some story that spans traveling to different ones. Imagine having one where some of the monsters became the dominate and evolved species on the planet. The drowners would be awesome for this. Having intelligent drowner society lol. Also would be cool if Ciri cameoed some quest in Cyberpunk where she was hiding out there when running from the wild hunt...
Good video, George. I was wondering for Witcher 4 if it follows Ciri that there is another Conjunction of Spheres event but more synthetic. Leading to mutated evolved versions of stronger Monsters bringing the world of the Witcher to its knees. And Ciri tracks down the culprit from world to world. Just a thought.
Hey, with the new expansion coming to gwent and all the leader cards that are being reintroduced what if you make a video about harald the cripple? I don't really know any of his background and he looks like a really interesting guy to talk about and on top of that there's not a single video out there mentioning anything about him Hope you consider my idea for a future video ;D
@@jackramadhani6537 I tried killing animals and humans with Aerondight on DM, took too long to kill even a single enemy, it's much quicker to just fight a group of drowners or harpies.
I've only played the first Witcher game but I found the easiest way to take them out is igni and the silver group style. Goes through them like a hot knife through butter
Wow intro editing was fantastic. Curious did you grab audio files from the game or make your character invisible and hang out with some drowners in some muck and use that audio?
Hey George question, do you think there's enough info about the "places of power" found throughout Witcher 3 to look into it? I know they are mostly just game play things, but I'm curious as to what they are, where do they come from, who made them, can other people use them? Every time I find one I just start wondering
Drowners are inspired by a number of entities from Slavic mythology and folklore. They may not be the drowned, but they resemble them and many of the ancient Slavic peoples had a certain fear of the souls of people who died by drowning.
the funny thing about drowners to me is that their basically a meme in the game... yet on death march if your using lighter armor (cat) they hit hard as hell and can stack attacks in groups so.... a pack of drowners is more dangerous than any fiend/gryphon lol....
well my tactic dealing with drowners is hit n dodge.... a drowner will attack, you dodge and attack x2, 3rd attack it dodges... soo dealing with them is quite easy, just hit n dodge
Suggestion for future video's, Shani's Witcher 1 Gran landlord. One of the toughest boss' in all the games... well maybe most annoying if you just need to talk to Shani.
I'm curious about the line about drowners keeping their prey to season them. Where does that come from? It would make more sense to me that they simply keep their victims as a way to store food, like many animals do. Also, if they are scavengers and don't mind rotten food, it could also be a way to make the meat easier to eat. Some animals also do that, nothing to do with seasoning
Another neat way and a cool way to kill a group of drowners is to use whirl and swing your sword around killing anything that comes near you. Pretty badass imo
Wodnik is a slavic daemon of the waters, who enjoys killing and drowning people, he also rules Rusałki (a kind of malicious nymph born of unjustly deceased girls, who kill men by seducing them and “dancing” with them until they drop from exhaustion). Wodnik cooks mists in a pot and is sometimes depicted as a jester, or a cold blooded murderer, but he can occasionally be seen helping people.
Do you think that the race of the Drowners, Water hags and maybe even Foglets are from the same world? Or simply just different, yet similar natured species that coexist well and became good neighbours in the world of the Witcher? (Altough at first glance, I tought Foglets are maybe a type of vampire? I'm not really knowledgeable about the bestiary, I'm just curious about your opinion. ^^ Sorry if my question has an OBVIOUS answere I was unaware of :"D )
I have a thought. What if there are female drowners and they can only live underwater. While the males can walk on land. As in they will do the food gathering mostly on land while the females protect and nurture their young. It would make sense then as to why we never see any baby drowners

"They're not intimidating"
You've clearly never ran into a bunch of high level red skull drowners.
I have, and being killed by a drowner is one of the things I'm not proud of.
Only time those skulls are not intimidating is pure Alchemy build in new game plus
Gives me nightmares to this day
Yeah, it's not easy, but having quen up all the time and constantly being on the move definitely helps
You should do a video on the Grandmaster Elf Blacksmith in Touissant
Good idea!
Amazing idea and it could segue into the other grandmaster and witchers connected
@Daddy1724 I dont think hes a grandmaster.
What's the difference between a drowner, and a Nilfguardian?
A drowner can swim.
Barbarians...
true dat
And you can't spell
Drowners are to the witcher what mudcrabs are to The elder scrolls
Minus devolving from giant god-crabs that ruled the mortal realm... i think
Last time i was so early
Geralt still had emotions
I seriously read this this as "What are Downers?"
Drowner brains are the bread and butter or early game money grinding
thx drowners
