in a cave underneath the sewers of novigrad theres an unmakred quest that wakes up a vampire sleeping in a tomb which may be one, also the quest in novigrad where you find the mortician is the killer and attacker of priscilla states he is a higher vampire however he turns into a katakan looking form so im not sure
Having read the books, I really loved the fact that blood is for Vampires what alcohol or drugs are for humans. Meaning they don't need it at all but are likely to have a taste for it and crave it.
Glad there is still new witcher fans :) its the best game out there in my opinion and there are so many different endings. Just a tip without spoiling the game but try to be a good dad to ciri and not a demanding one
It's true about how it's a little overwhelming at first. I just started playing witcher 3 yesterday and I still haven't got used to the mechanic, other than that the game is amazing.
There is actually one other Higher Vampire that is mentioned in the Witcher 3: Khagmar. This is told during the Tesham Mutna quest because he was kept and tortured there for quite some time as punishment.
@@AngraMango unfortunately CDPR didn't write a closure for this story. We can assume that he is since only higher vampires can kill each other and that it is forbidden. But since Tesham Mutna is empty in the game, that would mean he is free and roaming, quietly. Or perhaps a higher vampire can eventually kill himself?
I love the Witcher universes unique take on the vampire. Vampires especially higher vampires aren’t just corrupted Humans or monsters they are in fact a different species of humanoids looking beings from another world another dimension in a way that makes them literal aliens.
While I agree that the general idea of the conjunction of spheres and all these species coming from other worlds is an amazing and interesting idea, the vampires beeing aliens isn't very special. Most species in the world of the witcher are aliens. Humans are from earth, as far as we know all or at least the vast majority of monsters are from different worlds and if I remember correctly even the elves are not originally from that world.
@@dereinzigwahreRahlI thought the Elves were the only species that existed in the world of the Witcher prior to the Conjunction. Then again I remember seeing somewhere that the Elves also weren’t from that world they just arrived 1,000 years before the other races.
@@WitcherGeorge am I only one that want next witcher game where you play higher vampire you know try to survive and live in daily live of one? Also could you make video about how that would work? i would love to hear your thought how it would work?
I recommend watching summary videos of the books or reading them yourself if you want more Witcher lore. The show on Netflix is a abomination and skips important details, or even makes stuff up. Either way im excited for The Witcher 4 when ever it releases.
There's definitely a class system within the Vampires, between those who existed before the conjunction and those that came after, makes sense that those who can pull it off would describe themselves as a higher vampire as only actual higher vampires could disprove that.
I like it how in the witcher they put their own thing in vampire lore but still makes vampire feel like vampires by keeping some of the classical stuff in the story of blood and wine that are typicaly assosiated to vampires like dungeons and cemiterys. I have seen other series that has changes vampires so much that they don't feel like vampires.
I love how they're basically Demi Gods. Detlaff basically overthrew Toussaint overnight, and that was only after toying with their most esteemed Knights.
The only reason CDPR introduced the only a higher vampire can permanently kill another higher vampire is to bring back Regis which is pretty cool since he was melted completely.
Theory: Higher vampires are only immortal in the world of Aen Seidhe and also invincible if they aren't killed by another vampire(although having something coated in dalvinite would also be able to kill them permanently imo). That's why they feel so uncomfortable, they can't die and are in such small numbers, they have no relief at all, no peace.
@ZerkGrimWolf9782 Yeah, this is their limbo. Unable to die and age except through two methods until their portal finally opens up and they can return to their normal mortal lives
It isn't often that I think witcher lore to be way too ridiculous. The idea that higher vampires can be kill only by their kind is difficult to believe. I mean you chop one up, burn the pieces, dump their ashes in boiling silver and make a sword/statue/toilet stool/etc.
Only just got this video in my feed. Its great to hear your voice again man. Hope you're doing well and doing what you want. Another great video😁 I'd love to watch you playthrough another game
I understand not including the two Novigrad vampires as higher vampires because they turn into Katakans and you can kill them quite easily. But Orianna was immune to Detlaff's kickstarter campaign to boycott Beauclair, and since he has the power to control all vampires beneath him, doesn't that confirm she's higher despite what the trailer where she lullabies her woes might suggest?
The only logical solution is that the writers kept retconning and overwriting things and as a result vampire lore is completely illogical and full of contradictions.
We're missing another category of vampires, just 'higher' and 'lesser' isn't enough to describe all of them, as Bruxa's and Katakan's clearly posses human intelligence and the ability to shapeshift into humans but aren't completely immortal or as powerful like true higher vampires, so in a sense of the word they're 'middle' vampires, a clear bridge between lesser and higher.
I always thought they are awesome in the games - as with most things actually... they did a great job. They are intimidating even if they don`t really act aggressive. And they know it, thats the most dangerous thing of all, I think. If you know your power and limit, it kinda makes you more dangerous than just strong monsters.
Nice to see you back! Feel spoiled this week with nate that does skyrim lore coming back after a super long lay off and now you. Really enjoy your content, though I understand there's only so much lore between 3 games and a handful of books.
I don’t know. When you go to Tesham Mutna and read the books there, it seems like maybe they use cities as cattle farms. For example, the bruxa who fought Geralt on Corvo Bianco, she was supposedly the tavern’s daughter. There’s something going on, at least in Toussaint. Another interesting point, usually vampires uses old elves structures to wait for another conjunction of spheres. Vampires is a really good subject to be develop on this Witcher’s world.

Nice video! I like to add some theories based on some clues in the games: I thin the Queen of the Night, Regis' ex, is to mention as well. It was not entirely clear, that she is a bruxa. Another one is "The Humanist". And the other 2 tribes: Tdet, Ammurun next to Regis' and Dettlaffs tribe Gharasham. I think CDPR contradicts its vampirelore as much as Sapowski does, so we have a freedom to interpret it? In the book, Regis ability is to hypnotize a group of people, maybe this is connected to his ability to speak with ravens, he is immune to fire but got melted by Vilgerfortz. I also think that Dettlaffs monsterform is his batform. And if you enter the cave of the unseen, you can see som pictures of him with two wings and claws. You also find the symbol of the unseen as shrines where humans pray, enlight candles and lay down flowers. As if this is a cult for humans. It reminds me of the book you find in Tesham Mutna. Toussaint seems to be a whole free-ranged blood farm for the vampires, they (maybe) abandoned long ago (to didn't)? Maybe they established the cult long ago as a way to bind the "sheep" to its sheppard and justify a ritual involved to bloodletting.
About the Vilgefortz fire, remember that magic fire was different from the normal one. Triss once said that she cannot extinguish magical flames. Maybe thats the reason why Vampires lose their immunity when it comes to face a magician?
*@Witcher George- Fantastic channel, I love all your lore videos and the Vampire videos are some of your best! I realize you have done a few videos on the vampires and the different types; however, I would love to see yet another one based on each vampire class from Catacan to Bruxa to Higher Vampires and all the ones in between! Speculation on the true relationship between the HV’s and those that are lower down the totem pole…are they related to one another somehow beyond their thirst for blood? Missed your videos so it's been really nice to watch this and the new videos on your Witcher George channel. Great video I really love higher vampires, so this was very interesting.
Higher vampires are epic. Their base form is enough to deal with witchers, humans and a whole city but then you have their final form. You can feel the amount of power in every wing flap.
Can't have been that few. Regis describes being with vampire friends in the books (recently started reading them). I'm guessing somewhere between 1-400. Enough for them form the tribes discussed in the game spread out across the world, but still remain exceedingly rare. Also seeing as a majority of them seem to feel uncomfortable in this world it would be reasonable to assume that they would simply hide out in a cave, not unlike the one we find The Elder in, and wait for an opportunity to return Ps: good to see you back. been missing these videos
My theory is that true Higher Vampires are superorganisms, made up of a collection of billions of single celled organisms held together by a single consciousness. Their mist form is when they lose cohesiveness, and it would allow them to easily change shape and endure injuries that would be fatal. Because they aren't injuries of a bodily sense, just change in the structure they chose. They also do not require food, liquid, or air, and can survive being a pile of mush and can absorb the consciousness of life force keeping that Higher Vampire alive. That may also explain why they feel uncomfortable in the Aen Seidhe world is off to them, their structures attending differently to it.
Dragons, higher vampires and 'Crones' are the strongest 'common' (not that theyre common, just not like an individual thing like Viy or Gaunter O'Dimm) things on the continent I think.
Very cool Witcher video. I love lore about the Higher Vampires. I'm a huge fan or Lord of the Rings and Elder scrolls. I will be subscribing. I'm looking forward to seeing more videos.
My theory on vampires is that they start as the animalistic vampire. The longer they live, they adapt, learn and, in theory, their bodies create inmunity to silver or even death.
In the books, I think higher vampires are presented as unique, a class in their own, or nigh undefinable. In the games, I think that they are presented as a species: (the term "higher vampire" is used to refer to more powerful vampires eg, bruxae, katakan etc, as well as the species "higher vampire", which Regis, Dettlaff and the Elder are a part of) because "higher vampires" like Regis, Dettlaff etc have a very specific set of characteristics and powers, eg: feral form, fog form, beast/bat form, human form etc, that differentiate them from the classification "higher vampire" that bruxae etc are a part of. Basically, "higher vampire" means two things, a classification of vampires, as well as a specific species. (This is made clear in the video), so this comment is basically pointless
It’s like saying Orianna’s (however you spell it) species is bruxae. But she can be labeled as a higher vampire since she’s above the primitive vampiric beasts While Detlaff and Regis species is higher vampire, The Higher Vampire. And then the Ancient dude… is Super Sayain 3 Vampire
I need to return to Witcher 3 and play through Blood and Wine. I downloaded it but never got around to playing it, but I really want to encounter a high vampire
Missed you bro! Edit) I also just got a PC from my brother, he built it for me and now I can play Witcher 3 at 100fps and mod the game if I want! It’s great!
The end choices of Blood and Wine didn't make much sense to me. After being introduced to Tesham Mutna and it's vampire proof cage, why didn't Regis simply take his defeated friend there to cool off for a century or two. It's an obvious solution that avoids all of the problems associated with the other endings. I understand the 'no perfect ending' idea, but this solution in so obvious, it makes Geralt and Regis look like morons for not thinking of it. Also, after earlier learning that Dettlaff can only be killed by one of his own, Anna Henrietta never seems curious about how he's actually killed.
Little correct. Every higher vampire have the ability to turn into huge bat like creature not only dettlaff. Its seen in the last chapter of the books when they attacked vilgefort's keep "stygga". Regis for the first time joined to battle and turned into bat slaughtering people like rats.
I was going to mention Hubert Rejk because when you confront him he says "I'm a vampire, higher of course" in the quest but the Wiki says that he isn't.
Hey man, missed your content! How about some speculation videos for the new Witcher game? It is years off so could ber fun to guess now and go back to it once it is out. I will go first with the prediction: It is going to be in Ofir and will cover another Witcher school (School of the Manticore)
hey i know this is late but could you maybe look into the Oxfurt drunk Vampier. i'm wondering if the medic involved in the quest is the Vampier in human form. why? because he vanishes after you kill geal. i know he might not be a true "Higher vampire" but i'd like to know what you might think about it

The king hath returned.
Missed you bro!
Edit) I also just got a PC from my brother, he built it for me and now I can play Witcher 3 at 100fps and mod the game if I want! It’s great!
Great video! Nice recap for S2 and beyond
I rlly enjoy ur content :)
Thank you!
I was watching some of your older videos yesterday lol
Finaly welcome back
Notification squad wya ?
Welcome back, Witcher!
I did NOT realize that it was just Regis, Detlaff and the Unseen Elder that are higher vampires.
I was wondering George did you make a vid abaut the vrans and if you didnt please do even if it is short one
Oh it’s good to see new videos!!!!
interesting -- TY
Witcher George is back!!!
He's back!!
Little correct. Every higher vampire have the ability to turn into huge bat like creature not only dettlaff. Its seen in the last chapter of the books when they attacked vilgefort's keep "stygga". Regis for the first time joined to battle and turned into bat slaughtering people like rats.
Welcome back!
We’ve missed you!
I was going to mention Hubert Rejk because when you confront him he says "I'm a vampire, higher of course" in the quest but the Wiki says that he isn't.
Delusions of grandeur
Nice
Hey man, missed your content!
How about some speculation videos for the new Witcher game? It is years off so could ber fun to guess now and go back to it once it is out.
I will go first with the prediction: It is going to be in Ofir and will cover another Witcher school (School of the Manticore)
He's back!!!
He's back
Do you know how higher vampires are created? Love your content!
they are born like humans
Maybe you can do a video on specific relicts
Cheers George. Legend
Missed your videos.
hey i know this is late but could you maybe look into the Oxfurt drunk Vampier. i'm wondering if the medic involved in the quest is the Vampier in human form. why? because he vanishes after you kill geal. i know he might not be a true "Higher vampire" but i'd like to know what you might think about it
Can you do a lore video on the school of the Snail?
Can you do a video on tris?
Thank you!
How are the Witchers or the world as a whole in the latest book?
the latest book was a prequel, and witchers remain a dying caste
