    Would a Leshen attack a Druid? Or would they be friendly to them? Because Leshen primarily protect their forests. So could a Leshen and a druid co-exist?

      Leshen's primarily protect their own nest and feeding ground. I don't think that they "genually" protect the forests they inhabit?
      I do think a Druid would be smart enough to know how to avoid Leshens in the sense that they "could" co-exist. The druids are smart enough to know what to not do around a Leshen, i suppose.

      If I remember correctly there is an ealdorman/druid-like gentleman in skellige who tries to get you to make an offering to the local leshen and wants to “return to the old ways” of hunting and living, rather than to continue to scour the forests and upset (ultimately kill) the leshen. If you choose this path and offer wolf hearts to the leshen it accepts them and stops harassing the villagers. I wouldn’t be surprised if a leshen would watch from afar and let the druids go, they seem to at least want to coexist

    I believe MouseSack is at least on par with the most powerful of mages not through sheer magic power but experience and abilities.

    I think Druids being all about perserving and maintaining balance, they tend not to be too focus on offensive magics so that may be why compared to Ermion someone like Yen and Triss appear stronger. However I do believe should they be backed into a corner a Druid can more than hold himself in a battle againts sorceresses. It's kinda like the whole Jedi vs Sith thing except in this case the whole celibacy thing seems to have been reversed.

    You are correct about the mistletoe btw, its still thought of and used to represent semen in rituals today. It's a fertility symbol and was sacred.i cant remember off the top of my head the connection from mistletoe and semen to the tradition of kissing under it.

    • @muhammadedwards8425
      @muhammadedwards8425 4 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I'm no expert on Celtic traditions, or traditions related to it, but in other cultures that place such a high value on fertility, couples seeking a pregnancy would try to conceive using fertility symbols. Mistletoe may have been collected, offered or used in some ritual practice to bless the couple with increased chances of pregnancy

    • @cernanwinterfox85
      @cernanwinterfox85 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Like a lot of modern just because weird traditions we have it a: comes from several sources and b: is an intentionally watered down symbolic homage to an old full on ritual.
      With regards to druids they conflated fertility not only with human reproduction but also just growth in general and especially with agricultural harvest. There was a tradition that was both a yearly thing for crops in general but also a part of a wedding cermony that involved sacrificing a bull wreathed in mistletoe.
      Im a bit foggy on the details but some things do stand out. The yearly sacrifcice required a white cow. The wedding ceremony required the cow come fron the grooms family as part of the dowry. You then spread the blood over the grounds you were trying to bless.
      What you did with the mistletoe and the rest of the cow I dont remember much at all, other than that it had to be white mistletoe and not red if you were doing the sacrifice for fertility reasons, and red not white for driving off poxes and curses.
      Also only for sure applies as ive tried to explain it in Connaught.

    • @krysc3278

      In the birthplace of my great great grandmother (northren Germany) it was used as a charm for fertility, or at least that was what my grandmother told me on the stories about my family, and sometimes now it's still used like that, not as usual as in the old days but, you know, it's used time to time.

And on the other hand for druids, living in the woods, being well respected, can do magic, and know a bunch of cool shit. Mages kinda the same with magic and cool shit.

    One constant of both the books and game is that one should not measure another's decisions, traditions, and/or beliefs purely from the perspective of an outsider. I mention this because this video repeatedly judges the morality of the Druid's beliefs from the perspective of the presenter.
    At the core of druidic beliefs and practices is the preservation of life. Thus, it makes sense that creatures who are only able to take lives (i.e. vampires and witchers) would be in opposition to those beliefs. Though it's obvious that extinguishing one life can improve or elongate another. These are unintended consequences for a witcher. In the books, Geralt repeatedly considers that his sole reason for being is the eradication of monsters. Once their are no more monsters to kill, he will have no purpose.
    One might also consider that monsters serve as an equalizer to the ever-growing race of humanity. No other race in the Witcher universe breeds and expands at rate humans do. Without monsters to quell their numbers, how long could one expect the non-human races to survive (not to mention the flora and fauna cultivated in their lands)?

    The druid school seems much better than the sorcery schools if you want to learn magic. Since the primary things mages mention about wielding magic is talent and concentration I would expect most druids to be more skilled than most mages.

  • @vexthegreat9167
    @vexthegreat9167 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Ermion is probably not as powerful as mages. Mages can conjure portals to travel entire continents as well as just teleport themselves much further without conjuring portals. They can develop polymorphic abilities. They can make use of any of the elements to draw the Power whereas Ermion must locate gas deposits. Mages can throw people into portals against their will and create portals for them to enter willingly. Mages also have significant ranged abilities Ermion does not have. Mages can enchant items to make them weapons or to make needles to repair torn clothing. Finally, mages can cast curses on purpose as opposed to speaking one on the hopes that it will stick. Ermion cannot do any of these things. I still love him and think he’s badass, though.

      He just didn't die in the books and must like Skelligers or Skellige so decided to stay. Remember Ciri's Step-Grandfather was the Skelliger King's Brother so he must of met and befriended a bunch of them in Cintra.
      The show is simply following an alternate timeline. Also technically the games are non-canon to the books. But the books events are canon to the games (They're official unofficial fan-fiction sequels). So essentially the Witcher is divided into three media representations with three different timelines. Think of it like a Witcher Multiverse akin to Marvel's or DC's.

Druids have access to extremely powerful artifacts but Sorceresses can always gain them too with a little work. Sorceresses have more devastating abilities that leave their impact years and years down the line like in Vergen, But Druids Circles can last for years as well leaving their mark on a community for decades. Neither created Witchers that was Sorcerers and given the influence that brings to the world that's a pretty damned powerful statement/legacy. Also various Sorcerers/Sorceresses created many of the monsters that plague humanity and others throughout the world...I'd say that shows a great deal of influence and power albeit in a negative way. Then shouldn't Witchers themselves count they're in fact magic users just simple ones but ones none the less...And their impact on the world is innumerable and unmeasureable. Then there's the influence these factions had on Ciri. Sorceresses show that they're not limited by what considered ethical magic either they're willing to use forbidden and "evil" magics to get their goals done. Druids refuse to but their affect on and connection to nature is extremely powerful...What could be done if any animal could be calmed and tamed? If you could manipulate heat and cold in an entire biome? If you can cause a flood or drought? Etc.
      I'd say no matter what they're all powerful just in different ways. In comparison though either the Sorcerers that created the Witchers and/or the Lodge of Sorceresses are the ones that have caused the most amount of influence in the world. They literally caused all of the events in the series to take place.

    Mousesack isnt Ermion. Why do you stick with this? Mousesack is in the books...as mousesack. In the same role as he played in the show.

    Did you have to be "careful with your wording" because the berries of the mistletoe are white when unripe and that you are scared of being called a racist?! If so I don't understand the correlation.

      I think he meant to be careful in the wording because of the connection with "god" he mentioned as he may not be entirely sure what the connection itself implies

    Man you really need to let people know when you’re about to just drop a spoiler I’ve noticed you do it a lot in your video's with no warning at all it’s really annoying. I’ve already completed the quest thankfully but you just come out and say that the coroner is a higher vampire which is such a spoiler for an amazing quest
