      @@abstractfactory8068 well it would certainly be kind to the modding community if Bethesda was to make the new game's engine backwards compatible with Skyrim's. However usually i hear that game designers "build the engine from the ground up, or scratch", which im almost certain i heard about Starfield. Starfield is going to use the same engine as TES6. @@ayoitschris375 well when people say bethesda they mean BGS as in the main studio that makes Elder scrolls and holds the right to its lore and direction,
      ESO is made by other studio and not by the main BGS
      people think that everything that is happening in ESO is going to be a canon lore but
      BGS might not accept it as such and in TES6 the lore might be completely different
      so the guy above i think is saying instead of putting re-releases by BGS they should've focus on something like this,
      but to that i say that even if they want to i don't think they could've done that simply because anything they would've done would've been a canon lore and that restricts the future titles of TES because now they have to make everything look like this in their newer game.

      @@Blackfatrat Bethesda are full time professional developers, these are itinerant volunteers modding in their free time while still having to juggle work, school, etc, it takes Bethesda generally four to five years to make a whole new Elder Scrolls game, they could have released something like this in the 12 years since Skyrim if they wanted to.
      Bethesda also doesn't have to make their own engine, they've been using the same one for over 20 years, just incrementally updated, the same engine that ran Morrowind is now running Starfield and will run TES VI.

    • @morriganlefay5438
      @morriganlefay5438 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Blackfatrat I'm not saying they *should* make a new engine every time, just that they don't, so not having to make an engine isn't really something the modders have over Bethesda.
      Yes there may be more volunteers (though I don't know if they've ever given any numbers on how many people work on these projects) but they're working on no schedule, just whenever they have some free time and the amount of people available is wildly inconsistent. One day you might have twenty people available working on something and the next you might only have three.
      Even with a smaller team you're still going to get further with a consistent, full time development team than a whole bunch of volunteers coming and going at random with a huge variation in skill levels. Bethesda's devs work 9 to 5 five days a week in the best case scenario, considering games often have crunch during development where they end up working much longer hours. A BS Cyrodiil Dev might only have say three hours one week to work on the mod. It's not surprising then that it's taking so long to make what already takes half a decade for a professional studio to pump out.
      And I know they've been focused on other projects, that's the point, I was saying that *if they wanted to* they could have done something like this but they chose not to, instead of it being that they don't have the resources of this ragtag group of fan modders

    I've been keeping track of Beyond Skyrim since at least 2013/14 timeframe for the last 8-9 years now and have been dreaming to see the entirety of Tamriel someday to explore in an Elder Scrolls game. If I had the time or energy to join, I would but I never had the time to do so due to my job commitments with other things but I have at least kept up on what has been going on with these projects regardless. When this is all said and done, its probably going to be on the scale of a MMO actually but in a single player game. But also defying the expectations and norms on how large a mod can be, which is another reason why I am deeply excited about this entire project in its entirety.
    However I will say and no pressure put on these fan projects (yes I understand because of the inconsistent progress made on projects like these), but the next game in a series (ESVI) can pull alot of people away (because they are volunteers and have no contract or commitments to stay on) from these types of projects that can take just as long or longer than a studio with a budget (we should be thankful Bethesda hasn't released a new Single Player Elder Scrolls game as of yet), then taking even more years, then soon decades into vaporware state of never releasing. I know a deadline isn't going to be realistic with these types of projects but since its been several years since the first pre-release: Bruma, we really do need the next piece of content to explore soon. I mean with any game basically of this size, to keep interest up in a project like this and for more people to come onto the project(s) to get them out even faster, more content needs to come out soon. I really hate to stress this, but interest will slowly fade away if nothing more comes out soon, be it a pre-release or one of the smaller projects outside of Beyond Skyrim. Were all dying to play this, but you have to step it up with something new for us to play soon, so even more people would be willing to join and help get this entire collaboration finished since we can only play Bruma for so long.

    • @BrightEmber
      @BrightEmber 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The new Morrowind pre-release trailer just came out- and it says "coming soon". Pre-releases are exactly what you describe: A piece of the pie, to get more people interested in helping make the rest of the pie. However, they can't just keep releasing multiple pieces of the same province, because that doesn't allow for a seamless and unified story, more like the whole game of Skyrim- it would end up more like ESO zones.

    • @Finger112
      @Finger112 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BrightEmber There not going to do too many pre-releases I don't think of each province, its going to be the pre-release and then the full province, no in-between. But they need to start gettin more aggressive at this point in getting more done. ESVI is coming and this could pull alot of people away from these projects. But I know a core group of people will stay on, but not everyone is going to stay.

    • @elric5371
      @elric5371 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They should of devoted more resource to just one province allowing them to push out content faster, and more logically I think, as if you spread out your developers over several projects they are all going to progress slowly and will likely die, so I think it is smarter to push out one province than try and do all at once.

    It is projects like this which delays TES6, in a good way!
    When your official development has such high bars to live up to with the modded scene being so ambitious, you've got to really hit one out of the park to contest!
    It's amazing, keeps them thinking and simply won't allow them to be lazy. (Which is unfortunately a common theme with some recent games, though this isn't directed to TES itself)

    I love the idea but it's so ambitious I'm well aware that the time scale is looking pretty brutal. I doubt we will have a release of a completed main province in the 2020s, and I'm certain that the farther behind ones will never be released, unless the project somehow gets much bigger at some point than it is now, which I doubt.

      @@linkalot7415 Cyrodil released their first county years ago now so hopefully. That none of the other provinces even have that out yet is quite concerning to me tbh, given that it should take only a fraction of the time and effort as the whole province.
      Honestly I would love to just be able to walk around the physical world they built, but it seems we won't get that unless their is a full release.

    • @elric5371
      @elric5371 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they should double down on one province probably cyrodil as it has the most development already, it is smarter to devote resources to one project and push it out as quickly as possible then going on to other provinces, I think the phrase, biting off more than they can chew is relevant here. I think if they were to devote all their resource to one province instead of spreading them out, work will be done faster and not as slowly, meaning we actually get to play it sooner.

    Slight nitpick- you don't need to say Saudi Arabia, Saudi is just denoting the ruling family of the kingdom, it would be like saying imperials are inspired by Augustan Rome, or Skyrim is inspired by Bernadotte Sweden. Additionally the redguards are an accumulation of various near East cultures, rather than just Arabian culture. There is Persian influence, Turkish influence and a scant pieces of ancient mesopotamian influence (like the flooding of their continent)
