I was almost 9 when he died. My family was at a remote church camp in Georgia and somehow the news got to us there. My dad was devastated, it’s about the only time I ever saw him cry.
“Elvis the Pelvis”! They would not show him from the waist down because his movements were considered obscene for television!! A suggestion for Female Friday: kdlang. She’s amazing! 😂😂
Fun fact: in Germany, the young Elvis was called "Elvis, der Preßlufthammer" -> "Elvis, the jackhammer" or "Preßlufthammer-Elvis" -> "Jackhammer-Elvis", due to obvious dance moves.
It was 1953 when he recorded his first record "That's Alright Mama" at "Sun Studios" in Memphis Tennessee. And the sound of Rock & Roll music changed forever...
I remember seeing him on the Louisiana Hayride in 1954, when he first started out. He was allowed his moves. I was a young kid with teenage siblings. Thankfully, both of our parents loved Elvis, so his music was welcomed in our house, unlike many other families at the time. You said he changed the sound of R&R. True, and he definitely made it a visual experience.
You guys are so respectful of Elvis’s early music and his phenomenal talent and moves. Your video is first class.Thank you so much for this! Subscribed!
When I was in high school, I had the fortune to get to know a man who had retired after 50 years working on stage crews in Columbus Ohio. He was volunteering his time to teach us all about working on a stage. The best part was his stories of what various performers were like back stage. He told us that Elvis one of the few performers who would come out of his dressing room, grab a chair and talk with the stage crew as one of the guys. He had so much respect from everyone.
He broke out in 1954 with a song “That’s All Right “ that he recorded at Sun Records owned by Sam Phillips who also found Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison,Carl Perkins! Along with legends like B.B.King and Howlin Wolf recording their also! Elvis then signed with RCA in 55 and the rest is history!!!
The KING! More to try from him: Love Me Tender, Hound Dog, Don't Be Cruel, Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, All Shook Up Elvis died in 1977 at age 42.
You can’t go wrong with any of his songs. He also sang beautiful hymns. SUSPICIOUS MINDS, HOUND DOG, CANT HELP FALLING IN LOVE, BLUE SUEDE SHOES, ITS NOW OR NEVER, DONT BE CRUEL, etc.
Blue Suede Shoes is a cover...i prefer the Carl Perkins version. Having said that, J&A could choose about 70 different songs and they would all be good options where Elvis is concerned.
Come on Elvis did only cover songs no original songs or music Elvis had to rent every single song he recorded there is not one Elvis song ever made but he served a purpose Richard Nixon and the FBI loved him
As far as I know, he was a truck driver, and in 1954, went to a studio to record songs for his mother for her birthday. He happened to record them at Sun Records in Memphis. He became a sensation after his first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show in 1956. And as they say, the rest is history... As Ed would say, that was a really big 'shoo'.
The "1968 Comeback Special" is PEAK cool Elvis - he just oooozed charisma. I would recommend any song from that special, but especially the first one, Heartbreak Hotel.
My 86yr old aunt has dementia and the only thing she remembers with any clarity is ELVIS! We play her his songs Lal the time cause they make her so happy. Suspicious Minds is my all-time favourite.
Jay! Jay! Jay! Jay! Jay! Jay! My “friend”. I can’t let you say that No one should leave this world without having seen Forest Gump. This movie is a gift to mankind, really
@My Signin I'm with you. It's a movie I love to hate. Awful for too many reasons. Except Tom Hanks is great as that imbecile who falls bassackwards into good fortune.
Elvis was one of a kind. This is an outtake from one of his movies Jailhouse Rock. Elvis died Aug. 16, 1977. I was fixing to turn 16 and I went into hysterics when they interrupted my tv show to announce he'd passed away. 5 minutes later my mom had joined me. For more of his iconic dance moves check him out live in Vegas in 1970 performing Suspicious Minds or Polk Salad Annie. The only reason Vegas has huge artists performing there every night is because of what Elvis brought to Vegas. Frank Sinatra may have worked in Vegas but Elvis made it THE destination to see past and present big name music stars perform nightly. How Elvis was discovered is a long and involved story that, when it comes down to it, was due to his persistence and another man's fascination with finding a white artist with a feel for 'black' music. Here is the Wikipedia link for Elvis' life story and his rise from abject poverty to super stardom and iconic legend. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elvis_Presley
If Sam Phillips was trying to find a white artist with a feel for black music, it’s really weird that he was having him record ballads and that Elvis himself started playing That’s All Right Mama” during a break. Much of the mythical history has been debunked, but it’s hard to overcome the folklore version.

@@JonBurrows3577 it's been a long time since I watched any of the documentaries or read any of the biographical books and articles from back then so I don't remember specifics any more. I do stand by my statement that Elvis' perseverance through all the rejection and naysayers was the biggest reason he succeeded.
He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Country and Western Hall of Fame, Gospel Hall of Fame, and a few more. He sang just about everything.
I was his friend for years up until his death. No one knew more than Elvis did how much he screwed up, he owned everything that he did in his life he blamed no one but himself for the shape he was in, and the choices he made. Priscilla also owns her part in the ending of their marriage she and i still talk a lot the loss of Lisa broke her. Elvis and i spoke a few times before his death he was the big brother i never had. We both needed a friend and we were that for each other. The memories we made in those short years are locked away in my heart forever. The last time we spoke we cried a lot because we both knew he was living on borrowed time he called me kiddo he said kiddo everything will be ok i said no it wouldn't because you will not be here anymore. He gave me the biggest hug and that sweet smile i will never forget. 3 days later he was gone and i will never get over it. #forevermysexyjello #forevermyking
Watching your reaction to his music is proof of the amount of joy he brought (and still does) to so many. There is a lot of emphasis on how women and young girls reacted to him but he affected many people on a deeper level. His music and moves just make me happy. I just feel joy when listening to him.
I was 6 years old when Elvis died and i still remembered it. Like a wave of sadness swept the world. Huge respect for him, I realized how amazingly exceptional he was in my later years. He truly was a phenomenal being, so talented and gorgeous.
My Nanna was a big Elvis fan, and she really really loved his gospel music too. Her favourite of his gospel songs was How Great Thou Art, so much so that we played it at her funeral.
I am born in the 80s, but grown up with elvis, the everley brothers and al the old good stuf❤ and i am so thankfull too my parents that they did this for my! 60s 70s and 80s music are the best ! And now my kids grow up with that music, and they loving it when i see my 7 year old song dancing on Elvis songs , my heart is melting ❤
Imagine the crooners have ruled the airwaves for 20 years - Sinatra and Bing Crosby in particular - and then you hear this for the first time. It would be like an electric shock.
I'm a Memphian so I grew up hearing all about Elvis. My Mom LOVED him! I actually saw him in concert but I was only 3. I heard so many stories going to Elvis week celebrations - guys he hung out with said that he was so beautiful that women and men literally threw themselves at him. And that he would sing at the piano after concerts for hours! He loved gospel music.
The great Elvis. The King of Rock and Roll. Elvis started playing rockabilly music. Then later his music style changed dramatically. Jailhouse Rock made him famous for singing and acting. There have so many Elvis movie bios. Just recently a new movie bio came out in theaters called ELVIS this passed August 2022.
I second the vote for "Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles! “Mama’s dancin’ with baby on her shoulder. The sun is settin’ like molasses in the sky.” It was a huge hit for her, and really a shame she didn't have more. Released back in 1990.
Alannah Myles had a number of good songs: Love Is th-cam.com/video/vQOrMzBewG0/w-d-xo.html , Lover Of Mine th-cam.com/video/COKOs4oeiTc/w-d-xo.html , Who Loves You th-cam.com/video/XtQkTH0oRCU/w-d-xo.html , Song Instead Of A Kiss th-cam.com/video/2BsaxKucapY/w-d-xo.html .
Yessss! It references his first ever public appearance where he wore a black velvet shirt. He hadn't started dying his hair so it was his natural dirty blonde. The b/w footage is on YT.
Elvis was far too different after he got out of the US Military and Paul McCartney even said that ..His music had trombone playing in it and other additions that were far from the original rockabilly sound .
Elvis was the King Of Rock & Roll for a reason! He was discovered when he walked into Sun Records to record a record for his Mama for her birthday... the rest is History.
Am so glad I found this today. 45 years since we lost the king, and this was one of the most iconic performances from one of the best movies that showed off young Elvis 👍😎
What is interesting is Elvis went into the army the following year. Elvis Aron Presley entered the United States Army at Memphis, Tennessee, on March 24, 1958, and then spent three days at the Fort Chaffee, Arkansas, Reception Station. He left active duty at Fort Dix, New Jersey, on March 5, 1960, and received his discharge from the Army Reserve on March 23, 1964.
I was SO BLESSED to see him in concert when I was 14! I was NEVER the same again...when he passed the following year I was devastated. Didn't even go to school for a week!!
I turned the car around on the way to work, my wife said what are you doing, I said didn't you hear the radio, Elvis just died and cried because it. I don't think as a man I cried over a person I hadn't even actually met who died.
He was a true entertainer, not many left these days and a very humble person (as humble as one can be with the crowds of people that would rush him especially in the early days). My grandmother was walking in a casino in Las Vegas and she seen him with his entourage walking from one of his shows. She said hello and while he didn't sit down and talk to her or anything he at least stopped turned around said hello and shook her hand. That really speaks a lot to one's character. No matter how bad his health got in the later years his voice never failed him...wow.
Elvis was my first concert. My mom was a HUGE fan, so my dad took us to one of his concerts. I was like 7 or 10 at the time. My mom cried when she heard that Elvis had died.
Elvis' first commercial single, THAT'S ALL RIGHT, was successful mostly in the South in 1954. RCA Records signed him shortly thereafter. In January 1956 Presley released HEARTBREAK HOTEL which became a worldwide hit, reaching number one in four countries.
Welcome back missed you yesterday …. Don’t let Jay break his neck on the trampoline. I bet he’s like my hubby around a trampoline, a huge, huge ,huge kid
I think you'll would like reacting to his performance of Don't Be Cruel on the Ed Sullivan Show on Jan 6 1957. There is also another time he played the same song on the show in 1956. You'll get to see how charismatic he can be with a live audience. th-cam.com/video/CpKyFTYvhpU/w-d-xo.html
This was actually a scene from the movie appropriately called “Jailhouse Rock” that was released in 1957. Elvis starred in the movie and was paid $250,000 and 50% royalties. A ton of money in them days. An eerie fact relating to the movie: the female star Judy Tyler died a few days before the premiere of the movie. Elvis was devastated by this and refuse to watch the film.
Imagine if all you heard were the crooners and the old standards, and then you hear Elvis for the first time. Imagine the shock that must have been. But each decade of Elvis' career was very different yet amazing in it's own way
Elvis was a great rocker in his early career but he could be a great crooner also like in his 1960 #1 hit "It's Now or Never" that I think they should react to
I adore music, it's gotten me through so much in my life. But the day Elvis died my Mother was in hysterics. The news also told me this was not uncommon. I didn't understand that kind of hero worship for a musician. She mourned his passing every year until her death. We listened to Elvis among many others throughout our childhood
As a piano player myself I completely agree with you. I play more than just piano though since everyone around me is used to hearing me on my guitar or mandolin(both acoustic) my friends get this stunned shocked look on their faces when I sit down at a piano since I don't currently own one.
"Heartbreak Hotel" was the song that got Elvis noticed (it was his first single and first number 1 hit). Some other Elvis songs I would recommend are "Love Me Tender" and the "Trouble/Guitar Man" opening of his '68 Comeback Special. There's plenty to choose from though!
You love Sinatra. Elvis was on Frank’s show when he came out of the army. Both in tuxedos❤️❤️. They sing together and harmonize beautifully- be sure to take the longer video where E also sings alone - Stuck on you. His first hit post-army.
Elvis really had it all. Great singer, had the dance moves, handsome, charismatic, good actor, served in the military, philanthropic, you name it, Elvis had it. He wasn’t “The King” for nothing. Long live The King 👑.
My favourite Elvis song, possibly one of my all time favourite songs. ( and I'm a heavy metal fan) Any song is good when Elvis sings it, he was so versatile with his voice. I was 9 yrs old when he died and I remember exactly where I was and how I heard that he had passed away.
You would probably enjoy Jerry Lee Lewis, whole lot of shaking going on and or great balls of fire, Great energetic piano for Jay, same time period as this
Elvis burst on the world stage on the Ed Sullivan Show in 1956 singing Hound Dog, Don't Be Cruel, Love Me Tender and Reddy Teddy and others. It was seen by 86% of the national TV audience. Everyone was eager to see what he was like. There were so many great Elvis songs in the 50's and 60's and he made 31 feature films where he sang his current hits.
1954 Sun Studios "That's Alright Mama" was his breakout hit. He had problems at first because so many people who only heard him thought he was black! (this was deep in segregation times.) Obviously he overcame that and had a long career.
First hit is awesome, "That's alright mama", recorded in 1954 and released on Sun Records. The early Elvis is the only Elvis for me! He revisited that early Elvis when he did his 1968 comeback special, so you may want to check some of that stuff out as well. Peace
One of Elvis’s big dreams from childhood was to be the tenor in a gospel quartet. For years he went to the annual Gospel Quartet convention in Memphis.
This is the way to remember Elvis. He wasn't a saint. He shouldn't be cried over. He was just the coolest dude on the block! Even to this day, there is no one cooler than Elvis. And, I know this is the way his daughter wanted people to remember him.
I remember my Mom crying when we heard that Elvis died in 1977. We were on a family vacation and were waiting out a rain storm at a restaurant when the news came over the radio. You hear stories of how generous he could be. My favorite was him taking a limo ride and asking the driver if he just drove the limo or owned it. When the driver said he was just a driver, Elvis bought the limo and gave it to the driver so he could be his own boss.
Elvis' death was one of the few where I knew exactly where I was and what I was doing at the time: 16 years old, playing pinball (a table called Aladdin's Castle by Bally, built in 1976); I was about 1,000 points from a free game credit, third and final ball, and the news came over the radio in the background at the arcade (one of the ceiling speakers was right above my head) -- my mind blanked out and the ball went down the middle bouncing off the flippers and out of play. Elvis was a bit of an overweight Vegas punchline during that time, but his death hit me hard having grown up with his earlier music.
'C'mon Everybody' from Viva Las Vegas has always been one of my favourites, the chemistry with Ann-Margaret is special - and the epitome of '60's movie dancing.
He was such a beauty in his young years. No one was cooler than Elvis…He passed on August 16, 1977. Still way too young to lose him.,
Lots of us remember where we were that day, when we heard.

@@sherryl3557 He was a psychopath i hated him and i told him many times. Elvis was my friend for 10 yrs. up until his death. Parker was a leech he didn't care about Elvis it was all about the money. I will never watch that movie ever. Regards from Memphis Tn.
I was almost 9 when he died. My family was at a remote church camp in Georgia and somehow the news got to us there. My dad was devastated, it’s about the only time I ever saw him cry.
He actually co- choreographed this number and shows off young Elvis at his best
“Elvis the Pelvis”! They would not show him from the waist down because his movements were considered obscene for television!! A suggestion for Female Friday: kdlang. She’s amazing! 😂😂
I second kd!
You stole my thunder. Lol 😆
True story
Fun fact: in Germany, the young Elvis was called "Elvis, der Preßlufthammer" -> "Elvis, the jackhammer" or "Preßlufthammer-Elvis" -> "Jackhammer-Elvis", due to obvious dance moves.
YES! Please react to kd lang! "Crying" is a great song to start with.
When you hear his music you know he's the KING .he is truly missed by all of us true fans.❤
It was 1953 when he recorded his first record "That's Alright Mama" at "Sun Studios" in Memphis Tennessee. And the sound of Rock & Roll music changed forever...
54. July.
@@kemperboyd16 That's what I've always heard too but idk if it was recorded in 53 as stated. Released in 54
I remember seeing him on the Louisiana Hayride in 1954, when he first started out. He was allowed his moves. I was a young kid with teenage siblings. Thankfully, both of our parents loved Elvis, so his music was welcomed in our house, unlike many other families at the time. You said he changed the sound of R&R. True, and he definitely made it a visual experience.
Such an awesome tune.
There were a couple of demo's recorded in '53 but That's Alright is from the' 54 sessions after he was signed to the label.
My favorite Elvis song is "Suspicious Minds", great song
You guys are so respectful of Elvis’s early music and his phenomenal talent and moves. Your video is first class.Thank you so much for this! Subscribed!
When I was in high school, I had the fortune to get to know a man who had retired after 50 years working on stage crews in Columbus Ohio. He was volunteering his time to teach us all about working on a stage. The best part was his stories of what various performers were like back stage. He told us that Elvis one of the few performers who would come out of his dressing room, grab a chair and talk with the stage crew as one of the guys. He had so much respect from everyone.
He didn’t forget his humble roots, that’s why (unlike some other performers).
Elvis was simply the biggest star the world has ever known. He died in 1977
There is many of reasons to explain it, but as I always tell people, he's the king, and to this day it's a well defended crown
The KING!
More to try from him:
Love Me Tender, Hound Dog, Don't Be Cruel, Heartbreak Hotel, Blue Suede Shoes, All Shook Up
Elvis died in 1977 at age 42.
Really good suggestions. Agree 100%.
All Shook Up should be Jordan's theme song!
@@KittykatOz lol. Let's get them to listen to the song, then ask him what he thinks of your suggestion
More early, upbeat, fun dance Elvis songs would be "Hound Dog," "Don't be Cruel," and "All Shook Up," among MANY others
Yes!!!
Don't forget "Return to Sender" love this one 🤗🤗🤗
“One Night” a good Elvis. “Heartbreak Hotel” was his first really big hit.
I keep suggesting this as it shows why he is King of Rock and Roll, period, full stop, no better Rock song on earth or singer.
You can’t go wrong with any of his songs. He also sang beautiful hymns. SUSPICIOUS MINDS, HOUND DOG, CANT HELP FALLING IN LOVE, BLUE SUEDE SHOES, ITS NOW OR NEVER, DONT BE CRUEL, etc.
I think my favorite Elvis song is "Burning Love"!
@@jtkool1503 Mine too! I love that song! I love all of his stuff tho! He's a Legend!
Blue Suede Shoes is a cover...i prefer the Carl Perkins version. Having said that, J&A could choose about 70 different songs and they would all be good options where Elvis is concerned.
Come on Elvis did only cover songs no original songs or music Elvis had to rent every single song he recorded there is not one Elvis song ever made but he served a purpose Richard Nixon and the FBI loved him
@@bige392 Elvis recorded many originals. You don’t have to be a singer-songwriter to record the original version of a song.
There's never been anybody like Elvis, and there never will be.
Elvis used to give away Cadilacs on a whim . Sounds crazy but he did it.
I do think Michael Jackson was pretty genius too
@@bjornsantens3929 He got his moves from Elvis.
Michael Jackson
@@michaelfoxx547 He just copied Elvis's moves.
Yes definitely. My favorite from that is "One Night With You". I saw him in person in 1970 and he was still so beautiful.
I loved the 68 come back. My favorite was " Trying to Get to You"
He was so damn cool in that special..
@@aziniowa Agreed!
Black leather Elvis cannot be beat…. Swoon.
Baby what you want me to do. OMG ❤️
My 86yr old aunt has dementia and the only thing she remembers with any clarity is ELVIS! We play her his songs Lal the time cause they make her so happy. Suspicious Minds is my all-time favourite.
Amber gets what we all see in Elvis. He was beautiful!!
Jay! Jay! Jay! Jay! Jay! Jay!
My “friend”. I can’t let you say that
No one should leave this world without having seen Forest Gump. This movie is a gift to mankind, really
Can you say Forest Gump reaction video?!
Glad John Travolta turned down the role .... Bet he's not glad ...
Forrest Gump And Elvis should not be mentioned in the same breath, that movie is a cluster&uck and total misexploitation of history.
@My Signin I'm with you. It's a movie I love to hate. Awful for too many reasons.
Except Tom Hanks is great as that imbecile who falls bassackwards into good fortune.
@@clevellbarney8917 You've been such a witch since that house fell on your sister ... Did you wake up on the wrong side of no one?
The first music video.
If Sam Phillips was trying to find a white artist with a feel for black music, it’s really weird that he was having him record ballads and that Elvis himself started playing That’s All Right Mama” during a break. Much of the mythical history has been debunked, but it’s hard to overcome the folklore version.
@@JonBurrows3577 all I know is that was what Wikipedia said in so many words.

Need to watch his 1968 comeback special where he sings with his band mates and just their guitars...Iconic!
I've always loved Elvis's Are You Lonesome Tonight. Lovely song.

"Suspicious Minds" (live in Las Vegas) is good representation of Elvis having fun in the 70s.
Elvis was the man, he’s criminally underrated now.
Elvis is not underated…he’s still the king
Actually in the last 5 years quite a few modern artists have referenced or sampled his hits. You'd be surprised .
His girlfriends were criminally underage
@@kenchristie9214 not only to the younger generation. I grew up in the 80s and nobody was talking about Elvis.
Not underrated.... borderline forgotten.... recency bias
I was the same age and its the first news story I remember x
Same. I remember going to school and hearing it on the radio. It was a sad day.
Wow, reality twist! So very true, though I never thought of it that way.
A later Elvis tune, and not quite as dancy, is "Suspicious Minds." I'd love to see your reaction to it.

Fabulous song…written about Pricilla
I actually like Waylon Jennings and Jessie Culture version better. It makes more sense as a duet.
Love that song, though it's heartbreaking.
If you watch it , watch the version from Vegas 70.
That's my favorite Elvis song.
I second the vote for "Black Velvet" by Alannah Myles! “Mama’s dancin’ with baby on her shoulder. The sun is settin’ like molasses in the sky.” It was a huge hit for her, and really a shame she didn't have more. Released back in 1990.
She has such a phenomenal voice. One of my favorite songs from that decade👍

Yessss! It references his first ever public appearance where he wore a black velvet shirt. He hadn't started dying his hair so it was his natural dirty blonde. The b/w footage is on YT.
From the movie Jailhouse Rock. He did it all. Rock, country, gospel, pop. We were blessed to have him. Such a beautiful man.
He came up with all the dance moves, for that song. In the movie.
His first massive hit was Heartbreak Hotel. One of my all time favorites.
YEAH! In Forest Gump it was when Forest's mom has a boarding house and Elvis rented a room. So funny!
I love that movie!
Forrest taught him how to dance like that!
I heard that Elvis came up with his own choreography in Jailhouse Rock ❤️😍❤️😍👍🇬🇧
Elvis ruled the charts for years, until January 1964. Then the Beatles blew everyone out of the water and changed the trajectory of rock and roll.
I remember saying as the Beatles were on Ed Sullivan that they would never be as good as Elvis! And yet they did in their own way.

Elvis himself choreographed that whole dance number.
Great song, just a cool tune. Would recommend "A Little Less Conversation" and "Suspicious Minds". Dig it! Good stuff.
Y’all’s reaction to hearing Elvis sing was utterly adorable!!!!!
All of his songs are amazing Don't Be Cruel, Suspicious Minds, Blue Suede Shoes, Teddy Bear.
Many good singers have come and gone, some wonderful singers exist today. But there will never be another Elvis!

Elvis Aaron Presley.. 🎙 🎼 ♥️
His best period. He was a rocker first and foremost
This is the first song of Elvis I ever heard I haven’t listen to a lot of his songs but I am a fan Rest In Peace Elvis 💜💜💜💜
I'm always amazed at what our younger generation has not heard.
"BLUE SUEDE SHOES" and "HOUND DOG" are a must listen.
Love this video! It’s Elvis in all his glory. Great moves, fun song. He had such charisma. When I think of Elvis this is how I see him.
Imagine if all you heard were the crooners and the old standards, and then you hear Elvis for the first time. Imagine the shock that must have been. But each decade of Elvis' career was very different yet amazing in it's own way
Elvis was a great rocker in his early career but he could be a great crooner also like in his 1960
#1 hit "It's Now or Never" that I think they should react to
Elvis was known as “Elvis the Pelvis” for his rowdy dance moves!🤣
I adore music, it's gotten me through so much in my life. But the day Elvis died my Mother was in hysterics. The news also told me this was not uncommon. I didn't understand that kind of hero worship for a musician. She mourned his passing every year until her death. We listened to Elvis among many others throughout our childhood
You guys should react to Jerry Lee Lewis. Great Balls of Fire and Whole Lotta Shaking Going On. He was amazing on the piano.

That's All Right first single 1954
You guys i am from middle east and Elvis was the love of my life you don’t know what your generation missed❤❤
You love Sinatra. Elvis was on Frank’s show when he came out of the army. Both in tuxedos❤️❤️. They sing together and harmonize beautifully- be sure to take the longer video where E also sings alone - Stuck on you. His first hit post-army.

My favourite Elvis song, possibly one of my all time favourite songs. ( and I'm a heavy metal fan) Any song is good when Elvis sings it, he was so versatile with his voice. I was 9 yrs old when he died and I remember exactly where I was and how I heard that he had passed away.
I was 9 when JFK was killed & recall that like you do Elvis. Both left us too soon.

The '68 TV special album is fantastic.

Born in 1956, I grew up in the greatest time for music!!
Elvis was called “The King of Rock n Roll” for a reason.
My favorite Elvis song.
One of Elvis’s big dreams from childhood was to be the tenor in a gospel quartet. For years he went to the annual Gospel Quartet convention in Memphis.
Elvis started recording in July 1954 when he was 19 and made his first tv appearance in january 1956
You need to do Suspicious Minds by Elvis.. its amazing
My fav! 👍
A great one that your daughters would love is "I just want to be your Teddy Bear". He definitely brings the DEEP voice in that one.
'C'mon Everybody' from Viva Las Vegas has always been one of my favourites, the chemistry with Ann-Margaret is special - and the epitome of '60's movie dancing.
