Thank you so much for this video! We were quoted $500 to fix our washer, which is only $60 shy of what we paid for it. I'm still out $140 for the service call, but we bought the suspension rod kit for about $130 and were able to fix the washer ourselves in about 30 minutes. It did take three of us - my son held the tub out of the way while my husband held the flashlight and handed me parts. I did the actual work because my arms and hands are small enough to easily fit in there. The washer is only 2 years old, btw. I'm so glad we didn't give up on it.

I'm not sure if anyone else figured this out but rather than trying to fight with vise grips and cutting your arms up you can stick one of the new springs through the hole hook onto the old spring and pull it up and insert the new keeper very easily.

:-) wish I'd seen this a few days ago! GREAT idea. What I did was pop thr tub top piece off which gave all sorts of toom. Vice grip method sucked.

Thank you! I followed the video, but had trouble getting the new rod through the support hole on the washer. So, I used the old rod, looped it to the new one and pulled it through! It was fast and I replaced all four suspension rods in less than 45 minutes!

Pro tip, if you use the hook end of the old rod, in the hook end of the new rod it is a lot easier to orient it into the bushing lock.

Thanks for the amazing tutorial! I had two repairmen come to my house and they fixed the problem for a few weeks before it started to had the same problem, they told me i needed a new washer.. I decided to try and buy new absorbers and repare it my self because they never changed the absorber.. The washer is working great now, so thanks for saving me a few bucks on a new washer!

Thank you Steve and PartSelect. With the information in your video I was able to replace the suspension rods in my washer. My 11-year-old son was my second pair of hands and all I needed him to do was slide the top socket onto the rod for each corner while I pulled up the rod and drum. We are rnning a load now and the wobble is gone. Thank you again.

Would worn suspension cause the entire wash basket to drop down about 3" when full of water?
Can't seem to find info on this issue. Just started happening.
No off balance or banging issues. The entire basket just drops down, almost to the floor when full.

Your tutorial was very helpful. However instead of locking pilers use the old rod to hook the new rod then pull it through the bushing sleeve then set new bushing around the new rod. A 15-minute fix saving you lost of money.

  • @santacl11

The video was very helpful but I did run into a couple of problems. 1. The hole at the bottom of the tub where the spring goes did not have a slot so that you could install it from the top, you had to first insert the assembly from the bottom therefore had to keep going from bottom to top. 2. I had to work in a very limited space. Between these two problems a job that should have taken less than an hour took 3 hours.

Did anyone notice that he didn't put the hook in the upper ball correctly? Look at it the way it was in the beginning at 2:55 and how he put it at 6:43. He did the same thing on the back one at 9:58. 🤣

Lifting the drum and heavy motors with one hand is nearly impossible. On our machine you cannot do it without two people, one holding up the drama the other one to maneuver the rod into the plastic part.

I tried all these fixes to get the washer to stop shaking. Here is how I fixed it. Take out the tub, it comes right out after removing the center bolt. Flip the tub upside down and shake it. Remove the $2.50 in coin trapped between the two parts of the tub. That's it, the shocks are fine, they slide on the rods, the springs are fine if not broken. Washer works like new.

With the lid open and washer empty, push back and forth on the center of the drum. If the whole drum moves around very easily, the spring rods are too loose = bad
