    Keep talking Brian. Most people don't think about their roof until it involves the wallet or purse. The more you know.

    Thanks a lot for all your videos. I've learnt a lot. My roofer couldn't fix my roof after trying twice. Wish you guys can be around.

    Nail the vent onto the wood roof with synthetic underlayment peal and stick under the vent . Of course cut the underlayment hole for air exhaust . Use neoprene washer shank nails and nail through the vent flange . Put underlayment on the exposed flange ( peal and stick which will cover the the vent flange and nails ) . Cover the underlayment with shingles ( remember to remove the vent cover before nailing the vent to the wood roof so you have clearance to nail the vent to the roof and to place synthetic
    underlayment and put shingles on then put fan cover back ) .

    It helps a lot when you have access to the under roof area. Im my case no on a corrugated metal roof and it is like finding rat shi_ in flour.

      Just shift the flour and it'll taste fine.

    Looks like a nicer house than usual. Better roof job too. Do you have an opinion on attic fans? Some people claim they aren't enough to be effective. (Much more than just standard roof venting that is.)

    Why don’t you redo the section of shingles around those vents?

  • @leighwhite9656

    Looks like they capped over a peak that had ridge vent before

    HOw much are you charging for basic work like this?

    • @accent1975
      @accent1975 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its not basic , finding the problem is the job not easy as u see , doing the job is hobby , he probably charge $280 to 350 max

    • @eastside0434
      @eastside0434 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@accent1975 280-350 for applying 1/2 a tube of caulking and no guarantee you found the leak.

    Side note question. What’s your opinion on mixing exhaust ventilation? Wouldn’t the power vents make the RVO’s intake when they’re on? I typically do either power vents only, box vents only or ridge vent only.

  • @Faruk651
    @Faruk651 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I don’t think that nail hole under a vent flange would cause a leak that bad. Is it just dripping straight down to the drywall? Wouldn’t it be better to go in the addict and check that spot visually. It would be very obvious if it is bad enough to stain ceiling.

    nice video! would've been better if you showed the actually fix.... what you describe isn't as intuitive to a diy-er like myself..

    It doesn’t really matter if they nail right there all that could’ve been avoided if they would of sat the vent on roof cement/caulking eliminates the problem of water “trickling” underneath it

    Where did you get the ladder standoff? I seen A few of your videos. Another question is. Does cougar paws grip to metal roofs ? I been thinking about investing in cougar paws.
    I use the pitch hoppers. And they work great!

    • @GrandRoofingInc
      @GrandRoofingInc  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I got the latter standoff on Amazon there's a link in the description. If I can remember the Cougar Paws grip steel But not if they or the roof were dusty.

      Thanks for the reply. I will def check out the standoff. I got the older styles that uses the C clamps and wing nuts.

    Why would anyone put an exposed nail on a vent or boot? The nails go UNDER THE SHINGLES!!!!!
