Littering is an endemic issue to the Springs and the Denver Metro area and I strongly disagree with your assessment that it's not from people that live here. That is patently false. I have personally observed numerous incidents in which Colorado residents actively litter. I live next to a high school in the Denver Metro area. Students regularly use the ground around them as a trash can. Residents regularly get fast food, drive to a local park to eat, and then set their trash outside of their car and leave. Happens every day, all over the city. Residents here simply do not care. We have a societal issue in which people think it's okay to litter their own city.

One thing that sucks is lack of diversity. No good grocery shops besides the usual monopoly of Krogers, Safeway, and Walmart. Restaurants that are considered high quality are average at most. Coming from Chicago years ago, I got accustomed to the life here but definitely notice how much it lacks. There is plenty of opportunities here to build something new and attract a crowd but real estate market doesn't go together with that idea. I do have hopes for this city as long as people come together and politicians don't ruin it. Last thing, the infrastructure is another topic....
I’ve heard that many times about the grocery stores. I guess I’ve just gotten so used to it but it would be nice to have more stores. I imagine these things will come more and more as we grow. Thanks for the comment. Super helpful perspective!
We've always had high crime, the media and police have always been very good at covering it up......my car was broken into twice, in 2012 and 2013...on the West side.
Crime happens, I've been stolen from too but only once my whole life. But as a state, statistically it is worse now. Once they legalized weed and mass amounts of people started moving here for that and the plethora of other reasons in the mid 2010s, that created so much more opportunity for crime. Colorado Springs has dropped 1%, but as a state we are like in the top 6 worst crime rates now if i remember right.
The weather has not changed. Springs has always had torrential down pours and flooding as well as hail. The news is making drama out of the weather. The weather, in fact, is far more mild than it used to be. Not many days of below zero temperatures like when I was a kid.

@@LivingtheSprings Well, at least I feel better now that it's not you (if it were, you could just ask me to stop & I would). It takes some time/effort for me to do that yet (having Dyslexia posting coherently is very difficult). Just now, I was trying to response to "HiHoSilvey" as she directly asked me a question -- but 3-4 times trying ALL my responses disappeared, even one asking her to contact me directly (since I couldn't post here in your channel). Re: those negative comments you read in the beginning about Colorado Springs, I would agree with them IF the authors were describing Denver (and possibly/maybe Pueblo), but I don't see their validity if talking about Colorado Springs (El Paso County). Or Castle Rock (just north in Douglas County). Yes, I DID leave Colorado Springs (COS) a while back but it wasn't for any of those reasons EXCEPT those housing market related: House prices, but MORE importantly the high mortgage interest rate when I left. But sadly, it's STILL high 2 years later so nothing really changed housing-wise. :-( As for crimes/trash -- yes, certain parts of the Springs aren't places I'd want to frequent, but every city has those, yes? IMO, COS has less of them than most cities its size. When I was in MOST (other) areas of the COS, I didn't see such trash/crime or other such issues. Well, just one nut-case/road-rager but that's another topic (wasn't worried though, HE should have been -- I carry). That is, at least COS was fine up to the time I left (October 2022) -- hope COS hasn't gone THAT much downhill since then as it wasn't that long ago! As for traffic, being retired I didn't need to be out during Rush Hour -- no 9-5 daily grind anymore -- so getting caught in bumper-to-bumper traffic on Powers Blvd (for one example) was rare. I certainly WAS on Powers regularly, but not THEN when it's busy (early morning/early evening). There are lots of retirees in COS, so I'm guessing THEY aren't out then, either. But yes, working people HAVE to be out on their way to/from work. But even if I DID get caught in heavier traffic, I only had to sit-out maybe 3 traffic lights -- no big deal as it was a rare experience (for me). MOST of the time I could fly up/down Powers completely "unmolested." ;-) As for CO weather, the only thing I "fear" (!) is the serious HAIL storms CO can have at ANY time -- sort of like the Sword of Damocles hanging over Coloradans 24/7, if you will -- as CO hail can be (IS) very damaging to vehicles and homes. Fires, yes...but not in the city, in the outskirts/country grasslands really. Or the pine forests of the foothills and Black Forest areas. Rude people? I don't AT ALL recall that being an issue when I was living there in COS, either (twice: 2013-2016 & 2020-2022). Or even rude drivers: In general, I actually found CO drivers friendlier than drivers here in TX! In fact, I had to lose my "Texas Road Rage Response" when I moved to CO. Did that. :-) All the above said, the main issue I left COS STILL remains: The expensive housing market and high mortgage interest rates. So I moved back to WAY cheaper TX to better prepare for the mortgage pre-qualificaion process in the future, HOPEFULLY come late 2025 when I can return to COS and BUY vs. continuing to be a renter indefinitely. Won't know what the housing market scene will be in COS until then, but that's what I'm doing here now in (did I say WAY cheaper?) TX, which allows me to prepare faster (more freed-up cash here in TX to throw at improving my DTI Ratio, for example). So I HOPE in 2 years time the COS housing market -- AND mortgage interest rates -- will be more affordable to most of us potential Buyers, who are still on the sidelines waiting for the smoke to clear. If it does NOT improve, I may (sadly) give up on CO and move to FL (The Villages or OTOW, both 55+ communities) instead...or just stay here in TX (again, WAY cheaper). But I PREFER moving back to COS! One of those 3 options. At least I have options. And having options is always a good thing. ;-) -- BR

Not sure what's up with TH-cam notifications, but a few subscriptions aren't getting notices. Just letting you know in case other subscribers aren't getting notices also. -- BR
The population grew by 15% between 2010 and 2020 and is on pace to match that rate for 2030. Yeah, you're not going to get the 40-50% population growth you got in the 60s-80s simply because so many people live here now. But it certainly isn't shrinking nor are people fleeing the city.
Absolutely! It's fascinating to see how the population dynamics have shifted over the decades. Growth is still a positive sign for the city's development!

Too much construction traffic 🙄 The only reason I'm still hear is my elderly family members who has lived in pikes peak park since the 60s. Now there neighbors had homeless people living in there yard. Code enforcement has been called along with the police. It's not the same for them, they shouldn't have to put up with this while in there 90s
Here the deal. Your city officials have control of this. Example if I come to your home you have rules. Well Colorado have rules and if people do not obey bby them make them leave. You co not come into to someone else home and destroy it. I live here in Fl and as much as I hate it. Our Governor has place rules here.
😢 I’m planning move to Cos, I’m from Houston, but I don’t like Houston, I have high expectations of Cos but with this video I don’t know what thinking 😢 could you help me to take a good decision?
Last year I visited CS with an intend to move there, I kinda felt life is too slow + older lifestle and with recent migrants handling by democrats cities / states + income tax + job arent there even in Denver !! So those were my reason to stay put where I am
Please note (and I think this still holds true): Of the 4 major cities in CO -- Boulder, Denver, Colorado Springs (COS) and Pueblo -- only COS leans conservative/Republican (I'm guessing the ratio is 60/40, not sure). And MOST of the rural counties lean conservative as well. So if one is considering moving to "Scenic Colorado" (and it certainly is!), is a liberal/Democrat and wanted to be around people with similar "values," those other 3 cities would be their better choices -- IMO. I stayed away from Denver (and its decline -- as you suggested) unless I HAD to go there (personal business) and was always glad to get back to COS. Yes, Denver has LOTS of nice/upscale places to live (rent or buy) but I didn't fit-in politics/values-wise -- COS was more comfortable (for several reasons). Whatever, currently "The Plan" (for me) is I hope to move back to COS in 2 years (and in West TX now), rent first, then find a property to buy -- IF the COS housing market & mortgage interest rates (my MAIN obstacle!) are more affordable for us "average buyers" (those needing to carry a mortgage, not paying cash up front) -- especially for first-time buyers. I hope so! -- BR
Colorado Springs is my hometown. The people who have moved here are rude a-holes. The driving sucks. Doesn't matter what day of the week everything is overcrowded now. It is super expensive here compared to how it was for so many years. The natural disasters have become insane.
Was one my favorite places. Got fired. No other tech company to work for in small city.
I'm hoping I get a remote job, otherwise I get to commute to Denver. Yeah there's no tech jobs in the Springs.
Tech jobs are just like that. Most techies are very smart, but unstable people.
@@francisebbecke2727 Even more unstable are the drug addicts who tend to move here. Luckily I'm moving away soon.

Just to clarify...we've always had flooding...I remember crazy flooding in 70s and 80s
I wasn’t born then 😁
@@LivingtheSprings 😂
Not to get into a battle, but that's kind of the point of my comment, you weren't here, so you can't say the flooding is new....respectfully.
@@davidday6736 yes probably could have been more specific in saying “in my lifetime” but I wasn’t declaring that it never ever happened 😄
We've always had high crime, the media and police have always been very good at covering it up......my car was broken into twice, in 2012 and 2013...on the West side.
Crime is everywhere
Crime happens, I've been stolen from too but only once my whole life. But as a state, statistically it is worse now. Once they legalized weed and mass amounts of people started moving here for that and the plethora of other reasons in the mid 2010s, that created so much more opportunity for crime. Colorado Springs has dropped 1%, but as a state we are like in the top 6 worst crime rates now if i remember right.
exactly why im moving to woodland
Texas? Or Woodland Park?

Whatever. This place kicks ass.
The weather has not changed. Springs has always had torrential down pours and flooding as well as hail. The news is making drama out of the weather. The weather, in fact, is far more mild than it used to be. Not many days of below zero temperatures like when I was a kid.
Thank you for sharing!
Are you deleting my posts?
Hey Bill! I’m not 🙂 You provide helpful information so I appreciate and welcome your posts. Not sure why they’re not posting but I do see some of them. Comments that may be offensive are never posted per TH-cam guidelines. But I don’t see that’s the case with yours.
@@LivingtheSprings Well, at least I feel better now that it's not you (if it were, you could just ask me to stop & I would). I do try to write "helpful" (and complete as I can) comments, but at least half of them disappear: I see them posted but then when I refresh the page they're gone.
I don't know what's goign on but it makes me look bad/rude, as if I'm ignoring her -- I don't do that.
And I don't see anything "offensive" in my comments (at least my current ones trying to answer HiHoSilvey!) and I avoid posting actual links (I just describe them so they can be looked up) so I don't think that's the issue.
I'll try one more time siting it in a new thread, attn: HiHoSilvey.
Thanks,

@@billredding2000 these came through! Weird!
As for crimes/trash -- yes, certain parts of the Springs aren't places I'd want to frequent, but every city has those, yes?
MOST of the time I could fly up/down Powers completely "unmolested." ;-)
As for CO weather, the only thing I "fear" (!) is the serious HAIL storms CO can have at ANY time -- sort of like the Sword of Damocles hanging over Coloradans 24/7, if you will -- as CO hail can be (IS) very damaging to vehicles and homes.
Did that. :-)
All the above said, the main issue I left COS STILL remains: The expensive housing market and high mortgage interest rates.
And having options is always a good thing. ;-)

Weak men create hard times. Keep supporting the same politicians that are destroying Colorado. You get what you ask for…see above…

Hi Iris it’s Maggie help! So my son being 17 has viewed not only this video but several others he says it all sounds negative 😢 I was wondering my friend if you can possibly maybe share the good things about Colorado. Cost of living is too high unfortunately 😕
Crime is on the rise.
The citadel mall there is always an issue. Too much construction traffic 🙄
The only reason I'm still hear is my elderly family members who has lived in pikes peak park since the 60s.
What makes you hate Florida?
😢 I’m planning move to Cos, I’m from Houston, but I don’t like Houston, I have high expectations of Cos but with this video I don’t know what thinking 😢 could you help me to take a good decision?

Fountain and widefield , security is where it's at. Just don't drink the water!!!
I hope so!

I hear that often about it being slow. Thanks for sharing!
Colorado Springs is my hometown. The people who have moved here are rude a-holes. The driving sucks. Doesn't matter what day of the week everything is overcrowded now. It is super expensive here compared to how it was for so many years. The natural disasters have become insane. For the last couple years I've actually started saying that I just can't stand my hometown anymore. How horrible. I really think I've seen Colorado Springs decline for the worse in the last 12 years.

I love Colorado spring because the weather beautiful at every season:
Just wait til all the migrants come 😂
We are not a sanctuary city according to the Mayor :) The lawsuit targets HB19-1124 and one other law that restricts the ability of local governments to detain immigrants for the federal government.
Every city in the world is developing. Try moving to Hawaii and then complain about space, expense, etc. From plantation, to all the locals being forced out.
