They accomplish great feats of strength and bravery but have feet of clay. Best example would be the Number 1 hero of ancient Greece himself, Hercules. Endeavour right now is an amazing character leading the heroes from the front and struggling to deal with his abusive past. So much development for this character
The thing about Endever, is that in his selfish and blind ambition he ended up burning his family in more ways than one. Leaving tragic scars that may fade, but may never fully heal. And though he may regret his actions and want to atone, even if endeavor manages to rebuild that bridge he burnt down. It will never be the same bridge. Though endeavor is also cursed to be haunted by the ghosts of his past. Not just by the family he burned through his own selfishness, but by the fire that he started but could never put out.
I like this video, because it truly reflects endeavor's struggle.. I mean yeah he did bad shit but it's obvious he wasn't in his best state of mind too! Imagine working your ass out for all your life, doing more than anyone else, sacrificing more than anyone else, and yet not manage to receive the results, appreciation or success that you've been striving for... it would bring anybody to the brink of mental breakdown or madness. If you paid enough attention to the hints and the small sequence of thought from him you'd see his changing, slowly moving towards a different path, and i truly like how horikoshi is handling it. I only hope he doesn't end up killing him after all this buildup :\
I first saw this months ago but I lost it, but I'm glad I found it again, because Endeavor is actually one of my favourite characters in the series, and this analysis video is really damn good
Honestly I see endeavors arc to face his demons and rebuild the relationships he destroyed as a very real and very relatable “heroic” journey. I root for him
What I like about Endeavor is that we have never got to see an abusive father try to make amens for what he did. Abusive fathers are always depicted as pure evil and never changing in shows or movies unless anyone knows any.
So about Just Another Hero, the instrumental version plays whenever heroes are called upon to do something important. But the lyrics ONLY play in reference to Endeavor, which means Endeavor's own theme is still just another part of the legacy all Heroes share. Even musically, Endeavor is shafted as less important than the Symbol of Peace
Another way to see this as endeavour as a cautionary tale about pursuing something fleeting. Sure its admirable to aim for no.1 spot. I just have one question, what's next? What are his plans to maintain that position afterwards? Can he even be no.1 for the rest of his life?
He's also a good example of Stain's philosophy. Endeavor pretends to be a Hero, building his entire identity around it, but he doesn't exemplify the ideals of heroism, abusing and neglecting his family.
He became #1 to me when he did the pose after defeating the noumu... the chills i got on that image, heres hoping the manga will do that scene justice.
Just a little nitpick, Endeavor didn't want his offspring to get the Ice quirk + fire quirk to cover two elements, it was to cover the weakness of his fire quirk, overheating the body. Although it's not seen as of yet, he never bothered to train Shoto on his ice quirk, just the fire one that he himself has experience using. He basically wanted Shoto to be Endeavor 2.0 and live vicariously through him.
Endeavor is gonna earn the title of No. 1. He's already shown he's willing to change and become a hero people, and especially his family, can look up to. He won't be All Might, because there will never be another All Might. However, he doesn't have to be; Endeavor needs to become the greatest hero through his own growth, not comparing himself to his predecessor.
I enjoy the image of All Might holding baby Bakugou, baby Deku, and baby Todoroki. The three of them are the All Might Fan Club, or as I like to call them. The Small Mights.
Really great analysis on everything concerning Endeavor. Easily the best I've seen. My only criticism is the fact that you equate the "No.1 hero" with the "Symbol of Peace". All Might's legacy may have caused the terms to became interchangeable, but that mentality is also partly to blame for the power vacuum after his retirement. I suspect the remainder of the story will explore how you can be the "No.1 hero" without really being the "Symbol" *and* vice versa.
Despite turning a new leaf in his life, I still believe Endeavor doesn't deserve to be called a hero. Not out of spite, but because of the things he did to his family - which is what I'd call the pinnacle of petty obsession at best, and downright criminal at worst. I give credit to him that he realizes what he's done was wrong, but something has to give. You can't keep a secret like the stuff he did to them away from the public eye forever. And if one of his children exposes him - or even worse one of the League of Villains find out this and uses it to publicity shame him - it'll cause a lot of damage for the Hero Society's image. Far more so than All Might's retirement ever did. As his crimes would leave a taint the #1 spot which would make the public doubt the legitimacy of future heroes that claim that spot. If Endeavor really wants to make it up to his family? Show them that he is truly sorry and wants to redeem himself? I think he should not only resign as the 1# Hero on the grounds of him not deserving it - both for the reasons why he didn't want it and why he shouldn't have it to begin with - but confess his crimes he committed against them. The laws the law. He practically terrorized his wife and children their entire lives because none of them could meet his expectations and demands.
That's shounen anime for you though at Endeavour not truly forgiven unlike Vegeta and Itachi are lauded over their actions and author tries to justify their terrible actions never really having to answer for their atrocities.
Endeavors treatment of his family has nothing to do with his job as a pro hero, the only thing that could take the title from him would he like if he was killing or corrupt, like using his title of number 1 for his own personal gain like doing whatever he pleased and not doing his job and he takes his job very seriously, its said that he has solved more cases than even all might, Endeavor was a prick to his family but that's not enough to take the title from him, like it or not he's the only person that can fill all mights position since he is now the most powerful hero in japan since all might retired, just saying.
In the chapter were the new Top 10 heroes introduction and it's succeeding chapters, Endeavor had already became the top 1 not only in the rank but also in the heart of some people because of the motivation of the top 2 hero, Hawk. His character has already grown and knows already that he don't need to imitate All Might. He just need to be him. He also admitted that what he done to his wife and children was horrible and promised them he will change and he is proud with his children.
I'm actually rooting for him circa chapter 177, I want to see him grow to be a more understanding hero that cares for people more and gains more popularity.
love your videos! ive been sharing them with ppl that are more or less up to date with the manga, since most of the stuff about hero aca on youtube is mainly about the anime, so its awesome to have someone cover stuff thats later on in the story~ :D so, i dunno if here is the best place to ask about it, but have you heard about the threats horikoshi's gotten about the recent chapters? im guessing the majority of them are not liking how the story is about Endeavour and hows hes changing. (for better or worse, i dont wanna spoil things here for ppl who arent reading the manga) id like to know your thoughts about the current kerfuffle. keep up the great work on the videos~ :D
I think there is more to his backstory then we are seeing, it almost feels like he was a Soldier and he might have PTSD, he almost reminds me exactly of my dad (minus the flame powers).
Much like the majority of the BnHA fan-base, I don't like Endeavor because of what he done to Shoto for the sake of his own goals. I would feel same way in Shoto's shoes if my father was like his, but that is just it? We can vaguely picture what Enji Todoroki a.k.a Endeavor has gone through to become the person we see him as today. This calls for like a flashback/prequel spin-off series on Endeavor or this topic will later come up in the main series when Endeavor meets his end during a fight with a villain he can't win and dies honorably?
He WANTED to prove that he was better than All Might and saw it as a personal competition to reach number 1, but then to just be given number 1 because All Might retired, of course he didn't take that well
my friends keep asking me why i won't forgive/don't like endeavor yet but my father is so, SO similar to him that i just cant. he saw me as the perfect child and pushed me so hard to the point that i would even refuse to identify with his surname, using my middle name or my mother's maiden name instead. it took me such a long time to realize what i went through was not normal, how other kids weren't terrified of getting anything less than 100% in a test or not following their schedules even slightly. im still trying to get out of that toxic ass perfection mindset, my father seems to be trying too as he gets older (i won't ignore that lmfao im not an idiot), but its going to take a long time to fix all the shit he's done. but hey at least i can use his credit card with no limits and im inheriting majority of his stuff.
I feel like endeavor will develop in a chapter where shoto might be in danger or near death of some kind to which endeavor will grow and develop as a character.

Give me that 10 dollars
Meti『Not The Bad Guy』 gosh darnit. I don't have a Patreon, but you'll get your 10 dollars in, give or take, 2-3 years.
Yes do that
lop must stop use that 10 dollars to buy shimoneta
I’m trying to like him now that I’m reading the manga but dude.... you got a long way.
"Why Endeavour can never truly be the #1 hero"
But Meti! He was number 1!
I love Endeavor, I hope he progresses more in the Manga.
Alright so I definitely appreciate Endeavor a lot more
I enjoy the image of All Might holding baby Bakugou, baby Deku, and baby Todoroki.
He is now though. Number 1 confirmed. Possibly a changed man.
Hype.
The high pitch sound in the song playing the back ground hurts my ears. It reminds me of my alarm.
The video just began and you already got me laughing
When it comes to his work life he’s pretty much like Batman.
I just want Shoto to get a fire beard, he would look badass
I'm actually rooting for him circa chapter 177, I want to see him grow to be a more understanding hero that cares for people more and gains more popularity.
love your videos! ive been sharing them with ppl that are more or less up to date with the manga, since most of the stuff about hero aca on youtube is mainly about the anime, so its awesome to have someone cover stuff thats later on in the story~ :D
so, i dunno if here is the best place to ask about it, but have you heard about the threats horikoshi's gotten about the recent chapters? im guessing the majority of them are not liking how the story is about Endeavour and hows hes changing. (for better or worse, i dont wanna spoil things here for ppl who arent reading the manga) id like to know your thoughts about the current kerfuffle. keep up the great work on the videos~ :D
I think there is more to his backstory then we are seeing, it almost feels like he was a Soldier and he might have PTSD, he almost reminds me exactly of my dad (minus the flame powers).
well he is now
“Roughly 3 children” 😂😂
Much like the majority of the BnHA fan-base, I don't like Endeavor because of what he done to Shoto for the sake of his own goals. I would feel same way in Shoto's shoes if my father was like his, but that is just it? We can vaguely picture what Enji Todoroki a.k.a Endeavor has gone through to become the person we see him as today. This calls for like a flashback/prequel spin-off series on Endeavor or this topic will later come up in the main series when Endeavor meets his end during a fight with a villain he can't win and dies honorably?
Endeavor is my numbah 1
He WANTED to prove that he was better than All Might and saw it as a personal competition to reach number 1, but then to just be given number 1 because All Might retired, of course he didn't take that well
i do like that his goal hs changed to something that really matters
my friends keep asking me why i won't forgive/don't like endeavor yet but my father is so, SO similar to him that i just cant. he saw me as the perfect child and pushed me so hard to the point that i would even refuse to identify with his surname, using my middle name or my mother's maiden name instead. it took me such a long time to realize what i went through was not normal, how other kids weren't terrified of getting anything less than 100% in a test or not following their schedules even slightly. im still trying to get out of that toxic ass perfection mindset, my father seems to be trying too as he gets older (i won't ignore that lmfao im not an idiot), but its going to take a long time to fix all the shit he's done. but hey at least i can use his credit card with no limits and im inheriting majority of his stuff.
You earned your like after 3 seconds with the macadamia nut. gg
Endeavor is #1 in my heart ❤
Jokes in you, he is number 1 now
He was number one when All Might retired
Did you even watch the video?
He will always be my hero!
The man who would never be best boy.
I feel like endeavor will develop in a chapter where shoto might be in danger or near death of some kind to which endeavor will grow and develop as a character.
Lmao I like how u didn’t start this with the beauty of endeavor
