MHA is a pretty cool power system, but the biggest flaw is the randomization of the powers. You could be born with the power to warp space time or have a Lego block for a head, and that’s it 😂
I mean that’s literally how it works for mutants in marvel too lol. For every Wolverine there’s a hundred useless mutants who only have the power of being deformed and ugly. If the X-Men are saving the day you better start praying if they send “Beak” and “Soft Serve”
Heteromorphs/Mutants are actually born like that but its important to know that a unique characteristic of Mutant type Quirks is that they can pass on the appearance without the Quirk. Tokoyami's Quirk is Dark Shadow but he has a bird appearance because one of his parents had a Mutant Quirk with that appearance. The same thing with Anivoice. His mother had a Quirk that gave her that appearance but his Quirk is just controlling animals.
18:10 Bakugo's Explosion Quirk is actually 2 abilities: Ability 1: Bakugo can generate sparks in his hands, which is what he thought his quirk originally was. Ability 2: Bakugo sweats Nitroglycerin from his hands, which his Sparks causes to explode. All his Gauntlets do is store more of his sweat, and they also have a single use, large Ignition Switch which can also detonate said Nitroglycerin.
@@rioulethebeats9717 Kinda-sorta. His father's quirk is where the explosions come from, he primarily sweats acid though. Bakugo's mother Mitsuki though, there's a reason she's absolutely gorgeous: Her quirk makes her sweat Glycerin, so she literally sweats moisturizer.
He doesn't mix anything, he secrets Nitroglycerin, as stated in the series. It is also stated that he can cause it to ignite at will using his hands, which is shown when he was young as sparks. Now, it isn't stated those sparks cause said Ignition, but, it is heavily implied that they either cause it or are it, and that the Ignition is separate to the Nitroglycerin, which is why he can store it in his Gauntlets and grenades.
That's very scary how quirks just appear out of nowhere. I feel like every day you'd hear on the news how another child killed their parent or sibling. There's a new show on Prime called Gen V. The main character's powers showed up randomly and she accidentally killed her parents.
Marie's ability didn't randomly show up. In The Boys universe babies are given treatments of V and it becomes a part of them. Marie's ability just didn't show up until she was a teenager for some reason unlike other supes who's V abilities show up as kids. Since V alters the DNA of the baby when it's being applied during the period when epigenetics applies (supposedly), it alters their DNA and they can pass down abilities. If an adult takes V, it doesn't do any permanent changes because they are out of that period, but it does give them abilities for a limited time, with withdrawal effects essentially since their body is not altered to use that ability (some baby supes also have this issue, see Emma in Gen V who's body cannot handle the stomach acid when she barfs, but to use her power she must barf).
@@crayhack I don’t think you understood what we’re trying to say. Even if V is given to them as babies it’s not as if you know the power the child will manifest. So it’s a scary situation where a dad is playing catch with his 3 year old son and all of sudden that child manifest super strength

"He can breathe underwater, he basically can do everything orcas can do". Meanwhile, orcas underwater: "alright jeff, time to resurface, I'm suffucating".
I'm surprised you didn't mention the insanity of Setsuna's quirk when talking about multiple quirk facotrs. She's able to split up her body into potentially hundreds of pieces, she's able to make those pieces fly, this doesn't kill her, and the pieces are still connected through space, like her mouth could be separated from her body and she can still eat, and talk just fine. On top of all that, if she loses any pieces, they can just regenerate. Home girl is practically immortal.
I love the genetic foundation for the power system. Like it's just pretty cool that Bakugo technically does have a quirk that allows him to do multiple things. He inherited the ability to sweat nitro glycerin from one parent and the ability to create sparks from another. Which now has manifested in him the ability to ignite his sweat as explosions. Which is also why he'll make comments about how it's harder to work up a sweat when it's colder out.
it'd be crazy if the first shiny baby's ACTUAL quirk was the quirk to spontaneously manifest quirks in people all around the world and that was the true origin of quirks that was then passed down to their offspring once manifested
I actually was just thinking that, when i heard the description. When the fact that kids started to show their quirks later in life just fter the First Quirk User just "Shone". It felt like too much of a coincidence. The first being with a mutation is usually the Trendstter and the base aspects usually follow the base aspect of the first mutation. So why suddenly people stopped manifesting the powers after birth?
I have a VERY surface level of genetics, but I’m gonna pretend I actually know stuff and theorize a little. DNA has segments called genes, sometimes those genes are expressed and make certain proteins, and sometimes they don’t. So maybe quirks are dormant mutations that were somehow enabled due to environmental circumstances. And maybe the reason quirks blend and mix is because they’re both dominant alleles and have incomplete dominance.
@@Rakkun_Streak marvel explains it with mutants and croplings, those who were born with visable mutations and powers were usually killed as a baby by their parents and as an evolutionary advantage their powers started to lie dormant for most of their life until activated by stress, darwin, apocalypse, and that duplication man are the only ones who had their mutation powers active since birth and survived to become adults
@@youtubestudiosucks978 That actually sounds dope! I think since people are more "peaceful" and "understanding" in the modern times of the show, there's a better chance of Heteromorphs to grow

Spoiler Alert!: Aoyama was not born with Naval Laser. He was born quirkless and his parents made a deal with AFO in order to get him a quirk. This was hinted at and heavily implied a long time ago in the manga, and then finally revealed at the start of the war arc.
Ty! Not the first time nick make a mistake, outside of naruto his knowledge is not much higher then the above avrage fan of the anime, the belt was not needed to use the navel lazer, its needed too control/stop the output
I think this guy dosent really read the manga he talks about. He made a theory about something I'm boruto that was already said that's not the case. And now this like wtf
Ochaku's quirk awakening is so broken she had to be knocked out after fighting Toga. She could just look at Shigaraki and anti-grav him into the sun otherwise.
But yeah, Ochaco's quirk was limited, but really useful for many situation, and then became a power that could defeat Shigaraki just by sending him to space
I like Koichi more than Deku. Partly it tickles that part of my brain watching his power develop over the course of the story compared to Deku adding fully developed powers from previous users
To be fair, I don't believe Koichi's power was technically developing over time. Wasn't it more that he always had the powers, but unconsciously suppressed them because his mother would mother would air slap him every time he used them? So he mentally associated using his powers with danger (and turns out his full power is actually very strong).
@@TheZajicekfarber by the end of the story he was using it by instinct. Regardless if it developed or if he always had it that doesn't change how it feels for the reader in effect
MHA is the kinda show that makes me think "what if instead of No More Mutants, Scarlet Witch in the comics said Only Mutants, and turned everyone into mutants?"
@@kingtroll2640 I know, I'm not talking about House of M. House of M was "No More Mutants." I'm saying what if instead of doing that, she made everyone mutants. Like all of humanity.
In Nine's case, I believe that the Cellular Decay he was suffering was from his Original Quirk "weather control" It was shown in the Undercover side chapter how Nine met Ujiko to get the surgery so he would be abe to find a quirk to safe him. As whenever Nine uses his Weather control quirk, the cell degeneration progresses.
I think that's because his quirk is so powerful. Shigaraki's base quirk destroyed his arm when he used it at full power the first time. And then again in the PLF war when he tried to use it after being too worn down/injured.
There's nothing wrong with Short Kings, they need love too!! But frfr I thought he was around 5’5"-5'7". I knew Nick was on the shorter side. I could tell by how big his head is. Comparing that with his facial features and how far apart they are in correlation to his head. Couple that with what we can see of his upper torso and shoulders. I hope that makes sense😅. I need sleep.
When it comes to the whole "some quirks have entirely separate uses from each other" part, we actually see this occur alot. Its just thet theres degrees of which one parents quirk compliments the other. Bakugo is a perfect example. His mom simply has nitroglycerin sweat with no way to activate it while his dad has the ability to form explosions on his palms. Bakugo technically has "two quirks" like shoto, its just that the combination is so perfect and seemless that people tend overlook it.
I'd say theres room for Horikoshi to roll that in with the Quirk Singularity theory and say Takoyami is one of the first Quirk'd that's being born with additional sentient appendages BECAUSE the generations are growing powerful so they need another being thats attached to them to pick up the slack.
In Yuga's case, he was Born Quirkless and the belt his parents gave him allows him to focus the beam and control the potency. The Draw back, since he was not born with resistance, is that if he keeps the beam active for more than 10 seconds, his insides can burst due to the heat.
I was hoping we could get an arc where All For One has a hit squad that he swaps out Quirks with like you'd spec a character in a video game. They could have been some neat villains for an arc that didn't make it to the final battle, maybe the primary villains of the Dark Deku "arc", if we can really call it an arc
The most misunderstood power system in anime is undoubtedly Cursed Energy from JJK. Even the author doesn't have consistent explanations for some mechanics.
What I love about the power system of MHA is that quirks have drawbacks. It's not just that "if i use my quirk too much i run out of energy, thier drawbacks are specific to the qurik itself.
Theory: so based on the fact that ONE For All is to be passed down to somebody quirkless to withstand and be able to unlock its full potential. If Deku HAD a kid would he be able to pass down all the quirks through genetics or at least some. Or being that he was “initially” quirkless would that trait still be passed down to his kids and their kids till they randomly manifest them.
Not to mention the base one for all quirk is passing quirks on. So would or could there be extra potential to pass on quirks genetically because of this ability.
To answer that question the answer is no it can not, the previous users were all people with quirks, and what it did was augment their quirks until all might who was quirkless. Not to mention nana shimura had a son and did not pass on ofa to her son. It is stated that the only way to pass on the quirk is to take in something from ofa whether it be hair or blood or other fluids and the only way that person can manifest the quirk is if they have the pervious users willful permission that’s why it is passed down it is also to protect the quirk from landing into the wrong hands. So no if deku were to have kids they would either have quirks from his spouse or have them passed down from his parents side and from his wife.
@@_Sleepyhollow_ you’re completely missing out key info and details. Nice try tho. Deku was the only one to really unlock ALL the potential and abilities of the other quirks. Deku would be the first to pass it on genetically because of the first quirk and Deku being the last. None of the other wielders would be able to. Deku if he had a kid would have the highest potential for multiple or many quirks. A. Because Deku was different than all other wielders B. Look at shoot and dabi. The firsts whole ability is stock piling and passing it on. Giving a high likely hood of Deku passing on multiple quirks if he had a kid
@@StarFoxLazer that’s simply because the quirk was stockpiled enough so that with him as the current and presumably the last wielder of afo he was able to benefit from able to unlock it. Essentially it seems that afo could have still been in infancy until it was fully grown when it got to deku, he would not be able to pass on the previous users quirks because they aren’t his own, if deku was to pass on ofa he would go back to being quirkless like all might. Who is a good example of passing the torch to his successor not to mention it is explicitly stated that it has to be passed down by consuming something from the previous user so he can’t simply pass on the quirk or multiple quirks because of that unless he has his child consume a string of hair like all might did to deku or something else. it was never stated that they had to be quirkless to unlock its full potential because if that was the case then all might would have done so since he was quirkless himself now I may have left some stuff out because I haven’t been able to keep up with the recent chapters but from what I’ve read that is what was stated you are clearly knowledgeable too so you should know that it isn’t possible to pass it on to his progeny the more likely outcome would be that his spouse would end up with afo due to him giving her his fluids to put it nicely and she would only receive it if he explicitly wants to pass it on to her, it’s why when deku realizes toga had his blood he had the conversation with all might about how people can’t arbitrarily steal the quirk from him. Now by all means would it be cool for his kids to display attributes of one or many abilities of afo sure but it is it truly possible? No it’s not, that said though a fun theory that’s all it is if what you say is true what makes him the only one to pass it on genetically because of the first quirk which was stockpiling and the second was to pass it on nowhere as far as I’ve read has it been stated that it can be passed on genetically again if that was possible nana shimura should have been able. As far as I know it can be shared but that’s about it, so no nice try but it isn’t possible as what was written and stated previously the only thing that can change this is if the author retcons afo to be able to be passed down to to his progeny because of how strong the quirk got so it underwent a mutation to be passed genetically.
I do respect what you think and though it could be plausible it isn’t so because nothing has soon or been stated to the contrary it is still more likely that they would get quirks from their mother or from his side of the family or even get quirks that don’t have to do with them at all until horikoshi has written it into the story it pretty much is nothing but speculation and guess work
As of right now, it was confirmed that the shiny baby was not the first one with a quirk or meta ability, instead it was the first one that used their meta ability, or more specifically the first officially document case. It was stated in the manga “but two weeks prior to his birth, in India… …50 babies were born with meta abilities.”
Quirk awakenings, and even just the way characters use very simple quirks and do something cool with it like Lemillion for example, both make me really enjoy watching quirks on screen.
In Twice's case, the bipolar and BPD were due to the trauma he suffered when his clones tried to kill each other as they believed they were the original. So the cause was less due to the quirk itself, and more the trauma of watching yourself murder yourself over and over again.
3:46 this leads me to believe that some type of natural selection happened. Either infants born displaying meta abilities would be killed or for whatever reason more powerful quirks emerged early on and those infants died earlier as a result of the powers or again people being scared of children with such massive powers
Aoyama's quirk is conveyed in manga as potentially exploding his own stomach if he is not careful, the belt only directs the energy. The anime softens this, instead he just gets tummy-aches.
When it comes to Nine though, he wanted the Cell Activation quirk to heal his cells on account that when he got the All For One copy it made the drawback from his original quirk worse Weather Manipulation is the reason he was degenerating
todorki does not have both his father and mothers capabilities, he cannot manipulate the flames and ice he produces which keeps him from producing manuvers like hell spider and jet propulsion, he can only manipulate the shape at which they are released, so his utility is limited and as a trade off he doesnt have to worry about over use. hes a thermostat, he just raises and lowers temp
Another aspect of quirks people forget and some think is a plot hole when intentional is that people born with quirks have super human bodies Examples: 1) Mirio (after his quirk was deleted) was able to break Overhaul’s arm when Deku couldn’t 2) Bakugo being very durable and having strong shoulders from his blasts 3) Shoto being able to withstand being punched by Deku in the sports festival Deku had a quirkless body and it took time for it to develop and adapt. Now it seems that he is overall more durable because he has gotten used to the lower levels of full cowling
I’m surprised no one ever mentions how Mina ashido is a hetromorphic type with a look that has nothing to do with her abilities. Also eraser head can stop some hetromorphic type quirks it literally shows ojiro(tail guy) as an example of how his quirk stops people from using his quirk when he explains his quirk at the beginning shie hissaikai arc
Well Mina’s look is mainly explained away from 2 different situations. One, is the fact that heteromorphic quirks are able to pass on their traits even if not expressing the quirk itself, hence her eyes and horns and two, Mina’s skin is pink because of the acid she naturally produces (lest she burn her skin and body off). As for Eraserhead, yeah that sounds about right. I’d point out it’s not that Eraserhead as hidden potential with heteromorph quirks or anything, just that he’s able to stop the ‘emitter’ functions of the quirk - meaning he could stop Ojiro’s tail from moving but not making the tail itself disappear. It questions how transformative quirks work in a way though, does it make the transformation disappear or does it just stop it from turning back into normal?
Well he has said he's watched naruto like 5 times over heck his channel nchammer is solely for naruto content. To say he loves naruto is an understatement
@@elywahl9520 1) Aoyama was born quirkless, he got his quirk from AFO, the belt is needed because his body doesnt have the natural resistance it would if he had been born with the quirk 2) Twice's quirk didnt give him PTSD, he was perfectly fine (mentally). He had a very bed life which made him make copies of himself to have someone to talk to and do stuff with. Later all his copies started fighting and killing each other to figure out who was the original (the boss). He survived in the end but didnt know if he was the original or a copy. This together with the fact that he saw himself killing himself 100s of times gave him PTSD. Had nothing to do with the actual quirk factor itself. 3) More quirks does put strain on the body, but doesnt (necessarily) mean less intelligence. Most nomu are fairly brainless, but the were made with corpses?? Being brain dead after the brain died makes sense. But ignoring that, high-end nomu show intelligence, strategy and traits of their previous personality. Further, Kurogiri (whom is also a nomu) shows high intelligence after being dead and having multiple quirks. Gigantomachia was stupid even before AFO gave him more quirks. So not to go on to say it affects intelligence. 4) Anivoice is an emitter type quirk base. Although he is a heteromorph, his quirk is emitter, another example is Tokoyami emitting dark shadow. They are heteromorphs in the sense they look different, but their quirks have nothing to do with that mutation and instead allows the them to generate, possibly control and/or alter their surroundings. ie) Erasure can erase their quirks, not their looks. The rest is solid (as far as I know)
Ayama wasnt born with the laser. He was given the laser by OFA. And since his body wasnt addapted to the power he needed the belt to use the power. Its literally writen in the manga
19:55 this is just cap? Aoyama was given his quirk He was born quirkless and given naval laser that he also struggled to control thats why he could empathise with deku
Thing is horikoshi is a big fan of star wars. So quirks being passed passed down through viruses is the most viable option as it mirrors the midochlorian .
It's a common misconception, but midichlorians just gather in individuals with strong connection to the force, they are merely an indicator that you are force sensitive, they don't affect a person's ability to interact with the force
Well its said that glowing baby its a first but acually its Mother of All for one, she had some sort of spike on her arm, and then AFO and OFA are the 2nd and 3rd Quirk users, after a while its the glowing baby, also AFO had hole in his hand when he was born indicating that he already have the stealing ability. i think there were much more people born with quirks before glowing baby but the quirks werent flashy or noticible like spike on arm, and stuff like that. And Aoyama was actually born Quirkless and got quirk from all for one
Now here's the real question-- If quirks are an evolutionary process, does that mean that useless quirks will eventually be eradicated via natural selection? Presuming that users of the most powerful quirks correlate with more popularity and offspring, will less useful quirks or heteromorph quirks with ugly body modifications eventually stop manifesting?
I believe it is mentioned that any mutations quirks (including heteromorph) are just born that way. I also personally believe that both the virus and evolution are correct and that the virus adapted forcing human evolution bit providing quirks
I assumed he was gearing this towards anime-onlys and thus didn't want to get into that Edit: Wait he just discussed something that recently happened in the manga so I guess not 😂
Ive said it before, and I'll say it again. Vigilante is better than my hero. Its like the perfected version. Highly recommend you read it. Its one of my favorite Mangas.
Sometimes I wonder if the high percentage of quirk users was actually natural (around 80% in the manga). We know that All For One gave many of his followers quirks to ensure their loyalty. Who's to say that those followers had offspring who genetically had parts of the implanted quirks in their very DNA. If that is the case, perhaps the sheer dominance of quirks was manufactured by All For One decades before the MHA story as we know it started. How many characters that we know and love actually owe their powers to the man-made interference of All For One at least one century before Izuku was even born. Is the chances of being born with a quirk as common and natural as it seems?
To the people who made oc or thought of quirk power what did you make andnhoq did it work? Exmp i made chimera man. Can morph parts of his party into other animalistic hypryd with his own body. Like he can have legs of a kangaroo for jumping the arms of a bear, and a head of a ram. Now these forms are made proportionally to the base humam form. So while he miight get bigger or smaller do to different animals he not going to get huge or tiny. Another draw back his he need to get use to the forms he takes. Walling with kangaroo legga will be different to walking with bitd legs. Or bear hands are different to bird wings. Dealing with how the limb functions,it new size, wieght and form. Also injuries can slow or hult him from transformation.
Aoyama’s navel laser was a quirk given to him my AFO. That’s why he resonated with Midoriya. He was born quirkless too. His parents made a deal with AFO
@@netonnaanigbogu8304 ik I heard about that yet Horokoshi didn't expand on this like idk , "Humans are being okay getting bossed around by smart rat with superpowers" , like how did nedzu even have a school , how on earth did everybody react to literally rat talking
@@netonnaanigbogu8304 nedzu is another plot whole I can think off in MHA because he may or may not just caused a lot of deaths Cause his Quirk makes him super intelligent and based on what *He* stated , He knew Shigiraki was going to be a problem from the start so he "started bulding UA fortress from day 1 of the school" So this MF knew all along that sht is going down , you know what does that mean ? Aoyama could have been cough in Blink of an eye , you tell me that the rat tahy predicted Shigiraki being a real threat couldn't predict that the UA traitor might be a student ? , Bullsht
Correction aoyama wasnt born with the quirk he was quirkless like deku and his parents didnt want him to get bullied for having no quirk hence why his parents made a deal with AFO to give aoyama a quirk but since his body isnt naturally supposed to have a quirk it doesnt have a proper way to support the quirk genes and the quirk, also nezu was experimented on by humans also you forgot lady nagant got a 2nd quirk as well without experimentation and accumulation is a sub category
Technically you can develop a quirk as the latest it can show up is at 4year old, and when it manifests it can completely alter the body in some cases to suit it. Also quirks aren’t completely unique, there are people that just get the same quirk as their parents, Jirou got the same quirk as her mom (earphone Jack) and tsuyu’s whole family as the same ‘frog’mutation quirk.
Did you watch the video? He both tells us that you can be a late bloomer at 5 or 6 which is clearly true (cause otherwise Deku's excuse for getting a quirk late would be extremely stupid.) and talks about getting quirks from your parents. He mentions the Todoroki's and ingenium when it comes to genetics.
@@JDWalker495He also explained that people can have the same quirks. But he is right in that every quirk (although possibly almost the exact same) is technically unique, even from parent to child.
@@JDWalker495He was also right about being born with quirks and not being able to develop them. Your quirk may 'develop' at like four, but you were still born with it, it's in your dna. It just manifested at whatever age.
so my theory on the quirkless situation is that it may be possible to have 2 joints and still have a quick but that the use of this quirk is SO HIGHLY specific that you wouldnt find out about its use/existince since its something that wouldnt normaly /or only very very rarely come up in your life to beginn with, example the power to pass down your quirk, how would anyone ever find out about such a quirk its basicly something you wouldnt really discover without the use of another quirk, second example the ability to not be affected by sunlight to a certain degree, you just wouldnt get sunburn if you dont strain this quirk too much by idk being 24 hours in contact with light which haha isnt possible so you wouldnt find out and it wouldnt really have any life changing effect on you to generally find out combo that with a person who wouldnt go out much anyway and boom the illusion of quirklessness is complete. The niche and rare useablity appears as quirklessness cause the way you can use a quirk is so limited or non detectable that it may very well not be present so the number of actully quirklessness might be lower or entirely not the case, since we follow the series with the generall knowledge of deku or other pov´s the chance that the generall opion on that topic doesnt have to match the universes actully factuall state. which inturn means once the first metaability quirk was discovered 100% of the population got quirks over time it just so happens that 20% just got the worst kind of combination that they wouldnt be aware of it, i would love to hear you thoughts on this little theory of mine
Know what you mean about Bakugo. I have to correct you because a former anime TH-camr wasted a whole video about how his quirk should kill him. His quirk is his sweat is a nitroglycerin like substance. It’s not actually nitroglycerin. If you know anything about chemistry something being like another. Is the difference of fatal to safe or vice versa.
My head canon for Black Shadow is that Tokoyami's quirk forcefully causes Dissociative Personality Disorder but, since there's a second body right there to inhabit, the second personality never gets to even know it can manifest in the main body.
That's an interesting headcanon, i myself think that tokoyami and dark shadow are actually twins but "merged" in their moms stomach or that dark shadow "died" and stuck to tokoyami, kinda like "beyond to souls" did
My biggest problem with quirks is that they started off at least pseudo scientific but then they dissolved i to straight up magic. Shiggy can take one for all because he hates everything, every quirk has a ghost, and almost every quirk can evolve now just because
And quirk ghosts can talk between each other. All Might's Ghost inside Deku can react to the real All Might's emotional state. AFO's ghost can talk to Shigaraki and the real AFO. It's utter nonsense, and then the manga comes around and hit you with pseudo-science like Shigaraki's mutation and quirk singularity. Like either be magic or be sci-fi, but not both.
The Weeb Commander - think about the retroviruses. they can implant DNA in your genome and well, we have a lot of DNA that passed down this way. So I would argue that Retroviruses are a better cause for the development of quirks. For evolution theory, you would need an outside factor, that would "push" toward that mutation and it wasn't stated that there was one
20:23 He's not afraid of Dark though. I mean, his entire room in the UA dorms is themed to the Darkness, yes, he was afraid of the dark when he was young because of Dark Shadow, but was able to overcome his fear, and even help a little girl that had the same issue with her quirk (since her quirk was related to the darkness) in the school brief spin off
Bakugo like todoroki has both parents quirks his dad naturally sweats explosive sweat that activates with friction but cant forcibly enit sweat so its not very powerful but his mom's quirk let's her emit glycerin at will combined to make bakugos nitroglycerin emition quirk that we see
When you said that some quirks have one ability and others have multiple. The example you gave with multiple abilities is like turning into an orca and frog. That’s not multiple abilities within a quirk imo, they just have one ability being that animal. The traits of that animal is just comes with it, I wouldn’t consider that a multiple ability quirk. Your one ability is to be an orca, bunny, frog, etc and the traits that come with that animal
I love the Quirk system of MHA, and it’s become a hobby of mine to create Quirks based off of random ideas like the ability to create a map of whatever you can think of, or a quirk that can turn you into a murder of crows, etc. Most of all, I love the biological aspect of Quirks and how they are inherently based within the genetics of the user, and thusly brings about limitations and points that can be strengthened to make them even stronger.
The thing about quirks is there really is very little rhyme or reason to them. Every one is different, except for the ones that are same, unless they break the ill defined rules. They just work however they need to for that individual character in that story.
Why do people think Bakugo quirk his to only do explosions on his hands? Like his quirk come the sweat that has nitroglycerin properties making it explosive in other words bakugo whole body can be use for explosions.
A couple of minor mistakes, 1. People that one for all give quirks to aren’t forced to follow him, he only gave that specific quirk to people he believed would betray him. 2. Twice quirk didn’t give him MPD, a traumatic event caused by misusing his quirk caused it.
So, question with Eri's quirk. Couldn't she just...rewind her horn to be longer? Like, she can rewind a rewound quirk back into existence, I don't see why she couldn't.
Her quirk is a stockpile type quirk similar to deku or fatgum quirk, it was revealed by monoma during ss5 so she have to Stockpile energy to use her quirk to rewind
@madchatter4032 But she's already been seen rewinding things that no longer exist back into existence. You know, Lemillion's Quirk. The "energy" or whatever we want to call it that Eri's horn stores is a biological "something", and when she uses, say, 5% of the reserve of that energy, that 5% is gone. But it stands to reason that she'd be able to use, say, 2% of her energy reserve to regain 5%. I don't see why she couldn't. I'm not sure if I'm explaining this well. It makes sense in my head, not sure if I'm articulating it sensibly.
Does Deku actually have multiple quirks? Since the quirk factors of all the one for all users combined with the original quirk. So it’s a singular quirk as it continues passing on.
20:02 ok, but this actualy makes more sense, if quirks were related to mental health and disabilites it would explain alot, how the genetic and inheretence factors are! mental issues have alot of genes assosiated with them, so thus then quirks would too, and given most mental health issues are mostly genetic asside from some like ptsd for example we could imagine that could affect the genes related to quirks giving toga for example her nature and twice his personality thing ext, the quirks being altered explains alot. furthermore it also explains others too like how endevor and alot of fire quirked people seem to have anger issues or no chill while his son thats a middle child has a chill out from his anger unlike his father and dabi has the oppistie being full anger issues but has just as much chill based around the fire and ice quirks anger issues being related to fire would make alot of sense while being overly chill or natualy calm with ice or have no anger issues with ice quirks would also make sense. anger issues or lack there of is genetic and in the todorokis 4 kids we see a wide range of anger or lack there off even a extream mix like in dabi where when hes mad hes MAD but when hes calm he might as well be a fly on the wall.
MHA is a pretty cool power system, but the biggest flaw is the randomization of the powers.
You could be born with the power to warp space time or have a Lego block for a head, and that’s it 😂
Nah bro I'm going to afo if I get a lego brick head 😭
That'd why I like stuff like Nen cause anybody can train in it and you more or less get to choose your own ability, to an extent
Basically real life
You get lucky or not
I mean that’s literally how it works for mutants in marvel too lol. For every Wolverine there’s a hundred useless mutants who only have the power of being deformed and ugly.
If the X-Men are saving the day you better start praying if they send “Beak” and “Soft Serve”
That's a feature XD
Heteromorphs/Mutants are actually born like that but its important to know that a unique characteristic of Mutant type Quirks is that they can pass on the appearance without the Quirk. Tokoyami's Quirk is Dark Shadow but he has a bird appearance because one of his parents had a Mutant Quirk with that appearance. The same thing with Anivoice. His mother had a Quirk that gave her that appearance but his Quirk is just controlling animals.
18:10 Bakugo's Explosion Quirk is actually 2 abilities:
Ability 1: Bakugo can generate sparks in his hands, which is what he thought his quirk originally was.
Ability 2: Bakugo sweats Nitroglycerin from his hands, which his Sparks causes to explode. All his Gauntlets do is store more of his sweat, and they also have a single use, large Ignition Switch which can also detonate said Nitroglycerin.
Id also like to add that this makes since . seeing as his father and mother had those two different quirks
Amd the sex between his patents was explosive
@@rioulethebeats9717 Kinda-sorta.
His father's quirk is where the explosions come from, he primarily sweats acid though.
Bakugo's mother Mitsuki though, there's a reason she's absolutely gorgeous: Her quirk makes her sweat Glycerin, so she literally sweats moisturizer.
nah bakugo is just making the acid and nitroglycerin mix together causing the ignition, he cannot "create" sparks
Yes, what happened to Shigaraki and Eri, that's terrifying ro think of
Marie's ability didn't randomly show up.

If its superpower system I like genetic but if its about magic system then I want fully nongenetic.
it'd be crazy if the first shiny baby's ACTUAL quirk was the quirk to spontaneously manifest quirks in people all around the world and that was the true origin of quirks that was then passed down to their offspring once manifested
See this is what I'm thinking. What if people had mutations that was benign and the baby had the ability to activate the mutations.

I'd highly suggest reading MHA: Vigilantes to see an example of quirks developing due to fighting experience, but also for Knuckle Duster

I always assumed that Dark Shadow is not a quirk, per se, but it's Takoyami's conjoined twin.
That's kinda what I've always thought
So it's like a chimera twin?
Yeah, it makes sense
He's done a video explaining it. It helped. I'm gonna watch it again before I start s2 of jjk
The JJK power system really is a mess. The HxH power system is a convoluted mess as well.
New hot take: All for One = Planned Parenting, do with this information what you will 😅😂
What I love about the power system of MHA is that quirks have drawbacks.
Its really poetic that the people with no powers were the first to do somthing about super villians shits too real lol
Another aspect of quirks people forget and some think is a plot hole when intentional is that people born with quirks have super human bodies
Examples:
1) Mirio (after his quirk was deleted) was able to break Overhaul’s arm when Deku couldn’t
2) Bakugo being very durable and having strong shoulders from his blasts
3) Shoto being able to withstand being punched by Deku in the sports festival
Deku had a quirkless body and it took time for it to develop and adapt. Now it seems that he is overall more durable because he has gotten used to the lower levels of full cowling
You actually aren't allowed to use your quirk to harm in self defence, you are only allowed to use your quirk to harm if you have a hero licence.
You’re telling me, Nezu, named literally Mouse in Japanese and looks like a mouse, is a dog/cat/bear but NOT A MOUSE ANYWHERE IN THERE?
With Naruto nick is almost always on point facts wise. When it comes to any other anime there’s usually 2-5 mistakes made with the facts

@@elywahl9520
1) Aoyama was born quirkless, he got his quirk from AFO, the belt is needed because his body doesnt have the natural resistance it would if he had been born with the quirk
2) Twice's quirk didnt give him PTSD, he was perfectly fine (mentally).
The rest is solid (as far as I know)
It's not mathematically possible for every quirk to be 100% unique. I lost count of how many times I've had this argument in rp servers.
I Am Glad Someone Has The Time, Resources And Dedication To Do Something I Have Given Much Thought Into
Only law there should be about how to use your quirk is 'don't hurt people that aren't trying to hurt you'

19:55 this is just cap? Aoyama was given his quirk
He was born quirkless and given naval laser that he also struggled to control thats why he could empathise with deku
12:55 That caught me off guard. Never saw Deku yoke somebody up like that before lol.
I believe it is mentioned that any mutations quirks (including heteromorph) are just born that way. I also personally believe that both the virus and evolution are correct and that the virus adapted forcing human evolution bit providing quirks

And this seems realistic except I think people would say instead of whenever and however, but use it following the law
That one dude in deku's class that only have a tail is a meme for real .
All might appeared in one of the dead pool comics which is why quirks are quiet similar to mutants
I’m surprised about how you did not mention quarks are tied to the soul.
It's a possibility that the Rhode Island tie in could be a reference to the MMO City of Heroes game. It took place in Rhode Island.

@@QueenViolet5I was referring to the earlier part in the video where he said as much 2:19 and 2:35
@@JDWalker495He also explained that people can have the same quirks.
Keep up the awesome work and videos Nick love the video
so my theory on the quirkless situation is that it may be possible to have 2 joints and still have a quick but that the use of this quirk is SO HIGHLY specific that you wouldnt find out about its use/existince since its something that wouldnt normaly /or only very very rarely come up in your life to beginn with, example the power to pass down your quirk, how would anyone ever find out about such a quirk its basicly something you wouldnt really discover without the use of another quirk, second example the ability to not be affected by sunlight to a certain degree, you just wouldnt get sunburn if you dont strain this quirk too much by idk being 24 hours in contact with light which haha isnt possible so you wouldnt find out and it wouldnt really have any life changing effect on you to generally find out combo that with a person who wouldnt go out much anyway and boom the illusion of quirklessness is complete.
It is interesting idea. I think it has a place to be.
I always thought that nezu was a lab rat who developed a quirk from experimentation
I always think it’s cool that the pinkie toe thing is something that is possible in real life, I have only one joint in my pinkie toe as well.
My head canon for Black Shadow is that Tokoyami's quirk forcefully causes Dissociative Personality Disorder but, since there's a second body right there to inhabit, the second personality never gets to even know it can manifest in the main body.
That's an interesting headcanon, i myself think that tokoyami and dark shadow are actually twins but "merged" in their moms stomach or that dark shadow "died" and stuck to tokoyami, kinda like "beyond to souls" did
Imagine waking up one day and your quirk start talking to you that would be a freak out
The societal implications always fascinate me with MHA.
I always turn on TH-cam for background noise but when the commander comes on everything else becomes background noise
Wait is the Rhode Island thing a reference to City of Heroes?
The Weeb Commander - think about the retroviruses. they can implant DNA in your genome and well, we have a lot of DNA that passed down this way. So I would argue that Retroviruses are a better cause for the development of quirks. For evolution theory, you would need an outside factor, that would "push" toward that mutation and it wasn't stated that there was one
The biggest surprise to this video, Nick being 5'1😂
Invisibility
"Momm my arm is gone"
"Ok sweetheart put some gloves on"
The only new thing I learned today is Nick is 5'1'', Dude how do you reach the top shelf?
20:23 He's not afraid of Dark though. I mean, his entire room in the UA dorms is themed to the Darkness, yes, he was afraid of the dark when he was young because of Dark Shadow, but was able to overcome his fear, and even help a little girl that had the same issue with her quirk (since her quirk was related to the darkness) in the school brief spin off
Bakugo like todoroki has both parents quirks his dad naturally sweats explosive sweat that activates with friction but cant forcibly enit sweat so its not very powerful but his mom's quirk let's her emit glycerin at will combined to make bakugos nitroglycerin emition quirk that we see
Or you could be born with nothing like Aoyama, then have your crazy parents make a deal with the devil so they all could be "normal"..
31:04 honestly he reminds me of cookie magneeto his power is so specific yet somehow vague
“Oh ah…. Shiny baby”🤣
The thing about quirks is there really is very little rhyme or reason to them. Every one is different, except for the ones that are same, unless they break the ill defined rules. They just work however they need to for that individual character in that story.
If you had a quirk you’d look like Edward from Camp Lazlo
Why do people think Bakugo quirk his to only do explosions on his hands? Like his quirk come the sweat that has nitroglycerin properties making it explosive in other words bakugo whole body can be use for explosions.
It’s a good informative video on quirks and the MHA universe as a whole . A bit of a refresher for me but very well made video
A couple of minor mistakes, 1. People that one for all give quirks to aren’t forced to follow him, he only gave that specific quirk to people he believed would betray him. 2. Twice quirk didn’t give him MPD, a traumatic event caused by misusing his quirk caused it.
19:58 wasn’t born with naval laser, AFO gave him that bc he came from a prestigious family and didn’t develop a quirk
22:18 - Nezu's probably a mouse since Nezumi translates to mouse/rat
Dogs cuddling at the back 😂
My head canon is that Dark Shadow is an incomplete twin that Yami absorbed in the womb. I have an fan OC that works like this, too.
It makes sense in my head, not sure if I'm articulating it sensibly.
your question is like "can you recharge your powerbank with that exact powerbank itself?". Simply put, that is the way Eri's Rewind quirk works
I guess you could say the power system is pretty quirky...
