I just subscribe, 67 yr old lady who is tired of spending so much money to get my nails done. Your instructions are precise, timely, and soothing!! I just ordered all the products i need to achieve a great manicure!! Wish me luck!!✌🏾
I’ve thought about giving up doing my own nails so many times but I just can’t justify the price of getting them done so I keep trying. This is the most helpful tutorial I’ve ever seen!!! Thank you so much! Going to try again ☺️
Your channel is so informational! I got a dip kit for christmas and have found so much value in your content. You are very thorough and clear in your direction. Thank you so much for your time and dedication to what you do. ♡
Truly an exceptional video!! Loving the slower, real time video. This gives me a realistic appreciation and time estimation for how to properly apply, shape, & finish my nails as a dippin’ newbie. Your channel is a Godsend for learning to do dip nails! Thanks for your hard work!!
💓 thank you SO much for this lovely comment! I am really excited to see everyone enjoying the slower pace. I am going to try to do more “real time”, beginning to end videos 🥰
I love the fact that you use the dip top coat! I don't like when youtubers use gel instead of dip top coat because beginners usually have a dip powder kit with only the dip top coat and not gel (and I prefer the dip top coat anyway because I try to avoid the UV exposure). Thank you for this video.
I understand what you mean! I too try to limit my exposure to gel but in fears of a gel allergy. I do enjoy it every once in a while however, I try to not use it regularly. Plus, using gel on dip powder opens up a whole other can of worms on the top coat peeling 😅
OMG loved this...needed this!!! I took a step back from dip powder in the later half of 2023 and just used regular polish. After watching the video with this absolutely flawless technique you have reimagined dip nails for me, I think my next mani will be a dip mani! Thank you, Chelsea! Can't wait to your flawless technique on my next mani!
This is such a great tutorial! It’s my first time trying dip powder and I tried different tips online, but haven’t found the one with the smoothest finish. You made me realize it’s all in the liquid 🤯 I barely had to buff thanks to this method!
I have those same glass files. I absolutely love them. So much so that I bought a second set for my desk at work. I like these videos. Ive been doing dip powder for quite a while but seeing a slower tutorial is great to remind me of certain steps and why i need to slow down. Thank you!
Thank you for more helpful tips! I appreciate the real-time speed, it let's us know your human and truly put in the effort to get your nails looking flawless. Great Work! I definitely want to get my hands on the liquids you were using. I do own gel polishes, so I use a clear top coat gel to get that high shine I LOVE! I also LOVE a matte finish sometimes. The dip powder kit I have, I didn't try the top coat, I just used the gel top I have. I was worried it would look too dull and not shine enough, plus I am super impatient when it comes to dry time.
This is hands up the best application tutorial l have seen. Will be using this when I try my first application. Now going to look for your nail prep video. Thank you.
I’ve been dipping for 5 years and your tutorials are awesome. I do the apex, but do not leave a small space on my first dip. I will do your method my next mani as it seems to help to get clean edges. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your support and kind words! I can’t wait to hear how your next mani goes if you try it out 🫶🏻💓 I’m willing to try anything to not have to file for a long time 🫣🤣
Your instructions are very helpful and precise, I usually do gel dip powder method, but I’m actually loving the proper dip powder method. I was going to sign up for a nail technician course and they were going to teach me how to do a nail manicure only using nail files. I can see why, it’s much more informative to only use nail files before you learn how to do it with a nail drill.
Excellent video, Chels! I hope you and your family are having a wonderful New Year and I am sure wishing your precious self many blessings in 2024! Much love, ladybug!
OMG! They look SO GOOD! I am ready now, for sure! Hopefully my cheaper kit will do just as good, but ur video has been _the most_ informative, helpful, and easy to follow that I've seen! THANK YOU!🎉❤🎉
Love your videos, you have the best tips; do you have a video on how to remove gel polish on top of dip powder and also how to fill up dip powder please? Thank you so much 💅❤
Most exceptional video. I loved it. All instructions and guidance so perfect. I am not wondering about the use of clear powder before and after the color powder. I tried my first time yesterday. Wish had gotten to your video before. Loved the arch and buffing tips. I can never shape my nails right. Yours are so perfect. Thank you for sharing this.
I'm going to try and not leave a mini novel comment, but I have so much to say😂 1st, this was a fantastic video. I'm new to the DIY Dip powder at home world. I have spent hours searching through videos until I came across you and Marla's channel. Both of you are incredible at explaining in detail and providing interesting, quality videos that are packed with substance instead of what I found with to many other's channel where they're flailing their fingers around like they're at a rave and talking like the Kardashians 😅sorry if I offended anyone but I can't stand that fake, 'Yassss gurl' talk. I'm sincerely thankful for you and Marla's channels and all the hard work put into making these videos. Sorry for the long comment 😅 😬 This video, among others of yours, is simply gold
Hi Chelsea! I just did my first dip set a couple of weeks ago and thanks to you and Marla Kris it went so much better than expected! It has held up great so far. Im getting ready to do my next set and this video came out just in time. I love the community you have 😊
I love you application technique, it gives a natural shape to the finish without much filing. I ha e used other techniques and I end up filing so much to actually get a good shape it takes most of the product off. What a waste of product plus very frustrating. I will most definitely use this technique in the future. Thank you for sharing 🙏🥰
I love your tutorials Chelsea! I don't use peel base so I would really benefit from a removal wit file only. I tried the acetone method and hate it. Also I use builder gel under dip and would love more videos on application. I appreciate you!
Thank you! This was a straight forward pleasant tutorial. Hard to make. You have such talent! Doing my dip nails in a moment but wanted to see if I could find a tutorial that would give me any tips I hadn't seen or figured out. The middle first! Genius! And thank you for the file trick! So smart. I will also be paying more attention to my cuticle area. I hadn't thought about cleaning it up before curing. So I end up having a nail or two on each hand that is further away from the cuticle and its noticeable for me because it's not even. Lol I'm working on that. Anyways thank you for sharing this. Off to do my nails🙏💛
Thank you for your kind words and feedback! I am so happy to hear it was helpful 🙌🏼💓 I totally understand what you mean on seeing the imperfections 🫣 I am certainly my own worst critic! I hope you love your next dip mani 🫶🏻
So excited to see you doing a mani with square nails. That's the shape I prefer, but my nails sometimes chip and/or crack on the sides. Appreciate the detailed tutorial! 😁
When looking for a buffing block is there a specific grit I should be looking for? Does it have to be spongy or would a high grit file work also? Thank you for all your expertise, I love your videos
😆💓 thank you so much!! Maybe your hubs can do your next mani 😜 mine tried and actually did great lol!! And yes, you can totally mix and match different brands of powders + different brands of liquids. You can also use one brand of dip powder liquid base with another brand of dip powder liquid top coat 💓
I love that you promote that not needing an e-file is NOT a necessity for dip nails. I watch so many videos and get discouraged because I don’t think I would ever be able to do my non-dominant hand with an e-file. Would you be able to do a video in doing a fill in with dip powder?
I totally understand and have the same fears!! I recognize that I am not a pro and feel certain things should be left to them 😆 I’ve seen sooo many scary stories on user error with efiles and plus they’re very expensive! I can definitely add a fill to my list to film. It’s been a few years since my last fill video. Thank you for the suggestion 💓
Thank you for this video! I really think I can do this. After 20 years at the salon I haven’t been back since the last time I spent $100 and my cuticles were all cut up! 😢
Hi, your videos have taught me so much. I tried doing the manicure as you show. With the strip down the middle first. What ends up happening is on the side on the nails you can see through the color. It’s sheer while the center is solid. Do you have any suggestions on how to help that? Thank you
Your production efforts are fantastic. Could you please explain why you would use Dip on natural nails instead of gel? I feel like I could get the same results in half the time, with much less time spent filing too, using gel. The moment you said, "Let it dry..." my ADHD started reaching for a UV lamp.
new subscriber here!! do you find that the activator has a strong smell?? is it dangerous to breath in?? 😅 also noticed you're not avoiding getting the activator on your skin, is that safe?? i just bought my first kit & have never done dip nails on myself before so i'm very very curious! :) i've done gel & am always careful not to get product on my skin, so i'm wondering if it's different for dip?? thanks, beautiful results on your nails!!
That one is from Marullo nail co ! She gave me a discount code to share as well. Not commissioned, just savings for y’all (code SIPNDIP10 saves 10%) - marullonailco.com/products/cuticle-precision-tool?_pos=1&_psq=preci&_ss=e&_v=1.0 I’ve also seen these ones on Amazon - amzlink.to/az0XiXdFyZiPk
Hi Chelsea, I was wondering when you are putting on your dip top coat are you wiping off your brush on a clean lint free paper towel after each nail before inserting the brush back into the bottle so that your top coat isn’t contaminated from the activator? I’ve seen others do it but never you so just wanted to know your thoughts about that! Thank you!
I'm asking this as I do my nails lmao so it probably wont help me in time, but I'm watching ur video pausing it the whole time bc like I already commented, its hands down _the best,_ but, is there any reason you dont buff your nails after the initial shaping, before applying any of the dip coat products? I keep seeing others say to "buff and remove any shine to make the products adhere to the natural nail better." And then some also recommend putting acetone on to remove any natural nail oils. I wanted to ask you though bc I can see you didnt do those things, and I didnt kno if it was because you have like top tier, super high quality products, or bc you dont find it necessary? Because you're CLEARLY a professional at this, and I'd take your advice over most others. 💙💎💅
Hello! I was wondering if it would be possible to do a gel design on top of dip?? If so what’s the best way to go about it! I’ve been doing gel since forever but want to try out dip while still using up what gel I have :)
You absolutely can!! Gel needs a rough surface to adhere to. So rather than buffing it too smooth, try a 180 grit file on the dip powder. You can also do a gel base on top, then color/designs. Here’s a video that I made showing it too 🩷 th-cam.com/video/YDbw60FN8_k/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZiUa3Fh76P5Gs1du
Sorry if you have answered this before. How do you brighten up a top coat after a week? I am hard on my nails and they seem dull after a week and if I add another layer of topcoat it will wrinkle. Should I ruff up the surface first the activator? It takes me so long to do my nails, 3 hours sometimes, ugh, that I only redo them 2+ weeks. Thanks.
Hi there! You can totally give it a refresher 🩷 just as you said, I would file down the top coat and dust it off. Then apply activator and wait 2 min. Then wipe with a dry lint free wipe/napkin and apply 2 layers of top coat 🫶🏻
I apply it to my entire nail. I really like Virgo and gems! I’ve been using it for a few years and haven’t had any issues. Very gentle! amzlink.to/az0Y6nBWuuzEc
That can be super frustrating!! ❤️🩹 it can be a few things - Too much liquid on the brush + nail. Then when you dip into the jar, it causes the powder to become ridged + bumpy To combat this, I would suggest removing the excess liquid on the brush AND pouring the powder over rather than dipping in. Pouring over can help create a smoother + thinner appearance. I also have a video on this exact topic if you’re a visual person like myself 🥰 th-cam.com/video/C7lgPwn5NMI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=qQFznqYkH_gXd03V
Is there a video that explains what to do if you do over file after applying Activator? Also have you experienced discoloration when going in a chlorinated pool? Solution? Nails turned yellowy 24 hrs after doing them. I didn’t use clear powder as last dip. So disappointing. Thank you for guidance.
By the way, this is the first time I've ever done my own dip powder nails - it is extremely easy to use. I followed your instructions and my nails look great... Especially for the first time! Such a shame the activator made me so sick!!! I definitely need to find an activaror that doesn't smell so strong.... I even had opened a window and turned the fan on but it didn't help.
The Azure activator has such a strong odor that I couldn't breathe. It also made me so dizzy and sick to my stomach I vomited a couple of times, then had to lay down - flat on my back for hours. Any recommendations on an activaror that doesn't cause this to happen? Please advise. Thank you!
That can be really frustrating after you spent all that time doing them 😮💨💓 it can be a few things - 1. Thin dip powder liquid consistency. Some liquids are thinner than others. For example, Kiara sky and these azure ones are thinner. But Revel and OPI are thicker in my opinion. 2. Not enough dip powder layers. So, depending on our nail length, shape + lifestyles we may need more strength 💪🏼 3. Not enough activator. If you have lots of layers of product and not enough activator, it can cause the powder + liquid to not properly harden. I do have a video I just uploaded the other day on this topic if you’re more of a visual learner 🥰 th-cam.com/video/HwHtgsTJ1kE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-vk0Atsj5d6XBtP1

I’ll have to give diy dips another chance. I ordered a kit and the final result was hideous! So bumpy, clumpy, and uneven. No idea what I did wrong but perhaps it was not using a swipe of alcohol during the prep stage. Anyways thank you for a clear and concise tutorial.
No need to wear the ring, 😅 is better if is off. When I make my videos I take off my three ct ring off. Not sure why is just it bugs me having it on😮 even when I go to do my nails professionally instead of at home. Either way
Do you feel wearing the dip nails mess with your nails, like make them weak, make them tear easy? I want to start wearing them but afraid they will make my nails weak
Thankfully no BUT improper prep and/or removal can! So over filing the natural nail or prying off the dip powder can certainly weaken the natural nail 🩷
WAIT????!!! HELP?? Did you MISS a REALLY important FIRST STEP or did I MISS HEARING YOU say it when talking about having a perfect APEX??? I Thought….thought….or was told…or saw it or my nail tech showed me…oh heck….I don’t remember as I hide my own Easter eggs as it is!!! BUT….When you do the “first stripe down the middle” are we supposed to finish the nail entirely with that initial coat of clear base and THEN, turn our nail OVER so the apex can actually FORM?? I was told that a properly shaped APEX is soooo important…..(unless I missed that and u DID say it or else you did not because it is NOT as important as I was told OR maybe it is not important with a Dip?? 🤷🏼♀️ I am so confused but NOT because of you but because of information overload as well as confusing different techniques for different nail polish finishes I am GUESSING??? If you DID go over this and I missed it, I do I apologize as you were going SO fast (not for normal people but for ME lol so I have to LOVE that there is that really cool thing called a PAUSE button LOL……. but PLEASE DO correct me if I am wrong about that Apex being formed by that CENTER “stripe” of base coat by turning over the nail so it can “form” by having the product ‘collect’ in the CENTER or Apex area? Maybe this is NOT a big deal for DIP and that is why I am feeling like I missed something? I am SOOOO bad at trying to explain what I mean so I hope I am making sense to YOU so you can tell me if I am completely off my rocker as I have been doing this technique since completing treatment as my nails are a horrific mess with ridges running horizontally AND vertically if you can imagine……plus they are thin. My nail tech showed me how to do it a long time ago, as I was not having my nails done for the entire time I was in treatment as it was a waste of $$ because the Doc’s want to see the capillary refill and they really loathe gel nails LOL. (Acetone USED to solve the problem for nail polish but….the times they are a changin!!) So I guess all in all is the APEX curve and having it BE that perfect curve, as important as when we do regular gel nails vs dip? I swear I have learned MORE from THIS VID AND YOU than I have in the past 10 years of learning to do my own nails!! (Being ambidextrous is a blessing BTW when it comes to doing your own nails! ONE of many great congenital DNA “Gifts” from my Daddy’s side. He taught me to write with both hands from when I was small and it has REALLY paid off as an adult! I look forward to your response and feel free to tell me I am completely off my rocker about the Apex and my OCD about it LOL!! I have had quite the collection of Dips and I just gave up on them as they didn’t “like” me or so I THOUGHT but after watching YOU, it is clear that I had NO IDEA what I was doing but it certainly wasn’t CORRECT if being CORRECT is how you are showing us now!!! When I say I was way off base (pun intended LOL!) in thinking i knew how…I mean WAY OFF and completely INCORRECT so THANK YOU as I WILL be “playing” with them tomorrow!!! OH….the Dust collector by Melody Susie….It is AWESOME and I HIGHLY recommend it as it really DOES work and having ANY of this dust in your lungs or when using a nail drill, this is a MUST….it is a good product and when you use it, you will never do your nails again without it. You WILL notice the lack of dust everywhere and no one likes to DUST so be proactive with house cleaning as well as your lung HEALTH!!!!! Love all the links and please remember that you have a TON of 🇨🇦so links to .ca on amazon is ALWAYS appreciated♥️🙏🏻♥️

do you find that the activator has a strong smell?? is it dangerous to breath in?? 😅 also noticed you're not avoiding getting the activator on your skin, is that safe?? i just bought my first kit & have never done dip nails on myself before so i'm very very curious! :) i've done gel & am always careful not to get product on my skin, so i'm wondering if it's different for dip?? thanks, beautiful results on your nails!!
Several months later, do you still recommend the Azure brand liquids? Thanks!
Love it !! Thank you !!
Where did you get that precision tool that you cleaned around the cuticle with?????
That one is from Marullo nail co ! She gave me a discount code to share as well. Not commissioned, just savings for y’all (code SIPNDIP10 saves 10%) - marullonailco.com/products/cuticle-precision-tool?_pos=1&_psq=preci&_ss=e&_v=1.0
I’ve also seen these ones on Amazon - amzlink.to/az0XiXdFyZiPk
Hi Chelsea, I was wondering when you are putting on your dip top coat are you wiping off your brush on a clean lint free paper towel after each nail before inserting the brush back into the bottle so that your top coat isn’t contaminated from the activator? I’ve seen others do it but never you so just wanted to know your thoughts about that! Thank you!
Yes! Great question! I do this with the base liquid brush + top coat brush 💓
Really helpful thank you x
So happy to hear this! 🩷
Yes slow is great
Thank you for the feedback! 🙌🏼💓
Do you ever buy the bigger refills bottle for the liquid??
No I haven’t but I love that the offer them! I usually just buy a new set 💓
@@SipAndDip wonderful!! Thank you so much for your advice :) I'll make sure to give the video a watch!
Would you mind listing all the items/brands that you used?
Great video.
Thank you so much ! 🫶🏻
Do you cover your entire nail or just a portion of it with peel base? Do you have a preferred peel base?
I apply it to my entire nail. I really like Virgo and gems! I’ve been using it for a few years and haven’t had any issues. Very gentle! amzlink.to/az0Y6nBWuuzEc
Thank you 😊
Can you make a tutorial about doing your right hands? I always find its quite challenging...
lovely!
Hi which brand top coat shine lasts longest in powder dip?
Do you use the clear powder for the Apex?
How to do it soooo smooth and not bumpy at all!! Mine are always sooo bumpy and thick!! I hate that!! 😩😩😩
That can be super frustrating!! ❤️🩹 it can be a few things -
Too much liquid on the brush + nail. Then when you dip into the jar, it causes the powder to become ridged + bumpy
To combat this, I would suggest removing the excess liquid on the brush AND pouring the powder over rather than dipping in. Pouring over can help create a smoother + thinner appearance.
I also have a video on this exact topic if you’re a visual person like myself 🥰

Thank you!
Please help! Why do my dip nails crack? I get hairline cracks after I do my nails. What am I doing wrong?
That can be really frustrating after you spent all that time doing them 😮💨💓 it can be a few things -
1. Thin dip powder liquid consistency. Some liquids are thinner than others. For example, Kiara sky and these azure ones are thinner. But Revel and OPI are thicker in my opinion.
2. Not enough dip powder layers. So, depending on our nail length, shape + lifestyles we may need more strength 💪🏼
Ok what is that tool you used to clean up around your nail?
It’s a precision tool! Here are 2 options if you want to check it out 🩷
☆ Precision tool (code SIPNDIP10 saves 10%) - marullonailco.com/products/cuticle-precision-tool?_pos=1&_psq=preci&_ss=e&_v=1.0
☆ Amazon precision tool - amzlink.to/az0XiXdFyZiPk
But this way will not cause the edges to be too thin, and comes off early?
Where did you buy that pick?
The precision tool is amazing! This one is from Marullo (code SIPNDIP10 saves 10%) marullonailco.com/products/cuticle-precision-tool?_pos=1&_sid=02949a1a3&_ss=r
And here’s an Amazon option too - amzlink.to/az0XiXdFyZiPk
Do you have tips on your nails??
I have tips on my nails. Does your technique work on nail tips?
Yes! Building up an apex on tips is a great way to blend down the ridge. Just make sure to blend (buff) the tip where it meets the natural nail 🩷
Just figured out it is Azure😊
Cambiaste el método!
I almost gave up until I came across this
😮💨🩷Don’t give up!! You got this!!

WAIT????!!!
I am so confused but NOT because of you but because of information overload as well as confusing different techniques for different nail polish finishes I am GUESSING???
