I don’t off-road my 2010 bug. But I drive around rural areas/potholes and dirt roads enough that the rattling split cracks in my aluminum gas tank. Just managed to get a new tank after lots of searching and highly considering this in order to hopefully prevent the same problem again
So, what's stopping you from leaving the stock struts in place and just adding a spacer on top? You'd get the lift without the stiffer springs, thus a more smooth ride. The rear can be the same, but with adding the shock stem extension. Heck of a lot cheaper since this can and never really be an offroad vehicle.
Great video! Love the look of the beefy Beetle! Any plans on doing any upgrades to the Momwagon? I think the Ford Flex is an awesome looking vehicle and you very rarely see any modded.
Not too much - it's nice to have one vehicle that hasn't been 'messed' with. Only mod is increased the size of sidewall on the tires, and went with some hybrid AT tires.
❤ it! I have the pink 2017, can’t find anything I live as much as my big, def not worth what they are charging today for a car. Think I could do this on a newer bug? Would it lift higher than a dune?
I have a 2009 S series Beetle. From the factory they are a very stable vehicle. Did incorporating the lift kit affect this stability, in the turns? If so, how much? I really love how these cars corner and handle at speed. Was this affected much? Please advise.
It was very valuable all the information you give us sadly you dont measure it before and after to know how much you won its to hard to find the kit in the coutry I live but I like to know if the parts I can find it matching other brands or fit on other cars like regular parts thanks in advance
Great video, very well made and easy to watch. This is exactly what I was looking for ! I’m having trouble with contacting them as I want to buy the same kit for my 2000 New Beetle . The link you have attached isn’t working , went on their website but was unable to send them an email as that link was broken as well. Do you know if they are still in business ?
I updated the link in the description and you can find it here as well geni.us/VWliftkitbug - I know there have been some supply chain issues - but I'm sure they're happy to help.
I loved the video edit of the race truck jumping while you described why you wanted to add lift to the beetle!!! Fun project!!! Question: do you know if you need to beef up your transmission to handle the larger tire/wheels??? Or did you need to recalibrate the speedometer?
Speedometer is definitely off. Not planning on reprogramming since it's not a daily driver. Not sure on the transmission, but I would have to believe it's going to stress it a bit more.
I enjoyed your video! It’s been a few months now. What’s your take on how it drives? I am considering this kit on my daughters 2001 beetle so it needs to drive well
It drives great. the only issues i have is still making room for these big tires in certain spots - if you go with a moderate tire size increase, it will drive amazing.
Ride quality is medium to fairly soft with the large tires. Suspension is stiff than stock, but not nearly as stiff as many who choose to use SUV Shocks and springs.
Too funny! Just ordered the Stage 3 kit for my 2010! Question… I noticed the front sits lower than the rear… do you know why? Or how to make it level? Thx!
I was told that it's visually lower... but the lift is equal. This is true in all their promo photos too. I'm not sure why. I agree that I'd like to see it fully level.
@@DadWagon just installed it yesterday and today installed the tires. Uploading video tonight… but yes it’s higher in the back too…. Wonder if the rear shock spacers at the top is what is making it look that much higher…. Wonder what happens if removed…
@@DadWagon I got a reply from them! They said the kit is designed that way in front so there’s no issues with the axle at a different angle and that the 2.5 engine is a bit heavier so it weighs it down a bit… and in the rear is higher to allow more cargo load, so it won’t sag I guess
215/75/R15 - rears have no rubbing. Fronts i had to remove a bit of liner and hammer some of the metal on the driver side. I plan to get some wheels with more offset - or back spacing and this shouldn't be an issue.
@@DadWagon ok awesome I appreciate your response. I figured getting new rims with 0+- offset were the best option. Since I already got the tires I'm kind of stuck with them.
I might grab my neighbors 2006 beetle due to needing a vehicle but haven't been able to come to terms with it being a beetle. Now that I've seen it lifted I kindof like the look haha Have you been driving it around? Any draw backs as a daily driver?
No not really, but haven't put a ton of miles on it. There was some fender trimming I had to take care of, but that could be minimized with slightly smaller rubber.
Wow....this was refreshing and EXTREMELY well-done without the f(L)aggot soy-boy crap in so many of the other videos!!!!!! I really appreciate the "to-the-point" info and your delivery. I own three of these beetles so this was helpful. Do you think raising these bodies contributes to shorter CV joint life expectancy? THAT is a major concern of mine.
Come on....remove the windshield wipers to install a lift kit??? Way too complicated for a back yard mechanic. Besides, it looks way too high in the rear, losing that Beetle rake.

I love those cars. I owned a 1973 and 74 super bug way back in 1987 the old bugs would go almost anywhere. Nice and fun.
Thank you for the video. Very well made and used it as a guide to install my lift kit on a 2004 Jetta TDI.
Great to hear!
Thanks. very much like the step by step format. Perfect for helping first timers.

Sure, of course you could do that. My shocks needed replacing either way.
Well done, professional, video! I learned a few new things from it!
Great to hear!
Thank you!
That is super rad!
Thanks Jason!
Awesome video! Looks sweet. Might do that on our Miffy.
You should! Thank you
Great work man. Super video again.
Makes me want to buy a bug.
awww shucks... i know you're just saying that... no one wants a beetle :P
vw high life does have very good customer service.

How was the fitment with the stock axles? No need for longer ones?
No need for longer ones.
What's the ride like, over stock?
Good video but im sure we all would of liked to see how it looked with the original wheels and tires just to see what it looked liked😒
Really? It wasn't pretty.
Putting bigger tires on , does it affect the power of the engine? Did you do any changes or adjustments to the engine or transmission?

Holy smokes Steve! Thanks so much for the super thanks!
I have a beetle 2001 I want to lift it up Same as you did this one. Where is your shop so that I can bring in my beetle for lifting
I just saw a video on the low rider craze in California, lol.
Lol. Love it
Nice. Can we do air-ride lifts?

Needs rally mudflaps and a wrc style wing
I like these thoughts
@@DadWagon it would look really awesome then man
Nice job do you think this will work on a 2006 New Beetle Diesel ?
I’m not sure. Their website will tell ya.
Hey Dadwagon, what rear shocks are you using to achieve the lift? Also is the ride quality soft?
Ride quality is medium to fairly soft with the large tires. Suspension is stiff than stock, but not nearly as stiff as many who choose to use SUV Shocks and springs.
They're from the Bilstein HD line of shocks. Visit VWLIFTKITS for the proper shocks.
Do you have the torque specs for the bolts that you torqued down or does anyone know where I can find them?
Thanks!
Looks great, Love the gold wheels with the blue car. kinda looks like a rally spec wrx now. What car did you get the wheels off?
I believe it was a 94-97ish Camry. I don’t believe they were stock wheels. But truly don’t know for sure.
👍

Are the control arms heavy duty or normal ones ? I looked and i really couldn't tell . Of course i could be blind and stupid too .
