I love that the Beetles are so customizable . You can truly 'make it your own'. I guess growing up playing Slug Bug ( Punch Bug if you're on the east coast, I think?) just makes it one of those cars that you have to own at least once. I'd love to get my hands on a 2012+ R Line and just turn it into my own personal clown car to cruise around in. Not like, an actual clown car. But , you know. Throw LEDs all over that sumbitch, bag it, put a ridiculous whale tail on it, then put more speakers than it needs so I can blow my eardrums out while cruising. They're meant to be fun, so screw trying to impress everyone. They're a perfect way to express yourself without taking yourself too seriously. TLDR; I love me some Beetles.

I got my 2014 R-line last year and I can tell you they are a hoot to throw around. The suspension is soft af, but coilovers and sway bars completely changed that. Also, they are not slow at all, maybe more like a sleeper because people think they are slow. With the 2.0T and DSG they run low 6's 0-60 and with a tune they can produce 300hp. I wanted a GTI but they were too boring for me, the beetle that I have looks sweet and gets compliments all the time. The funny thing is its from all generations too, young, middle aged, and older people love it!

I'd argue that Cheap and Affordable are two different things, with cheap meaning that it has a low purchase price, while affordable means that it has a low maintenance cost/high reliability.
For example, a Used BMW is generally going to be cheap, but it will not be affordable.

I have a 2013 Beetle, 2.5 I5 with a manual. Bought it brand new, and now with a 147k miles on it, and lots of track time, rallycross, autocross and road courses, it's been amazing the whole way. The same people that would normally say it's a chick car are the first to break necks and give you props when you roll past slammed down on 18x9.5s. I get compliments almost every time I go out in it, very rarely any negative comments. Don't be afraid to own one. Be different than everyone else in the herd 👌
I have a 2013 Beetle and I enjoy every drive with it, whether its to work or just a weekend cruise. Its, good looking, excellent handling, and just a blast to drive. Plan on keeping it for a long while.

@@jordaneggerman4734 in History class and as and Enthusiast Car guy. I read that the Beetle was designed as the Common Car for Germany. Like A Civic from honda, a focus from ford. Was the "el carro para el pueblo" was affordable in all the ways for the Community in that time. And it was selected by Adolf himself between others designs.
My first car was a Red 2012 VW Beetle Turbo 2.0 6-speed manual, it was a great first car ,it was zippy with 200hp and had really great turning radius and was comfy for long trips as the clutch was not heavy or light and was perfect for commuting and it never left me stranded, unfortunately at 85,000 miles after 4 years of owning it, it began burning oil as well oil leaking from the valve cover area and whole bunch of other problems that totaled up to 6000USD in repairs and as much as I loved my buggy it was to expensive for me to fix and I ending up selling it to Carmax for like 6,500. I made so many memories in it, I carried like 8 people in it once 😂

Love both my beetles they’re amazing in their own ways, the 69’ is always turning heads around town and the 14’ will take me on all the long trips I want having the 6-speed TDI 👍

I'm an owner of a 2018 Turbo Beetle SE Fender Edition. This is my 34th car. I've had many performance cars and a few luxury cars and a lot of shit boxes. The newest Beetle is actually now one of my favorite cars to drive. I haven't done a lot of modifications to it yet. And unfortunately, I bought an auto. I was going to buy a 2018 Miata but the dealer didn't have manual Miata's. The Beetle was on the showroom floor and is Pearl Black. I couldn't resist. I always wanted a Turbo Beetle and was willing to put up with an automatic. I don't regret my decision! This car has potential! It's not going to be insanely fast if you mod it. But it sure is a lot of fun to drive and own. Out of many cars that I have owned I get more compliments about the Beetle then I have with the majority of the cars I've owned. And I have had a 71 LS5 454 Corvette and the Beetle for some reason gets the average person to smile.
Yes, I am a girl. But I don't normally go for girly cars. With a Black Turbo Beetle, there is a balance. And it's just fun to look at, enjoyable to drive, and has modding potential.

Currently own 2 classic beetles. A 67 standard beetle and a 73 Super beetle. I daily drove the 73 for a year. Drove the piss out of it. It had no interior, the speedo didn't work, and the turn signals didn't work at night. But I loved it. Driving to college one day, the bug died and lost power and wouldnt start again. A wire fell off the ignition coil and it started back up again. Actually drove smoother. She also got me about 30 miles to the gallon

@@ethixhiggins5059 I put belligerently bright LED headlights on and for whatever reason it messed with my turn signals whenever they were on. I later learned that there was a small wiring issue. But I didn't really bother me too much; hated being that dick that doesn't use turn signals but most people understood because it's an old car lol.
@@pyro14813 I think for the LED blinkers you need to replace the blinker relay. I got a 77 and it is the most reliable and easy to fix car ever.

I bought my sisters 02 Beetle from her and I love the little car, it always turns heads and people always ask me questions about it like I'm driving a Ferrari or something. I'm a big guy and at first I laughed at the thought of fitting myself in it but it is surprisingly big inside and very comfortable to drive.

As an owner of a beetle I have a running joke rule where you can't punch the owner of the beetle your punching for. Aka only I can punch someone else for my beetle but no one can get me for mine. Other beetles are fair game though! Haha.

I never was a car person, my 2012 Reef Blue Vw Beetle Turbo 2012 changed that. It's the best car I have ever drove, I just wish VW would bring them back again. Both door latches on mine failed and I need to get them fixed, but other than that, this is an amazing car.

I’ve owned 5 Beetle’s and am picking up my 6th and possibly last this coming weekend, got a new 19 in Habanero Orange. But I must dispute your claim about not being able to fit a couch in one, I fit an IKEA couch in my 2012 Beetle, put the back seats down, played a little game of Tetris and I made it fit! 🤣
I never gave the bugs much thought, as most of the ones I've seen personally were either clapped out rust buckets or ladybugs with eyelashes.
*HOWEVER*
I could totally see building something amazing from an old shell... personally, I'd go for a post-apocalyptic look, but polished and clean, probably a *coughcough* Honda drivetrain, and just have some goddamn fun with it!

Sound Driven Official My gf had a 2001 with the 1.8 turbo. After we got the trans rebuilt, the thing was surprising fun and I only ever thought it was a “girls car” before I drove it. Now, we have a 2014 with the 1.8t and I want to drive it more than my Xterra.

I have a 2015 1.8T and I definitely am looking for an APR tune at some point down the line. Since starting work at a VW dealer and driving around a few GTIs and GLIs, it makes me crave more power from my little Bug.

The stock gauge pod of the 2012+ beetle 2.0L turbo made all the Golf and GTI owners jealous!
I have a soft spot for Beetles especially the most recent one. It's a car that doesn't want to be taken too seriously while staying recognizable in people's eyes.

Even though I drive a BRZ I still respect the Beetle. Not only are they a classic car in their own right. With lots of history. But, a 2008 Beetle saved my older sister and her husband's life when they were side swiped by a semi truck going highway speeds one Halloween morning. Car spun out and got slammed into the nearby ditch. Passenger door torn off, engine bay destroyed. Yet only physical injuries, a broken ankle, and some bruises and scratches. They pretty much walked away from a crash that should have killed them. While my sister no longer drives a Beetle (insurance pay out helped her get a Ford Fiesta) it still amazes me how lucky they were.
Finally got my self a car! Now I’m looking at wheels from You guys but I need to save for some wheels 😁‼️‼️

I've been driving my '13 beetle turbo since '14 and only have had to replace the battery. No problems what so ever. Put GTI rims and coilovers.

Was given a 1998 with the manual transmission so I’ll subframe swap it for the 3.6 vr6 AWD setup then wide body it with a air-ride suspension tucking 20x9s in the front and 20x10s in the rear. Should be a fun project

I just got a 2008 vw beetle a couple of weeks ago although it’s not new I still love it, it’s been my dream car since I was little in most movies every teen girl had a beetle so that also made me want one. But I noticed how much maintenance it needs I had more work done on my car then my old one. I’m pretty sad they ended production. :( I have a hatch back rn but one day I want to get a convertible

You're forgetting one thing young man. The original Beatle had a manual clutch in 4-speed which no one knows how to drive today! Vehicles last longer and are more durable than are a manual transmission!
I drive a MKI new beetle. It's a fun little shit box with the APR stage 1 tune and an even bigger troll when people see the two tone leather seats and active rear spoiler

I had an 01 Beetle 5 speed and it was the most unreliable car I've ever seen. It blew alternators every 6 months and other ridiculous things. But if I could buy an RSI Beetle with the V6 I would friggin love it to death!! 👍
