  • We will walk you through how to replace your old doorbell by adding your blink doorbell to your system as well as hardwire the doorbell to the existing wiring from the old doorbells existing line. Also we installed the corner, or wedge, so we get a better view of the door. This will allow the blink system to work, but also will have your old door bell ring as well.

    Attaching the doorbell to the mount is a little difficult but once it locks into place it seems extremely sturdy. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxxHZwMa8CsRjYhf9s4W8w0Dwm47uytWOp I replaced my regular doorbell with this and hard wired it in, using my existing wires and mechanical chime. It works perfect so far and integrates perfectly with my blink camera system. It also works seamlessly with Alexa

    One thing all the tutorials online seem to miss out is the door bell still requires 2 AA batteries even when it's hard wired. The battery will need to be changed every 2 months depending on use, unless you use a module. Seems pointless hardwiring it imo. It becomes unresponsive when the batteries need changing

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  ปีที่แล้ว +15

      Yes, I was disappointed when I myself found out that the hardwire did not replace the need for batteries, but I do like that it still makes the old doorbell chime sound when rung. As for the battery life, at the time of this reply, I have not yet needed to change the batteries and the system is never turned off. And trust me, with all those ulta deliveries it gets a lot of use lol.

    Great video but my blink doorbell has only 2 parts. A plate to screw to the wall which you connect the 2 wires too and the front doorbell. Maybe blink have already changed the model type? I didn’t know which wire connected to which screw. Red or white wire. Left or right? Update - followed the steps on my phone and it's installed. The video quality from the doorbell is amazing! the sound too! Love it!

      The corner plate is an add on that you can get to help with the camera angle. If you don’t need it just mount the plate you have in the same matter. As for the wires the can be placed on either screw and it won’t mess up your install. Thanks for watching and your support!

    • @stevew4754
      @stevew4754 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi!. When Ring doorbells are installed the power to the bell is disconnected by bypassing the original house bell circuit when the two wires are joined. Then having installed the Ring system, the old house bell box doesn't ring. I wonder if you looked at this and joined the relevant wires as they were originally, maybe the old bell would work again. With the Ring system a separate chime box is said to be required.The two different designs are different. :-)

    I think the batteries operate the camera and the wires only operate the inside doorbell. I have another brand doorbell and you cannot use a electronic door bell with it because it only operates mechanical doorbells due to the wires power coming from a transformer and my doorbell always has a buzz to it because the wires ate suppling power to run the doorbell button outside.

    • @BusyBeeLiving

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  ปีที่แล้ว

      Only thing I can think of is either somehow your doorbell button may be stuck or the unit is faulty. First, check your existing setup to make sure that it falls in between 16-24 volts AC at 50 or 60HZ, 40VA max. I would take the doorbell of and pull the batteries to reset the unit. If this doesn't work I would contact the seller and see about getting a new unit.

    • @BusyBeeLiving

      Yes, the batteries are still required so that the doorbell system has enough power to run. The old doorbell wiring is only allowing the blink to chime the old system bell.

      @BusyBeeLiving  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The chime wiring must be 16-24 VAC, so you might want to check yours and see what it is. I left the batteries in mine, and have been told that the batteries are still required even with it wired. Hope this was helpful.

      Batteries are still required even when the doorbell is hardwired. Although, they say that using the module and hardwiring it helps with battery life, but the hardwiring is mainly for the existing chime to work.

      @@BusyBeeLiving I was wondering why it wasn't working when I took the batteries out after hardwiring it. I'm usually out of town for 6+ months at a time. Do you know how long the batteries last when its hardwired?

  • @cneato
    @cneato 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Question: does setting it up as a different device on a "new system" instead of the existing home system make it so it doesnt also send a notification to your phone or tablet when someone rings the bell? I was going to hardwire so my mechanical chime still rings, but was hoping it would ring the chime and also notify our phones.

    • @BusyBeeLiving
      @BusyBeeLiving  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It still will as long as you have that setup in the Alexa app. Having it on a separate system though allows you to turn off all the other cameras, say like when you are cutting the lawn, while keeping the doorbell active. Has been a huge benefit

    I can't hear the doorbell ring inside my house. If you push the button, it makes the doorbell sound outside, but you cannot hear that inside. It's not hard wired, it battery operated.
