@@xCorvus7x Hardly anyone uses algebra regularly so we slowly forget what we learned and also, Yugioh is a children's card game, LEC is ridiculously complicated for what it is
@@exzyyd392 Honestly, I don't think YGO is really a children's card game.
The original manga is a shonen, i. e. a manga aimed at young adults (men, I think), and the game itself requires knowledge of particular legalese to play according to the rules. This isn't really a problem for children who're often more inclined to bend rules as they see fit than adults but should speak to what the target audience is.
Magic the Gathering, from which YGO was allegedly derived, isn't really a children's game either, is it?
On that note: is any Trading Card Game really a children's game?
Maybe the idea that they are is more due to cultural differences, such as cartoons and animated shows playing a lesser role for adults in the West than in Japan.
Something similar could also be said for Trading Card Games, whose detailed art, elaborate game mechanics, and extensive lore (possibly including a manga or anime) differs a lot from the card games adults used to play in the West.
@@exzyyd392 Algebra is extremely useful. It's something so fundamental that it's almost impossible to forget. If you did forget, it means that your math wasn't that strong. Also, LEC is a simple linear equation of the form y = mx + c.

As an MTG player who enjoys the duel log's vids, I really like the ruling questions. I may not know all of the conjunctions or punctuation shenanigans, but I usually get them right.

The thing with Last Turn is it doesn't lock your opponent out of performing their normal Battle Phase. They can still just attack if their attack from Last Turn doesn't do the job

I love the question that ask what happens between X and Y card over facts about single cards. Feels more fair for the player and as a viewer gives me a chance to guess
Saying that chat surely read the 15 page Last Turn document is very brave considering most of chat is playing YuGiOh and YuGiOh players are known to not read. It's like me and anything we had to read in literature class. Sure I got enough right on the exam, but that does not mean I read a single page
The funny thing about the final question is that A was the only viable answer. B and D assume that there is no Battle Phase and C just doesn't make sense. Last Turn immediately goes to your opponent's Battle Phase, forces them to special summon from deck if able, and forces combat with all available monsters. It does not prevent effects from happening, like floating effects, so it's very easy to have a draw or win for the user. The irony is that the card art is of two Spirit monsters battling, which can't be special summoned by Last Turn.
Last Turn doesn't go to your opponent's Battle Phase, though. As mentioned in the video, the battle it initiates is special and if you activate the trap before your opponent's Battle Phase, they can perform that normally with their single monster.

And if they activate it after the battle phase, but still in the opponent's turn? It doesn't specify when in the turn it can be activated.
So the question is missing when last turn is activated. If activated before the battle phase they can go to the battle phase and mataza can still affect twice (thus winning the game by attacking directly.)

The Slip Summon question is confusing because Venominaga returns to the deck if you summon it with A Wild Monster Appears.
YGO is definitely a game for children with all these rullings that don't make sense to me.
Unaffected by card effects is a continuous effect that applies while a monster is on the field. Effects that summon a monster and apply a restriction do so before the continuous effect applies, so "A Wild Monster Appears!", which states "It is unaffected by the effects of your cards, except for its own effects and this card's" removes the "unaffected by other cards and their effects" by applying before the continuous effect can apply.
Wildheart meanwhile can be summoned by Slip Summon, because it isn't unaffected by traps in the hand, but once it's on the field, it's unaffected by the lingering effect, since Slip Summon does nothing to remove the immunity.

@@hoodedman6579 OCG just rules it differently. It appears they rule it that the effect "Return it back to the hand during the End Phase" is applied on summon, instead of getting applied during the End Phase like TCG seems to rule it, so because the effect was applied before Wildheart was immune to traps, it will return in OCG.
Basically, the difference is that TCG rules it as a delayed effect of the trap, while OCG rules it as a lingering effect applied to the monster. Lingering effects cannot be negated once applied, so it doesn't matter what immunity Wildheart has.
I can see people have never played Big City and gave been Dustshooted for your 1 Wildheart. He's weird af though.
in the event with Wildheart though, his effect always applies on Field while in America, because we label the linger effect directly as a Trap Effect. OCG for some reason dictates Lingering Effects however as Game Mechanics for some reason and applies the rest of the effect, despite shit like Chain Disappearance not catching the extra ones in the Deck and Hand.
My thing was with LL independent Nightengale who is unaffected by other card effects and yet still does to Instant fusion. Same thing where its a conditional lingering effect being applied before its actually summoned

If you do this again you should explain why the other answers would be wrong after the question is answered. Like on question 7, it would be nice to know what the attack of the other choices were. Would add a little education to the program.

Honestly shocked that the Linear Equation question was one of the harder ones listed.
So oddly since the final question did not state WHEN you were activating Last Turn even if it WASN'T treated as a special battle phase activating ir anytime before the end of main phase 1 would still allow your opponent to enter their battle phase.

I always like trying to answer along with these, and I usually go pretty bad since my memory can't retain that much info about cards. But I got the last turn question right and I almost jumped out of my chair in celebration!

What happens here is that before it's summoned Wildheart is a "blank" card, since its effects only apply on the field. Once it hits the field, the continous effect of Wildheart applies and is checked against the end phase effect of Slip Summon. For similar reasons, a Wildheart on the field at the time of the activation of Skill Drain would not have its effect negated by it, while a Wildheart that would be summoned onto a board with an activated Skill Drain would.

22:16 Funnily, the manga/anime version of Card of Sanctity probably wouldn't work with Mystical Refpanel because it just lets both players draw cards until they have six in their hand.
Or it would work and you would draw up tp 6 twice which wouldn't change anything and your opponent would do nothing
No it would not work cause Mystical Refpanel specifically says "a spell card that targets 1 player" while anime and manga Card of Sancity targets 2 players (you and your opponent)

I _don't_ mean that Mystical Rift Panel doesn't work on draw effects, but that Card of Sanctity in the manga affects both players equally, so Rift Panel can't divert the effect to a previously unaffected player.
(Though, in the manga, where the user of Refpanel can decide who is hit, and players generally have more agency to do as they please, this could work.)

I don't get why people hate Linear Equation Cannon so much in these quizzes.
You take the number of cards in your GY and subtract the number of cards your opponent controls. Then you see if that number can be made by multiplying the level of an opponent's effect monster by a number between 1-6.

The Wildheart question is messed up, because the answer depends on if you’re considering the OCG or the TCG. In the OCG, A is actually the correct answer, but in the TCG, C is.

I would’ve bombed this quiz. I barely know any of the cards in it. The one question that I definitely could‘ve answered is the one about the combined stats of each of the 4 mentioned Elemental HEROes. THAT is something for entry level, not a question about equip cards that I‘ve never used or even heard of.

For the final question doesn't that depend on when Last Stand was activated? Based on the card text it seems that, if activated during the end phase and Fortress Warrior hasn't used its effect this turn it'd be a draw.
Metaza can attack twice during the special battle phase that last turn makes, so it doesn't matter when in the turn
