I love how the proficiency questions swing wildly from lore questions and asking "what rank is above diamond" to expecting you to explain complex card interactions.
@@ILikePi31415926535 Isn't that one asking what *isn't* true about XYZs, and the "correct" answer is "they only use 2 materials"? Or am I confusing it with a different question?
After I saw the puppet lock, and knowing how branded had basically infinite recursion and gas, I was scrolling the timeline to skip the rest of the duel, figuring I knew where it was going from that position... I'm glad I didn't, because that was... quite the sight.
I think this was an accomplishment you should be proud of, you climbed 2 full ranks at a time where lots of people are finally playing decks other than Kash, and on top of that you haven't been feeling well, which I can attest can cause your focus in duels at high level to suffer as I also was sick and tried playing and felt it incredibly difficult to think on combos and would fumble and make errors i normally wouldn't. What you did earned you a good break hardleg and you did a great job with a deck i thought was genuinely super cool! I always wanted to play earth machine but its so daunting but damn even after all this time it's a deck to be respected i feel
Love the thematic intros, and I also love the little touch during the duels where you don’t reveal the deck you’re fighting against until the first card reveal. Makes it more dramatic in a way.
It's so unbelievably funny that this deck is super omega turbo carried by Goliath, which is almost a link 1 with no effect. Link 1s are such good game design :)
Earth Machine is absolutely my comfort deck. Sometimes I just bring it out and choo-choo all over my friends. Great video as always Hardleg, I hope that you enjoy your break!
I was never even a Yu GI oh fan untill I found your channel where you actually explain wtf is going . As a out sider it's hard to catch up on what's going on .btw, watch this in one sitting that how interesting this has been for me ,😂
Love this series, I don't get to catch your streams but I like seeing more rogue strategies, thank you for putting it on TH-cam. I'm still playing mostly your ninja deck and loving it. Edit: "that's it" fixed to "thank you" "Living" fixed to " loving"
After watching hours of your gameplay this month editing this climb- You did a great job getting to Master, ESPECIALLY given the circumstances. Can't wait to see you again in March!
"Digging" is sometimes used as a term for drawing cards, like "digging for answers", and a number of those earth machine cards are some kind of digging machine, so in that way, it might be somewhat thematic for earth machines to dig through most of the cards in your deck to find tech cards.
There's a funny list out there where if you get a good hand you can get out Hyper Librarian and then synchro vomit to draw cards, inclduing climbing with karakuri and drawing with bureido. Tunneler is also in there. Can draw an absolutely stupid amount of cards while setting up an ok-ish endboard.
I really liked this episode, I have been playing the deck for a while in MD and you are right, it is somewhat strange, since is not a single archetype but cards that have a lot of synergy from multiple archetypes (similar to Dragon Link). I have a few suggestions in case someone is interested in stuff this deck can do that didn't appear in this video. (1) Scrap has a lot of synergy with the deck, a scrap engine can help you break boards and build them with ease. Scrap Recycler was printed in 2010 and they didn't knew how important were hard once per turn effects back then, so with it you can send infinite machines to the graveyard. (2) Platinum Gadget is a link monster that can special summon Infinitrack Harvester in case you can search it (with Gear Giant X or Heavy Forward) but you already used your normal summon (on Machina Gearframe). Of course, if you are playing SHS you are probably searching something else with Gear Giant X. (3) For some reason, Auroradon is still legal in MD, you can use it to summon all the Karakuri synchros and build extremely silly boards. (4) Infinitrack Roadroller helps you make Kashtira Ariseheart in this deck. This is not a joke. Normally you get locked into Earth Machines when you use Brutal Dozer, but there is a combo where you use Infinitrack Crab Crane to search "Outrigger Extension", a continuous spell that lets you summon a machine XYZ monster that is 2 ranks higher than a monster you control, so you can convert River Stormer made with Road Roller into Ariseheart, then you get locked into earth machines. Outrigger Extension gives it targeting protection, you can easily put Infinitrack Goliath under Ariseheart to give it destruction protection, and Road Roller puts opponents monsters in defense position. Is not the most consistent combo but the result is hilarious. (5) Machina Redeployment is a 1 card combo to put 2 machines in the field, you need to play Machina Irradiator and Machina Megaform, after searching them special Irradiator by discarding Megaform, destroy Irradiator to summon Megaform, then use Megaform to Summon Metal Cruncher from the deck. Metal Cruncher can search a random earth machine (I like searching Scrap Recycler to do the scrap line). (6) Phantom Fortress Enterblathnir is a card I didn't see Hardleg playing but for me is really important, the non targeting banish comes up very often. (7) This deck has a lot of bricks, I really think is OK to have more than 40 cards to minimize opening the bricks, you have plenty of starters so a few more non engine cards don't hurt a lot. As you can see this deck can do a lot, and often feels like it can solve any board state and has a lot of tools for every situation.
my beloved Earth Machine .... what an amazing video!:') looking at all the versions you tested maybe the version with auroradon (including karakuri and shs) was missing. :0
My most favourite part of earth machines is: Ancient gear. So many earth machine decks use Ancient gears in them, but the degree to which is allways hillarious. 1 Box. 1 Ballista. That is it. Because Box searches Ancor drill and Ballista searches Box.
I actually love the deck. It takes soooooo much work to get the job done, and only after a hard worked day, much like how the theme is around construction equipment
Thank you for all the effort you put into these videos joe! I think having chat visable in the video is great and I hope you can keep chat there in furure videos too!
You are officially my new favorite yugioh duelist. Your light heartedness and hilarious comments make it easy to not get upset when somebody combos out for 6+ negates on Dat ass.
*Whispers softly in your ear* “I watch these as I go to sleep, rewind to where I fell asleep at, and let the ads play out in full every night as I sleep.”
Funny enough hardleg with that duel where you had PEP against sky striker, the anime does has plenty of moments where they act shocked that they got outplayed just to be like "I dont think so yugi" when their monster attack to reveal they had an ace up their sleeve. Granted i think there was never a moment where they try to use an effect on an unaffected monster, like the egyptian gods in the anime and the villain go "oooooh nooooo" even though they know its unaffected
Oh, this is gonna be a FUN three hours. Construction equipment, ancient robots, TRAINS! And other miscellaneous mechs, including tons of Japanese flavored ones too!
I run an infinitrack railway deck without any machina or shs and it’s a ton of fun. It seems like most people play earth machines for the generic cards but I’m all about the trains lol. River stormer with road roller is a pretty good stun combo and I’m often able to end a board with that plus super dora. and if I get an attack off, I can end on AA Zeus with the road roller lockdown.
I JUST realized the PsaiYGO reference, and I'm actually acquainted with him, we go to the same locals. Good dude. I just whooped his butt in a recent tourney.
1:05:27 What an endboard. Apparently they forgot about the fineprint: the Tri-Brigade's effect to cheat out a Link monster locks them out of using monsters that aren't WBWs as Link material for the rest of the turn (and Al'miraj is a Cyberse).
Joe your intros for this series just get better and better with each new climb and as an earth machine pilot this video makes me incredibly happy . Ty For these banger vids joe and can't wait for your return
I ain't even gonna lie, I'm pretty certain I have rewtched this vid in my sleep like 20 times because I wake up with it like playing halfway through all the time. TH-cam be doing some shenanigans hahahah
Once again a ladder climb inspires me to build a new deck... Already had the SHS stuff, so I went looking for something funny to combine them with and ended up on Symphonic Warriors. I like to imagine my opponents sheer confusion trying to read cards like "DJJ" and "Synthesss" before they just immediately quit when Wakaushi hits the field
2:07:50 im not a doctor, but i think Joe singing throughout the night may be the issue, rather than sleep apnea 😂 (Is jokes, i hope the CPAP is helping!)
As someone who plays variants of this deck quite a lot this is quite the ride to look through the decklists, especially the part where we pivot into SHS combo. Not to say theres anything wrong with that but that is kinda getting away from the spirit of EM. Of all the parts probably showing their age the most, its probably the Machina starters. While Gearframe is one of the few 1 card starters the deck has access to, needing that normal summon and the multicolor attribute clashes with some of the stronger support the deck has gotten in recent years and tends to limit your ability to play through interaction. Not to mention that harvester can fulfill the same role with a fully one card combo to lethal, and works on SS. With Ariseheart legal as well, the Infinitrack cards have some insane payoff and grind potential, needing only a normal summon to prevent hands from getting too bricky without making the deck weak to droll. In recent times, the deck has benefited a lot more from a scrap starter engine alongside the Vernusylphs to basically mill everything you need with a lack of OPT on recycler, and wyvern being able to meet the summon conditions of Citadel to chainblock the summon from deck. Regardless really fun to see this deck getting more attention! Much love
58:21 Idk, it seems pretty in-theme: you're using huge, more or less sophisticated machines to mine your deck and hopefully excavate useful stuff. Edit: Tunneller is employed in the ground (buried in your graveyard; no regard for ancient curses) and digs deeper (becomes banished) to find resources (let you draw cards). The combo even runs through your tools so they wear off (they're sent to the graveyard), and the cards you draw are the payoff for that.
Honestly one deck I could see Hardleg having fun with would be Myutants. Not only do they have unique interactions with their main and extra deck monsters, you can mix them with other archetypes like Ghoti, Kash or even punk/gold pride for synchro plays.
Honestly, it's a good way to test once you know the basics of a deck. Not necessarily 60 cards, but building all gas and testing to see what engines and techs you prefer. It doesn't work for a lot of newer players because it requires a fair amount of base card knowledge, but it's a great way to test things and become better at building.

Evenly, HFD, my free starter…Literally every time no matter my hand size. I could just be having memory bias but I genuinely cannot remember a time where I thought “cool as long as they don’t hit ____” and that card didn’t get popped.
So, funny fact, while I was pretty sure they were referencing a martial arts movie too, all signs point to the "A true master paralyzes his opponent. Leaving him vulnerable to attack" line being from Linkin' Park, as the two places it comes up in are a Linkin' Park song... And another Linkin' Park song that sampled the first one.

Joe explaining Stun is just him talking about control. Combo and stun are the same thing, but get there differently. Your opponent resolves nothing and lose. Control is slowing the game state so nothing explosive occurs. A good example of control is Sky Strikers

Same, but also only technically
opening packs with earth machine is like digging for ore veins, sometimes you hit dirt, sometimes you hit iron, gold or diamonds
True!
Some times you find more than a full set of diamonds and the market value drops.
So sometimes you hit pay dirt.
I mean, doesn't that happen with every pack? I'm not experienced with YGO packs, so I couldn't tell.
I like how it starts as a train deck but then about halfway through (post-update) it becomes Superheavy Samurai and sometimes a train shows up
just imagine the super heavy samurai army line parting slightly making room for a HUGE ASS BAZOOKA TRAIN
At least it seems to stick with it
I love how the proficiency questions swing wildly from lore questions and asking "what rank is above diamond" to expecting you to explain complex card interactions.
