  • "Sugar" Ray Robinson
    (Walker Smith Jr.)
    Record 173-19-6 (108 KO)
    "Sugar" Ray may have been the greatest all-around boxer to ever step into the ring; Many knowledgeable boxing people think so; He ranks among the top welterweights and middleweights of all-time; He was lightning quick - on his feet and with his hands; He hit hard, he had "savvy", he could move and he could take it; In a "nutshell" - he had everything !!!
    Ray fought 85 amateur bouts and 40 professional bouts before he lost for the first time; He did not lose again until his 132nd professional fight; In all, he reportedly had over 200 pro bouts and lost just 19 - many towards the end of his career - when he was only "very good"
    Herb Goldman ranked Robinson as the #1 All-Time Welterweight; Charley Rose ranked him as the #2 All-Time Welterweight; Nat Fleischer rnkaed him as the #5 All-Time Middleweight; Ray was inducted into the Ring Boxing Hall of Fame in 1967, the International Boxing Hall of Fame in 1990 and the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame in 2006

    a shame he says he never enjoyed boxing, i hate to hear that, although i understand his point, but i reckon he did love the art of boxing, you don't get to be that good at something and not enjoy the act of doing that something, but the fight business can be a very brutal thing. . .out of the ring.

    • @ralphdupas6179
      @ralphdupas6179 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Tyson, Kellerman and Garcia are jokes, trying people to convince that Manny Pacquiao is as great if not greater than Robinson. I mean the man beat 10 individual IBHOF inductees: Sammy Anggott, Fritzie Zivic, Henry Armstrong, Jake LaMotta, Kid Gavilan, Bobo Olson, Rocky Graziano, Randy Turpin, Gene Fullmer, Carmen Basilio. and 4 WBHOF inductee: Marty Servo, Bernard Docusen, Georgie Abrams, Ralph Dupas. Imagine that. 14 individual Hall of Famers. compare to Pacquiao's 6. And seriously, do these people compare Robinson's competition to Pacquiao's? I mean there's no comparison between Barrera, Morales, Marquez, Cotto, de la Hoya and Mosley to the likes of Sammy Anggott, Jake LaMotta, Henry Armstrong, Kid Gavilan, Bobo Olson, Rocky Graziano, and Gene Fullmer.

      +killuminativol1 He had a great jab, was waaaay too quick to get caught while throwing his "wide as hell" punches as u call them,in his prime he could end a fight with pretty much any punch and whenever he wanted too,and he wasnt "all over the place" for most of his fights, he would sometimes be "all over the place" but that would be when he d throw his devastating combinations and most of the time that resulted in his opponent being knocked out...Did u even watch one of his full fights??? only ONE and u'll see that what u pointed out isnt true.
