Really like this vehicle. From other reviews, it's a heavy vehicle, and energy consumption isn't the best. The odd part about that pricing strategy is the SL7 is being sold at less than the price of BYD Seal in HK which shouldn't be the case.

There are Premium and Performance models, both use the same 81kw battery on e-platform 3.0 (not evo). The main difference is Premium is RWD, while Performance is AWD.
I have ordered a Sealion 6 Dynamic, taking advantage of the $3k discount offered at the moment. But since the announcement on Sealion 7, I'm a bit undecided as to whether to go ahead with the SL6 or wait for the SL7. Any thoughts?
You need to think about whether you actually do that many long drives in a year … of course not needing to charge on the highway is a plus with the SL6 however if you only drive in the city most of the time then the SL7 should suffice given you have ready access to charging at home
I’m in that strange position where I actually want the SL7 if the preformance version somehow comes as the Shark 6 coming into my possession does feel like a redundant vehicle. Are you excited for it? Seal vs Sealion 7 what are we looking at here?
How much do they weigh? if the "performance" has a bigger battery and the same dual motors as the Seal then it is likely only 4.5s 0-100km/h as listed in the press release. I actually have concerns with EV manufacturers obsession with providing "supercar" performance in what are ostensibly family vehicles. it's just not necessary and potentially increases risk of accidents when all the power is available to inexperienced people.
From my understanding the relatively marginal difference in weight between the two ADR approved variants can be accounted for by the extra motor in the AWD trim. Which means they will both be equiped with a 82kWh battery - not explicitly stated but most media will agree with this. This also means that we will not get the 91kWh variant with the faster 200+kW charging speeds dubbed the “Excellence” model in the UK. After further thought, I have a feeling that here in Australia, EV Direct will name them: - RWD = Premium 500km+ range - AWD = “Performance” If they call the AWD 82kWh the “performance” trim, then I am less hopeful that they will bring the 91kWh ultra performance or “Excellence” model Happy to be proven wrong though 🤷♂️
