It has a special place in my heart haha Me and my friends drove up from NY simply because the drinking age was 18, and we could only manage to spend $500 each back in 2006 for a long weekend. I don't think it's necessarily making a "comeback", this music has never gone anywhere, to say "comeback" would suggest it went somewhere, disappeared then eventually came back to wherever "back" is. I think those who are not original fans of this band or who have never heard of this band before are searching for something new, something good and with meaning, because most of the modern day "music" is empty, meaningless and repetitive rubbish, so it's inevitable this would happen.
Deftones has so many banger full albums of songs! will always be one of my all time favorite bands. Chinos side bands are amazing, especially team sleep. you should check out some team sleep as well!
Deftones is an amazing band, I think they are blowing up on tiktok bc the younger generation is discovering their music and most of their music is still very relevent and fresh today, even though some of it is 25+years old. They are still putting out quality music to this day and have a new album coming out sometime in next few months. Very uniqe band and very addictive to listen to once you get into them.
Although Chino Moreno has made it very clear Deftones music does not necessarily have to mean anything as he values the music over lyrics we can conclude that it is about wanting to leave the town you are stuck in. You just want to leave and get away from everything being the same day after day. When you finally find someone to drive you (or you drive them), you just want them to be quiet in order to enjoy the moment of leaving. You can also interpret it as wanting to leave as a result of doing something bad, such as getting a girl pregnant or using drugs. You just want to get away from your problems, but it has to be quiet so you can think about what's going on in your life, which can relate to that point in Chino’s life as he has stated he wasn’t the best Husband or Father as he looks back in retrospect.
