This is what happens when you find a room or a corner where the acoustics are good. I remember my quartet working out harmonies in a church men's room. The sound of four voices sends me to Heaven.
Bananas, especially love the chord at 0:23, that bass note is borderline spiritual............wait, this song IS a spiritual, well that bass note is perfect and imho MAKES the chord. Wonderful.
@dabeamer42 no, at the end of the final chord, as is common in barbershop, they threw in a little vibrato to end the note. They all did it at the same time in a very well matched way.
You have no how many times a day I have this in my head and how often I’m beginning to watch this♥️ I can watch this aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllll ddddaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Pretty sure it’s Mike. I’ve loved Fred’s full voice since he was in Second Edition. I think for most of the higher ending tag posts it’s just a tenor/lead switch. There’s a few times he switches off with Bari also like he used to do in Power Play
This clip just sent so many emotions through me all at once. Didn't know I needed this, but here I am sobbing. You guys have amazing voices, and what's more, you use them perfectly. Wish I had a full recording of this song at this exact space, I'd listen to it on repeat every day of my life.
@@johanbrand8601 It's what is known as an overtone, it's a 5th note that nobody is singing but is produced when all 4 voices lock and ring. It's the magic of barbershop.
It's called a tag. Some tags call to be soft and some tags call to be loud especially this tag cuz all the parts are unbelievably high. The Lead is holding that G4 while the Baritone and Tenor end on the B4 and D5 respectively. Then the Bass starts a descending scale from a very high G4 (for a Bass) to G3
And Voces8 is not a barbershop ensemble they are a classical choral group (though they do dab in other genres and sound very good at it). There is a difference in how you should sound in barbershop and classical. This is proper barbershop technique
0:39. The guy held that note the entire time… that’s the most impressive to me
That bass high note at 0:52 always gives me chills
damn, I'm not even that low of a bass and that note is HIGH for me
bass? no.
@@PASHKULI yea its a g4 in the bass part
@@PASHKULI Watch it again. Jim Henry is the bass.

The way their vibratos matched and clashed was amazing at the end
There were no vibratos there...just four professionals finding the exact ring of the chord.

@@douglas2437 I didn't hear it -- Guess I gotta get me some better speakers! Thanks for the clarification.
What a beatufiul tag, what an awesome quartet. I love these guys!
I was hoping to find you in this Chanel's comments
bro they’re the best
And during that post, Fred attained full Buddahood.

Are we not gonna talk about how pure Mikes 5 is
I must have listened to this clip a thousand times, still have goosebumps. Bravo Crossroads. Miss you, guys.
Whoever took the Tenor part when Fred posted had a solid barbershop tenor sound

@@spencer8388 it is so good and Guyton is one of the best baritones especially at the end being higher than the post
@@spencer8388 also we talk about Tim Waurick and Jakob from Ringmasters being Postmasters (rightfully so) but Fred is a BEAST at posting
Roll around heaven all day!
Never fails to put a smile on my face!

Absolute favorite!
Right around 0:51 there’s an undertone so distinct that literally punched me straight in my eardrums

How does he hold that note soooooooo long?
Steve Johnson ALOT of years worth of training and practice
It's not that he just holds it, but also makes it look easy.

Looks like the breaking bad cast

Fabulous, Not THATS real Barbershop harmony.
For a Barbershop it sounds very good although a little bit loud. Not as refined as Voces 8.
