Thank you for your videos about eczema. I had eczema develop on my hands in March 2020, I have it mostly under control but it’s still annoying. But the frustration is with the dermatologist (that my insurance covers). All she said was “eczema can’t be cured, here’s some steroid cream” and recommended an occlusive moisturizer (that had fragrance???) and basically like, you don’t need to come back unless you need more steroid cream. I don’t even think she looked at my hand because I wasn’t even sure I had eczema! I learn much more on videos like this because I’m just brushed off by the derm.

I experienced the exact same thing! Like you, I never knew about eczema until 2020 and have it on my hands. My derm also just gave me a prescription for steroid cream and wanted to run a bunch of tests on my allergies..although a good idea never suggested avoiding fragrances, etc..I've learned so much more about treating my eczema online .. no fragrances, dyes, wool, and checking if products have the seal from the National Eczema Association have been a blessing in getting my eczema under control. I've learned in three months what my doc couldn't figure out in three years!
A special thank you! Dr. Dray 🌹

This was so insightful. I once tried to handle a flair up on my own and thought I was doing ok. I went to my derm thinking I had it under control and he was like nope you're pretty bad and ended up on cycloporine.

Thank you Dr Dray for sharing this informative video . When my son was younger his pediatrician mentioned at that time he had Atopic Dermatitis. Eczema, Asthma, food allergies, cats and some dogs can cause allergies as well. My son is older now, he still does have eczema but not as much as he did when he was younger. The Cetaphil Restoraderm creamy body wash & moisturizer are the products that my son still purchases regularly. Fragrance free products are always in my house, my skin is sensitive too. Take care everyone 😊

Please Dr. Dray, make a video on how to treat dehydrated skin in drier climates. I feel like no one is talking about it. I live in an environment where it gets very cold and dry during cooler months. Even though I seal in serums with thicker balms and ointments, the moisture still seems to evaporate and leave my skin irritated from dehydration. I want to be able to use products that gives the same plumping and anti-aging effects as HA and different peptides without leaving my skin in a worse condition. Thanks!

So interesting how far the medical community has come with eczema. My doctor said I had “mother’s hand” after the birth of my son 46 years ago. I suffered for years trying to control it. Doctor said to wear rubber gloves, and didn’t soak/wash diapers in ammonia (yep, that’s what we did back then!). Believe it or not, years later when tanning in a tan salon getting ready for trip to the islands, the eczema was healed. Doctor said UV rays helped!! Crazy! But it did subside and has never returned. P.S. I DO NOT visit tan salons any more!!! I drink a glass of apple cider vinager, baking soda and a bit of honey to taste to control the Ph balance in my blood, which seems to keep my skin at its best. Thank you, Dr. Dray. I wish I had you 46 years ago! 🧡

So happy with today's topic. (I'm in a pink sweater too) It'd be helpful if you put up each symptom picture.
I had sensitive skin since birth, and eczema(mainly around the cheekbone ) started after menstruating started(age of 14), getting more sensible as I aged.
Although this month is Eczema month, I started eating processed foods again. Once surprisingly cleared skin with only three weeks of a clean diet, now getting dull and bumpy gradually. I don't substitute whole-day meals with 500g of packaged granola anymore(confessing I used to do this on holidays), but it's so hard to stop crisps, MUJI snacks, or packaged bread, as they are too easy and accessible and addictive😅.

      They reduce friction

    • @nadab4750
      @nadab4750 ปีที่แล้ว +3

Hi, Satin finish fabric can be made from natural fibre (silk satin), or synthetic fibre (polyester satin), or a combination of both (silk & polyester blend satin). For pillowcases I only use pure (100%) silk pillowcases. Silk thread is made from the fibre produced by silk worms, who eat mulberry leaves. So you may also see it called pure/100% mulberry silk. With silk satin (being a natural breathable fibre) your face/neck/head won't get as hot & sweaty as it would with a polyester satin. Pure silk satin is superior to polyester satin, so is more expensive. I hope this helps.

I had a cough for 1 month and I kept calling the doctor but they refused to let me see one, they only gave me a weak cough medicine that didn’t help. I finally hot an appointment 3 weeks into my disease and then the worst symptoms were gone and they didn’t do any blood test and look at my phlegm, just assumed it was a virus and not bacteria and they prescribed a stronger cough medicine. When I got home after the appointment I got a fever and green phlegm! And when I took the cough medicine, I had it last year with no problem, I became dizzy and threw up all day like an overdose even though I followed the dosage! And then I got better! Maybe they should have told me to throw up a whole day to get better instead of telling me yo drink water and tea!😂😭
And now I have eczema😂😭 and it doesn’t want to go away! No one believes me that I use moisturizer several times a day and cortisone cream!

I'm 75 and never had this until about 6 months ago. He wants to put me on some med that is a shot twice a month (that I will have to give myself). It's actually for asthma but has proven to benefit eczema. He says that is the only thing he can offer! Wonder what he gave his patients prior to them making this drug??? Stop the itch, it worked faster and better than Benadryl- Cetaphil cleanser (I used the Walmart Equate version). I have leaky gut issues and was having a bad flare up, I decided to wash my hand with cold water and use the gentle cleanser instead of soap- it worked immediately to stop the itch when it was on my skin. I was so surprised. Can you talk about why?

  • @arianathough2070

As someone with 7+ years of Seborrheic dermatitis & dandruff (and recently also diagnosed with eczema), I have to add that retinols/tretinoin, salicylic acid, and many other types of exfoliating products can worsen or even trigger seb dermatitis and eczema flares. Even despite multiple forms of treatment my seb derm was worsening after I started using tretinoin, and I had to go to 2 other dermatologists before I got an explanation.
I'd been using retinoid and SA on/off for 4+ years and only now just after my eczema diagnosis did ANYONE tell me this issue (apparently this is fairly well-known with eczema, but less so with seb derm), so I'm pretty frustrated, and I can imagine other people out there flailing with their skincare routine wondering what may be going wrong. If you have issues with facial seb dermatitis worsening with retinol, niacinamide, or SA, PLEASE avoid these ingredients for a few weeks and see if your symptoms improve! I feel so silly that I never realized this before.

only thing that helps my son and my sons dad is antihistamine for itch. Best cream to help eczema is eperderm cream and aveeno cream. Sanex is a great soap to use for eczema. Hydrocortisone is my recommended steroid but dont use steroid a lot. Actually thins the skin once twice a week but a week no recommend.

Ive had eczema on my arms my whole life but never had any issues with it, it was never itch, never really flared etc. But just last year I developed contact dermatitis on my eyelids, that healed up with some hydrocortisone cream but then For the next 8 months or so I started getting a small dry patch on my forehead that kept growing and then moved down to my cheeks and I had no idea what was happening. The patches started getting itchy and red and felt like they were burning and eventually developed this yellow film on top and I felt horrible.... I hate using steroid creams but the only thing that seems to help is the 0.5% hydrocortisone... Still trying to wean myself off it with skin barrier creams and eczema creams..

I had something similar. I finally got patch tested for skin allergies. Turned out I am allergic to gold, nickel, and cobalt. Started using all VANICREAM products & avoiding the previous, and it was a life saver!
      God Bless 🙏🏻😇

When I was a kid (60 years ago), I had eczema all over my body. I had to get the cream (Kenalog?) spread on the eczema and then my body was wrapped in Saran Wrap.

I know you've said fragrance can be a problem ingredient but what about Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate. I'm pretty sure I got eczema on my face from a "facial" sunscreen and am wondering which of these two ingredients did it. (Fragrance has never bothered me before).

My 7 year old daughters eczema is around her eyes, mouth, arms, behind her knees and her private area. Not only that she has seasonal allergies which flares up her eczema around her face. And it’s summer right now, mosquitoes are flying about and she’s the type that would get bit while everyone around her isn’t. And when she gets bitten by mosquitoes, it swells(apparently she’s allergic). Her thighs are swollen, her arms are swollen, her ankles are swollen because of the bites and im worried that her face would get bitten next. All this would make her eczema worse. Can’t even type properly because of how overwhelming it is😢

I had really itchy eczema in 4th grade and it sucked. I suddenly started getting really itchy. I noticed I had these little patches of bumps in a few places, and the itch was so bad I couldn't focus on class because scratching it made it more itchy. Unfortunately it was in my crotch and thigh area, and I think a bit on my arms. Saw doc and used Lanacort until it went away. I still have no idea how that happened and haven't had it since. My parents said when I was a baby I had spots or a rash where they had to bathe me in some kind of medication to fix it, so maybe I'm predisposed for skin issues :0

Honestly I don’t know why all of a sudden I’ve broken out into a flare of eczema. I’m in my 30s and I work on healthcare and I do wash my hands a lot but I’ve never had this problem until now. Perhaps the stress is causing a flare up?

Lots of useful information in this video! I never had a severe eczema (atopic dermatitis) outbreak until I was 22 or 23 years old in a high stress environment - I get eczema almost exclusively on my face, and I looked like a reptile I was so scaly😆.

What is a good antiperspirant for eczema pits? And at night, how do you recommend layer application.. antiperspirant first, then eczema cream? (I have the Gold Bond eczema cream.) Last, ok to apply eczema cream everytime pit itches, or is that harmful? Thank you!

I bought the flare-up recovery cream after watching this vid. Just got it today and used it and it acted like an exfoliant. It literally left the exfoliated skin all over my leggings after rubbing it into my hands lol. Not what I was expecting. It was super weird. Anyone know if this is normal? And no, I do not have dehydrated skin on my hands. They’re frequently moisturized. Again, so weird.
