Hi Dr Dray - thank you for another excellent video. I FINALLY figured out what was triggering flare-ups of the poikiloderma of civatte on the left side of my neck. I do alot of cooking and baking and always wear an apron, and it was the D-rings to adjust length of apron neck straps - they must have nickel in them. I am one of the unlucky ones whose poikiloderma stings and burns to the point where it disrupts my sleep, so I am hyper-vigilant about pampering the skin of my neck to avoid flares. Glad to have solved this annoying mystery. Thanks again for the tip to wear cotton gloves with nitrile gloves over top for wet work and gardening. I hope all your subscribers will try this. Now that I am in the habit, I always reach for them because my hands and nails stay so much smoother with no cracking and chapping like I always used to get. I just have a big basket of those white cotton gloves (from Amazon) and nitriles gloves (Costco) in my laundry room, and it's like I'm giving myself a little spa treatment while I clean the bathrooms or etc. Thank you very much for all the helpful tips!!! Hugs -Sam
The La Roche Posay Cicaplast baume is amazing. I have been dealing with dry skin on my forehead from dry winter air and it's the only thing that helped it without breaking me out. Petrolatum does not work for my face.
My most frequent facial skin irritation is from using tissues (or paper napkins etc) to wipe or blow my nose! Thank heavens for tissues with lotion, because THEY don't make my nose raw.
More attention is needed in your videos about skin barrier recovery with regards to the damaging role of sweat. I religiously followed your tips for recovering my barrier and had no luck for over a month, and then I learned that by going to the gym and playing basketball for 2-3 hours a day my sweat was irritiating the imflamation on my face. I stopped the sweat for a week and the irritation finally subsided after months of struggle.
Man i just can't emphasize enough about the skin reset. Doctor Andrea really explains it at her related video about how much practical both in handling (it's difficult when too many skincare products involved in the area 😅😂) and in cost of course. But the most important is that the culprit can be easily discovered because we don't look in the ocean of skincare 😂🌊. LRP cicaplast baume b5+ is wonderful so soothing and hydrating 😊❤.
During the height of the pandemic, I used a lot of hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes. My fingers were so bad I had to go see a doc who told me to avoid them. He had seen a spike of patients with the same thing. I’m noticing some hand soaps cause irritation too. Still looking for the right one! I’m currently using an antibacterial soap by Dial with lavender.
You might want to find her video on hand wash and skin irritation- and I believe she added that antibacterials are not necessary and may be harmful. I’m a nurse and had developed significant hand issues from frequent hand washing and hand sanitizer. It only improved after I switched to gentle moisturizing skin cleansers like La Roche Posays facial cleaners to wash my hands.
I got a terrible case of contact dermatitis on my face from a serum that had a seaweed derivative in it. I kept thinking I was soothing my skin with it, but it just got worse! I’d been using it for almost a year. Now I have to check labels even more carefully 😮
Did it cause redness and irritation ? That’s what I’m dealing with. I used a moisturizer which strongly irritated my cheeks. It’s been 3 weeks since and while the redness reduced a bit due to using steroid creams for 7 days it’s still there. It’s also very dry and itches, burns sometimes.
I typically use Korean sunscreens without any problems. I tried a new mineral sunscreen made by a US company yesterday- I have lumpy, itchy welty, lobster face today. It looks like I’m wearing a mask over my normally nice skin.
Same thing happened to me. I used a new moisturizer and got the same reaction. Red and itchy cheeks that still haven’t fully healed yet. I used a cortisone cream which helped a little bit against the redness but I stopped using it due to the danger of side effects. The redness is reduced, my face only gets red when I have a burning sensation on the irritated area but it’s still itchy and uncomfortable. How long did the redness last for you ? Did your skin heal ?
@@Dan24. I am so sorry you are going through this! It is terrible 😭 It took about 10 days before my face almost fully calmed down. I think what helped the most was a product called Emuaid. It is expensive, but you don’t have to use much at a time, and it gave me the most amount of relief.
Thank you so much Dr Dray!! I recently developed such bad irritation to zinc oxide that I would experience burning and then peeling skin. At first, I thought that I must be mistaken. I went on to try 3 different mineral sunscreens and it was the same reaction. Even washing the face with cerave hydrating facial cleanser felt like I was washing with fire. The Vaseline tip and skin reset tip was so helpful! I’m much better now but still afraid of sunscreens sadly. 😢

Hello Dr Dray! Would love to hear your thoughts on Loreal Kerastase Genesis Hair Fall Serum . It contains Aminexil . Do you think it will help with hairfall problems . How does it help in the long run? Is it safe ?
So use Vaseline on contact dermatitis even though it looks like little blisters on my arm? It started off as a mosquito bite and I tried treated it with oregano oil…. I found out I was allergic! Ugh 😣
I recently had a bunch of very ugly pimples and blemishes to boot didn't look good Anyway I finally got a grip and thought about what approach I was going to take to rid myself of them I began using exfoliation to gradually get rid of them Well it took about 2 weeks but they left in about that amount of time I tried cleaning them which only spread things more So reasoning things out for me anyway worked
I used cicaplast but im wondering if you have any recommendations of jar face-masks that help to repair the skin barrier I've been thinking in buying Mugwort Mask from Im from brand😊 some times is nice to feel tha sensation of a thick layer on irritated skin 😅
I seem to be the only person who doesn't get benefit from LRP cicaplast baume. It doesn't take much for me to get contact dermatitis on my eyelids and the baume makes it worse.
I just read that National Rosacea Society will be putting there seal of acceptance on products that meet their criteria, similar to National Eczema Association. Hope that will be helpful to a lot of folks. Don’t know if it will help people with seb derm & rosacea, who have both, like me. Would love to know Dr. Drays thoughts. Thanks!

I would love for you to discuss when NOT to use petrolatum/occlusives. Maybe you have before, but I didn't hear it in time to save me from issues I had last fall. I had irritant dermatitis on my eyelids and I was trying to heal/sooth it by discontinuing my usual products and using only petrolatum. I guess I either used too much, or maybe it was just a bad combination with my rosacea, because the dermatitis did not clear and in fact started spreading. Finally I called a local nurse hotline and they advised I ditch the petrolatum and sooth it with cool compresses instead, and all of the irritation cleared practically overnight! Ever since then I've been trying to learn more about what went wrong but it's hard without access to a derm.
I started using tretinoin (0.04%) last may and my skin was doing great but now in winter my face was flaky and a bit dry (I have super oily skin) so I have to stop the tretinoin. My skin is much better now but I don’t know how to reintroduce tretinoin 😢
hello to the doc and subscribers! hesitated, but decided to ask for help. i have been having skin issues for years, the last 3 years being intense! loathed the thought of washing my face and showering...but, needs must! my dove literally burned me up, but so did everything else. 🤣 i figure at this point i am "advanced age" and assumed that was my problem...changes in skin, hormones, etc. i have been watching these videos for years now...have been trying to implement for years, but absolutely nothing helped (even a trip to the derm). well...an allergist has finally given me a big clue. i am allergic to coconut. what? who is allergic to coconut? have just been given this info in the last 2 weeks. have been trying to research, but am not finding a lot of help...coconut is everywhere! soap, face wash, my beloved makeup and chapstick, toothpaste, laundry soap, shampoo...etc. most of what i see is to avoid. ok...how do i do that? would LOVE to see a video dedicated to handling this issue. would also be interested in suggestions of those out there working with this same issue. and petroleum jelly "isnt" my friend either...😬. bring on the suggestions!
laroche posay cicaplast baume gave me severe allergies, I have itchy hives inflamed skin, and redness all over my face rn. it's been three days and it's not getting any better, my doctor prescribed me some antihistamine and told me to apply moisturizer, but it's been three days and it has been itching a lot. any tip doctor please help
14:21 I wish I could wear gloves. I’m allergic to all the different types. Nitrile, latex, powdered, non powdered, vinyl, literally all of them. It makes me so sad because I even react when I wear cotton gloves underneath of them. I was a nursing assistant for years and developed this issue when I was about 2 years into my 7 year tenure. It’s so painful too because my hands would bleed and the skin slides off, all kinds of cracks. I wish I could use them. I hate germ. But when washing dishes or cleaning the house with chemicals I just hate that I can’t protect my hands from what I’m doing. Has anyone else had this experience?
Dr Dray, thank you for your content ❤ Dr Dray, what is your opinion on the brand called ENVIRON. Is not enough information on TH-cam about it. What is your opinion for their AVST steps moisturisers. Is that brand good for manure skin? Please make a review Thank you
For those using the translate function, she means "mature" skin, it's likely an autocorrect error, as the word "manure" is very similar to "mature" in English.
It's expensive. Dr Dray and several other derms have videos on mature/50+ skincare. She and another derm or two also have videos on why luxury or so-called medical grade skincare isn't necessarily better than what you can get at the drugstore.
Irritation with acne and following acne regimen is just too difficult to understand 😅as i get afraid of moisturizing things bcz i get closed comedones very easily
Can't believe my luck - I've been having an horrendous episode(both sides of mouth(jowls?) & under eyes - lips & around lips are fine) that really kicked off between xmas and new year(i immediately stopped all skin products, although my routine is 'minimalist',anyway😊) ...but try as I might, every time I thought it was subsiding , I'd be back to square one overnight - it's been a month of complete misery. However , having watched this vid,me doing what i felt was instinctive to make it more comfortable, was the absolute opposite of what i needed to do(I've been dampening (often - very often 😅) it to sooth it and slapping on (copious amounts of) a nice ceramide moisturiser at night . I've been completely baffled & totally cheesed off with it not getting better . So ... Vaseline (& stop getting it wet 🙄 ) ? 😊 I've been an idiot.
Not exactly, Vaseline is petrolatum alone, original Aquaphor is petrolatum, lanolin, ceresin, mineral oil, and a few other things, but she usually says aquaphor can be used instead of Vaseline. Be careful tho, not all aquaphor products have petrolatum. I bought a balm from them & there's a completely different ingredient list. It does work well tho. I live on the northern prairie, I have ALL the occlusives lol!
theres no way I can put vaseline on my face i will instantly break out with acne and bumps...sucks....kinda scares me when ppl say they slug with it....
I don't know what happened this week. Last weekend i used an active, but I didn't feel irritation until several days later. It's like suddenly my sunscreen started to sting. HA and birch sap sunscreen from round lab, which has *never* irritated my skin. But i think my shower was too much Monday (loofah, silicone exfoliant) .... It's really that when i start to flake, i forget that i need to live with it and let is sluff on its own, but i love the scrubbing feeling. I also use zinc shampoo, but i think it was just the scrubbing
I love your videos. Is there another term that you can use besides wet work? I read a lot of suspense & spy novels, so it makes me think Assassin. It just kind of pulls me out of the video. I don't know if anyone else has this issue. I did spend a decade working in restaurants & had many problems with my hands due to constant cleaning. I just have never heard wet work used this way.
Greetings Dr Dray hope u r well n 🖐Hello Every1 n Happy Friday😀n what a Wonderful Vid…. thanks n This is Gonna b so Needed🔥👍n Continued Blessings to All💜….
Thank you Dr Dray! I hope you get a chance to read my message and can help me out. I’ve been experiencing irritation for the last several months. I met with a dermatologist who recommended to go back to basics. The only problem is, I don’t have a routine at all other than using Bioderma sensibio micellar water 🥺🫠 I’ve tried a lot of moisturisers and cleansers but my skin seems to react in a negative way (pink itchy bumps/ texture). How can I repair or make it better? I’m from the 🇬🇧 and it’s currently super cold. When I put the heating on, I feel like the life is being sucked out of my skin 😭
1- contact dermatitis
By water / rewetting
2- mechanical trauma = friction/ sweat
3 - less humidity in winter
4- use of too many skincare products
Things to use :
1- Petroleum jelly
2- laroche cicaplast baume for face, less heavy than petroleum jelly
3- basic skincare considering ur skin problem like acne etc
4- moisturize
5- less contact time with things
6- humidifier but not necessary
7- change sweaty clothes
8- use lukewarm water
9- breathable clothes
10- wear gloves for work but be cautious of trapped sweat
11- no harsh scrubs
12- no licking of lips, avoid hot spicy foods, pineapple papaya and citrus
Thank you! You are the heros of TH-cam.

Thank you.🤗🫶

But when washing dishes or cleaning the house with chemicals I just hate that I can’t protect my hands from what I’m doing. Has anyone else had this experience?
Did you listen to her from 14:48?
I am going thru contact derm. two areas neck & under lips area chin 😢
Dr Dray, thank you for your content ❤
Dr Dray, what is your opinion on the brand called ENVIRON. Is not enough information on TH-cam about it. What is your opinion for their AVST steps moisturisers. Is that brand good for manure skin? Please make a review
Thank you
For those using the translate function, she means "mature" skin, it's likely an autocorrect error, as the word "manure" is very similar to "mature" in English.
It's expensive. Dr Dray and several other derms have videos on mature/50+ skincare. She and another derm or two also have videos on why luxury or so-called medical grade skincare isn't necessarily better than what you can get at the drugstore.
What to do if sunscreen (all types) cause the contact dermatitis?
Irritation with acne and following acne regimen is just too difficult to understand 😅as i get afraid of moisturizing things bcz i get closed comedones very easily
I grabbed a different sunblock than I normally use and I now have a rash all over my face
Good afternoon Dr dray!😊
Really cold water like in the beach water, I break out in hives
Hey there!
Have an awesome Friday everyone zox
is thickinening of the skin permanent after irritant dermatitis?
Chemical sunscreen on my neck or chest but I can't figure out which one it is!😭
Can't believe my luck - I've been having an horrendous episode(both sides of mouth(jowls?) & under eyes - lips & around lips are fine) that really kicked off between xmas and new year(i immediately stopped all skin products, although my routine is 'minimalist',anyway😊) ...but try as I might, every time I thought it was subsiding , I'd be back to square one overnight - it's been a month of complete misery.
I've been an idiot.
Is aquaphor the same as Vaseline?
Not exactly, Vaseline is petrolatum alone, original Aquaphor is petrolatum, lanolin, ceresin, mineral oil, and a few other things, but she usually says aquaphor can be used instead of Vaseline. Be careful tho, not all aquaphor products have petrolatum. I bought a balm from them & there's a completely different ingredient list. It does work well tho. I live on the northern prairie, I have ALL the occlusives lol!
Happy Friday!
O La La, Dr. Dray looking fabulous, your hair is divine, like a robe of satin. Cheers
It seems like I get this everytime I try a new product, unfortunately 😔 thank you for this video!
Love your look here, Dr. Dray. Especially the hair!
theres no way I can put vaseline on my face i will instantly break out with acne and bumps...sucks....kinda scares me when ppl say they slug with it....
I have shingles on my head What can I do to keep my hair to stay?
Good morning Dr Dray ❤
Morning!
Can I slog after retinol?
Should be able to, slugging probably will help recovery (and lotions don't interfere with the tret/retinol's effectiveness)
Oh, she does talk about occlusion, so if your skin gets irritated with retinol, then you might want to wait to slug.
Happy Friday, Dr. Dray ❤
happy friday
Colgate optic white wrecked my upper lip!
Saying all this because my tretinoin didn't react on its own back last Friday or Saturday
I use handcuffs to stop myself scratching
Loll, based
Dr dray, have you reviewed Dieux skincare?
hi !
Morning!
That's a YOU problem.
I think you're fine.
Take it as a chance to giggle.

Hey Dr Dray, what about wind friction . . exposure to cold winds at 100 mph+ . . but smiles for miles. C'mon, lets go exit an aircraft!
Omg pineapple eats the skin inside and outside my mouth 😫
Didn't find anyone address it
Thank you Dr Dray! I hope you get a chance to read my message and can help me out.
I’ve been experiencing irritation for the last several months. I met with a dermatologist who recommended to go back to basics. The only problem is, I don’t have a routine at all other than using Bioderma sensibio micellar water 🥺🫠
I’ve tried a lot of moisturisers and cleansers but my skin seems to react in a negative way (pink itchy bumps/ texture). How can I repair or make it better? I’m from the 🇬🇧 and it’s currently super cold. When I put the heating on, I feel like the life is being sucked out of my skin 😭
Glycerin and Vaseline
