Hello I am so happy to find your channel! Thank you for creating it ! I am currently enrolled in teacher program in Miami . I find it one completely overwhelming and hard also I just now started to understand that my full training will probably cost me 3 times more than I originally was expecting 😏. I am 45 years old switching careers from office job to Pilates! I was always admiring women bodies who do Pilates on a regular basis and now doing classes all the time myself starting to feel differently with my own body. But I have long ways to go. I find instructors in Miami very strict because I didn’t have prior knowledge I felt lost and discouraged. I felt like students who are Physical Therapist progress faster than someone like me. I transferred to smaller school closer to where I live glad they let me do that. Now that I found your channel I am 100%sure I will be your student as well after I finish .Thank you for detailed information and understanding where most people coming from!!! I mean students future I instructors and clients!!!!!

So glad you found the channel and that it's been helpful for you. Switching careers to Pilates at 45 is awesome, and it's great to hear you're feeling a difference in your body. I'm glad that you've found a smaller school that fits better.

I just watched your video as I am doing my research on how to become an instructor. Your video was so helpful however now I am not sure what to do next. I see many training programs online but I am not sure now which one to choose. Do you recommend any comprehensive training programs?

I'm glad you found the video helpful! Choosing the right training program can be overwhelming given the many options out there. When looking for a comprehensive Pilates instructor program, having in-person elements is key. I would also suggest taking classes with some of the teachers getting to know their style and talking to someone about the program.

Hello Beth! I have been following your classes for a couple years now. I am starting to look into getting training but the time isn’t right quite yet. What tips or guidance could you give to someone who would like to advance their knowledge and skills but not formally yet? Thanks so much.

How exciting to have this in the future! I would suggest continuing to practice... that was SO helpful for me before my teacher training program. I also took my classes in an academic setting so there was more learning involved as well since I had to get a grade for my Pilates classes. When you start to notice similarities between exercises, how they compliment each other and variations of the same exercise that will all help with teacher training. If you like taking classes online you may want to check out the Trifecta Pilates Membership since there are more programs that help with understanding the method of Pilates and also exercise reviews. These aspects have been really helpful for people who pursue teacher training, and even current Pilates teachers.

If we get certified for mat Pilates we don’t have to test out? Will those that currently teach mat Pilates be grandfathered in? I ask because years away from books can affect tests. Ty

The additional exam would make someone a certified Pilates teacher. With this most places people work do not require the additional testing and a robust teacher training program will be enough to teach in various locations.

Hi there I’m still researching on certification programs that will help me learn. but I have heavy background in dance and cheer. What’s different between afpa or nasm for example mat Pilates course vs pilates studio offer mat 1 & 2 Pilates course ?

Hi! Pilates specific courses through a studio dedicated to teaching Pilates as their career often provide more practical training, focusing specifically on mat exercises. These courses typically delve deeper into the Pilates method and can offer more direct mentorship and feedback. Depending upon your timeline for taking a Pilates Mat Teacher Training Program, we host more detailed informational sessions a few times a year. Our next one will be in a few months time. Hi, thank you so much for your informational video ! I am considering in training to be a Pilates instructor while also studying in college. Do you know anyone who’s done both? I haven’t found any online videos so I am wondering if it’s possible. My ultimate plan is to become a PT and I was thinking of Pilates to be a side job (on the weekends) while I study pt school and then hopefully I can marry them both once I graduate pt school.
Do you know of anyone with a similar path?

Yes I do. Someone in the Trifecta Pilates Mat Teacher Training Program is currently pursuing her Masters Degree and completing the training, so it can be done!

This depends upon what type of Pilates teacher you want to be, reformer, mat or comprehensive. Each one of these have a recommended number of hours for an initial teacher training program and should include lecture, live sessions, and experiential learning.
