Been doing Pilates for 7 years now. I had so many joint aches. Back pain. Hip pain. You name it. I had it. It literally saved my career. Truly the best exercise ever created. My wife and I got a reformer with a Cadillac all in one and have our private instructor do zoom sessions now.
Im just getting into Pilates and will be doing a Stott pilates course soon so I can offer exercise advice to my massage clients. This is the best video Ive seen so far on the basic principles
Thanks so much. I’m currently on maternity leave so not offering online classes. You can sign up to my newsletter on www.youridealfit.com to be the first to hear about latest updates including online classes. Many thanks. xx
This is a nice video to demonstrate movement but just laying on back hurts. I believe Pilates was designed to help people suffering from injuries, and diseases. This is how he healed himself and others from war or even athletes injuries. However, no one in Pilates today demonstrates people with any conditions. It seems like you need to be in great shape just to participate.
PattiZ@ The reason for that is because injuries are a "special populations" part, not the general public. For that you NEED a 1 on 1, unfortunately 💜🦋🧡
Hi Patti. Thank you for your comment. I’m so sorry to hear your back is giving you pain. Pilates was indeed created to help people with injuries however injuries are very specific to the individual so it makes it very hard to participate in a general group class, especially an online one. When you have an acute injury it is really important that the instructor is in the room with you. Even then, if you’re in an in-person group class you still might not get the attention you need and deserve. I would highly recommend finding a fully certified Pilates instructor in your local area to give you some 1-to-1 sessions. He/ she can guide you through Pilates exercises giving you specific modifications and cues to accommodate your injury subsequently catering to your needs. I would also suggest finding a good osteopath/ chiropractor to see in conjunction with this. The majority of Matwork Pilates repertoire is laying on the mat. Clearly this is not for you right now. I would suggest looking at sessions that incorporate the Chair, Cadillac and elements of the Reformer which will provide standing and seated options for you. I wish you all the best and I hope you find what you’re looking for.
I used to love pineapples when I was a little boy, but sadly now a pineapple has eaten my mother and thus I must join the banana armada to fight of the grapes due to a complex web of geopolitical conditions in the fruit basket.🍇🛸

Have you tried a 1 to 1 session with an instructor? you may need this to tailor it to your needs
