I would definitely not say Dreamtheater are "underrated", as they are most definitely the most famous prog band of their generation (with Porcupine Tree maybe), it's Just that prog metal never enjoyed the kind of popularity that prog rock did in the early 70s, when Yes, King Crimson, Genesis etc. were in their heyday. And Rush kind of bridged into the eighties by having a more accessible sound, while keeping some prog antics.
After a long time absence of synths I've started with Behringer synths again 3 years ago. Deepmind 12, Model D, Pro 1 and Poly D those were on my desk. Very good and affordable synths and I'm not bashing the brand. BUT ... in the meanwhile Behringer is only announcing new synths, they are´nt available on market. Exciting clones of the CS80, the PPG, the Oberheim ... just vapourware. I think it´s ok to announce new models a certain time before a model will come to market. But an announcement without a product,. Behringer, that's not how it should be.
This to me sounds exactly like my Behringer Model D and I wonder if that's proper. Because afaih the Taurus sounds different than the Minimoog. But when I'm right, what's the point of this over the Model D which could do this plus more?
Especially since the octave limit is lifted. I don't know if it's possible on the Minitaur now but back when it was new on the market you could only use 2 or 3 octaves and not use it as lead synth.
@@derkernspalter Minitaur goes up to C5, but then you have the special edition Moog Sirin that is like a minitaur without the limitations - and some internal differences as well. Minitaur is 350 used and Sirin is like 1000. So you pay a lot for those extra octaves.
I can get these sounds from the plethora of Behringer synths I currently have,as a matter of fact any of the Behringer synths with a 3340 chip . Nice reproduction though .
It's for people who wanted the original. There's a lot to be said for the UI & *NOT* having all the options the other Synths do. Workflow is a largely Psychological experience. Sometimes you get completely different results from 2 Synths, which by all logic should be capable of producing the exact same sounds. There's more to it than Transistors & Capacitors. How do you feel using it?

Exactly! I've got a dozen apps on my iPad that can make this sound and my Model D can do this and so much more. It's the pedals that made the Taurus what it is. Without those, I just don't see the point here.
I think $149 is a bit unrealistic in this day and age. Analog = more components = more r&d to fit it into the eurorack/ desktop format. Plus it’s a slightly niche product, so yeah, not surprised it’s priced at $349. It’ll get a bit cheaper as retailers try and undercut each other but not by much I fancy, unlike the korg state , hydrasynth, Arturias etc. it’s one for the purists.
THANKS Behringer for all of your great products. Now Behringer needs to start Creating Rackmount Units, like reverb, delay, equalizers, compressors, gates, digital and analog synthetic with all instrument sounds including drums etc... Okay, but real talk, I need to make this battery powered. I know I'll need a power bank, but what will I need to make this happen? I know it's not "designed" to be battery operated, but I need it to be for a project and I've heard there's definitely ways to do it.
I have a minitaur which I love but I am glad they have released this as Moog never opened up the range of these oscillators instead choosing to release a limited edition Sirin for which prices have been ridiculous and this product now solves that issue.
Just as I started thinking of getting a Moog Minitaur, Behringer announces this. Depending on when this actually hit stores, I'm probably going to stick with the Moog, but, with that extended range the Toro has, I could potentially get both since the Minitaur is strictly bass.
The minitaur is the real deal. I made a full song with it on my channel (in French, but the music is in..well... music) It shows you can do much more than bass with the Minitaur
Although this unit is very cool, it's a strange middle ground format wise. It's not as big, and definitely not as robust with intensions of using your feet to make selections like synth portion of the original...... But it's not as compact as the minitaur, which is really all you need size wise if you aren't going to be putting this thing on the floor and hitting it with your feet. It's like a 3/4 size of the original with the construction of a desktop unit.

This is a real challenge for Behringer, not anyone can imitate the power of a true Taurus Bass pedal! I hope they are an exception!

The basic tone is nice, but its limited sound design options mean Its pretty far down the list of interesting behringer products.
Since they announced the Toro, I wondered which would be better for those massive bass tones. This, or the Model D. Still debating.

I use the Crumar Mojo Pedals and this is a perfect fit! Please make enough because this item is going to be a hit.
