    Great demo. Like the dry examples. If it sounds good dry it will sound superb wet.

    Mine just arrived today. I'm surprised how bass-y it can sound. It's really amazing.

    I have Strymon Mobius pedal. In the Chorus effect section there's different modes. The mode "multi" is completely imitates solina ensemble chorus!!! (With few other adjustments of level, depth, rate, and tone. Tweak it and you'll nail the exact solina tone!!!

    I have an arp badged solina seiv, my solina needs work ( a few dead keys as of late) so, this is wonderful! there are slight differences ( the contra bass "rips" a bit more in he bass. I'm sure these are the differences that exist between revisions of solina. mine has a huge cage inside of electronics like NOTHING I've seen working on electronics in my life, where I've seen newer solinas with three boards, that imho sounded much thinner sounding but, Id rather work on over mine honestly.) this sounds more like the three boarded version and I think like most modern behringers, they nailed it. I have a real arp 2600, and two grey meanie clones and, I love them, I have lots of behringers clones, many sound damned close. much love to uli

    I am on the fence on this one. I have an Arp Quadra which I will be restoring in a few months. I had it working several years ago, and it did these sounds plus considerably more. But, for the money, this isn't bad at all. You could gig with it, leave your expensive vintage synths at home. It is sort of a one trick pony, but that pony sounds good when you need it. I've done these types of sounds fairly easily with modern synths, if you layer your sawtooth waves, detune them a bit, then filter and run them through the needed effects. I kept looking for a good Omni 2, but they are overpriced in need of repair. I saw a demo of the VC340, which might be a better bang for your buck.

    Thanks for the review. I've always loved the Solina String Ensemble. It was used on almost everything in the '70s. I do wish you had run the stereo out from the 3.5mm jack so we could enjoy the ensemble and phaser effects to the fullest.

      The 3.5" output is stereo? I thought the whole thing was mono.

      @mikemeengs5720 The headhone out is stereo 3.5mm (1/8")but the output would be very low. The module itself is a mono out, 1/4". Behringer did this to be faithful to the original, apparently.

    I wish you would have turned the trumpet sound off. It was on for the entire demo. Also you pretty much left the phaser color switch in the "soft" position for the entire demo. The combination that would really show the Solina off would be only bass and violin on so that you get the bottom and top, and then add the modulation and phaser in the full setting. In this configuration the crescendo would also really work strong as I believe the crescendo only works for the string sounds and not the trumpet/horn. You never tried adjusting the crescendo with the trumpet/horn turned off so we could never hear the crescendo working. Perhaps another video addressing these combinations would be a good thing to do. Thanks!

    I wanted to like this so much since synthesized strings are my favourite sound. But I just don't like it at all. I made a string emulation in Vital that I much prefer for it's warmer timbre and nicer tone. I also wanted to like the Waldorf Streichfett but passed on that one too. I guess i don't like retro sounds as much as I think I will.

      Hi there, the Solina covers a range of 4 octaves. Hope that helps. Have a great day, evening or night!

      True, but even if you have no use for that sound, you still get a real analog ensemble chorus and phaser rack effect unit for 330€.

    • @vaiman7777
      @vaiman7777 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@spotlight-kyd I guess so, albeit 1 control over the FX. But yes, it's a handy eurorack fx. Not worth it really, when there's pedals that offer more. 180euro would have been more suited I think.

      @@vaiman7777 What other analog BBD ensemble chorus effect units are there?

      @@spotlight-kyd I use the Boss Waza pedals, not cheap, but I like the sound and small footprint.

      @@vaiman7777 Take the CE-2W and add a good analog phaser pedal and you're in the same price region. And although the Roland Chorus sound is a classic, it's not the solina chorus sound.
