- Clay and I went down to WV, hit some unmaintained roads and a few no named roads, learned what we could and couldn't do, figured our way out of a few situations, absolutely beautiful area we were in.
The Nissan Frontier. The most underrated 4x4 for the money on the entire planet. Reliable, tough little truck.
Absolutely, I tell everyone that doubts the truck that it is very capable even in stock form

Just bought a used 2019 with 26,000km. Awesome little truck solid as a rock. I love how capable and old school they are. Perfect for Canadian terrain.

I just bought a 2010 frontier SE 4x4 (crew with the 6ft bed) and im picking it up tomorrow, hopefully its as good as people say! I certainly liked it more than the comparable tacoma i drove tge sane day so we'll see
Love the blue! And the front grille is so cool. I've looked for a similar one, but haven't found any.
The grilles are hard to find, and depending on the year frontier, this grills is an 05 to 08 navara nismo style grille and only fits those years

Super Impressed with that stock pro4x. I have a stock low mileage 2015 SV. I hope to throw a small lift on it eventually.
Oh yea I was impressed with it too. Stock tires and everything. The biggest thing I noticed with the post face lift frontier 09+ was the ABLS that my 05 doesn't have

@@OhioFrontier yeah, I’m across the lake from Sandusky. I plan on checking out Ohio when things open up, iv always been interest in the history and the fishing looks prime.

bleautiful scene! I have the same Pro4X in blue also (2011) and yes gas mileage is awful but everything else makes up for it.
Nice, I plan to go back to this spot this spring to get another video of the beautiful area. And to combat the milage I always carry extra fuel

@@OhioFrontier absolutely, looking for a nismo or pro4x frontier or xterra, off roading would be mainly what it's used for as I have tundra already, but feel it's to big to go on a lot of trails around me, and I actually use it for work so don't want to risk breaking it since it's my only vehicle at the moment. Lol

Yea those tires did pretty good in the snow. These are the best mountains we got on this side lol. I'd absolutely love to wheel out west, you guys have the best landscape
Tacoma boy's always make fun of my 08 Nissmo Frontier. Its until I out run them and go through what ever trail they go through is when they show respect.
Show them how it's done! I haven't had much negative experiences come my way from others other than a couple full size trucks that got stuck and said i couldn't make it through a trail they got stuck on

Easiest and most efficient solution to low gas mileage is High Flow Performance Air filter like K&N Performance or AEM DRYFLOW AIR FILTER. Run it on Shell V-Power Nitro +Premium Gas with STA-BIL 360 Ethanol Fuel Treatment 1oz. Per every 5 gallons. Which is in Frontier PRO-4X 4.0L V6 is about 1/4 of a gas tank.
I never knew that Ohio looked like this. I own a 2018 pro4x. I love it.
The only 2 things I do not like is
Gas mileage and changing the spark plugs takes a freaking PHD

I am sure a Toyota or any midsize 4x4 could go with y'all but man there is something really special about the pro 4x. i bought a 2014 3wks ago on a whim and first thing i did was see what it could do after i had the shit scared out of me i got it together and relied on that truck to do what it was meant for. and i am sold f.y.i before i bought this truck i sold a 2017 tacoma sport because i was offered more than i paid and i do not regret it for a second.
Oh yea man, I don't knock any other vehicles, I've trailed with a diverse group of vehicles, they all have their strength and weaknesses, many people talk down the Frontier, which is why I set out to prove them wrong. I love my frontier, and I enjoy an vehicle and setup that wants to get out. I'm glad to hear you got a frontier, once you start doing the right mods, they are very good off road.
@@OhioFrontier the biggest suprise was actually having to use the locker thinking it would not make a difference. and finding it made all the difference for the situation i put myself in. i had to stop and smoke a bowl and just appreciate the ugly stepchild for what it is. Thanks for the vids it helps alittle with confidence on what these trucks can do. I have to do all this shit by myself. And i am not one to shy away from a challenge.
@@shawnmclaughlin7418 lockers and tires are key for tricky situations, and stopping and assessing the situation is always good thing, I do it plenty of times, I can't even tell you how many situations I had got my self into, but with some outside the box thinking, I've always got my truck out of the situation. Don't even be afraid to track build or use items you normally wouldn't to help create a solution. If you plan on wheeling, get yourself some recovery gear. I'll continuously upload more content when I can. Feel free to ask questions too, im not the smartest but I'm gaining experience

@@jonathonstaggs9916 in this video I have all 4 cats deleted, Doug thorley B pipes in place of the secondary cats. 2.5in exhaust into an X pipe then into a borla sport muffler dual in and out, then just 2.5in tail pipes out the back. Current set up, is just without the X pipe
@@OhioFrontier Try putting some small resonators in where the secondary cats used to be. That should make it a bit more mellow.
WV has some of the most scenic country on the east coast. Looks like you guys had the perfect amount of snow. Where was this? I'm heading to the Monongahela National Forest next weekend with some friends, Greenbriar ranger district, forest roads 92, 235, etc. near Cheat Bridge, WV.
Hell yea, the Monongahela is on my list of places to go, but this road was over by wheeling

On my Frontier, the blue one, the front bumper is painted with bed liner. And the tow hitch with shackle was useful I'm glad he had it on his.
You must have done the rear diff breather upgrade
Yep, that was one of the first nods I did back when I bought, haven't had any water in the diff yet
I’m curious what kind of modifications are done to the black 4x. I just got a 2016 pro4x myself and while I’m not really an off roading for the sake of off roading kinda guy, my other interest put me in spots like this semi regularly
That frontier at the time was bone stock. It really impressed me.
@@OhioFrontier that’s the answer I was hoping for haha. If that’s the case I think mine will meet all my needs as it sits. Maybe throw some recovery boards in the bed. Blue truck is beautiful by the way. I was very bummed to find out I can’t get a grill like that for the newer model. Thanks for the reply!

Personally I wouldn't know, I haven't drove one. That being said based of the information others have posted on the nissan frontier club Facebook page. I haven't seen really any negative feedback from them. People seem to like the new engine and transmission

You sure you had those in 4 x 4? I have a 2019 SV and have never had such a problem as you had at that creek.
Lol nah man did the whole thing in 2wd. What you don't see is the deep rut just after the crest of the hill, our front tires had nothing to bite onto. On one of my attempts you can see a bit of dirt fling out from the front where my tires finally reached some ground. But at that point the angle of the hill is too sharp and almost touching the frame. I've done that trail many times.
I guess the driver of the GMC couldn't handle the terrain.Nissan kicked its arse.I love my Nissan Xterra 4.0

The muffler I has in that video was a borla sport muffler, dual in dual out

Yea they only ran the "NISMO" for a few years then re-badged it to the pro4x.
And yes my exhaust got ripped off, I was bottoming out on that hill

At the start of the video the black truck squeaks what is that ? Mine does it to
Most likely the hood latch, or the bump stops to the hood. You can spray wd 40 in it to see if it stops, if it does, that was the problem, mine did it too
Does the blue one have a rear locker?
I now have an ARB air locker in the rear, but sadly broke the clutch gear in it

No it's 4wd. I don't the abls system in my 05
What lift and camper shell are you running on your truck?
Ome HD light front and rear, paired with a .5in coil spacer, and 1.5in rear shackle, the shell is a knock off are from camperworld
Did you remove your sway bar
Yes the front sway bar is removed and I cut off the mounting points on the control arms too

@@jthondacrf8926 if you have stock suspension I wouldn't remove the sway bar, you'll lean way too much when cornering, and sway in the wind on the highway.
If you have a stiff aftermarket suspension then you'll be fine, still leans a little when corning , but nothing crazy and just a tad but of sway on the highway in wind
@@OhioFrontierdon’t they make fairly easy disconnects? Pulls a pin or something simple
@thomaskrutulis2289 they do not make any sway bar disconnects for the D40 frontier that I have found yet. If you plan to offroad regularly and have upgraded your suspension you could go ahead and remove it. If you don't like the way it feels, just throw it back on

That is correct, the black one is newer and as the abls braking system that will brake the spinning wheel, where mine ( the blue ) doesn't. My suspension was also very stiff at the time too, which I learned was causing me issues
