Guys if your truck isn’t equipped with the rear locker, switch to 4wd low when you’re tackling some of these more challenging obstacles, It changes the traction control programming in these Frontiers. Makes a huge difference. Great content bud, keep it coming!
I know literally everyone jas said it already, but this video is a really good example of how beneficial a locker is. That Pro-4X climbed right up those obstacles, on smaller, bald tires, that yours couldn't do. Makes me wanna throw a detroit locker in my Jeep (has the rear LSD).
I have a '22 Pro 4X (LOVE IT) and I'd pay more for a front locker as well. I get tired of people comparing the TRD PRO with the Pro 4x. Equal match: TRD 4x4, PRO 4X. Now Nissan should make a model above the 4x that can compete against the TRD PRO. although, after looking at the new 'model TRD Pro's, phew Nissan would have to bring it!
Great coaching the frontier out of the hole with some brake pressure. I've done that to get out of gullies that I would have been stuck in otherwise. It can be the difference between spinning and winning if you have open diffs.
Fun vid! Really enjoyed you guys rolling in everyday rigs, and not purpose built off road monsters with 50k in mods. Was ciool to see Nissan repped by 3 rigs here. I hope Nissan makes an Xterra on the gen 3 platform
Great Video!!! I have a 2014 pro4x and just purchased a stock 2024 pro4x. They drive a little differently, especially off road. Since I have more experience with the 2014, it's much easier to navigate and I know what it can do (although, I am often surprised when I use new techniques I learn from my fellow off-roaders) I'm certain, that with time and practice, I'll get to drive my new Pro4x wth the same ease I drive the old one. I really do like the 9 speed trans, especially since you can switch it to manual. I think that's a game changer. We'll see. I'll keep ya posted. In the meantime, happy off-roading! Thanks for sharing.
I have watched several of you videos and thought your truck looked good the way it is set up ,my buddie was looking for a truck so I told him to look a frontiers so we went a looked and a frontier pro 4 x which has a rear locker, and it was a little over 44 grand ,then it would have to be lifted and larger tires and see if a front locker could be put on it ,so the next day I went looking for him and found a 2022 colorado zr2 with 7000 miles for 42 grand and all we have to do is put a 2 inch level lift (because zr2s come with a 2 inch factory lift ) and larger tires and it is just like my 2021 colorado zr2 and they have front and rear lockers . so he bought that day. but it is good to see all different types of trucks on here and see what they can do I look forward to more of your videos .
Love the video. Have you talked with your Nissan dealer about putting a factory locker on your truck? I could be wrong but I think the pro-4x has the housing on the rear end as the others and it can be upgraded.
yeah, the articulation is probably the same as stock. If a hair less than stock. And you’re right and make a good point. I did not think about that. About the 35s being too heavy and interfering with the ABS. 🤔🤔
@@4wdAdventurz looks like you have a locker in your future though, lol. Detroit true Trac LSDs are pretty good, or ARB if you want to go with an air setup
I wonder if ABLS would have been helpful on that first obstacle. Hard to tell, but I don't think you fully let system do it's thing, specially with using the brakes at the same time (it resets the system). It's a real bummer Nissan didn't make it selectable like Toyota's ATrac, but if you know what the computer is looking for, you can replicate those conditions and make up pretty much anything. Doesn't replace a locker by any means. I said said pretty much UP anything because going DOWN wouldn't really work (system looks for throttle, and going downhill you usually don't want any throttle). Great video!
Yeah. Since this video I’ve gotten much more used to how the ABLS system works. I don’t think I had it fully engaged at this video. I’m pretty sure you have to keep it around 1500 or 2000 RPM for fully work.
Everyone's saying "lockers," but I think your problem is that you put 35s on and didn't re-gear. That's a huge jump over stock. Also, if you're going to do obstacles that are going to push suspension articulation, just pull the front sway bar off that trip. A bit more down travel up front would have make this a lot easier.
😂😂😂😂😂😂. Well, in his defense he was camping that night. So all his camp stuff was in the bed. But he also works out of that truck so he just keeps all his stuff in it
Check you’re Nissans drop diff brackets and other drop brackets to see if they’re bent. I ran that kit on my Ranger 2019 and that rough country kit broke every time. I wastnt the only person I know multiple people that ran that kit on rangers and it was similar issues
I don't really know how much but they say that the abls is a little more aggressive in 4lo just got to stay steady on it. As we both no it's not like the pro4x option but better than nothing at all. There's a couple videos on here to show it working and how best to that may help. Im like you when it gets to buckin you want to back out of it but truthfully you gotta get into the rpm's a little better. Don't forget to let some air out of the tires and it should want to hook up a little better. Big red went right on up when you committed to it,better than the bronco. Best video yet this is my kind or shyt.
Yeah I'm still getting use to the feeling of the truck working. Still with stock CV's and stock tie rods, I'm even more careful with it. But Everytime I got out I get more and more comfortable with the rig. Thanks for watching as always buddy

I guess i could go for the m226 axel but dont know how it would work. But anyway great content as usual buddy your videos have inspired me to do a few mods on mine!!
Yeah that's pretty much your options (as far as I know). ARB or a junkyard (or new) e-locker from another frontier or titan. I wish there was a G80 type option, like I'm GM's. Id go with that..
Not speaking from experience just something I read from some mechanic somewhere along the line but he said he saw more problems out of the m226 vs the c200k. I was always under the impression that the m226 dana variant was better but I've never worked on any of that either.
