I'll be keeping an eye out for your take on the feed drive. I've been thinking on the same thing for the Old Warrior. Like most machines of it's era, the lowest feed rate I can get through the gear box is 0.006 in/rev (0.1524 mm). A rapid for the longer moves also appeals to me. That big carriage gets heavier every year.
@@ade63dug Got mine made and fitted yesterday. Made to your dimensions but i did have to grind a small flat on the handle to clear the compound slide wheel. Not a problem but i'd be interested to know if yours clears or not.
@@ade63dug Watching your video again it would seem that the plate your compound slide mounts to is thicker than the one on my WM180 which may explain it.

I was thinking Ade needs to change the carbide tip. It sounds like it's scouring the material off. Later on I realised it was the sound component added by your new leadscrew feed motor :).
Nice project Are :) My carriage lock feels kind of "slushy", it takes a few turns to get a good clamp down, I think it's an M8 thread as well. Any ideas on how to get a more crisp feel? I've made my own square head screw for it from 4140, so I think the problem is in the nut part of the clamp. Thanks!
on my lathe it pulls on the underside guide of the carriage into a threaded hole . there is no nut . maybe look at what it pulls on , on your lathe . i have been using it for a week or two and is working really well , Cheers Ade.

Can you lend me some knowledge on setting the gear train on the lathe fella? Yours sounds much quieter than mine tbh and even though I been in industry for 30years+ I've never owned my own machinery. How do you get rid of the rattles etc after re-assembly? Thanks buddy
I tend to leave the banjo disengaged unless i need it , I did a video on setting it up a bit back . take a look . i also use a thick anti fling grease like chainlube . but don't get it on the belts . Cheers Ade.

How does the warco 180 compare to the lathe from " my little machine shop .com ?
