As always Aide, great vid, I always look foward to them and they give me little ideas for myself. I recently purchaced the Axminster C8 (it's just the Sieg C8)...and enjoy tinkering around with it. I will purchace a milling maching shortly, although for now I have the horzontal milling adaptor from 'arceurotrade', which to be honest is not rigid enough so I will get the 90 deg fixed plate.
Thanks for a really entertaining project. Chopping up a plastic cut board was a brilliant way to get raw material. I'll copy that. Just got my Super Mini Lathe from Warco so i'm eager to get started as soon as all cleaning, oiling and power plug change is done. Maybe need to take the chuck and cariage apart and clean them from Chinese swarf and grinding dust before running.
Re the Mushrooms,Hi Ade I had the same problem about 8 years ago and used this ACS Anti Mould Emulsion Paint worked great and still all clear and you end up with a nice white roof.

I'm an old age ( but young inside . . . ) technician from Rome, Italy, and i worked 40 years in hospital equipments. Electronics and also mechanics player, i bought a cheap chinese lathe some years ago, which i had to improve a bit. Good idea to do that, it's not worth risking screwing up the register on your spindle. My lathe has a D1-4 on its spindle and at some point I will have to make something like you have done to protect the tapered nose. Thanks for sharing!

Regarding the M8 holding bolts. I buy rods being one meter long and threaded. From those rods I hacksaw the bolts I need. Backtightening 2 nuts is often useful… I've gor them in M4, M5, M6, M8 and M10.

Ade, Within the last 6 months I remember someone changing a setting on their DRO to lathe mode where the actual size (diameter) not radius is displayed. Sorry I can't remember who it was.

Useful- but are you really going to do up three mounting bolts every time you move to a taper mount chuck? I know I wouldn't. Perhaps some sort of click lock? after all, it cannot come loose, the chuck will retain it. An edit- a large 'O' ring around the taper chuck could act to retain it.
It's an ideal project for the 3D printer with embedded magnets but Ade is going with what he has on hand to make a 'machining video'. Using the chopping board was a clever move.
I have a really stupid question about that and other mini lathes. If you put Morse tapered tool in spinde, how do you remove tool from taper? I haven't noticed removal slot like in drill presses. Just by hammering through bar end of the headstock, is it called that in English
if you use the morse in the headstock you need to use a draw bar in the headstock tube. to remove the taper you loosen the drawbar and give a tap on the end to break the taper. cheers Ade.
@@ade63dug Thank you. Stupid me didn't realize that drill and mill/lathe holder for Morse tapered tools are actually different. Makes sense as drill type likely wouldn't stay in place for milling and with drawbar it can be mounted/disassembled fairly gently without damaging bearings on head stock. Greetings from Finland.

Im wondering why you never took that bit of garden wall down before you extended your shed, you could have had another 3 feet longer extension ?.
