Hi Ade! Just want to thank You for Your valuable tips. The proper video might be one of the Shedtalks but I don't have time nor energy to search for it. However i remembered one lesson You gave, how to verify the setup of the geartrain before threading. Attach an indicator and turn the chuck one revolution having the half nut locked, That showed me a thread of 1,20 mm but I wanted a 1.00 mm thread, The fault was applying a 35 tooth wheel instead of a 30 tooth wheel. Some of the Warco Wheels are not marked at all. "The big boys" make a testcut that always shows the correct setup, working like us or having a fascionable gearbox.
A big hug, Ade! If You had been a lady, Blondihacks or so, I would have sent You a kiss.

That is a very cool idea for that machine - use of a dial indicator would allow some pretty precise Z-axis movement. Nice that it can remain on the machine even when you use power feed.

    Hi Ade...
Hopefully my lathe will turn up today... Similar to yours!
I'm going to make a bread bin today, so I can store stuff in it...
As a novice I have a lot to learn, your vids have helped quite a lot... thanks...

@@ade63dug ... I also bought a set of carbide insert cutters, however, I have no idea what cutter to use
and for what task each cutter was designed to do...
Have you done a vid on cutter selection, and why?
Oh and what's your local pub? Me and the wife may venture out that way at some point!
I'll buy you a pint of water, with a dash of hops in it!...
      Frank...

That looks super useful Ade TFS. Do you get your WD40 in the spray bottle or do you put it in there? Not a great fan of aerosol. G :)

Can't the carriage be moved with the standard crank?
