i ran a similar deck to this for about a week or so, and i found it under performed greatly. when building, i found its power was nearly unmatched in standard right now, but it it INCREDIBLY vulnerable to even the smallest of boardwipes.. even with multiple obelisks of urd in the deck, if you cant curve out to play them early, theres a large chance that your board will die. however. similar decks to this can still be good around the possibility of board wipes. just cut some of the tribal synergies for burn. more of a backup plan against boardstalls/wipes here is my list from last week. I think the point that im trying to get across, is that boardwipes suck, and to race and live through them requires what is basically overkill anyway. The way i see it, is less tribal synergies, for more late game consistency will work better in the current meta.
i made my own version, but I included Rouges passage and subterranean scout, the shops that I play at have a lot people who tend to like control/ midrange-ish decks so it really helps to get the rabblemaster or piledriver to punch holes in my opponents face when the games take a little longer to win.
That's literally my standard deck right now. I recommend putting a few collateral damages in your board for bile blight users. When they go to blight your tokens, sack a token and you get a free lightning strike on them.
This deck all I took out the obolus but I put in collective company atarkas command I do have a little bit warmer so if I'm running into removal issues I can always put the Obolus back in thanks for the great deck tec
I bought a couple of boxes to draft with friends and came away with four Piledrivers. I also got at least one of every planeswalker and a Day's Undoing. So much better than when I drafted with Modern Masters 2015.
***** I toyed around with this a bit and decided to pull hall of triumph and put in purphrous, god of the forged. Played it last night at my local FNM and purphrous actually helped get those last life points. Oppenent was at 6 life then I dropped Hordling Outburst for the final 6. Like you said in the video, this deck is "popping out goblins" why not get some more diredt damage from them coming out. Worked pretty good for me, also think of this, convoke a second orb, next turn drop dragon fodder and then hordling outburst then swing, OUCH!
I'm surprised the Subterranean Scout isn't part of this list because rabblemaster and piledriver are a base 2/2 and 1/2 respectively they are elegible targets for the scout's trigger
Goblins! The best goblin deck ever was the Goblin Mob deck that came out with Scourge, just sick and quick. This list seems alright, I'd opt for some more burn (Bolts are back! Use them!), I'd also tweak it for modern play. I know you can play standard in modern but I don't play in enough tournaments to justify dumping money in my decks to stay competitive in standard so I take the thrifty geezer route and make everything modern.
its funny I was missing one of the cards for Sligh mono-red aggro deck so I threw in a Goblin Piledriver I drafted the other day and now my deck is a mix of 2 seperate videos you've done lol.
My goblin deck has more burn as I took out the renown goblin. I also took away 2 mountains and replaced them with a pair pyromancers goggles. Getting flooded with lands is like sticking a toothpick under your finger nail and digging in. The goggles acts as mountain and in late game, you can cast your spells and get a two for the price of one. Exquisite firecrafts end up being 8 damage for 3 mana and uncounterable. Wildslash for 1 mana ends up being 4 damage that cannot be prevented. I love the combo and it has saved me a few times. Not to mention the 3 mana horderling outburst results in 6 1/1 goblins. It's fun to say the least.
Hey man, you should do a Demonic Pact Deck Tech! It's such an under-rated card, and if you utilize a deck that bounces it or even destroys it and brings it back, it's pure profit! (Not to mention shifting loyalties, etc). Wouldn't care what colors you do it in but I went with a U/B Control shell using Disperse and Rite of Undoing
3 out of my 5 rounds last week at FNM were against mono red goblins. It was brutal. Before sideboard my deck does 16 damage to me. 4 Thoughtseize, 2 Read the Bones and 4 Polluted Deltas. I essentially auto lose game one and sideboard the seize and bones out for reave soul which kills anything in the deck and displacement wave to bounce tokens. I was able to only pull one game from them in all three rounds due to a languish and a lucky top deck the following turn into another languish.
I'm really surprised to not see smash to smithereens at least get a mention. With there being some serious buzz about Izzet artifacts, and with Obelisk of Urd potentially being a big swing in the mirror I would think running a couple sideboard would be a good idea.
I was using some different spells then the list that has been going around. One of the cards that i added to the main board is Magmatic Chasm. It seems that every time that I hit this card I win on that turn or the following one. Also, Goblin Heelcutter tends to do the same work as Frenzied Goblin, but unlike the Frenzied it dodges board wipes. I was also looking at working green into the deck to add Atarka's Command to close out the game a bit faster.

i'm building an alternative version of mono red goblin(focused) with firedancer and direct damage instead of anthem effects. some burn has scry effects to keep card draw quality up and you get free fork effect on every burn spell to the face to also kill a creature. i'm only in testing but its promising.
I feel like goblins is the right place for Mardu ascendancy might be worth splashing for since you can sac it to survive board wipes plus more goblins when you attack

Infectious Bloodlust is also a good card for this deck since rabblemaster forces goblins to attack anyway why not use it to make piledriver bigger. It also replaces itself if your opponent uses removal.

I splashed green for Titan's Strength because when just playing regular mono red goblins, I lost a few times because I couldn't keep blocking their big creatures and enough damage would go through. Don't forget krenko mob boss and possibly goblin bombardment. Krenko costs 4 mana and every time you tap him, you get 2/2 goblin tokens equal to how many gobline you control and goblin bombardment is an enchanent that allows you to sacrifice a goblin and deal 1 damage for every goblin sacrificed.
This deck is awesome. I am thibking of building something similar to it. Except with mine I use the ankle shankers, and subterranean scouts to push damage through. Play the pile driver on turn two then on turn 3 play the scout. Attack with the piledriver and a denzine and your gonna get 5 damage in by turn 3.
Does anybody have a decklist/idea for a goblin deck post standard rotation? I would expect it to miss things until we see what comes out in Battle for Zendikar, but it would be nice if you could share your idea
I can't help but feel like slipping in 3 Magmatic Insight would be really ideal in the side. In the off chance you need to draw, this is simply the best thing for your deck, and if you play 20-21 lands, this might help you toss one in favor of getting something decent. Drawing another land fuels another insight, and drawing two for one is pretty ideal considering you need to make the most of your mana and you need to fuel yourself. Maybe even four. Turn one drop a Foundry, and do the same on turn two and then fuel by pitching a mountain? That seems pretty useful, and then only drawing gas ? I see that card being useful here.

I do have one question for you Wedge, currently I'm working on a mono white Kytheon/Gideon based warrior/soldier standard deck...any recommendations? Thoughts on trying to fit Purphoros, God of the Forge into the deck as a 1- or 2-of? With all the goblins you're dumping onto the board, he seems absolutely bonkers.

It would be nice to see a morden, goblin tribal deck. And i would freak out if you made a giant deck. I had one ones, but i lost it, so i would really like to see, how you would build it :-)
I'm playing a Mono red Goblin Deck in my towns constructed community for a long time now and just upgraded it with a piledriver. It is insane. Because I have a tunneler in it i can even make the Piledriver unblockable (!) before he boosts into the sky, mostly ending the game immediately. PLUS: I ran this in a Two-headed-Giant game with my friends' goblins and I tell you man: We wrecked the living sh*** out of our opponents. The Piledrivers and Rabblemasters get boosted off of the allied board because they look for attacking Goblins on the entire table, so it's almost squared effect (double Piledriver boosted by two boards - Yes, it hurts; A LOT)
Gosh this is tempting me to play standard again. Great video, hey wedge how do you think piledriver will affect modern goblins? Do you think it could have been just what goblins needed to be a viable modern deck if so a deck tech is called for. MODERN GOBLINS ALL THE WAY

I wanna say that Smash to Smithereens should be considered for any red sideboards. In the mirror you can get rid of opposing Oblilisks and Halls and that to me is just too good to pass up :)
i run red deck wins all the time and tried this deck out i always sideboard harness by force just is so good taking someones siege rhino usually gets you the win just a tip!
I am thinking it might be good to have a card booster on top. So what you present i might splice with chandra and 2 card draw dragon from origins (don't) remember the name right now. what do you think about that ?
I feel like I'd drop two obelisk, two mountains, and make the hall a one of, and use the extra space for either Sub scouts or Heel cutters(3) and 2 Coordinated Strikes. I can't wait to get home and run goblins...

THE BATLORD Yeah, you can use the atarka red shell and pack it with goblins. Having good results with it so far. You take out the Obelisks and Halls for 4 command's and a become immense, basically.

I have been playing this deck with a green splash for Atarka's Command and a couple Might of the Masses and the early damage you can do is insane.

I played at the open in Richmond with goblins, I say side board " smash to smithereens". It's good against turbo fog decks.

I do have one question for you Wedge, currently I'm working on a mono white Kytheon/Gideon based warrior/soldier standard deck...any recommendations? Thoughts on trying to fit Purphoros, God of the Forge into the deck as a 1- or 2-of? With all the goblins you're dumping onto the board, he seems absolutely bonkers.
1st of 25 people on game day with this deck list wedge... 4-0 (8-1) Thx for the Nissa Play Mat my man. Went with Ps of render and roast on sb with ps of collateral damage 3 temur battle rage on main board took out one hall for pyro goggles.

It would be nice to see a morden, goblin tribal deck. And i would freak out if you made a giant deck. I had one ones, but i lost it, so i would really like to see, how you would build it :-)
I'm playing a Mono red Goblin Deck in my towns constructed community for a long time now and just upgraded it with a piledriver. It is insane.
Because I have a tunneler in it i can even make the Piledriver unblockable (!) before he boosts into the sky, mostly ending the game immediately.
PLUS: I ran this in a Two-headed-Giant game with my friends' goblins and I tell you man: We wrecked the living sh*** out of our opponents.
The Piledrivers and Rabblemasters get boosted off of the allied board because they look for attacking Goblins on the entire table, so it's almost squared effect (double Piledriver boosted by two boards - Yes, it hurts; A LOT)
Gosh this is tempting me to play standard again. Great video, hey wedge how do you think piledriver will affect modern goblins? Do you think it could have been just what goblins needed to be a viable modern deck if so a deck tech is called for. MODERN GOBLINS ALL THE WAY

Could impact tremors/purphoros come in against decks like turbo fog when its unclear whether we get to attack efficiently or not?

Matt Ladocsi Nissa's best use I've seen so far is in Abzan strategies that go big. Late game stuff like the Abzan control we're used to seeing.

I wanna say that Smash to Smithereens should be considered for any red sideboards. In the mirror you can get rid of opposing Oblilisks and Halls and that to me is just too good to pass up :)

i run red deck wins all the time and tried this deck out i always sideboard harness by force just is so good taking someones siege rhino usually gets you the win just a tip!

I feel like I'd drop two obelisk, two mountains, and make the hall a one of, and use the extra space for either Sub scouts or Heel cutters(3) and 2 Coordinated Strikes. I can't wait to get home and run goblins...

Yeah, you can use the atarka red shell and pack it with goblins. Having good results with it so far.
You take out the Obelisks and Halls for 4 command's and a become immense, basically.
